Hotel Vauban

For the prize you can’t expect more. It’s situated perfect, but you can hear everything around you inside and out. So if you are a light sleeper this is not the place. Bed was too soft for my liking, room and hotel is very old. No aircon, no outputs to charge phones. Toilet paper holder fell down, it was put up with a suction cup. So cheap and run down all the way through. Breakfast was very simple, but I didn’t mind. Was fine for my short stay, but won’t come back

The hotel is in a good location for exploring downtown Luxembourg and the staff was excellent. My issue was no air conditioning during a heat wave. The staff was great bringing me a fan and trying to accommodate, but the space was just too small for airflow and a guest on the floor kept coughing so badly I asked them to do a wellness check. It was my fault for not noticing no air offered at this hotel. It was also very loud with lots of slamming doors so I did not sleep well. I'm sure the space and accommodation is just fine for a certain type of traveler, but not for me. Most of this may have been the timing, but the small room was just too small. It would be great for a backpacker.

Great location! Some nit picks: shower stalls are small and there is no reading light on the desk. Also, power outlets are few and far between. (I had to use the bathroom's power outlet to connect to my laptop when working at the desk.) If you have a disability, keep in mind that you need to climb half a flight of stairs just to reach the hotel's single elevator.

Das Hotel besticht durch seine zentrale Lage, öffentl. Parkhaus in der Nähe. Zimmer ordentlich und sauber. Fenster schalldicht. Nicht geeignet für Gäste mit Gehproblemen, der Aufzug befindet sich im ersten Stock und hält im Zwischenstock, so dass die Zimmer jeweils nur über eine Treppe erreichbar sind.

The hotel location is great, close to all attractions. I like the roof top room however it became really hot during the day without air condition. You still need to walk up the stair to get to the elevator. I was here on Saturday and Sunday and there was music event right outside the hotel. It was hard to get sleep at night.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and overall, my stay was pleasant. Do note, though, that the walls between rooms are VERY thin - if your next door neighbor snores, or gets late night phone calls and is talking, you're going to hear it. If they have their TV on, you're going to hear it. Ask for a corner room, and I'd recommend asking for something on the second floor at least, to help with the plaza/restaurant noise from below. There is no public elevator in the building that I could see (there was one for staff use, but accessing it also required taking the stairs), so if you have any mobility issues, this is not the hotel for you, as you have to go up some narrow, steep, and curving stairs to get to your room. The hotel is fantastically located in the city center - the tourist office is practically right next door, and the major historical monuments and buildings are all within walking distance. Something the hotel could do to make the rooms feel cozier would be to have a small electric kettle/coffee maker in the rooms, with a small selection of teas, instant coffee, and cocoa there. That was the one thing that I really missed. One note: there was an unpleasant sewage smell in the lobby close to the front door - I know they mentioned construction being in the area, so this might have something to do with it, but if I were the staff, I'd have someone come and check it out, just in case there's a problem with their pipes that hasn't been discovered yet.

Location was absolutely wonderful! Restaurants, shopping, museums, points of interest, etc. While they do not provide a specific parking area, there is a parking garage just across the way making it easy to park. We had a fantastic view from our room and loved hearing the church bells chime. Amazing dinner from the seafood restaurant below. Only wish there was air-conditioning in the room- other than that, fantastic!

Clean and comfortable, the Hotel is in the center of Downtown. It is very close to all monuments, squares, stations, restaurants and Christmas markets.

This is a clean and fantastically located hotel. It's more of a European-style pension with smallish rooms and adequate bedding. It's exactly as advertised. The one caution I would give is that you need to be okay with using stairs - it is not handicap-accessible.

Excellent location, easy to find from the bus stop via the airport. Super friendly staff and no issues storing my bag pre check in and at check out. Stayed over a weekend and no noise/disruption from the building work in the square, imagine the views when this is complete are going to be amazing. Room was clean and warm and a very good shower, great when coming in from a cold day sightseeing. Breakfast was really tasty and needed as Sunday morning most cafes were closed.

Gammalt, slitet och dåligt städat. Bilderna ser väldigt mycket finare ut än vad det gör i verkligheten. Det låg flera svarta hårstrån i alla sängar, hårfönen var äldre än min pensionerade mamma och det kändes fuktigt på rummet - så pass att kläder som fått lite regn på sig inte torkade på över ett dygn. Det som var bra, om man står ut med hårda, smutsiga sängar och allmänt slitet är att läget är centralt och frukosten var ok. Skulle inte åka hit igen.

Nice room looked out into the square, worked out great as there was outside movies at night. Walking distance to everything. Free public transit. Set breakfast provided every morning.

Great location right in the centre of town. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good. The room was quite small with a lack of power points to charge your phone etc. Otherwise a great hotel

Service impeccable et personnel au top. En revanche le lit n’était pas du tout confortable très bancal il bougeait beaucoup et le matelas était très inconfortable. Les fenêtres ne sont pas assez épaisses ce qui laisse passer le froid et le bruit. À partir de 22h, on entend clairement les conversations et bruits sur la place en face. Les lumières de la salle de bain sont à remplacer (chambre 202) sinon tout le reste était impeccable.

