We came here for a quick one day/night getaway. We anticipated a nice room and a nice spa experience and a good on-site meal so we didn’t have to leave the hotel. There was nothing to let us know when we booked the hotel for Tuesday night stay that the restaurant is only open 4pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday through Sunday. So never a breakfast or a lunch ever and only dinner is offered Wednesday through Thursday. We had to drive a ways to eat a nice dinner and then desert and coffee later. It’s a very nice place but you will be disappointed come here if you’re expecting it to be a 100% destination location. It could be , but it’s not. We can’t even critique the food because they weren’t even open for us to give it a try. Hotel is very nice, spa experience is nice , the place is clean, staff is friendly. It’s lacking amenities.

At over $300 a night at a boutique hotel that was not full you have a certain level of expectancy. It was not met. Room was clean and cute. Had to call twice for wasp nests on balcony, day two none of our keys worked. Ordered drinks for by the pool, no one came to check on us to see if we needed anymore. My girlfriend signed up for a facial in the spa, no one showed up for her appointment. We asked for more coffee for the room front desk gal said to come pick it up. Felt like I was at motel 6

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would absolutely return! The pool was a highlight—perfect for swimming laps and spacious enough for our kids to play and have fun. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, with more than enough space for our family of four to spread out and relax. While the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, the staff was incredibly helpful in suggesting nearby spots that worked well for our family. The on-site restaurant serves dinner from 4 to 10 PM (if I recall correctly) and, though more of a pub-style setting, the food was delicious and satisfying after a day of travel and activity. We also appreciated the option for a late checkout at a small additional fee, which gave our kids one last swim before we headed home. It was the perfect way to end our trip—pool time, a quick shower, and a smooth departure. Next time, we’re planning to try out the spa services too!

Bathtub was filthy had to go buy cleaner bleach to clean it as I was set up in room and I was tired to move... sheets were stained ... purchased a sleeping bag to sleep on bed .. next day I notified hotel and nothing was done as they promised they would changed the bed lines and clean bathroom. I did not even get cleaning service for the day! ended up moving to another room that evening. After a long tired day at work!

It's easy to see that the property was once a low end motel. They have made some great upgrades, especially with the grounds and pool area. The rooms could be a lot cleaner. The floors needed to be swept and mopped, our socks and feet were constantly dirty with visible debris from prior guests on the floor. As we walked into the room there was a dirty Q-tip lying on the dresser, which was less than appealing. The restaurant was not open on the days we were there but it wasn't too big of a deal for us. The staff was kind and helpful. Photos of property are fantastic, actual property doesn't quite match.

Room was very nice and spacious. The bed was a bit hard for me and squeaky (like the bottom frame is loose) but it did not bother my husband. The property was very nice and there are a lot of places to go have breakfast or dinner.

The description of the view isn’t what we saw unless we walked to the main building. Our building was closest to the highway. The bed in our room (536) snapped and cracked loudly just sitting on it as well as when I turned over. The vinyl chairs were peeling and I originally thought it was supposed to have that rustic look.

Beautiful room and buildings! Love the stone floors and rustic accents. The dining room/restaurant is lovely. The pool area is very pretty and I love the view over the town. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. The front desk in particular was extremely professional, friendly, and helpful - big shout out to Jenny, she is an asset to the team!

Our family and friends have been staying at the the Hillside Boutique Hotel for years. We have been there through its transition to what it is today. We always enjoyed our stay until this last visit. The water was shut off without warning. The guests were not informed and when I called the front desk the clerk's attitude was unprofessional. Only stating that the city turned it off without notice and they didn't know when it was coming back on (they also did not give a courtesy call when it was back on). That's it. This was a major inconvenience and affected our ability to fully use the room. There was no offer of a credit or adjustment to the bill. I left my name with the clerk and she said she would let the manager know. Since I have not been contacted (and don't wish to be anymore), I will no longer be staying at this hotel. Management should train the employees on professionalism and how to better handle these situations.

At over $300 a night at a boutique hotel that was not full you have a certain level of expectancy. It was not met. Room was clean and cute. Had to call twice for wasp nests on balcony, day two none of our keys worked. Ordered drinks for by the pool, no one came to check on us to see if we needed anymore. My girlfriend signed up for a facial in the spa, no one showed up for her appointment. We asked for more coffee for the room front desk gal said to come pick it up. Felt like I was at motel 6

This hotel is actually a motel and it has been remodeled pretty well. However, it is fairly overpriced for the area and although it has a nice restaurant and bar, you better go early since the latest they are open is 9:00pm and they want you out at that time. We arrived at 8:45 and were told the bar was closed by the female bar tender. The restaurant was willing to serve us but the bar tender refused and was quite rude. We traveled in to volunteer for an organization in the area and we will not come and stay here again on future trips. Danny who is a waiter in the restaurant was unbelievably kind and accommodating. He made extra efforts which we so appreciated and he tried so hard to make up for the rude bartenders behavior. Thanks Danny!

Absolutely love this hotel , the view from the balcony is beautiful and the place it self is beautiful. Staff is very sweet and respectful! . Would absolutely come again for just wanting to get out the house .

The staff provided great customer service before out reservation by answering questions. They were also helpful during our stay by giving suggestions to local things to do and places to eat. Everyone was friendly and professional.

My Mom, a "new" local, provided lodging at the Hillside because her historic home nearby is still under renovation. My room was near busy Hwy 90 but was quiet and very comfortable. The stone floors are a nice touch as are the clean-lined furnishings with the simplest nod to Castroville's French heritage. Check in was flawless and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hillside.

We’ve been staying at this location for years. They did a good job on the remodel several years ago and I really like the style. However, I couldn’t help but notice this place is starting to show its age again during this stay. Mostly on the exterior. Also the traffic seems to be getting heavier and louder around HWY 90 nowadays. Not the fault of the hotel but something to consider. Otherwise we had a good stay.

Nice valley view. Hotel located on a hill overlooking the valley. Nice upscale, suprisingly priced. Hidden gem in small town. We did not use the pool but it over looked the valley as well. There is an event venue at location as well.

We came here for a quick one day/night getaway. We anticipated a nice room and a nice spa experience and a good on-site meal so we didn’t have to leave the hotel. There was nothing to let us know when we booked the hotel for Tuesday night stay that the restaurant is only open 4pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday through Sunday. So never a breakfast or a lunch ever and only dinner is offered Wednesday through Thursday. We had to drive a ways to eat a nice dinner and then desert and coffee later. It’s a very nice place but you will be disappointed come here if you’re expecting it to be a 100% destination location. It could be , but it’s not. We can’t even critique the food because they weren’t even open for us to give it a try. Hotel is very nice, spa experience is nice , the place is clean, staff is friendly. It’s lacking amenities.

The reason I gave 4 stars even though everything was perfect, is because that there was no breakfast available. The restaurant opens at 11am and closes at 7pm. This made our stay a little inconvenient especially with kids.

It was great, we loved the character and charm throughout the property. My husband is a balcony guy, loves spending time outside the various hotels, etc. where we stay. However, we have encountered so many balconies or porches that we have to clean ourselves including the table and chairs and unfortunately we had to do the cleaning here too. I still gave five stars because overall it was wonderful. We do plan on returning.

On the website they post the main entrance, pool, and updates rooms. Most rooms have an exterior motel like door facing the parking lot. Rooms were big and spacious. Could be cleaner in the corners of the room and dirt in the tile floor. Shower is outdated and shower head does not have good pressure. Staff was helpful and polite.
