Negative: The common tile, walkways and elevators in building very dirty and appear not mopped in ages. The room well appointed but extremely dark! The pool is in need of work. Umbrellas and lounge chairs stained. Pool decking dirty. One hot tub with only half jets working and dingy plaster and broken tiles. Despite the resort being so large not flexible at all in accommodating late check out. Positive: Our waiter at Marisella was phenomenal as were the whole staff. Billy and Zach at the valet station were terrific and so helpful and friendly.

Beautiful resort with a lot to do. The spa was really nice and so was the gym. The property and the room itself were very clean. Staff was very warm and welcoming. They do provide transportation throughout the property which was also nice and convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Daily parking fee $70, daily resort fee $55, to use the steam room at the gym $45/day. The hotel is next to a crude oil processing factory, your ocean view is an oil rig, if you walk on the beach you will have tar on your feet. I daily drive a Ferrari, I don't mind paying for comfort, but this place is a nickel and dime tourist trap. Santa Barbara is beautiful, many other hotels have nicer grounds and won't make you feel as if you are being robbed while you sleep.

I loved the club lounge, fitness center, and spa. Staff members in the lounge were very welcoming and attentive and made it well worth the additional daily cost for access. The fitness center had everything we needed and the manicure I received at the spa was beautiful. The property itself is gorgeous and I especially loved walking the trail to the public beach that's just below the property. I'd highly recommend. :)

The property was outstanding! Not a typical hotel. The units were spread out through meandering walkways with gorgeous landscapes. The gym was state of the art & the pools were very nice. The food and service was great!

Nice resort overall. The property itself is beautiful, and the pool areas are very nice. One downside was the spa access—specifically the sauna and steam room—which costs an additional $45 per day. Given the nightly rate, I would have expected these amenities to be included rather than an extra charge. Unfortunately, our bedroom had a leaking AC unit, which was disappointing. That said, the staff handled it well and waived both the parking and resort fees, which felt like a fair resolution. But again, for the nightly rate being what it is, I expect the rooms at the very least to be 100% functional.

There is nearly no service, slippers was running out for the two whole days when we stayed. The golf car waiting time is quite long time. The room is smaller than it shows on the picture. The ocean view is half and blocked. The price is pretty expensive and it doesn’t worth that. They over charge me $500. I need to call them even I still on travel. The carpet is dirty. The room smells ugly. The service always quite late. The most efficient service coming soon was when you check out.the restaurants has to wait for long time. The swimming pool is not kid friendly the water is too deep for children.

Unfortunately Marriott has got their culture intergrated into what was once a family owned five star property . The exterior is not being maintained, most windows have peeling paint etc. Our room had no mini bar, no slippers, one bathrobe and one floor mat for two separate vanities and no umbrellas ( it rained the whole stay ). Our in-laws room had no minibar , two pairs of slippers , two umbrellas , one wash cloth to share and no hand towels at all. Food at the bistro was bland at best and was served by a trio of youngsters aged 20 at the most and never brought the starters, came out with all the entrees first. There were a total of five tables dining. Breakfast on the first morning was over and hour and a half wait. Told to order room service from QR code next to phone in room - yup no QR code in room. General incompetence throughout and cost cutting everywhere. Paid $1300 a night.

The Ritz ground is beautiful and peaceful. What stood out was how the rooms were worn and needed upgrading; one of the sinks was cracked, and the couch had a rip. They didn't even bother turning it over, so it didn't show. Disappointed in that aspect of my Ritz stay. On a positive note, the restaurant staff at Angel Oak (Rafael), San Setto (Omar), the Bistro (Connor), and the spa staff (Sally, Sitte) were exceptional! They exemplified the Ritz experience.

This property was okay, a little older than I expected it to be, the showers and the room needed a bit of TLC. The proerty grounds were pretty though along with the pool. The service was great, friendly staff, i would stay here again but for the price, the rooms need some renovation.

Despite the resort being so large not flexible at all in accommodating late check out. Positive: Our waiter at Marisella was phenomenal as were the whole staff. Billy and Zach at the valet station were terrific and so helpful and friendly.

The staff is very professional and friendly. My only complain is the condition of the hotel itself. The rooms are outdated and the property does not feel like a 5 star hotel. For the price of the room, I would probably stay somewhere else next time.

