While the hotel itself was clean and the front desk staff friendly and polite, the hotel itself was 3 stars at best. the rooms are very small and I understand that is typical for European hotels but I thought this one extra small. I was overcharged by about 5 to 6 times the regular on hotels.com because of the Olympics ( hotels .com should have made mention of this in their listing). Amenities were bare minimum shampoo and soap period. Air conditioner was out for 3 of our 5 day trip. and they still use old fashion room keys that you need to turn into the front desk before you leave.

We spent 7 days here over the reopening week of Notre Dame and would definitely be our return hotel. Hotel is located on a typical old narrow European back street between 2 major thoroughfares, so it is quiet, but less than a minute walk to bus, subway, cafe, restaurants, grocery store, everything you could want. We always felt safe in this area. Hotel is what I would call a boutique hotel in North America and that is part of its French charm. Don’t expect huge rooms ( we did select the smallest room for the price as we spent little time in the room itself). Hotel is in nice condition, linen was white and crisp, bed was comfortable, daily towels higher quality. Front staff were always pleasant and helpful and spoke English and housekeeping did an excellent job on our room. There is a breakfast available but we didn’t use it as there are so many bakeries and cafes just around the corner that we chose to go there every morning for the great French baking. There was some sort of sauna or steam room at the hotel that looked interesting, but we were too busy being tourists and never checked it out. Price seem to be comparable to other hotels, not the cheapest, but not extravagant. This is the kind of hotel we look for when traveling

From the minute I walked in I was greeted by a friendly, accommodating and hospitable staff. Everything was perfection. The rooms, the breakfast, the location and even a mini fitness room. I would highly recommend it and plan to return again.

While the location is good and the decor is great, we stayed for 5 nights in August (for the Olympics) and DID NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING for the entire visit. The first night we were told is would it would be fixed the next day. The following night we were told that the manager couldn't be called because it was her day off(!) and were given a fan. The remaining 3 nights we were told there was nothing they could do. We asked to change rooms (there were other rooms available when we looked online), but were offered no assistance and wouldn't refund us for the stay. As it was nearly 100 degrees during the day, it was obviously miserable at night. The spa did not work while we were there as well and the housekeeping left their cart in the hall outside our door the entire time. The total lack of customer support and rude management made this a terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend a stay here.

Struttura deliziosa e molto curata nell’ arredamento. Rispetto al prezzo però camera piccola e servizio gentile ma non molto professionale. Anche servizi limitati, più da B&B che da hotel. In definitiva unico neo il prezzo un po’ elevato rispetto a quanto offerto.

We travel a lot and this was our third time in Paris. We like to stay in different arrondissement each time to get the feel of each area. This was our first time at Charles V and in Marais and we LOVED it!! The area is great. Very Parisian and less touristy than other areas. It is on a quaint quiet block with local restaurants and shops. There is a Hammam that we did not use, but it looked lovely. The staff were beyond amazing! They took their time to understand our needs and were very kind to us and our awful French lol. They all spoke English very well. I cannot say enough about this place. We are already planning our next time in Paris and will definitely stay in Charles V again. We stayed in room 15. It was large and beautifully appointed.

For what was supposed to be rated as 4 stars, it is definitely not. The room was ok except that it had the smallest closet that I have ever seen-not really room enough for 1 persons clothes. There is no coffee machine but a hot water kettle with instant coffee- not exactly 4 star. Amenities are certainly lacking. The young man at the front desk was most helpful in many regards. The breakfast leaves much to be desired-better to go elsewhere. Most importantly, there is no housekeeping later in the evening-my partner was sick & vomited in the bathroom. I was given towels but no mop or cleaner to use. Not a good situation. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this hotel & it’s certainly not 4 stars.

The staff were all very friendly. Some were more knowledgeable and able to offer helpful information than others. The bed was comfortable and the AC was a relief to come back to. Generally the room was clean. The bathroom could use a deep cleaning to rid of some mildew in the grout. It’s visible close up but there was an odor of mildew. It was not awful but steam cleaning would elevate the accommodations quite a bit. We did not use the spa or have the breakfast but both looked good.

