The exterior was tired and required attention. Areas were overgrown with shrubs..broken outside table with tape around to prevent being sat on, however it looked dreadful. In the dining area the table was very sticky. The staff though were very attentive and polite so we thank you for that.

I have stayed here a few times now and on this occasion I stayed in room 6. It was incredibly hot, even with the heating off and window open and to add to that with the window open the kitchen fans outside would come on, along with the odd employee having a break outside and chatting and this was at around 10pm, so could be disruptive from a noise point of view. However, the place is very clean, comfy beds, food is excellent, as is the service. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Easy parking on site and you feel secure at the location.

The hotel is located in a quiet village. Inside it has many nice period features. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar area is relaxed and food is well prepared and offers good options. Food and wine were reasonably priced. Rooms are well equiped and of a good size.

Clean rooms, lots of parking and a good location . Definitely worth the price for the rooms but the food overall was not good . Shame as it's a pretty pub but the food really let it down.

We stayed one night at this delightful pub - we dined at the hotel restaurant and the meal and service was excellent - room was a luxury superior room and it was really nice - plenty of room for luggage and very quiet - bed was very comfortable and well appointed - - free off street parking supplied - enjoyed our stay

We booked The Chequers Inn as were meeting up with family over Xmas. Between us all we booked 7 rooms. We were late checking in as had travelled down & were meeting family elsewhere first. Despite the lateness there were no issues & we checked in quickly. Very happy with my room, clean, attractive & comfortable. We had drinks in one of the lounge rooms and service was speedy & friendly. Breakfast was good. Would happily return aa was a lovely place.

Parking was great, service for food in the evening was absolutely terrible. The restaurant only had one chef on. Waited 1 hour 50 before i had to go up and ask for my starter which was chicken strips. Not one of the staff members come up to me and apologise about the situation. I ended cancelling my food and not eating in there again on my 3 night stay. ive also asked for a vat invoice which i still havent got. Rooms are good overall.

Lovely little pub hotel with a lot of history. The room was clean the bathroom was large with a wonderful bathtub. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Only downside of the stay was the food, as part of a chain the meals are all instant or microwave options which, though arrive very fast and hot just don't compete with something made fresh.

The room was too small for the number of nights we were there. However, the staff kept it clean and serviced daily. Our room was on the ground floor so we did not have to climb stairs with our luggage. That was a plus.

The superior room was large and spacious but we found the bed rather hard. A box of tissues in the bathroom or bedroom would have been appreciated. We were surprised that the room was not made up after our first night (i.e. bed not made.) Food was OK. Help was offered promptly with getting the suitcase up to and down from the room as there is no lift and we cannot manage suitcases on stairs.

Pleasant room, well decorated and clean. The breakfast was very good, full English. The staff were very polite and friendly, particularly the young man behind the bar, who was very helpful. The only minus was the fact our room (4) was far too hot. The heating wasn’t on, so we’ve no idea where the heat was coming from. We both slept on top of the bed with the window open.

Room was far TOO HOT because of hot water pipes running under the floor. Noisy refrigeration unit outside the window - which we needed to have open to try and cool the room down a little. Shower was not high enough for me (6 foot 2)

The hotel looked respectfull and had good size car park at rear. We had room in coach house ,which is on back ,by the car park. Our problem was squeaky and noisy flors above us. People from upstairs room came back to room.at1.30 am and woke us up. We had very poor night sleep .We could hear everything ,every step they made,etc. I think there is not any sound isolation at all ,especially on ceiling. We joked that hotel manager should spend night in coach house Nr16 with people above head. Then may be problems could be sorted. I would not advice to stay in coach house, unless you are absolutely desperate. At least not in downstairs rooms. Arturs Groza .

I ended cancelling my food and not eating in there again on my 3 night stay. ive also asked for a vat invoice which i still havent got. Rooms are good overall.

Lovely old building had a huge superior suite. The property is a little run down and the cooked breakfast could be better(not a reflection on the Chef but the poor quality of the ingredients). All in all a well managed friendly hotel with beautiful villages and country walks in close proximity.

I have stayed here a few times now and on this occasion I stayed in room 6. It was incredibly hot, even with the heating off and window open and to add to that with the window open the kitchen fans outside would come on, along with the odd employee having a break outside and chatting and this was at around 10pm, so could be disruptive from a noise point of view. However, the place is very clean, comfy beds, food is excellent, as is the service. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Easy parking on site and you feel secure at the location.

The hotel is located in a quiet village. Inside it has many nice period features. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar area is relaxed and food is well prepared and offers good options. Food and wine were reasonably priced. Rooms are well equiped and of a good size.

Clean rooms, lots of parking and a good location . Definitely worth the price for the rooms but the food overall was not good . Shame as it's a pretty pub but the food really let it down.

Lovely little pub hotel with a lot of history. The room was clean the bathroom was large with a wonderful bathtub. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Only downside of the stay was the food, as part of a chain the meals are all instant or microwave options which, though arrive very fast and hot just don't compete with something made fresh.

We stayed one night at this delightful pub - we dined at the hotel restaurant and the meal and service was excellent - room was a luxury superior room and it was really nice - plenty of room for luggage and very quiet - bed was very comfortable and well appointed - - free off street parking supplied - enjoyed our stay

Parking was great, service for food in the evening was absolutely terrible. The restaurant only had one chef on. Waited 1 hour 50 before i had to go up and ask for my starter which was chicken strips. Not one of the staff members come up to me and apologise about the situation. We stayed in the Coach House (separate building away from the pub) and the noise from the room above was quite bad with people walking around on the squeaky floorboards. We had dinner in the pub the first night and my partner had the hunter's chicken which was almost inedible as it was so overcooked and dry that he left half of it. Unfortunately, the mattress was quite soft which didn't help our backs.

You need sharp eyesight to see the hotel as it's right on the roundabout. It was perfectly placed for where we needed to be the next day. Parking was not a problem. The room was an odd shape and in need of new carpet. The doors are fire doors and they really did Bang shut every time someone came in our out of the coach house. The staff were Friendly and very helpful without being intrusive . The tables in the restaurant felt sticky which slightly puts you off although the meals were good. Breakfast set us up for the day it was excellent.

Stay overall was okay. Staff were nice enough and helpful just often difficult to locate at times. Hotel rooms in coach house outside were on the face of it nice. But then you quickly realise they are riddled with spiders and spider webs. Could also hear what sounded like rodents scratching through the night. The coach house is very old and I think this may add to the challenges. The wooden beams in areas were stuffed with loo roll where in were large spider nests and lots of webs. The food was actually good and decent selection of drinks. Parking is fine. Room other than huge amount of spiders webs and rodents were nice enough. I think it just must be a challenge for the age of the coach house possibly. Can’t speak for other rooms.
