Palihotel Melrose

It was a cute and safe boutique hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. I suggest just having a keycard sensor and some other type of security instead of calling front desk to open the parking garage gate to get in. The only complaint I have is the lack of robes, clean utensils (cups/ teaspoons.. we only had one and it’s used) and a full box of facial tissue (there were only a couple left) enough for the stay and the number of people booked in the room. Otherwise, it was a comfortable stay with a lot of food options nearby within walkable distance. Blue daisy is also a good restaurant for brunch.

This is a very old hotel with minimal updates. The elevator did not work, there was no air conditioning, and bathroom fixtures were quirky at best. To get in the parking garage you had to wait in the alley and call the front desk and wait for someone to answer and open the gate.

Enjoyed my stay but staying on the 2nd floor with a broken elevator wasnt ideal. But im sure it will be resolved soon.

Didn’t like that we had to walk outside to the car in the car parking area. Shouldn’t be weird. They need door.

We had a nice stay. The room was as described and the decor was attractive. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The onSite restaurant was very good and convenient. The surrounding area was a little sketch and there was less we felt comfortable walking to than we had planned. Parking is also unclear and you have to call each time you want to be let in the garage. The bed was comfortable and shower was nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay

The hotel is great and the people/ service and the hotel is adorable. I was not a fan of the parking situation though. It's so tight and tricky to park in. I do understand that these buildings have been adapted and that we cannot expect perfection. But the purpose of these reviews is to inform :)

Parking is difficult and you’re charged to park at the property.

I stayed at the Palihotel for 10 days, late June-early July and i have to say- it was amazing! I actually booked this hotel after the first one we booked into left us feeling quite unsettled. After a gut feeling we booked palihotel last minute and the staff were amazing! They allowed us to check in early and suggested some places to eat in the area. Staff were always very helpful and patient (especially since we were always up asking for our AC to be adjusted). The hotel was clean and decorated well, the amenities are minimal (ie a very small fitness suite and no pool) however that wasn’t an issue for us! The rooms are a good size and the beds are SO COMFY! The area on Melrose ave is lovely! Found it to be very easy walking distance of the main part of Melrose ave (with wonderful restaurants/coffee shops and cute boutiques) as well as easy enough walking throughout West Hollywood (and up to the walk of fame) and Beverly Hills! Close enough that you can take an easy, but long (6 miles) walk into silver lake/los feliz which we did- but I’d recommended driving, the metro or Ubers. There is a cat cafe a few doors down where they have rescue cats (ready to adopt!) and it’s also a 5-10 minute walk from Melrose trading post which is such a lovely market! I would absolutely stay again! 10/10!!!

It was ok. Good location, comfortable rooms, quiet stay. It’s an amenity-less boutique hotel dressed up with eccentric artwork and an expensive snack bar.

The elevator is broken. They saw my husband come in with a cane, and put us on the 2nd floor! We should have been on the bottom level so he could get there without straining.

The lobby is great. The restaurant is great. The staff were very nice. The upstairs hall is dark and creepy. The room seemed clean but, I was nursing insect bites for days afterward — I think bedbugs. I stayed recently at the other nearby Palihotel (West Hollywood) which was much, much better with no such issues.

This is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff in a great location within walking distance to so many things. No coffee machines in the rooms but there is free coffee in the lobby until 8am. My only complaint (and I saw the same issue in another review here) is that my shower would not drain. It wasn't too bad since I only had water up to the middle of my shins when I finished my shower, and I guess it was my own funk in there, but not ideal. I reported it to the front desk but it wasn't fixed, so I'm guessing it's a plumbing issue in Room 105 that some Drano can't resolve.

Yes the room is clean. Our room faced the Main Street and the curtains didn’t block much of the street lights. Check in was easy and didn’t interact much with the staff.

The bathtub was clogged the toilet seat was beat up. The sheets had a stain. I requested cleaning and it never happened. The bath bottles were empty on day one I kept putting them out for cleaning and the cleaning team just kept putting them back empty. Eventually I went down to the front desk to get new bottles. The walls are paper thin so you’ll hear your neighbors crystal clear. Front desk is very nice however.

The front desk, housekeeping and restaurant staff were all really great for my stay. Rooms were very clean and no complaints. Would definitely recommend!

Clean room, very friendly staff but please, please, please have temperature control in the room so that guests can adjust their own temperature without calling front desk.

For a Pali brand hotel, this was oddly run down. with AC issues, a bit of an odd smell, and a cleanliness standard far below the other Pali hotels I have stayed at. The silver lining here was the service. Tim, at the front desk, upgraded and switched my room when my AC stopped working for an evening and my room got to 79 degrees. The rooms did not feel very clean, and the toilets and showers were outdated. Additionally, the color of the walls made each room feel smaller and less clean. I think this could be a really charming Pali location if the AC, toilets, showers, room design and cleanliness were addressed

The location is convenient, and the staff is excellent! I've stayed at this hotel a few times, and the latest stay was the worst based on the room. I'm okay with some grit, but the bathroom of my room was dingey and needed an update. The black toilet seat cover was chipped all over, the shower enamel was severely chipped at the drain, and the ceiling above the shower was bubbling and moldy.

Very clean which is the most important thing, staff friendly, I love the style of the room…. Everything is very clean and cozy, would definitely stay here again

Hotel was cute and clearly an old building that’s been updated.Unfortunately the renovation wasn’t top notch as the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbour is doing. I could hear quiet conversations and even when my neighbors weren’t being noisy it was so loud.