Extremely disappointed. About this hotel. It is not a 4 star hotel. The quality of the rooms are run down. Air con was not available. They argue that they will turn it on in a month because of I think reducing costs. If that is the case then don’t advertise full rates of 300 plus per night if you don’t have all amenities. Outrageous. Also the shower system is weird so you need to hold the handle to be able to take a proper shower. Also there was no toilet paper and I have to ask. There are just so many things that went wrong that you don’t expect a 4 star hotel to have. Also my room was dusty like clearly haven’t been cleaned in a while. Also they seemed more concerned about damages to the room that actually maintaining good quality. Basically worst hotel I ever stay. Stay away from this one if you value a good stay.

Das Hotel überzeugt durch seinen Charme und die Mitarbeitenden - jede, wirklich jede Person im Haus war ausgesprochen freundlich, hilfsbereit und professionell. Die Lage des Hotels ist ausgezeichnet, nah an zwei Metrostationen, in einer wunderschönen Gasse, die sehr ruhig ist und zum Flanieren einlädt - Pariser Bilderbuchszenen direkt vor der Haustür. Das Zimmer und sonstige Dekor des Hauses sind wunderschön, warm und von angenehmer Schlichtheit. Alles sehr sauber und gut gepflegt. Amazing location and the hotel and the room were very nice. The only drawback was the bathroom - the room was clean, but the bathroom had a permanent off putting smell that resembles mould.

We loved our stay at this boutique hotel. Perfect location, extremely clean, very nice staff…the rooms are also very quiet. Just a short walk to the 1 line metro and set among great cafes, restaurants and shops. There is nothing I would change about this hotel. Incidentally, as an added bonus, right next door is an amazing store called La mâle d’effeene…it has very unique and interesting things. Perfect for gift shopping. Stuff you don’t find everywhere. We did all of our gift giving there.

Very nice boutique hotel in the Marais. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance, plus great shopping. Would recommend, but avoid the first floor rooms, outside noise was a little high. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, room size was great for a Paris hotel. Would stay again, but on a higher floor.

Namely, both the sink and shower were clogged, a ceiling water leak, a curtain rod that blocked opening of the window, and sadly, breakfast eggs and potatoes that tasted like cardboard and had the texture of blah. Staff refused to make any repairs, citing "ce la vie"

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located with several metro stations close by. The room is sufficient and the bed is comfortable but the bathroom is small with very limited shelf/counter space. The cleaning service is not always consistent.

This is a boutique hotel so be aware that the rooms are fairly small. But the staffs are super nice and patient, the location is very convenient (close to two major metro lines). I do appreciate that I don’t need to walk much before go into my room after getting into the hotel when every day in Paris was a long walking day.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was attractive with great lighting (reading light, etc.). Could have really used a drawer or two - there were none.

I stayed in the junior suite on the top for floor 3 days, two nights with my partner. I found the check in could have been friendlier, but the room is extremely charming and roomy (Paris standards) for a couple. It was very quiet and cozy, with the sloped roof and beams that are very Parisian style, just be mindful if you are over 6ft tall. I liked the room a lot, the only downside is there is not a shower, its rather a bathtub with a detached showerhead, under a sloped roof so not possible to stand up, and you have to hold the showerhead at all times. Aside from that, we really enjoyed staying there, the location is totally perfect, so many cute shops and cafes around. We didnt try the breakfast so cant comment on that. Overall, I would return again for sure and would take the junior suite again. The price is right for what you get also.

