We really enjoyed our stay. The Inn is on a fairly busy road, which means it's easy to find with loads of parking - but most of the better known walks are a drive away. We ate at the restaurant both nights as it was so delicious and the team was lovely and welcoming too. Great ambiance and lovely management.

There was little or no noise from the pub. The only noise near my room was other guests arriving and departing. Parking was no problem. Staff were very pleasant and, due to them, I was able to get my head down in good time as I had been up all the previous night. This was followed by a very sound night's sleep. Breakfast was perfectly adequate for me (cereal and toast). The evening meal I had booked was again perfectly satisfactory. For my one night's stay, the experience was fine.

Great space for parking, superb home cooked food - a plateful at very reasonable prices. Great Wainwright's beer. Comfortable rooms and a warm welcome from the publicans and their dogs. We'll be back

Lovely friendly pub. Accommodation was very good. If you want frills not the place for you. If you want lovely friendly atmosphere and good home made breakfast and evening meals definitely recommend 👌

Lovely cosy inn with great views over the Dales. Comfortable clean room, food quality and service excellent. Fabulous breakfast loved the locally sourced bacon. Although situated on the A615 rooms well sound proofed you wouldn’t know it was there! Same applies to the dining room and bar. Spacious garden to sit out in and lose yourself with the view. Great hosts wouldn’t hesitate staying again!

We were welcomed and the room was clean and the beds really comfortable, nice walk from the door but also lots of gorgeous quaint villages within short drives. The food was good and no issue with parking at all.

The property is situated in a beautiful location handy for Bakewell and Buxton. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy although the pillows were not great. There was lots of storage for our things. The bathroom was also a good size but I was disappointed to find a couple of long black hairs on the floor! The staff were pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was plentiful and we also are there in the evening whi h was tasty and good value for money. There is plenty of parking space.

Warm welcome with lovely staff who never seemed to sleep(!) but always served with a smile. The menu had a good selection of dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed the homemade food which was tasty and generous in portion size. The spiced plum crumble was amazing and we were told they were homegrown plums! The room was lovely and exactly what we wanted. Everything was clean and neat. We loved our stay and would happily return. Highly recommended.

People were welcoming, but facilities were not luxury as stated. Toilet in ensuite not great, blocked very easily. Room not cleaned or coffee/tea replenished during my stay. Cooked breakfast was good but choices very limited if you didn’t want cooked.

Overall we had a lovely stay. Rooms are clean although a little dated. Curtains could do with blackout lining as outside security light on all night. No smart tv in the room. Food was great and hospitality top notch!

Clean and comfortable, friendly welcome, good food. Ideal in the recent hot weather as the stone built building kept the rooms cool! I’ll hopefully be back with my dog.

Wonderful stay, was welcomed and shown to the room, beautiful area and access for great walks. They were very accommodating to the fact we had a super early start one day so we would miss breakfast, however they had prepared a lovely packed lunch for us whilst out for the day. Breakfast the next day was super tasty. Room was very clean and not slept like that for a very long time.

Amazing views. Lovely pub with log burner. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower needed a bit more power. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious and very reasonable.

The Jug and Glass was great, we enjoyed our 2 night stay very much. The food is good and the owners are very pleasent and helpful. The room had everything you needed, spotlessly clean and to say it was a Doggy guest room too, you couldnt tell , no smells or pet hair. We had a nice room and could park our vintage car right outside the window, which was great for peace of mind overnight. We havent any complaints as such, just personal prefs which mean nothing really but we found the bed a bit hard and the air con in the bathroom is really noisy. Overall an excellent place to stay with your Dogs.

Adjacent to a main road, but no disturbances for sleep with the rooms to the rear of the pub. Enjoyed the well presented food. Lovely fish & chips. Slight issue over lasagne, quickly remedied/replaced. Excellent cooked breakfast. Good quality ingredients. Very good value, would recommend and probably return if in area again.

Very comfortable and clean room, attractive decor, super bed. Quiet, as we were not facing the main road. Excellent and very reasonable pub grub type food. Cooked breakfast very good but disappointed no fresh fruit was available. Business like service. Great centre for walking breaks in gorgeous countryside.

Excellent breakfast cooked to order - great tea and coffee Bedroom was nicely laid out, well appointed; mattress a bit too soft - rather heavy duvet for summer - nice coffee set up in room.

Fantastic B&B, I stayed in room 6 which had a view of fields, the room was lovely and clean, the staff were very helpful and the food was fabulous. Only fault (very small one) was the shower head needed replacing, it still worked but was slightly broken.