The staff were terrific, the decor was cool, the shower pressure great but the walls are paper thin so much so we could hear the conversations of our neighbors. Not the best hotel for a peaceful stay - which is unfortunate as it was adorable.

The location and staff are excellent. However, as others have reported, the rooms are not very soundproof. While sitting in my room, I could hear other guests’ conversations and was woken up in the middle of the night by sounds in another room (and I sleep with a white noise maker). Parking is very tight.

You have no control over the air conditioning or the heat. I woke up at 3 o’clock in the morning with cold air blowing on my face. You have to call the front desk to ask them to turn off the air conditioning for the whole wing. There is no room control. They control the whole wing of the hotel at one time.

This hotel was awesome! It has so much character and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The only issue we had was that there is no thermostat or A/C in the room. You have to request a temperature change from the front desk and they will turn on the A/C or heat accordingly. Other than that, I would stay here again!

I can hear every single word spoken by a guest across the hall and next door. No privacy. Outside, it’s extremely loud with people screaming and cars accelerating.

Outdated overall but decorated pretty well. Also each room does not have its own thermostat which was odd.

The hotel like many in the area is overpriced considering the accommodation. Parking is $25 a night. There is no room view out of the window . There is also no individual heating and air conditioning options in the room. The hotel is poor but there are many that are worse in the area.

Great one night getaway for my wife's birthday. Place is really quaint and cute. Very cozy room. Convenient location. Only issue was that you can't control the temperature of the room, so it got pretty warm at night.

The room was uncomfortably hot. So much so that we will not stay here again. According to the front desk staff, the HVAC unit is in the hallway and you cannot control the room temp in the room, which gets very hot after sun hitting the window all day. We couldn't sleep and nothing could be done about it. It was like sleeping in a sauna.

loved the location (no street noise complaints here), loved the staff, and the fact that you could text the hotel if you needed more towels etc. The parking garage at the hotel and self-parking isn’t the most glamorous, but still a wonderful stay :)

The hotel room was spacious but the service a bit odd. It was difficult to get someone to service the room. I would say it’s a very “hands off” hotel experience. The location is fine, the restaurant is great. Overall just so so.

It was amazing, no ifs or ands or buts. Both front desk concierge’s were super cool and accommodating and helpful. I just really Hope they don’t raise their prices like the other trendy hotels in the area, price point was perfect for the room we got. Would definitely stay again

The hotel might look nice at first—clean and stylish rooms—but wow, what a nightmare. The entire floor is controlled by central AC, so we couldn’t adjust the temperature in our own room. During the day, AC was on and it was freezing. I had to keep my sweater and jacket on the whole time, and even then, I was cold. At night, the staff was too lazy to check the AC, so they just turned it off entirely. By morning, it was stifling hot. During our entire stay, I was either shivering or sweating. They also say they have “free parking,” but it is not true. They charge daily, and there aren’t even enough spots for all the rooms. We paid for the entire day parking (it must be reserved since we paid, right?), we left to have fun, came back at midnight, and—surprise—no parking! And there’s no street parking nearby, so you’re stuck. And the worst part? No receptionist at night. Just a clueless security guard who can’t help with anything and takes zero responsibility. If something goes wrong at night, you're completely on your own.

It starts with them and their kindness and professionalism. Professional but real. It just adds to the amazing atmosphere at Pali melrose!

After reading all the reviews I was hesitant to book. I’m very happy I ended up choosing Palihotel Melrose because my stay was amazing. It does get cold at night but the beds are extremely comfortable and the comforter will keep you warm. The location is super accessible to everything in LA and walking distance to a lot in West Hollywood. I will be recommending this to anyone in the future & will be back the next time I’m staying in weho.

I really enjoyed my stay here! We really only slept here as we were out all days but the area was super central & walkable to where we wanted to go. Clean, quiet & kind staff! Didn’t really have much for amenities but wasn’t looking for that this trip.

Very nice, comfortable stay at Palihotel Melrose. Very cool decor and good vibes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Local area has a fair amount going on, with shops and restaurants. Great breakfast!

So good! This hotel is quaint and cool, in a great location. The service is amazing and they have a great little restaurant attached to the lobby.

The room was very warm. Regardless of the little cool air occasionally from the air vent,it was not cool enough for a restful sleep. I’ve stayed at Pali on Melrose before and didn’t have this problem. The front desk(especially the young woman)and cafe were great.Fab food and service.

Thought the lobby coffee service was offered every weekday from 6-8 am, but it was out only 1 of 3 days we were there.

Loved the hotel and location. The Blue Daisy downstairs is amazing.

Loved my first visit to any of the Pali chain. Tim on reception made sure I was looked after and didn’t a incredible job. Was surprised that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in rooms at an establishment of this calibre. Seems a major oversight nor the option of room service.

A beautiful way to experience a Unique and Quaint boutique hotel in West Hollywood/Melrose area. The cafe is only open in the morning and possibly lunch-check with the hotel on times. There is no bar, but fortunately the mini-fridge accommodated with a nice half size bottle of Rose’ and other choices which got us to dinner. We were fortunate to have an excellent dining option at ADQT, French-Japanese within walking distance and I would never miss another opportunity to dine there again. The filet was out of this world as was the report on the sushi and lamb. It is also a unique and posh atmosphere-perfect for celebrations! But the hotel is top notch and close to all the great sites, shopping and super clean and romantic. 5 stars, even without the bar.
