Could not fault the friendly welcome, helpful advice on local services, breakfast and dinner options/menu and comfort/cleanliness of the Black Boy Inn. It is located within 5 minutes walk of regular bus services into Central Oxford (about 15 minutes away). It has off-street on-site parking which is important in the narrow, busy streets. Can highly recommend the Black Boy Inn for its accommodation and meals and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great place to stay and eat near to the Churchill Hospital where I was working for a couple of days. Very friendly welcome when I arrived and the room was comfortable and well furnished. If I have a small complaint it's a bit dark so reading wasn't that easy. I ate there both nights and by and large the food was VERY good. Shower was hot and breakfast choice was good although some fruit would have been good. All the staff were very personable so I have no hesitation in recommending the Black Boy to anyone.

We stayed here for one night and had a really lovely stay. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and had everything we needed; really comfy bed, tv, bottled water, kettle, plenty of tea-bags, coffee machine and hairdryer. Breakfast was delicious and we had a great meal in the pub in the evening. Would love to return.

the staff, food and cleanliness are what makes this property worth the stay. The food was excellent quality, the rooms were super clean, its easy to get into oxford from there and the above all else the staff went above and beyond. Wonderful stay and would go again if visiting oxford thank you

A lovely place to stay in Oxford. Easy to get into town, and a nice neighbourhood around the pub (pictured, and easy walking distance to the famous shark house!). Good food and numerous choices. Room was clean and comfortable

The room was fantastic. Loved the little touches like the high end toiletries and the linen and the bed was very comfortable. The downstairs areas look a bit tired in comparison and the food was not as exciting as expected. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The Black Boy was a lovely stay in an original pub. The staff were lovely, as well as helpful, the pub was a short walk from shops and cafes. And the staff graciously called us a taxi into Oxford. We stayed here for a wedding in Oxford and it was the perfect stay. The room was very clean, well stocked with tea and coffee, and the local soaps were nice in the clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was great, too, with a proper full English breakfast.

Lovely stay thanks to wonderful staff, though not as quiet or restful as I would have liked. Location is convenient for Oxford Brookes University and bus stops with routes into Oxford Centre. On arrival, I found out breakfast is served between 8 and 10, so I would miss breakfast on the two mornings of my course, as I had to leave at 7:30 on Saturday and 7:45 on Sunday. For Saturday there was nothing to be done, but for Sunday the incredibly lovely and attentive staff made me an early packed breakfast + lunch (as an alternative to make up for missed breakfast on Saturday). I am so grateful for the staff's kindness and flexibility, arriving early on Sunday to make sure I was fed - this is why I'm rating with 5 stars. I was only able to enjoy the delicious breakfast served on site on Monday - great variety and everything super tasty. Room and bathroom was super clean, nicely decorated and with welcoming touches: complimentary still and sparkling water, coffee, and biscuits. Mattress was uncomfortable, pillows were nice. Important to know: the rooms are right above the pub and three of them (mine included) face the street. Windows are not double glazed, so it is quite noisy until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday (car noise from street, conversations, laughter, music, and doors slamming). Lack of double glazing also makes for draughty rooms, and for some cigarette smell to sneak in from outside.

As our son lives nearby my wife and i have stayed before and also been in regularly for drinks and found every experience a good one. Staff are aways so polite and helpful. Rooms are excellent and breakfast also excellent. My wife very impressed with the vegetarian breakfast as few places get this right. We have already booked to stsy again

They were so kind to us opening breakfast early so we could get to LHR at a time they also helped us determine. The room was great, I would recommend this to anyone. Oxford is a bit of a mess right now with all the road work so staying on the outskirts was a benefit.

I was only able to enjoy the delicious breakfast served on site on Monday - great variety and everything super tasty. Room and bathroom was super clean, nicely decorated and with welcoming touches: complimentary still and sparkling water, coffee, and biscuits. Mattress was uncomfortable, pillows were nice. Important to know: the rooms are right above the pub and three of them (mine included) face the street. Windows are not double glazed, so it is quite noisy until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday (car noise from street, conversations, laughter, music, and doors slamming). Lack of double glazing also makes for draughty rooms, and for some cigarette smell to sneak in from outside.

