The Beverly

Room was modern and clean, spacious and well appointed. Having to take narrow stairs down with luggage wasn’t great but that was really only negative.

Our stay was such a pleasant experience. My friend and I came to visit Salem. The hotel was a little less expensive, and it suited our needs perfectly. Since there is no reception, everything is conducted online. Once we had the room code, checking in was simple. The room was really nice. We stayed in one of the basement apartments. It was clean and had everything we needed. There was a sheet of paper with instructions for anything you might need, supply closet, laundry, contact information etc. There's a train station right across the street from the hotel (as well as restaurant, grocery store, and liquor store). The train comes about once an hour everyday so it was easy for us to come and go as we needed.

Terrifically equipped for longer self stays and more than I needed for my 1 overnight due to a cancelled flights out of BOS. I got out of the airport area to avoid the exorbitant hotel costs in the city. Great kitchen and comfortable bed. Good sized unit. All check in is handled online -- no check in on site.

Excellent communication with off site management. The room was clean and newly renovated. Loved that we received a couple dishes and utensils to use in the kitchen area to make breakfast or lunch.

Convenient to train station, but not having on site staff was not the best. Needed a blanket and extra coffee and no one was around. Storage closet wasn’t fully stocked.

This is the type of place that gets the job done, and well for the price. I needed a place to sleep while visiting family in Beverly. No frills, no human interaction, your own little kitchen, laundry on site, parking lot, very conveniently located. I did have an issue with the a/c unit blowing right on me in the bed, so I turned it off. Not sure how that would be in the summer. I would definitely stay here again if the price is good. I would stay anywhere to avoid staying with my family though. ;)

Expecting a modern, well-maintained hotel as depicted in their online photos. Unfortunately, it was clearly a motel, and this misleading information set unrealistic expectations for my stay. Despite being a non-smoking establishment, my room reeked of cigarette smoke and had a pervasive musty smell, making the stay very uncomfortable. The carpet was filthy, and the throw pillows were dirty and smelly, looking like they hadn’t been washed or replaced in years. The vent next to the bathroom sink was covered in a thick layer of dust, indicating a lack of proper cleaning and maintenance. The overall condition of the room was poor, with subpar cleanliness and unacceptable air quality due to the strong odors. There is no staff on-site, so you have to text them for assistance. When I texted about the awful smell, I received a response after 15 minutes: “I am so sorry to hear that. I am looking into the situation now and will get right back to you.” As we had been driving all day and were starving, I responded that we were heading out to eat and would deal with it when we returned. They never responded to that message. Upon returning from dinner, we struggled to fall asleep due to the thin walls. We could hear conversations from all neighboring rooms, including those above us, and any movement they made was very loud. Overall, was very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for comfortable and clean accommodation.

This is an "unmanned" hotel meaning no one is onsite. This was extremely inconvenient in our situation. We arrived in Boston at 7AM in the morning with all of our luggage. I received a message/email from the hotel that they want my ID so they can send us the door code to check in, and then I'm told check-in isn't until 4pm! I called the help line and spoke to a few representatives and let them that we have all of our luggage and need to drop our bags off so we can continue our day. They told us they would let me know when the room is ready. I called multiple times and was offered no help. We ended up lugging around our baggage all day in Salem as we had no where else to put it. We finally Uber down to a restaurant that was across the street from the hotel at noon as we couldn't keep lugging our bags everywhere. I again called to see if we can drop our bags off but being there was no one onsite we couldn't even drop off our bags. I was told the "Cleaning crew" would let them know when the room was ready. I sat outside the hotel for 3 hours and didn't see one person arrive or leave in that time. I then get a text that our room is ready 20 minutes before 4PM. The staff could care less, no accommodations, No assistance to us. We finally get in the room and notice stains on the sheets (kind of looked like blood) and smelled musty. We went to take a shower and had BROWN WATER coming out of the faucet. We ended up showering elsewhere the duration of our stay. BE AWARE.

Overall satisfied with my stay, the room had everything it said it would. Shower was clearly not cleaned before my visit, there was hair all over the tub and shower curtain. The sheets also had hairs in them. All of the air vents were caked in dust/dirt. Place is in decent condition but needs a deep clean. Neighbors were incredibly noisy all night and the following morning.

