The picturesque Ceiriog Valley is nearby, and the scenic town of Llangollen is renowned for its white water rafting, steam railway and Eisteddfod festival. Pistyll Rhaeadr, Britain's tallest waterfall is ideal for a day walking and exploring. Shropshire's lake district at Ellesmere offers walks around the lakes and excellent bird watching opportunities. The Tudor town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin is a delight to visit.
