The Captain Stannard house is a true gem in Westbrook. There are many restaurants, shops, parks, and beaches close by. The property has a private yard and a large rear porch for relaxation. My room was impeccably clean and spacious for being the smallest one in the house. Dianne was incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help all the guests.

The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. The grounds and back porch are very nice and relaxing. It's a short walk to the beach. Plenty of parking and nice and quiet.

Clean, classic, charming seaside New England inn. Unique in that it isn’t really staffed in the traditional sense but provided much more than we expected - 24 hour guest pantry, beautiful common spaces to relax, fresh cookies upon arrival, and basic breakfast. This will be our new go-to when we’re in the area.

The Captain Stannard B & B is a comfortable and welcoming spot. Nothing fancy - no in-room TV or workout room - but a large, gracious common room (with TV) and a coffee station tucked in a nearby nook. Carolyn, the owner, gave a warm welcome. My room was spacious and the bed super comfortable. Although it was March, I could imagine how nice it would be in the warmer weather to sit out on the extensive side porch overlooking the garden and private yard. For the hearty, warm blankets are provided to allow for porch sitting in colder months. The fresh fruit, yogurt and granola at breakfast were nice; the baked goods, disappointing. More importantly, the coffee was good. : ) I would stay again.

A truly delightful property - lovely rooms, a beautiful and welcoming common room and covered porch for relaxing and located near terrific places to eat and things to do. Plus delicious breakfast! Can’t wait to come back.

Had a wonderful two night stay. Clean,comfortable, cozy. Inn Keeper Diane was kind and attentive. Breakfast was great. So many great touches - including beach chairs and towels- were provided. Perfect location, short walk to the beach and beautiful grounds. I can’t wait to go back!

It's a beautiful inn & beautifully maintained. Wonderful wide porch & great supply of beach towels, chairs & games. There were only wooden, straight-backed chairs in the room, so that wasn't very comfortable. Tiny bathroom & no TV in the room which I guess is to be expected in an inn. People who like inns, would love this place. We've concluded that we're probably not "inn" people.

Our stay was great! My flight got in early, and the innkeeper was very kind to let me check in early. The room was clean, comfortable, and safe. The doors to the inn are locked with a keypad that every traveler has a unique code for safety. The first floor common area has a guestbook, a cabinet full of puzzles and other games, a TV, a kitchenette, and lots of seating. The kitchen has a large refrigerator that guests can access along with coffee, tea, and glassware. They also provide postcards with a picture of the inn on the front which I thought was fun! Breakfast is from 8-10 AM and is continental; however, I would say it's elevated continental since it includes a lot of homemade breakfast treat like berry cobbler on top of the regular bagels and oatmeal. I thought it tasted great! I would highly recommend this inn.

This Inn was updated, and had nice perks like free beach pass parking, free bikes to tour area and decent continental bfast to get your day started. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Since the TV is in the 1 st floor living room, (with an abundance of board games) there wasn't any ambient TV noise through the walls or in the halls. A great feature for light sleepers. Bring a book or your I Pad, if you need to zone out.

We really enjoyed our stay in this inviting inn! The staff and guests were all friendly and the property was well cared for and very clean. The bed and bedding were super comfortable! Breakfast was delicious. The short walk to West Beach was great. We would stay again. Thanks! :)

The inn was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and looked to have been recently refinished. The innkeeper was super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the captain's suite on the ground floor and it is very large, with a separate master bedroom. Very nice and we would stay here again.

Our stay at the Captain Stannard Inn was absolutely wonderful. Innkeeper Carolyn, wirh help from daughter Claire 😊, does an amazing job keeping the entire place immaculate. We enjoyed our chats wirh them and appreciated all the tourist tips! The breakfasts were delicious - lots of fresh fruit and fresh baked breads and muffins. The decor and the accommodations were comfortable and inviting. We would love to return!

Check in is easy and our room was very comfortable. Thankfully, parking is convenient as we stayed during high winds and rain. Our interactions with staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again and we highly recommend.

Very lovely clean quiet room. Only one. Hair to sit in and it was wooden with a cushion rather than a comfy soft cushioned chair. Bed very firm and comfortable. Wonderful continental breakfast! Very nice for the reasonable price.

Room was tight. Bed seemed to be a double instead of a queen. Bathroom fan needs replaced. Loud. Reported to owner. Breakfast is confusing as the brochure shows full style but continental was only offering. Otherwise, adequate and comfortable.

My wife and I stopped for one night on our way elsewhere and found ourselves wishing we could have stayed longer! The innkeeper Dianne was tremendous. She called me on the day of our check in to get my ETA, and when she heard we’d not arrive until about 45 mins after regular check in time, she still waited to greet us and show us around! The room was cute and incredibly comfortable. The common area had some fun games to play, the continental breakfast had so many yummy choices, and the beach was a super close walk away. Would stay here again in a heartbeat the next time we’re passing through!