I arrived and left feeling disappointed. My first stay at this brand and not at all the experience I expected from a Ritz Carlton property. For the price, I felt my room was very dated and gave off a strange vibe. Maybe it was the wall of shutters between bathroom and bedroom. And shutters on the bathroom door without a fan. There was a major lack of privacy within my own room as well as adjoining rooms. It just felt gross to have walls that people can hear each other through. The property itself is beautiful, but it is secluded and if you want to venture out, you’ll need to drive. It’s valet only and an additional premium per night. Have lots of cash on hand to tip valet guys as you come and go. It’s not relaxing and peaceful as far as noise. It’s great for families with kids and those who want to bring their dogs. You won’t have to be worried about them making too much noise. I expect to pay a premium when staying at a luxury hotel, but I don’t think they are justified in charging me what they did in my personal experience. I wish I would’ve booked elsewhere.

We stayed in the suite with an ocean view and open bathroom with tub & fireplace. The people were more than helpful and very friendly and professional. We pulled in to the court area, they directed our car to park, remove luggage, delivered to room, shuttled us around the complete complex making recommendations, make sure we had ice. Food was excellently serviced and tasty. Was it pricey, yes, but they are worth every penny. We will go again next year.

This property was okay, a little older than I expected it to be, the showers and the room needed a bit of TLC. The proerty grounds were pretty though along with the pool. The service was great, friendly staff, i would stay here again but for the price, the rooms need some renovation.

We had an amazing stay at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara. The property is stunning—peaceful, safe, and beautifully maintained. Our room was spacious and super comfortable, with a great bed and luxurious linens. We especially loved how quiet the area was at night, which made it easy to relax and get good sleep. Parking was super easy, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food on-site was excellent, and we really appreciated the variety of dining options nearby too. The location feels secluded but still close to shopping and restaurants, which was perfect. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. We’d definitely come back!

Wow . I don’t usually leave a comment but I had to this time . This was the worst bed and pillows I have ever had . Then there are the golf carts . They never stop going all day and night . This is a 5 star hotel and I give it a 3!!!! Be careful if you expect this to be nice . You will be disappointed .

We love the Bacara. Our ocean view room was lovely and the restaurant was delicious. We had excellent service at the valet, front desk and the restaurant. However, like many businesses, it seemed they were somewhat understaffed. We checked in at mid-night and we saw now one else checking in, yet it took three phone calls and 45 minutes to get our bags (two small carry ons) which we should have carried to the room ourselves as it was very frustrating waiting for them when we were so ready to just go to sleep.

Nothing worked- toilets People walking into our room without knocking. My wife was bathing with our son and a man walked in without any notice. Tried to report to the hotel GM and no one could get us connected with one. It was a very poor experience. Best they could do is "report with security". Had maintenance team try to enter late at night without us having requested it. Housekeeper just entered 3x without making herself known. It was hard to justify the charges and stay here. Valet also never had our car ready ontime despite requesting it ahead of time. Food was awful. Such a shame. We really wanted to love this place but was shocked at the entire thing...

Terrible stay! I was charged $294 at Angel Oak (their restaurant) and I didn't even eat there. Ac didnt work either. This is theft and will be reported as such. When I got ready to check out thats when I noticed the charge on my bill. I asked the front desk to immediately take it off and give me a copy of the updated bill. I checked my bank account the day after I checked out and the charge is showing up there. This resulted in my account to go into the negative. I almost couldn't get home due to the lack of funds for this fraudulent charge. When you call the hotel nobody answers the billing line to help you. I had to call several times and speak to a manager named Daniela who told me the charge was in progress and could not be stopped. She said it would take a least 3-5 business days for the charge to be removed. I told her this was completely unacceptable and that they needed to look at the cameras in their restaurant and on the property to see who did this charge. My bank said the hotel could stop the charge but the hotel didnt bother to do it. To say that I am livid is an understatement. Someone needs to be fired behind this. They had the nerve to tell me someone signed the bill, it obviously wasn't me. I was staying at the hotel so how does 1 person eat 294$ worth of dinner???? I was in downtown Santa Barbara on that day and have the uber and dinner receipt to prove it. The kid working at the front desk was completely useless with his passive aggressive attitude

Adult pool wait staff sat in corner instead of picking up trash around pool and checking on guests. Had to call front desk at 5 pm to get our room cleaned up. Daily parking fee $70, daily resort fee $55, to use the steam room at the gym $45/day. The hotel is next to a crude oil processing factory, your ocean view is an oil rig, if you walk on the beach you will have tar on your feet. I daily drive a Ferrari, I don't mind paying for comfort, but this place is a nickel and dime tourist trap. Santa Barbara is beautiful, many other hotels have nicer grounds and won't make you feel as if you are being robbed while you sleep.

