When yiu book thorough hotels.com it advertisies as a superior double with king bed, thats not what you get, yiu get a double bed unless you specifically ask for a king despite the description on here. There is only one king in the hotel. You have to pay for parking, no disabled parking discount offered until i asked as its an additional £10per day per car. Lots of cobwebs, only one towel for 2 people in the room until i asked. Helpful they let you check in early is you can. Breakfast only ok, but good if yiu cant be bothered finding anywhere else. Bus stop right outside whichnis handy to get into the city

Lovely quirky place . Excellent breakfast and lots of choice . Rooms are nicely decorated with comfy beds ( superior rooms) we were at the front . My only issues are the entrance to the rear car park is very tight ! The room was noisy as at the front and very hot hence we had the window open as the roof window and bathroom velux wouldn’t open . Apart from that it was fabulous place to stay whilst we went to the game fair , Justin was so helpful with walkable restaurants all 3 recommend we’re super .

Lovely, comfortable hotel 10 minutes from Oxford city centre by bus with a bus stop right outside. It felt like a safe area with a great selection of restaurants a short walk away. This was our third stay at Galaxie. This time, our room was smaller than the others but still nice. It's a lovely little hotel with parking in the back, a nice conservatory and a distinctly English flair. Think dark paints, vintage furniture, lots of paintings and bric-a-brac scattered throughout. Helpful friendly staff and a great Summer Town location - 20 min walk to downtown and 5 min taxi/bus ride.

Lovely boutique hotel in a perfect location with frequent bus services to the centre from an adjacent stop. The room was modern with a lovely bathroom and decent shower. Breakfast set us up for a day of exploring Oxford's museums and the staff were really welcoming. Parking available on site and a nice garden area too.

On the whole it was good only for one night. I think charging for parking is milking it a bit. The coffee machine didn’t appear to work in the room. But used instant coffee tubes instead. Would have preferred the “real coffee “ We went out for breakfast as that was also chargeable at the hotel. So little things really & not life threatening! Just a bit disappointing.

Have stayed here many times. Staff are always friendly and happy to help. Rooms are quirky and well appointed. Parking is no longer free - but £10 is fine. Easy location to walk to colleges, museums and restaurants. Feels like returning to an eccentric relative’s house!

The hotel is beautiful and unique. My room and bathroom are spacious and clean. Several breakfast items to choose from and the tea is delicious. The staff, especially those that run breakfast, are friendly. The lift is out of service but staff gladly carried luggage to third floor. I would definitely return on my next visit!

I only spent one night. They let me check in early, which was great since I came straight from the US so needed some rest. Room was clean and cozy. It’s well located near shops, restaurants and frequent buses to city center. I would stay again.

The reception was left unmanned and had to wait. Finally received my room and as soon as I walked into the room it smelled of a dirty port a potty. The room was old, stained, and smelled bad. Sheets and pillows looked dirty. I should have paid a little more and stayed at Oxford Central Center area hotels.

Booked for the aesthetic and wasn’t disappointed! The breakfast was delicious and dining area beautiful. My room was just what I needed, though the teacup/saucers were dusty and the electric kettle full of crusty flakes so I unfortunately couldn’t use the in-room tea station. And one of the travel shampoos had already been opened/used in my room. Other than those hiccups, wonderful experience here, would definitely come back.

We stayed at the Galaxie Hotel in Oxford as a family and had a very good experience. When a crib for our baby wasn’t available, the staff immediately upgraded us to a larger room to make our stay more comfortable. This thoughtful gesture really made a difference for us. The room was clean, the service attentive, and the location convenient. We truly appreciated the extra effort from the hotel team.

This is a gorgeous hotel with plenty of character and a decent location in the North of Oxford, near shops and eateries. As it is a quirky old building, you do hear the footsteps shuffling of your upstairs neighbours, but I would return if ever in town again.

Room not nearly as spacious or as well appointed as advertised in the pictures. Very poor soundproofing both internally between rooms/floors and externally to the road. More like a backpackers lodge.

Hotel is in a good location making it easy to get to the city centre from the bus stop close to the entrance. A small but comfortable room, nothing more was needed for my short stay though. High spec bathroom with a good powerful monsoon shower. The only negative is a lack of blackout curtains to the window, just a roller blind which alllowed a lot of light in

The Galaxie was fine/suitable for a one night stay. The standard room we had was quite small and you could quite clearly hear those on the other side of the wall/in the hallway/in the carpark. The service from the receptionist was also rather lacklustre. But hey, there was paid parking and it was in an alright location (30 minute walk into Oxford but close to parks and the Summertown cafes). Not amazing but adequate.

