Motel 6-San Diego, CA - Downtown

parking was limited to 28 spaces but they had 4 floors of rooms. i got lucky with a parking spot

Clean room , No Refrigerator, if you need ice you need to go down to the lobby , Good luck finding “Free Parking “ unless you want to pay $20 a day for parking at the motel .

The property was within 10 minutes of everything which was nice but there was a lot of sketchy people in the area hanging out infront or the hotel and the hotel staff didn’t seem to care. Parking was a disaster, there parking lot is so small and narrow. You have to pay $10 to park and if you move your car they will not reserve your parking spot you paid for. They will just give it to someone else.

Listing says Parking. Somewhat w lie. Limited parking is more like it. Told that part of their parking lot is gone to (construction?). Told to go find street parking. Picked this place because i didnt want to be parking on street. So the reason hotel was selected was the one thing they cant supply.

There was no heat in the room. They said it would be fixed the next day but it wasn’t. Another person that stays at this motel says the heat in the rooms is inconsistent at best. Also there was supposed to be free wifi but I never got it working. There’s construction right outside my window and the start at 7am. Lots of homeless camped out around the hotel.

We stood over night, layover. The staff was great. The room was large and clean with towels and all. The room was cold with an odor. We change the thermostat to heat. Thats when the odor got worst.I turned it off. We were given extra blankets. The ice machine didn't work. It was convenient nearby airport 7 to 10 minutes. It served my purpose. Note: Bed should not be face foot first to the outside door. Thank you so much.

Strict assigned parking but not enforced. A bit of homeless people around the area.

Elevator not working and they gave us a room in the 4th floor so we had to carry all of our bags up 4 floor. Not cool.

The only negatives were the tent city and vagrants all around the motel and the parking. They just kept assigning other new guests my parking spot so I had to get a new parking spot 3 of the 4 days I was there. Why have me pay for assigned parking then continually give someone else my space? Also, neighboring rooms had loud dogs (two rooms near me). And no cleaning or service whatsoever during my entire stay. Two hours after checking in they called and asked if I needed anything, and that was the last of it. No clean towels. No tidying up. Nothing done for 4 days. The property itself is ok. Nothing majorly damaged. Bed and pillow were fine. Seemed clean enough.

1. Though they claim there is free wifi, my room was not covered at all. I probably got the wifi signal for no more than 5 minutes over 3-day period. 2. They claim the check-in time at 3pm. When I got there by 2:36pm, I was told I need to wait for another 30 minutes though the room is available. 3. There is NO basic cleaning everyday. Is it standard for Motel 6?

So dirty, like there should be a slum lord.. There was a hair on my pillow, a hair in my sink. There were bugs, it was disgusting.

This place had a multitude of problems. While they did resolve one issue there were just too many. (Bright lights at night, Noisy, really dirty hall carpets, dirty sheets, holes in the curtains) we were forced to get another hotel mid-stay and they would not refund the nights we didn't stay there. Never again. Do not book this hotel.

I stayed a year ago and it was clean. This time it smelled like trash in throughout the entire hotel. The rooms smelled like cigarettes even though it was a non smoking room. There are homeless people standing in front of the hotel at all hours of the day and appear to also be wandering in the hotel. It was dirty and not safe.

There were blood stains on the sheets! Homeless people outside.. staff did nothing to help!

The biggest advantage of the hotel is the price and also the position. In some minutes by foot you’re in most of the interesting quarters. Other than that unfortunately the hotel was not to be recommended. Lots of homeless around the corner and even directly in front of the hotel have left a negative impression. Also the dirty room (hair and dirt stains in the bed) and smell of smoke in the non-smoking room left us feeling uncomfortable.

The room had stains & dried blood on walls that weren't sanitized. They're was mold on the celings in the bathroom areas. The bed linen had wholes in the sheets and the blanket had stains in them. Their was not enough extra towels, or pillows available.

