It's a grand old (or middle-aged) hotel on a stunning hillside location overlooking the harbour. It has clearly seen better days, and seems to be struggling somewhat. This does not stop me from staying there, as I want to support them, and it's a good location for the ferry at Cairnryan. It's clean, has a lift/elevator and rooms with harbour views. Because it's a big old building, we had to wait quite a while for hot water to reach our rooms for showers. Staff are exceptionally friendly. From the receptionist who checked us in after our ferry arrived late, to the dining room waitress at breakfast - which was cooked to order and delicious.
