The Lambton

Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Would have been nice to have a shelf or unit of some sort in the bathroom to put things. Quite a lot of shops nearby, excellent bus service even on a Sunday. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

As mentioned at reception the following morning - the toilet flush in the Dukes Room needs seeing to, forgot to mention the window - it needs cleaning.

Location was perfect. 4 min walk from train station and close to all shops, bars and restaurants. Bar in hotel was first class with extremely helpful staff who were always very friendly. Stayed during heatwave so the lack of air con, or a window that would open, were disappointing. Standing fan in room helped but sometimes just blew hot air around. Room in loft so was very hot. Decor/furniture very basic and dated but bed very comfortable. Bathroom needs some tlc - position of shower in bath quite dangerous. Overall, I enjoyed it but was it value for money? No, probably not.

Nice pub with rooms. Very comfortable bed.