We stayed at The Black Boy, Headington, hidden away on the outskirts of Oxford and a cheap taxi ride into town. From the moment we arrived the manager and her staff were so welcoming and really helpful. Atmosphere was great, room comfy and breakfast lovely. Would recommend!

What a great find. We were going back & forth to JR from Reading but decided to stay over as it saves time and The Black Boy was excellent- staff so helpful and friendly, food was amazing and our room lovely - we will be going back.

Could not fault the friendly welcome, helpful advice on local services, breakfast and dinner options/menu and comfort/cleanliness of the Black Boy Inn. It is located within 5 minutes walk of regular bus services into Central Oxford (about 15 minutes away). It has off-street on-site parking which is important in the narrow, busy streets. Can highly recommend the Black Boy Inn for its accommodation and meals and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

The Black Boy was a lovely stay in an original pub. The staff were lovely, as well as helpful, the pub was a short walk from shops and cafes. And the staff graciously called us a taxi into Oxford. We stayed here for a wedding in Oxford and it was the perfect stay. The room was very clean, well stocked with tea and coffee, and the local soaps were nice in the clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was great, too, with a proper full English breakfast.

They were so kind to us opening breakfast early so we could get to LHR at a time they also helped us determine. The room was great, I would recommend this to anyone. Oxford is a bit of a mess right now with all the road work so staying on the outskirts was a benefit.

Lovely stay thanks to wonderful staff, though not as quiet or restful as I would have liked. Location is convenient for Oxford Brookes University and bus stops with routes into Oxford Centre. On arrival, I found out breakfast is served between 8 and 10, so I would miss breakfast on the two mornings of my course, as I had to leave at 7:30 on Saturday and 7:45 on Sunday. For Saturday there was nothing to be done, but for Sunday the incredibly lovely and attentive staff made me an early packed breakfast + lunch (as an alternative to make up for missed breakfast on Saturday). I am so grateful for the staff's kindness and flexibility, arriving early on Sunday to make sure I was fed - this is why I'm rating with 5 stars. English pub in a quiet, but well connetted, area in Oxford. The room is nice, well equipped and with an en-suite, new bathroom. Great English breakfast served every morning and very helpful staff.

the staff, food and cleanliness are what makes this property worth the stay. The food was excellent quality, the rooms were super clean, its easy to get into oxford from there and the above all else the staff went above and beyond. Wonderful stay and would go again if visiting oxford thank you

The room was fantastic. Loved the little touches like the high end toiletries and the linen and the bed was very comfortable. The downstairs areas look a bit tired in comparison and the food was not as exciting as expected. Staff were friendly and helpful.

As our son lives nearby my wife and i have stayed before and also been in regularly for drinks and found every experience a good one. Staff are aways so polite and helpful. Rooms are excellent and breakfast also excellent. My wife very impressed with the vegetarian breakfast as few places get this right. We have already booked to stsy again

Great place to stay and eat near to the Churchill Hospital where I was working for a couple of days. Very friendly welcome when I arrived and the room was comfortable and well furnished. If I have a small complaint it's a bit dark so reading wasn't that easy. I ate there both nights and by and large the food was VERY good. Shower was hot and breakfast choice was good although some fruit would have been good. All the staff were very personable so I have no hesitation in recommending the Black Boy to anyone.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Sarah. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Parking is available but arrive early-limited. Smallish room but was fine for one night. Public transportation to Oxford nearby.

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Black Boy. Both rooms were clean and had everything we needed; comfy beds, coffee/tea and friendly staff. We enjoyed a full English breakfast (not included in the room price) and a lovely dinner. The food was excellent. We were lucky to secure a parking spot right in front of the Inn; be aware that parking is limited. This was a perfect place to stay and explore Oxford; the neighborhood was quiet and away from the busy city. We enjoyed a walk after dinner in the quaint neighborhood. Highly recommend staying here!
