Sofitel Barú Cartagena

The hotel is beautiful and perfect for those who are looking to relax since there is nothing to do around it. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet is great with lots of options to choose from. Most of the staff are wonderful and want to help you aside from some of the front desk staff. Arranging transportation with them was a nightmare. Booked transportation from airport to pier and then catamaran to the resort, but no one was at the airport like promised. Had to contact the hotel and paid someone who spoke Spanish to see where our driver was. Waited at least 20 minutes in the heat not knowing if someone is showing up. Then when we got to the pier, there was a speed boat instead of catamaran. That was not what we had agreed on. However, Fareed the representative from the hotel in charge of the speedboat was great. Made sure we would get there with as little as possible motion. On the last day took us 5 calls to see why no one is coming to pick us up to take us to the pier. Our catamaran was leaving at 12:00 and at 12:02 after calling 5 times we were still in the room waiting. That also added to our frustration with communication with the front desk people. Nothing arranged with them was done smoothly. Aside from that it’s a nice resort. Stoney beach!

Spacious, modern rooms, facing the sea. Silent during the night. Massive and delicious breakfast buffet. Staff friendly in all locations. Fair prices for drinks at the beach and diverse food offerings. Only downside is the gravel road of approx. 5km to arrive to the hotel, which makes the travel slightly uncomfortable.

Well maintained property. Food and drinks very overpriced.

Hands-down, the staff was very polite. But for a resort, there’s nothing open late at night to eat, and it was also very quiet and boring in the evenings- it didn’t have the Columbia vibe The rooms are awesome, and the staff is great!