Beautiful hotel but three problems: first one was that I could hear everything in the hallway and I could only assume anyone can hear anything I do as well. Second was that someone kept slamming their door so hard that my TV shook. Multiple times in the day. I have no idea what their problem was but I wanted to yell at them. Lastly, breakfast ended at 9am which is quite early. Checkout is at 10:30am. So although it was a great hotel, if people are slamming doors and you will miss breakfast if you had any evening plans, it kind of outweighs the nice bits.

Service focused boutique hotel. Andrew on reception was exceptional, couldn't help us enough. Hotel is lovely, fantastic decoration and design, so much to look at it was really fun and quirky. So quirky that for breakfast a toy train runs around the breakfast room. The room was lovely (105) however the double glazing was rubbish and we heard all of the cars going past which woke us early. You can park up, pay and leave your car there and get buses into town centre. No bar but plenty of restaurants and bars in summer town.

Breakfast was well worth upgrading to, excellent service and freshly cooked hot breakfast items and specific things (someone ordered an omelette) made to order. Coffee was good and rather punchy, checkout was easy. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others. Well done to all the team at Galaxie - a great overnight stay, thankyou so much.

Everything was perfect, highly recommended, thanks. The room was new, spacious, great bathroom, comfortable bed. Location super convenient for coming off the ring road and easy to get in to to town - masses of buses, we walked (25 mins). Best of all were the staff: all were beyond excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We even left something in the room and had to go back to get it... it was waiting at reception when we returned. Congratulations to all for an outstanding job.

Have stayed here many times. Staff are always friendly and happy to help. Rooms are quirky and well appointed. Parking is no longer free - but £10 is fine. Easy location to walk to colleges, museums and restaurants. Feels like returning to an eccentric relative’s house!

The hotel is beautiful and unique. My room and bathroom are spacious and clean. Several breakfast items to choose from and the tea is delicious. The staff, especially those that run breakfast, are friendly. The lift is out of service but staff gladly carried luggage to third floor. I would definitely return on my next visit!

Service focused boutique hotel. Andrew on reception was exceptional, couldn't help us enough. Hotel is lovely, fantastic decoration and design, so much to look at it was really fun and quirky. So quirky that for breakfast a toy train runs around the breakfast room. The room was lovely (105) however the double glazing was rubbish and we heard all of the cars going past which woke us early. You can park up, pay and leave your car there and get buses into town centre. No bar but plenty of restaurants and bars in summer town.

When a crib for our baby wasn’t available, the staff immediately upgraded us to a larger room to make our stay more comfortable. This thoughtful gesture really made a difference for us. When yiu book thorough hotels.com it advertisies as a superior double with king bed, thats not what you get, yiu get a double bed unless you specifically ask for a king despite the description on here. There is only one king in the hotel. You have to pay for parking, no disabled parking discount offered until i asked as its an additional £10per day per car. Lots of cobwebs, only one towel for 2 people in the room until i asked. Helpful they let you check in early is you can. Breakfast only ok, but good if yiu cant be bothered finding anywhere else. Bus stop right outside whichnis handy to get into the city

I only spent one night. They let me check in early, which was great since I came straight from the US so needed some rest. Room was clean and cozy. It’s well located near shops, restaurants and frequent buses to city center. I would stay again.

Friendly and helpful staff on check-in. I stayed in room 302 which was a large double room at the back of the property. The bed was extremely comfy and it was lovely and quiet. There is a bus stop right out the hotel which is convenient for catching the bus into the city centre.

This is a gorgeous hotel with plenty of character and a decent location in the North of Oxford, near shops and eateries. As it is a quirky old building, you do hear the footsteps shuffling of your upstairs neighbours, but I would return if ever in town again.

First, the staff are wonderful - friendly and very accommodating. The location is quite convenient for any local shopping or visiting. Summertown is an easy half hour walk from Oxford City Center - or take the bus, of which there are many running throughout the day and evenings. Also, for the four of us, a cab back from city center costs just a bit more than the bus (9 vs 8) We had a twin room on the 3rd floor that was in back - very quiet - and fairly roomy. We would happily book again should we be back.