The mattress was lumpy and hard. Terrible sleep both nights. pillows hard and flat The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. It was a full English OR a bowl of cereal! The guests are expected to have exactly the combination on the menu!! Requested poached eggs on toast…refused. Even though it would have saved them money. Husband was still dressing and when I asked if he could choose his juice when he arrived I was told no…now or not at all!! Sausage was very cheap quality. Everything else luke warm. Did not bother on second morning. They do not replace tea and milk in room. If we could have gone elsewhere for 2nd night we would have. Everywhere else was booked up!

We really enjoyed our stay. The Inn is on a fairly busy road, which means it's easy to find with loads of parking - but most of the better known walks are a drive away. We ate at the restaurant both nights as it was so delicious and the team was lovely and welcoming too. Great ambiance and lovely management.

Owners and staff were welcoming and the room was spacious, full facilities, warm. Approx 9 miles from Buxton, a rural but convenient for access. Adjacent to a main road, but no disturbances for sleep with the rooms to the rear of the pub. Enjoyed the well presented food. Lovely fish & chips. Slight issue over lasagne, quickly remedied/replaced. Excellent cooked breakfast. Good quality ingredients. Very good value, would recommend and probably return if in area again.

Though we only stayed for one night, we were massively impressed by the accommodation and the general service offered. In addition to its perfect location, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were impeccably friendly and the whole place had a wonderful homely feel to it. Also, the food - for what it's worth - was scrum-diddly-umptious. Would certainly recommend.

Warm welcome with lovely staff who never seemed to sleep(!) but always served with a smile. The menu had a good selection of dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed the homemade food which was tasty and generous in portion size. The spiced plum crumble was amazing and we were told they were homegrown plums! The room was lovely and exactly what we wanted. Everything was clean and neat. We loved our stay and would happily return. Highly recommended.

The mattress was lumpy and hard. Terrible sleep both nights. pillows hard and flat The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. It was a full English OR a bowl of cereal! The guests are expected to have exactly the combination on the menu!! Requested poached eggs on toast…refused. Even though it would have saved them money. Husband was still dressing and when I asked if he could choose his juice when he arrived I was told no…now or not at all!! Sausage was very cheap quality. Everything else luke warm. Did not bother on second morning. They do not replace tea and milk in room. If we could have gone elsewhere for 2nd night we would have. Everywhere else was booked up!

Very comfortable and clean room, attractive decor, super bed. Quiet, as we were not facing the main road. Excellent and very reasonable pub grub type food. Cooked breakfast very good but disappointed no fresh fruit was available. Business like service. Great centre for walking breaks in gorgeous countryside.

Excellent breakfast cooked to order - great tea and coffee Bedroom was nicely laid out, well appointed; mattress a bit too soft - rather heavy duvet for summer - nice coffee set up in room.

Overall we had a lovely stay. Rooms are clean although a little dated. Curtains could do with blackout lining as outside security light on all night. No smart tv in the room. Food was great and hospitality top notch!

The location is great and the countryside scenery is beautiful. There is a large free car park and check in was easy. The room was nicely decorated. The bar area was a little dated but quirky and cosy. I did however feel that it was mis-advertised on hotels.com as it clearly states "housekeeping (daily)". There wasn't any housekeeping and the room wasn't cleaned throughout our stay, nor was anything replenished which was disappointing. One tiny plastic shower gel bottle is not sufficient for 2 people staying for 2 nights! Towels should be changed and coffee/milk should be topped up. There was a file in the room that stated not to leave the radiators on "as they didn't want to heat the whole of Derbyshire" which I thought was just entertainment from a jokey type of host but upon meeting them I realised they were serious and weren't particularly friendly or hospitable! This place has so much potential but I did feel that the service was a bit unfriendly.

3 night stay over Easter. Pub was clean and comfortable although bed mattress was very firm which meant disturbed sleep for stay. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast was 8-9am which I felt was a little early as we usually like to have a lazy wake up without having to have alarm on so wasnt as relaxing as we would have liked. Breakfast was good but simple so would not have wanted to stay any longer. 1 or 2 nights at the most. No fruit or alternatives and not asked if we preferred eggs cooked differently. Room info said to ask for more tea bags etc but not toiletries so felt that was a little odd for a 3 night stay. Fortunately we had some of our own so what was there was enough for one of us. Lighting in room though was poor as one ceiling light which was dim and a tiny bedside lamp which was no good for reading. Good base for walks in the Dales so overall recommended for exploring. Was pleasantly surprised of the local village of Hartington.