Very steep rocky entry to beach (I hurt myself climbing back up) and not enough signage to know you have returned to property entrance. Very odd. Marijuana smell from the outside walkway of my room in 17 block in the evening. Room service selection very limited compared to other high caliber hotels. Gift shop very limited sundries. Staff all around mostly all very pleasant.

Too far away from town of Santa Barbara. The hotel is very large, lots of people, crowded pool area. Weddings and parties all weekend. Food was average and expensive. Check in was chaotic and frustrating. The Ritz is no longer exclusive IMO.

The property is beautiful and the staff is professional. The rooms could use an upgrade, but they're not bad. We'd certainly stay again. The restaurants were fantastic. Just note the cigar bar, and kids activities are usually Thu-sunday, we were there early in the week so we couldn't experience those.

First 2 days were amazing. Then on the third day we ordered food. In the burger was plastic from the cheese. All they said was sorry about that. Then we requested the room clean. Never happened. Also completely forgot part of the order. Day we went to check out. Was raining. Asked for help. Never came. Called the desk. Never answered. For the ammount paid feels like should be more done when something goes wrong. Sorry to hear that just doesn’t seem like a good answer.

The Ritz Bacara is beautiful. Driving in to the courtyard and being greeted immediately. Valet, bell service and check-in were a breeze and set the tone for relaxation and ease. Tiana was delightful. Our room was lovely. We took advantage of all 4 restaurants on property and were spoiled at all of them. Grant at San Setto, Dulce and Lucy at the Bistro, Joe at Angel Oak and Claire at the O Bar. Could not have had better service and the menus are diverse, the food is fantastic. We also enjoyed a cigar and cocktail at the Cohiba lounge. Kalad was gracious and the music was spot on. Yvonne delighted us with our wine flights at the on site wine bar. One of our favorite trips ever !!!!

Nice hotel for the views, but you will spend 95% of your time walking around a giant outdoor maze trying to find where to go if you go look for food or leave for any reason, and this is coming from actively fit people who have no problem doing 20k steps in a day. And if you want to get to your car you paid $100/night valet parking for, it's impossible because of massive crowds of people leaving at the same time. Room service also billed my credit card when I paid the delivery guy in cash (with a nice tip too) So I have to go out of my way to call them and make a claim. The room service food was absolutely terrible, we took one bite and said no. We left after one night.

This property does not live up to the Ritz-Carlton brand. Trash cans around the property were overflowing each day. The restrooms at the pool were filthy, out of paper & towels, toilets clogged. Very inexperienced staff. Apparently no on-site management of basic operations. Will never stay here again....

Ritz-Carlton Bacara used to be a true 5 Star hotel and resort. Sadly, we have watched the conditions deteriorate under the Marrriot management. Gone are the impeccably clean grounds and well maintained rooms. No more quick responsiveness by staff. They seem to be short staffed and the new staff do not get the training that was the marquee of Ritz-Carlton. The roll away bed was absolutely most uncomfortable But have ever experienced. I’m could feel every coil in the mattress. They changed the mattress and the new one was old and sank in the middle. There was no room at the hotel pool. The pool water was not clear. The pasta at Lilia’s was overcooked. Marisela, the nicer Italian restaurant did have good food, though, despite the outrageously high prices the portions now are about 1/3 to 1/4 of what they used to be. All in all, I would say that the hotel has lost its 5-star rating and other than the name it resembles nothing of the Ritz-Carlton standards.

Unparalleled level of service from all staff encountered, but our room’s air conditioning was insufficient in strength. The room temperature never decreased from 74° Fahrenheit to my requested 69°.