We paid $50 extra for a 3rd person...the sofa "bed" mattress was a 4 inch camp mattress over a steel frame. Only a bottom sheet...no top sheet, no blanket. There is NO STAFF here. We called and were sent a code for the supply closet, which had no blankets. We called back and they said they could get us a blanket tomorrow. We drove to Target and purchased a comforter. And the BLACK MOLD in the SHOWER! Fresh and fuzzy and very visible. No one even checked if it was clean. We did not shower. There was a couple arguing outside at 9:00. Loud. Then they moved inside-upstairs from us, where they stomped around, yelled and cursed for at least 2 hours. At 11:00 we all put in ear plugs so we could sleep. I texted all of this to the hotel the following day, photos. No response, so I am posting an unedited review. I wish I could provide the photos.

Very disappointed.Your floors were absolutely filthy and disgusting, the nasty rug you had on the floor was curled up on the corner and I almost tripped on it multiple times. We would have rotated it if the floor underneath wasn't covered in dirt and debris. Floor along wall near TV and couch was covered in black grime. Odd smell in the basement. I suppose I'd should have bid on a better room when you offered me that earlier this week.

There was mold around the edges of the bathtub. Water was visibly yellow in the bathtub and not drinkable without a filter. This was a self-serve motel and “hotel” in name only. If you needed something like toilet paper, you had to go to a self-serve locker and get it yourself. WiFi was spotty and weak. Management was only reachable by text. Several doors were chipped on the bottom and one had broken off pieces underneath. I only posted these comments a week after giving management time to reply to my concerns and was told twice that I would be hearing back soon. It is hard to justify the per night cost for the condition of our room.

The room itself was nice, and the tub was amazing. There were two issues. The first is security, we were in the basement and there are two doors to go into the hallway however, there are no locks on that door, and more importantly, there is no chain or stopper on the inside of the door. The second, there is no peephole. Also, at 12 every night the keypad made noise like someone was there. These are fairly inexpensive issues and so it makes me wonder what else was looked over in favor of cost.

Our initial room at check in had a musty, mildew smell, not surprisingly as it was basement level. Clearly it’s an issue as a dehumidifier was on and in the center of the room. Unfortunately, when booking, I didn’t even realize they had this level. We contacted staff (remote check in at another location, there is no front desk) and they were able to transfer us to another room, a double suite, which was more spacious and had a kitchenette. Great customer service despite the unconventional staffing situation.

The room was very clean. The bed was super comfortable. Only complaint was the TV. It’s Roku with streaming only. We couldn’t find what we wanted to watch. WiFi was also not excellent but it did exist. I would recommend this hotel.

Room was semi-clean but in a great location. Our friends had an upstairs room that was much nicer than the basement room we were in. I’m 6’ 2” and had to duck in our room. Smelled like stale smoke from years past, not recent.

The basement room was musty and damp. The stairs, either entrance, to the basement were dangerous. The parking lot needs lighting.

Let's start with the good. It was nice but nothing amazing~ we had the king suite which gave us a full kitchen & extra room with the living space. I figured it was older from the photos, but the rooms were updated & comfy. It was more like a nicer motel or old apartment complex than a hotel. The location is incredible & convenient. You could definitely walk to many restaurants, stores, coffee, etc. We love the city of Beverly. Close to all the best spots on the northeast coast of Mass. Any time I had an issue or a question, I just texted the number that gave me my room info & they texted back immediately with answers. I did have an issue getting a hairdryer to our room, but it was eventually resolved. The cleaning ladies were sweet & helpful even though they didn't speak English. We like the convenience of having the laundry room downstairs. Parking was never an issue either. Now, the bad. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything above, below, on the sides, & outside. We stayed a Wed through a Tues, & the weekends were incredibly loud. We were on the first floor & could hear the people above us walking back & forth for hours. So the next morning when our toddler was up at 7:30am walking around & playing in the living room area & the people below us started hitting their ceiling/our floor, I felt their pain. But I shouldn't have to worry about normal levels of noise. Unfortunately, this was a huge issue. But the service is great & overall good place.

This is a road-side motel that charges a price point that would suggest it's a higher quality. Windows didn't work properly, cigarette burns in the bathroom countertop, the door look liked it had been kicked in and repaired but never painted.

