Lombard Plaza Motel

It was a decent stay. Not as clean as other reviewers said, but it wasn’t bad. Definitely have to keep in mind that it’s a motel, so walls are very thin. You can hear the bar next door and people talking outside or in the room next to you. Parking is free, but extremely tight (one way in and out) and limited (like 15 spaces?). There is additional parking on the other side of the building, but it’s chained off so I guess you have to ask for them to open it up? We were always able to find a spot, but we came in mid-December so it was likely less busy than during the summer/more peak travel times. Location was great and felt safe (hardly any homeless or sketchy folks around). I was disappointed because when I booked the room, it said there would be a tub/shower combo but there was only a small shower. Also, I read that we were supposed to be provided with complimentary water bottles but they charge a $1/bottle. Not deal breakers, but I was counting on getting these things so definitely disappointing. I was able to choose what floor I wanted to be on though, so that was nice. Got ground floor room 109, towards the middle/slightly more towards the back. I do wonder if it would’ve been noticeable quieter if we were able to get a room all the way back or if a higher floor truly is quieter. There’s no elevator though, and I wasn’t in the mood to lug my pregnant self and young child up/down stairs frequently. Beds uncomfortable.

Parking was a problem!

Parking was really tight. We got there early and not many cars in lot and got backed into the parking space. Otherwise would have to back all the way out of lot. Room was clean and bed and pillows comfortable. There 3 nights and maid was never in to replace towels or coffee packets. Had to find her cleaning other rooms to get clean towels. Great location though and free parking.

Well proportioned, very clean and well maintained room. Usually ample parking, although Saturday night was full so had to pay for secure public car park across road, but other than that the remainder of our 5 night stay was good with a Bike hire shop and Mel's Diner nearby.

I would stay again at this no frills hotel. Reasonable rate, free parking, clean enough, comfy enough bed, and fun location near shops and restaurants in Marina District. Parking was very tight. Hotel doesn't look that impressive on the outside but it checked the boxes for us for an affordable one night stay.

The rooms are nice, large, and well maintained and furnished except they don’t provide nasal tissues. Really, $185 for a room and no tissues? They have free parking, a rarity in SF, although it’s narrow and tight backing out. The big problem on weekends is there’s a noisy night club next door. Loud, inebriated young people spill out of the bar and hang out on the sidewalk in front of the hotel until 2:30 a.m. Ask for a room away from the street!

The room was exceptionally clean, and the king size bed was very comfortable. It also had a good rolling chair at the desk, and and a very comfortable sitting chair. There was plenty of hot water for showers or baths. The heater/AC controls were easy to understand and worked well, and the room was warm and comfortable, even on a cold night. We had a room on the 1st floor toward the back, and it was quiet, despite being on a busy street. It was convenient to walk to buses and eating places. The front desk staff and the cleaning lady were very helpful and friendly. We felt safe at this motel. The parking lot and the doors outside the rooms were well lit. The Marina neighborhood is a relatively safe part of San Francisco.

Smelly toilet

Our room with a comfortable king size bed was exceptionally clean. It had a good rolling chair at the desk, and and a very comfortable sitting chair. It also had a small size refrigerator that worked well, a hot water/coffee maker, and a microwave oven. The flat screen television was very nice with many channels. There was free Wi-Fi. There was plenty of hot water for showers or baths. It had a large bathtub/shower combination. It also had very nice travel sized soaps and shampoo. The heater/AC controls were easy to understand and worked well. We could easily adjust the temperature and turn it on and off. We had a room on the 1st floor toward the back, and it was quiet, despite being on a busy street. It was convenient to walk to buses and eating places on Chestnut and Lombard streets. The man at the front desk and the cleaning lady were very helpful and friendly. We felt safe at this motel. The parking lot and the doors outside the rooms were well lit. Great service, basic room clean.

The motel served out purposes because of the location and the super plus of having free parking. The property is outdated and the room had a very strong smell of Clorox that attached to our clothes and luggage.

Most everything was good although the room had a strong scent of Fabuloso. I am allergic to that type of fragrance but was in a hurry when I booked and forgot to ask whether housekeeping used fragranced products, so the strong odor may have been my fault as the manager may have been able to ask housekeeping to refrain from using Fabuloso. We slept with the window open and the bathroom fan running to bring fresh air inside although that didn't clear out all the fragrance. It seemed the bedding had been washed with Fabuloso. Other than that, the room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. One other issue that could be a problem for someone with a mold/mildew allergy is that the room heater showed signs of that when we looked inside of it. (The front cover is easy to remove and replace.)

Very friendly staff. Room had hardwood floors instead of normal carpet which felt cleaner. Plenty of plug ins & lighting.

Bed was a little hard and beat up. But everything is okay. Would recommend for the price .

Friendly staff and even gave us extra towels. For the price it was a great value. The only thing to complain about was it was near a loud and busy road.

Clean room. Great water pressure. Slow WiFi. Paid almost $400 for one night. Busy time in the city but feels like gouging. Less than $100 next month

unfortunately the mattress was old and squeaky, the wood boards upstairs were old and creeky and amplified the upstair guest's footsteps. The Fridge was loud at the middle of the night occasionally. But there was a good selection of tv channels and the motel seemed clean but aged.