This hotel was one of the dirtiest that I have ever stayed at and had the most things broken or not working. In the room-windows broken, tv stand broken, tub-finish peeling off, some lights/plugs did not work, overall, room was dirty, old and in dis-repair. The carpet in the

This Hotel was extremely dirty and unsafe. There were homeless individuals laying just outside the front doors to this Hotel. We checked in and to find out more homeless individuals were walking around the hallways on different floors. Upon entering our room, the room was dust central. Dust had settled everywhere. Filthy bed and dirty sheets. We had one of the worst experiences ever.

they did not have pool when the page it said yes they have a pool parking its bad and they charge $20 a night super dirty hotel my room the light from the bathroom did not work tv did not work ac did not work and they never clean my room pluse they dint have securities and homeless people sleeps in the lobby

The elevator had a strange smell. The 3rd floor also had a different strange smell. There were people constantly running, screaming, and stomping on both third and forth floors. The security latch on my door was broken off like the door was kicked in or something. There was a ceiling tile hanging loose from the ceiling, the toilet seat was broken, and the floor throughout the room and bathroom. The entire experience was so overwhelming I could not stay in the room over night.

Hottest weekend in Southern California and there was no working AC

It was a motel 6, the only real complaint was the bed was uncomfortable. Staff were nice.

For the price and location, it’s what I expected. The staff is very nice. The property is somewhat run down, but the room was clean. My only major complaint was the mattress was broken on one side.

My decision to book here was a value decision as the price was very reasonable and it was located near the airport. The room was pretty bare, as expected, however, the bed was very soft and not comfortable for my wife and I.

Room #214 was marketed as non-smoking. The room REAKED of smoke. I check in at 2pm and couldn’t stand it. I checked out at 11:20pm same day.

Room was in nice corner where I enjoyed quite stay.

The property wasn’t that bad . My room was dirty and my sheets had holes . I showered one day there and left . The towels smelled like old cheese and sweat . The worst part about this place is the Customer Service . The guy working the front desk is the worst . I have never seen anyone so rude to people checking in . I was supposed to do a late night check in and the person on the phone told me I needed to get there soon because they’re are not staying all night . I was actually scheduled to spend the whole week and canceled after one day .Hotel was ok but the people were rude .

I came to check in, and the elevator is not working. Then I got a room on the 4 floor and I told them that I am too old to work ona 4 floor. He said ok, and give me the same room again. Then they changed to the first floor, but the key to the room did not work. Then, when I got to the room , the TV did not work. They changed my room to 2 floor.

You get what you paid for. Hotel was ok, some burn marks on the bed, but it was clean. They charge $20 for parking on their private lot. We did not know. They left a towing notice on our windshield. When I mentioned it during check out, the person at the counter said: "you got very lucky because they will tow you." I told her I did not know about the fee, and when we checked in, they did not mention it. She said: "it doesn't matter, you would have been towed." She was not very friendly and a bit condescending.

The management and staff were amazing. They do need security though.

Front desk wasn’t helping answers any of my questions. Had to park my car somewhere else because the front desk said all the parking space was already taken and she send us somewhere else were she said we had to pay $30 for parking. The room was not clean enough when we got there were hair on the bathtub and sink was dirty as well. I reserved for 2 nights we did not get any room service for the 2 night I had to go the front desk to ask for clean towels for the 2 night cause no body came in to clean the room.

Guest of the day wasnt sure what that was about but it gave me an upgraded room because of it. Ill be rebooking here even if it was a one time deal the price was good and the level of noise being in the city was very low for being near the busy area. The front desk staff was great helped me with all my questions and made everything swift.

