Spark by Hilton Salem East Electric Road

Bed was hard as a rock, pillows flat and an odor of some chemical in the room that irritated my sinuses all night.

Huge disappointment. Hilton needs to do something about this place as it is so below any Hilton standard that I've seen. The hotel is clearly in some sort of transition and some of the common areas were filthy - elevator was disgusting, stairs were dirty and hallways not clean. The elevator did not function properly to the degree guests avoided it and climbed stairs out of concern of getting stuck in the elevator. It was taking up to 2-3 minutes for the door to close. Upon attempting to open the door to the suite, the door was jammed and I was unable to open it. The attendant went back to the room with me and instructed me to "shoulder" the door hard in order for it to open. Once I did that, it was obvious that the locking mechanism was in terrible shape and needed to be replaced. The guest room was cleaner, however there were paint splattered on tile floors and the HVAC in the suite's outer room was not fully operational. It was a very large living room with barely any furniture in it and no TV. The shower was great and would have been much better had there been body soap in the dispenser. Showering with shampoo is not a preferred modality. The ice room was totally empty on 2nd floor. The breakfast was a total bust. The bagels were very stale, and the breakfast options were very poor. It was one of the worse experiences I've had in a hotel. I have been using Hilton properties for years and this was the worst I've seen. I do not recommend this property at all.

97 degrees the day I check in but room was roasting hot as ac was not on, took several hours to cool. Towel rack fell on ground when I tried to hang a towel on it. Soap dispenser in shower was empty, no ice buckets. Tissue box was empty. I called morning of my flight to Roanoke to have sofa bed made for my son, it was not. Checked in at 10pm

I would not recommend stay here. Not even if you are an employee of the local hospital and need somewhere to stay for one night.