The staff were wonderful and extremely attentive to us. The location is excellent for access to restaurants and seeing the sights. You will have to carry your luggage one flight to an elevator and another half flight to the floor level of your room. The room was large enough, but worn.

We rented the apartment. The check in was friendly easy and quick. There is a lift to take you up to the suite. The apartment looks over a beautiful plaza. The apartment is new and seems to be recently updated. It looks better in person than in the photos! The apartment is spacious and quiet. The main bed is very comfortable and the sofa bed is decent for a pull out. There is a kitchen with a fridge, coffee machine and utensils. There is a lovely breakfast in the restaurant below served until 10:30. Friendly service and delicious food in the restaurant. There is a grocery store next door to purchase food you may need. Cars are not allowed in the plaza so you will need to walk in. There is a beautiful church in the plaza and you will hear the bells toll. You are 10 minutes away from great shopping, restaurants, wine bars and cafes. Cars were not allowed in this area which made it charming. There is a Delicious seafood restaurant next door. This hotel is a wonderful stay.

We had a great stay. Hotel Vauban was exactly what they say they are. The rooms are small and the area is a bit noisy but it is right in the heart of things and so convenient. The breakfast had no choices but it was tasty and got us out the door. If you don’t need lots of space or fancy it is a good choice.

Despite it was one night at the hotel to visit Luxembourg for a day, first staff impression at the reception was disappointing and it was simply that I am a visible Muslim with a headscarf can change the narrative sometimes!! As I am a firm, confident travellers for a longtime, i made the point that the room I have booked should remain the same and not to find that they were willing to allocate another type of room on the arrival, at the end the staff rectified the situation and had the room wanted!! They have tried! But is the wrong individual, I am not the sort of giving up easily! Going back to Vauban, certainly not!! I would not recommend it either! Thank you

Good: conveniently located in city center and easy to find. The breakfast is included and was the right amount of food. The check in was a breeze and the staff was friendly. Overall a great experience. Bad: the remotes for the tv and cable was missing a battery, so I had to switch them around each time. I called desk and they told me best of luck basically and no batteries available. I was also locked out of channels on the 12 year old settings. Pillows were not great and lacked any support. Overally a great place, small changes could make this a 5 star no doubt.

We had an overnight stay for a morning meeting at the Bierger-Center. Hotel Vauban was the perfect location as it is only a few steps away. The gentleman working the desk was very friendly and offered numerous food recommendations and ideas of what to see while in Luxembourg. Unfortunately our stay was short, but would recommend to anyone looking to stay near the city center.

The day manager was extremely helpful, efficient and pleasant. Great breakfast and delicious dinner!

A great spot in the center. Not a fancy hotel but not everything g needs to be fancy in Luxembourg. I arrived late and the staff stayed late to let me in! So nice!

Stayed only one night but were impressed with the location, service and breakfast. The lady at the front desk ( from Romania sorry didn’t get her name ) was absolutely delightful and very helpful, particularly with directions 😀 Definitely plan to stay at the Vauban again during our next stay in Luxembourg.

This hotel was in a beautiful location on one of the squares and very close to Christmas markets. I could see Notre Dame Cathedral from my window and loved hearing the bells ring. The staff was so helpful! Breakfast was good. Overnight parking is available in Kneudler or Theater garages nearby.

La situacion era perfecta para llegar andando a todas partes, muy céntrico. El personal muy agradable. Como puntos negativos: el primer tramo de escaleras puede ser dificultuoso para gente con algun tipo de problema de movilidad. No hay buffet libre de desayuno, te ponen lo mismo todos los días y, aunque, quedas lleno, no dan opción de escoger...y con lo que encarece el desayuno no debería de ser así.

This is not a 3 star hotel as the rooms are way too small for a 3 star. There is many amenities missing from the room like a fridge,... as it is too small to cater for them. It is a difficult hotel to move around as the lift does not start until you go up 16-17 stairs with your baggage before you can get on the lift. Then it stops before your floor so you must pick up your bags and walk up yet another flight of stairs to your very very small room. The dining room which they said we could go to for dinner is not so. You must book and because we were not told that we were asked to leave the dining room and go and find somewhere else to eat no matter the fact you were a hotel guest. The dining room was mostly empty when we went to ask for dinner when we were kicked out. It remained so for another hour so I don't know why they could not squeeze us in. We walked across the way to another fully booked restaurant but they made room for the two of us which was lovely and what we expected from our own hotel. It was an ok hotel but I would not stay there again if I went back. Staff were friendly but not always there so very limited services indeed.

This lovely little hotel offers everything you would want, including a delicious light breakfast. Close to everything there's lots of dining options and free transport. My room overlooked the square and was comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Luxembourg

The location was perfect sitting on the square in the centre of the Old Town. Unfortunately this is where the positivity ends. We were kept awake all night by endless noise including the bells of the Notre Dame, street cleaning vehicles, building works etc The facilities in the room were non existent. For a room attracting a premium price the least I’d expect is tea/coffee making facilities, but there were none in the room. The toilet paper was single ply and just felt cheap. Breakfast was below average and was served to us on a tray like school children. It included cold meats that were wasted as 2 of our party were unable to eat it due to one being a vegetarian, and one being Muslim (so does not consume pork). There was no fruit available. It was the worst breakfast I have experienced in a hotel on the continent.