The Beverly was very nice. Spacious room. The WiFi did not work and there was not good cell service. Also it was hot and humid in the room and we weren’t able to lower the temp.

We had miscommunication about the self check-in process; Beverly asked for email and didn't send any email. Room was very clean, but old fixtures in bathroom had a smell. Our ceilings were thin; we constantly heard upstairs neighbor. TV was so dark even on brightest setting it was unwatchable

The room was great. Very comfortable. I had everything I needed. A very short drive to downtown Salem. Lots of food options close by. I would stay here again.

This was a first for me. They give you your room code through a welcome email. Id never done that and had trouble with it. To add insult to injury, when i arrived there was no one in the front office either. Once i managed to get someone on teh phone they were very helpful and we managed to figure it out. It's just something to be aware of going in.

Check-in was clear and easy. Very friendly person at the other end of the text. Wonderful stay.

The virtual check-in was a complete failure and I had to abort the stay. Be forewarned people. Do not go there!

Check-in easy and despite no physical staff on site their staff communicated well via text before, during and after our stay. Convenient location, close to Salem, Gloucester and Rockport. Highly recommend and we will definitely stay here again.

They text you a code to check in. No one around. The code did not work. We tried 20 times and worked one time by chance and we were able to get in luckily. Otherwise I don’t know what we would have done. I called them and no one answered

Was s grest stay. Had a minor miscommunication as far as payment. I was a little upset that they let me in the room only to find out my payment wasnt excepted.HOWEVER - they were extremely patient and allowed me to stay in the room until figured payment out. That was really awesome of them and i appreciated that kindness. So i definitely will be returning, only this time maybe a longer stay.

This was the most difficult check in I have experienced. It was a self check in, and I never received an email to do the prep work. It took a while to reach someone on the phone who tried to help me, but the technology was not working even though I did everything correctly. There was no elevator for the basement room and a lip that was difficjlt to see, but easy to trip on. This place was brutal for check in and check out so we will not return.

Everything was great except the excessive noise from others staying next to and above our unit. Proximity to restaurants and the train is great.

Great in between location if your visiting multiple spots in the New England area, we visited Salem and also Boston the train station is right across the street. It’s very easy to get around. The room was nice semi quiet, convenient location to a few different restaurants in a couple of coffee shops and then also the grocery store if you need to get food or other supplies.

Love the fact that the train to Salem or to Boston was so close, quick walk. The space is clean. Easy to get in easy to get out. The only thing is that it’s a very simple space no over Decour or extras but if you’re looking for a nice clean place it’s safe and easy to get around. It’s a perfect place.

Very comfortable apartment like hotel room, convenient location and parking. Really liked the place a lot. The older building has been nicely updated in the rooms, still a little noisy between rooms and some road noise. But very comfortable and convenient and great value. self check in so easy.

The Beverly is situated in a quiet neighborhood with several good restaurants within easy walking/driving distance. Central to area points of interest, this location was an easy drive into Salem and Gloucester. While there is no front desk, communication was clear and friendly through text and the room was very clean and well maintained. We will absolutely choose this location for our next stay in the area!

Lovely little hole in the wall. Lots of food choices close by and very convenient for the train into Boston.

The Beverly is a great place to stay. Like being in your own apartment. The cleanliness is above reproach as is everything else about the place. Nice area and a 10min drive into Salem. I plan on staying there again.

Nice to have a kitchen. I froze some water bottles

(3 adults) I had occasion to use the pull-out sofa bed and found it to be comfortable enough for the night. The room was very clean and neat. Check-in was easy. Very good breakfast across the street. Market was nearby. Would book again.

Great room at great price very clean and quiet. The kitchenette is great and had everything we needed

no big pots to cook a decent meal, only small pots, cant even fit corn. need better kitchen supplies. no dish rack either.

Great self-contained unit. Well thought out for guest needs. Clean, towels changed daily, and pleasant maids. Great location for shopping and meals (including a great breakfast place across the street).

I liked the fact that you're emailed a key code so no issues checking in. The only criticism I have was that the room was pretty dark. If you turned on the pot lights, it was way too bright. Could have used a pole light in the corner. Minor issue. I will definitely go back. Btw, do NOT pass on the brunch at the diner across the street!