We were the only residents for the night we stayed here. The communication was clear and the room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom fan was noisy and the heat was set too high when we arrived, but those were our only minor complaints. Breakfast was continental and waiting for us when we got up. We would absolutely return.

The innkeeper Diane was excellent; she contacted me ahead of time to ensure a smooth check-in, gave us a tour of the beautiful inn and our room and was available, pleasant and provided a wonderful continental breakfast with some homemade items. The room was beautiful and quite large, wonderfully decorated and exceptionally clean. The porch was such a nice, comfortable and quiet spot to relax. From the check-in cookies to the individualized check-out this was an excellent location and stay. I would highly recommend staying here for a pleasant and more personalized experience.

Quaint, within walking distance to the beach! Lots of great restaurants nearby. We went to a great antique mall and winery close by and the neighboring small towns also have plenty to do (and we went in the off season the weekend before Thanksgiving!). Carolyn was attentive and friendly at the B&B. It was safe, quiet, cozy and charming. The breakfast had a nice selection and was fresh.

Our stay was great! My flight got in early, and the innkeeper was very kind to let me check in early. The room was clean, comfortable, and safe. The doors to the inn are locked with a keypad that every traveler has a unique code for safety. The first floor common area has a guestbook, a cabinet full of puzzles and other games, a TV, a kitchenette, and lots of seating. The kitchen has a large refrigerator that guests can access along with coffee, tea, and glassware. They also provide postcards with a picture of the inn on the front which I thought was fun! Breakfast is from 8-10 AM and is continental; however, I would say it's elevated continental since it includes a lot of homemade breakfast treat like berry cobbler on top of the regular bagels and oatmeal. I thought it tasted great! I would highly recommend this inn.

The Captain Stannard house is a true gem in Westbrook. There are many restaurants, shops, parks, and beaches close by. The property has a private yard and a large rear porch for relaxation. My room was impeccably clean and spacious for being the smallest one in the house. Dianne was incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help all the guests.

The property was impeccable. The instructions were super clear, even when we got in super late at night. Breakfast was a small, but enjoyable. It was in a secluded neighborhood, but close to all shops and restaurants. The innkeeper was so lovely and kind. The room was pristine, and the AC was cold. Will be staying here every single time I visit.

My husband and I loved Captain Stannard! The room and bed were very comfortable. The AC worked well and wasn't too loud. We loved the delicious homemade breakfast foods. The innkeeper was very helpful in recommending places to eat and visit in the area. It was a lovely short walk to the beach and a perfect location for exploring the CT shore area. There were several places inside and outside on the property where we could go and simply relax.

The host was very welcoming and helpful. The B &B was very clean and charming. The continental breakfast was adequate but underwhelming. I felt the breakfast could have been elevated to a more interesting level as I have experienced in other B& Bs.

Room was tight. Bed seemed to be a double instead of a queen. Bathroom fan needs replaced. Loud. Reported to owner. Breakfast is confusing as the brochure shows full style but continental was only offering. Otherwise, adequate and comfortable.

This was a lovely home developed into a bed and breakfast. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was kind upon arrival and helpful with orienting us to the place. The walls were thin and another party conversed at 2 am for a long time. The breakfast was terrible. I am not accustomed to a cold breakfast when staying at a place billed are a BnB. I could have stayed at a chain hotel and had a better breakfast there.

We stayed two nights in the Captain Jedediah Post room. It was freezing outside, but the room was toasty warm. You can control the temperature yourself. Even the bathroom had a heater. The room definitely gave you a historic country vibe due to the decor and furniture which were restored antiques. No TV in the room (which was is a good thing). The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were perfect. Breakfast was continental, with a variety of baked goods and fresh fruit. Neighborhood was quiet. We had a well rested 2 night’s sleep. The room was very clean. We definitely will be back again.

This was a lovely B&B experience! My room was so comfortable. I wish the breakfast included more gluten free and dairy free options, but I brought my own oatmeal to be safe, and a microwave was available.

Darling inn. Breakfast was continental but they had excellent muffins and lots of choices. Typical New England Inn; quaint, no TV, very comfortable. I recommend it.

We loved the decor, the layout, and the amenities of the hotel. The common area was a great place to relax, as was the side porch with its rockers and complimentary beverages. Our breakfast included fruit that was ripe and delicious, as well as a variety of nice grains and protein offerings. We did not see any of the staff during our visit. This was never a problem, but it might have been if we had encountered immediate on-site help. The parking was excellent, and there were lots of recreational opportunities, including indoor and outdoor games. Our room was lovely, and the bed was very comfortable.

The Stannard Inn is an absolute jewel box on the Connecticut shoreline! It is a beautifully decorated coastal chic Captain’s home with thoughtfully appointed guests rooms and public areas. The Innkeepers were so deliberate with the amenities they offered and we could not have been more comfortable or felt more welcome. Will definitely be back again