This is a very nice and unique hotel, true to the pictures. Although the room was small, like most hotels in Europe, it provided the right amount of space and didn't bother me at all. The room was decorated with taste and detail. The hotel is not in downtown, so you either walk for around 30 minutes, which I did most of the time, or you have to take the bus, which is conveniently close to the hotel. The only time I took the bus was when I arrived and left, as I had a carry-on; otherwise, it’s a nice walk to the city center.

The Galaxie was fine/suitable for a one night stay. The standard room we had was quite small and you could quite clearly hear those on the other side of the wall/in the hallway/in the carpark. The service from the receptionist was also rather lacklustre. But hey, there was paid parking and it was in an alright location (30 minute walk into Oxford but close to parks and the Summertown cafes). Not amazing but adequate.

Lovely boutique hotel in a perfect location with frequent bus services to the centre from an adjacent stop. The room was modern with a lovely bathroom and decent shower. Breakfast set us up for a day of exploring Oxford's museums and the staff were really welcoming. Parking available on site and a nice garden area too.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing with lots of fresh fruits and options. The room, though not large, has big enough for us to open our two suitcases. One of the things we really liked about the room was that the ensuite bath had places to put our toiletry bags and hooks for towels and clothing. Very handy! Bus access right out the door made for easy transportation in the city. There are also lots of places to eat nearby as well as stores for groceries.

I reserved a room on Expedia the night before my stay and paid on arrival. I was allocated room 301 as I had reserved a large double room which was advertised as only £1 extra than a double room. The room was at the back of the property overlooking the car park and was very quiet. The bathroom was definitely the best feature of this room as the queen bed advertised was simply two twin beds pushed together. There were no bottles of water or glasses provided which was disappointing. The room was very warm and I slipped fitfully. The best feature of the hotel is definitely the decor which takes you back in time. I paid for breakfast which cost only £10 and had a hearty English breakfast which was excellent value for money. The two guys who were waiting on/serving were very friendly and welcoming. I checked out just after 9am and handed my key back to the guy on reception who didn’t ask me how I found my stay? It took a good 30 minutes to walk back along Banbury Road to Oxford City Centre although there are buses available for those who want a quicker journey time.

On the whole it was good only for one night. I think charging for parking is milking it a bit. The coffee machine didn’t appear to work in the room. But used instant coffee tubes instead. Would have preferred the “real coffee “ We went out for breakfast as that was also chargeable at the hotel. So little things really & not life threatening! Just a bit disappointing.

Beautiful hotel but three problems: first one was that I could hear everything in the hallway and I could only assume anyone can hear anything I do as well. Second was that someone kept slamming their door so hard that my TV shook. Multiple times in the day. I have no idea what their problem was but I wanted to yell at them. Lastly, breakfast ended at 9am which is quite early. Checkout is at 10:30am. So although it was a great hotel, if people are slamming doors and you will miss breakfast if you had any evening plans, it kind of outweighs the nice bits.

It is a very nice and cosy hotel with kind and helpful staff. The rooms are small, but comfortable enough and offer good value for money. The main downside is the location. It is more than a 30-minute walk from the city center, so it is not ideal if you plan to explore the city entirely on foot. However, there are plenty of buses to the center, with bus stops only a 3–5 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for money.

We had an amazing last minute stay at The Galaxie. Whilst there was a £15 charge for parking, was convenient, off the road at the back of this lovely presented and 'quirky' hotel. Enjoyed a really warm and relaxed greeting on arrival and we were shown to our room during which the free pick your own sweet selection was pointed out to us. Our standard double room which, whilst not large, was well decorated with nice furnishings. Breakfast was amazing and very good value with an array of fresh fruit and yoghurts, fresh breads, fresh juices and, even though advertised as continental, also had English cooked breakfast options available. I forgot his name but the man managing the breakfast was amazing and chatty and really knowledgeable about Oxford. A 45 minute walk, on a very hot day, to the centre of Oxford but a relatively short and straightforward bus ride back on a well resourced route. Our overall experience clearly demonstrates the effort this private-owned hotel, managed by the grandchildren of the original owners, put into looking after its guests.

Please, please, please. Do not book this hotel. It was dirty, mouldy Apples with bugs crawling through it. Dirty smelly rooms - with filthy ripped carpets. We could not stay as it was unfold on their website and we are still trying to get our money back.

The staff were friendly and super helpful and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The shower was over a sunken bath which was rather awkward (suggest conversion to a standard shower base). Overall, would recommend as a place to stay.