You get what you paid. A good place to sleep comfortable, super clean and in a good location, a lot of restaurants, convenience stores and public transportation close to. We were worried because all the places that had parking looked tricky or had bad reviews about cleaning. The only complain that I have is that if you stay on the first floor, you can hear a lot of noises from people walking above, if you’re a heavy sleeper It’ll be fine.

Location was great, staff was very friendly, and rooms were clean and spacious. However, the wifi was horrible. It worked fine for about 2 hours then it was horrible for the rest of the 4 days I was there. They would reboot it everytime I or another guest called and it would work fine for like an hour then it would be back to being horrible again.

Decent motel in a good and practical location. Our room was big and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The fridge and microwave were a nice touch. The price was reasonable for San Francisco. The staff was friendly. The major drawback was the horrible internet: it occasionally worked well, but it more often than not either was very slow or simply kept dropping off. All we needed was basic internet for work (sending and receiving emails and suchlike); we don’t do any streaming or gaming. We reported the issue twice to the front desk and were told that they were going to put a note to have the connection checked. Nothing happened. If you need reliable internet (for work or any other reason), it might be a good idea to stay somewhere else. If, however, the internet is of no importance to you, then the Lombard Plaza is worth a try.

The location was perfect. It was decently quiet in regards to street noise; however, the walls were thin and the people above us were loud and we could hear every footstep. The only complaint I had was the mattress; it was very firm and provided zero back relief. I would bring a roll up mattress pad if I stayed in the motel again. It offered free parking and the lot was safe. The air conditioner got very cold and fast. There was a nice cold mini fridge with mini freezer and a microwave in the room. Also, an ironing board and iron, and hairdryer were provided in the room. Great restaurants and bars are steps away. We walked to Safeway and grabbed snacks and water. The ocean is also down the way and not too far of a walk. Would stay again.

This place is a GEM! Great location with lots to do around where we stayed. Staff was incredible and made our family's stay very memorable!

The hotel is excellent, offering exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to assist with my requests, making my stay incredibly comfortable.

The staff were kind and seemed concerned about my complaint. I left the motel room 111 on 2/3/24 because we had an unruly guest next door. From 2am until 7am she was screaming, banging the floor, and slamming doors. Her boyfriend showed up and I was close to call 911. I complained to the front desk at 0300 and he explained that he was aware of the problem. He offered to move us to a different room but that seemed to inconvenient. I’m surprised the decision to kick this lady off the property wasn’t made and for this I feel our trip was ruined. My wife is rather timid and she just wanted peace and quiet. She left the motel terrified and just felt like going home even though we had another night stay that we lost. My frustration is that I left my cell phone number since the lady at the desk stated she would give it to the manager. I thought I would receive a call but it never happened. I feel I should get my last night refunded since there was an obvious bad situation happening and nobody did anything about it. We truly were having an excellent time in San Francisco until this happened. I know it’s not the hotels fault that there’s crazy people out there but it’s poor business to ignore returning a call to probably tell me sorry no refunds. For future reference just do the right thing nothing more nothing less. Services not used should always be refunded.

The staff is wonderful, especially Manager Sofia. They are always so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and very comfortable.

They were a little rude about me staying in the same room when I was told I had to check out and check back in. Maid barged into my room without knocking and then proceeded to complain to me while I’m in my underwear about checking out and checking back in for about 3 minutes. Then while I was gathering my things and getting dressed I’m assuming the front desk lady or manager came by and barraged me 1min later.

I spend one night for business, it’s clean, quiet and best of all, the front desk let me check in early.

The front desk staff was very friendly and made it enjoyable to check in and out. Overall the room was a good price and very clean. Great location.

The customer service here is terrible. The owner makes poor business decisions and should hire a professional business manager. I have stayed before but this is the last time. There’s plenty of other options here in San Francisco.

They gave us the key to an occupied room. Walked into a guest luckily they weren’t upset but shocked.

From the exterior, it looks a little old and dated. The rooms are basic, but we were there to see SF not a hotel room. We appreciated a fridge so we can bring our breakfast and not pay a fortune. The bathroom is very spacious. Room was very clean. The staff was wonderful. Very friendly . Very responsive. We had some middle of the night noisy upstairs neighbors who who were quieted immediately.

Great location. We walked or used the public transportation most of the time.

Staff were very accomodating and communication was great. Room was comfortable and had everything I needed. Location was easy walking distance to nearby amenities and services, as well as being right beside the bus stops

We enjoyed our stay at Lombard Plaza. We came down to watch the fireworks with our 14 year old son from the Sacramento area and needed a place for the night. We picked Lombard because it was a a great location at an affordable price. The rooms were clean and cozy. The refrigerator was a good size and there were a lot of premium cable channels. The hotel is on Lombard, so you can hear a lot of cars and people, it didnt bother us too much, but if ypu are looking for a quiet spot, this might not be for you. Parking was included, so we left our car and walked everywhere. The location was perfect. We would definitely stay here again!

Didn't look the best from the road (the sign was only 1/2 working) but room was good. Safe area. Easy parking. Only a couple of blocks from some great bars and restaurants. I would stay again.

I chose this place solely based on reviews, and it was an excellent choice. Location was fantastic. 10 min to Golden Gate and walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39! Free parking! Little noisy from outside and fridge. Overall it was a great 2 nights stay.