I never do reviews but this was my first time staying at a Motel 6 and it was a horrible experience. I had a reservation made a month in advance for 8/22-8/23. Traveled from LA to SD. Upon arrival there was long line of people checking out. When finally given our room my husband and I rushed up to drop off our luggage and quickly get ready as we were running late for an appt. The halls were dirty, the room smelled like it had been closed for days in the heat. I turned on the air and realized it wasn't running properly. I thought it was probably because of the heat and it hasnr been used and needs some time. 25 mins in and we call from desk and tell them that the room doesn't have functioning AC. They offer a new room, we take our belongings down stairs at this point it's late for our appt we opt to leave our stuff in the car and just bring it back up when we get back later. Big mistake. Hours later we go upstairs and the new room is HOT the AC DOESNT WORK. THERES NO AIR CIRCULATION AT ALL. I felt like in as suffocating. We call from desk again and we are asked to go back down they offer a different room but we just heard 3 other people complain and leave for the same reason. At this point I'm feeling sick my blood pressure is high, I just need to rest, we asked for a refund and we are told to talk to Yoli the GM tomorrow morning so she can approve it. It is now Tuesday 8/26 and she denied a refund, failed to even offer a partial or at the least a credit of some sort.

ATTEMPTED FORCED ENTRY BY STAFF. we were told we were chosen as guests of the day which included a complimentary checkout at 12. The next day, a staff member continuously kept harassing us about checking out as we kept informing them about the 12pm checkout. Ultimately they returned and tried to FORCE their way in as i was changing my clothes! Since my partner was there, they were able to keep the door shut bc of the extra lock and once again informed them about being the guests of the day when they finally left us alone!

Good location, walking distance to the boardwalk, Little Italy. It more of a hotel rayher than a motel. Friendly staff, clean and reasonable parking fee of $10 per night rather the the ridiculous fees of $45 or more.

Property was convenient to downtown area but was in fair condition with some work on carpeting, air conditioning, sheets and towels.

It’s good for one night. It’s basic and convenient. It’s pretty clean but room had some dust here and there. Staff wasn’t super welcoming but cordial enough. The people above our room made a lot of noise and didn’t let us sleep but that’s not the motel’s fault. Location is great!

Motel 6 they always leave the light on for me. Comfortable bed and coffee in the morning.

Staff is great. Building a little old and rooms a little outdated, but the price is very affordable. They have good coffee early morning and it’s downtown, walking distance to a lot.

This hotel is a Godsent! I love that there is a budget friendly hotel downtown San Diego with fresh coffee and safe affordable parking on site. The room was simple but clean and had a comfortable bed. No cigarette smell! Thank you 🙏 I liked the workspace desk and TV. Loved the light blocking curtain. I was a bit guarded because I noticed way too many homeless people in the area. It’s unfortunate! I suggest you provide hair driers and shampoo and body lotion even to basic rooms. Everyone needs hygiene and soap alone is not best for hair care. Thanks!

We stayed here just for the night. It is an older no frills hotel. The staff are very kind and are happy to answer your questions. On the Hotels.com site I requested a hotel that included breakfast and that had airport shuttle pick-up. This hotel did not do either of those things. There was construction going on so it looks like they are trying to upgrade. There is a washer and dryer on site and vending machines.

The location was great. Within walking distance of the convention center and the gaslamp quarter. The staff was friendly and the free morning coffee was good. However the hotel amenities were lacking. For two adults, we had only two very flat pillows and an inadequate amount of towels. The bed mattress was too soft and our backs were killing us after a nights sleep. When we checked in, we were told that if we needed the room to be serviced, we should notify the front desk before 10. After we had been there for three nights, we asked to have the room serviced and we're told that they didn't do that. We did ask to at least change the towels, which they did. Compared to the other hotels in the area, the rates were much cheaper. If you're not spending much time in the hotel room, maybe it will work for you.

Our room was very clean and the property and area looks good and safe. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Check in was very easy and quick. Very close walking distance to stores and restaurants and the Waterfront Park. Would recommend!

A person who never stays at motels. I have to say the moment you arrive at the front you greeted with nice walk and smile. The rooms are updated and clean. You’re walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Facility is very dated. My shower curtain was frayed and worn. Towels were threadbare and stained. One curtain had a large burn mark, hallway carpets were old. Bathroom door did not close properly and there was an active construction site outside my window. No restaurant and the free morning coffee attracted some local street people.