First of all, this is not a 4 Star Hotel. The lobby - the only public space - is a small room right off the front door entrance. Very few rooms, dark close hallways. Ventilation is not great. Checking in for a 6-day stay, my husband and I were given a room with 6-inches of closet hanging space. Really? That is completely ridiculous. We immediately asked the front desk manager to be re-assigned a room with at least a small wardrobe to hang our clothes and explained we travel with an extensive wardrobe. We could not be moved until the next day - even though we were checking in at noon. So we did not unpack until noon on our second day. But to top off this inconvenience, I was ROBBED. A $600 Dries Van Noten sweater simply disappeared from the wardrobe. I wore it to dinner the second night - and even had a dated iPhone photo of me wearing it. When I went to wear if 4 days later, the hanger was empty. (The sweater was also included in the detailed packing list I keep on my phone in case of lost luggage.) When I reported the theft to the front desk manager, she was completely unhelpful - saying she would have to check "film" and would get back to me in 2 days. One week later, I sent an email asking for the promised update and received replies saying that" (1) no film showed anyone entering our room and leaving with the sweater visibly in their possession - wow - big surprise - and (2) I would have to file a police report, which having left Paris was not possible. BEWARE!

We absolutely loved our stay at Charles V. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Pierre and Mark always made sure to greet us when we came to the lobby and if we needed anything they were quick to meet our needs. The area around Charles V was on the quieter side of Paris but still had plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. We would love to come back for another stay.

From the minute I walked in I was greeted by a friendly, accommodating and hospitable staff. Everything was perfection. The rooms, the breakfast, the location and even a mini fitness room. I would highly recommend it and plan to return again.

It all started fine, front desk was nice enough, room was clean enough but definitely shows wear (paint chipping, dust on the bathroom door and a little grimy on the shower door rubber water stopper thing). This was my first solo trip and as a female traveling alone safety is number one. First of all the room only has a lock that you open with a key, no extra bolts. During my second day I lost my wallet while shopping, possibly pickpocket. So I was feeling quite shaken up after that and left with no money. The hotel didn’t offer to do much but I didn’t expect them to i guess. So i am now quite nervous about being alone and the morning I was to check out, at around 9:45am I was still in bed and suddenly heard the lock opening. At first I thought it was the neighbor opening their door but then my door opened and I was facing the door and saw a man. I said “hello” and He said excuse me and closed the door and locked it. When I told the hotel at check out they refused to believe me stating that there was only one key. And when I told them it was a man they further responded that it was impossible because house keeping were not men. They dismissed me, I only brought it up because it seemed weird that housekeeping would open the door without knocking first. And I really wanted them to be aware and check into it. But instead they made me feel like I was making it up or I was lying. Why would I make up something like that?!?! So, single ladies please be aware!!

We liked everything about this property and our stay there. The first room for our seven was a bit small, but my wife was pleased, so I was as well. We then spent several more days in a great premium room! Overall, we were well satisfied. But I must say that the staff made this a memorable stay. They were so friendly and accommodating. A special thanks to Marc, who made the stay the best!

A very lovely boutique hotel in the scenic and lively La Marais neighborhood. A short walk to Notre Dame and the Seine, Metro station around the corner, great bakeries and bistros close by, with fine dining options as well. Clean hotel with robes and slippers, old style charm and comfortable rooms. Loved it, we’ll definitely be back!

We loved our stay at this boutique hotel. Perfect location, extremely clean, very nice staff…the rooms are also very quiet. Just a short walk to the 1 line metro and set among great cafes, restaurants and shops. There is nothing I would change about this hotel. Incidentally, as an added bonus, right next door is an amazing store called La mâle d’effeene…it has very unique and interesting things. Perfect for gift shopping. Stuff you don’t find everywhere. We did all of our gift giving there.

Chocolate lovers, don’t miss Trois Chocolat just down the street, and Mao Dumpling House about a 15 min walk away.

For what was supposed to be rated as 4 stars, it is definitely not. The room was ok except that it had the smallest closet that I have ever seen-not really room enough for 1 persons clothes. There is no coffee machine but a hot water kettle with instant coffee- not exactly 4 star. Amenities are certainly lacking. The young man at the front desk was most helpful in many regards. The breakfast leaves much to be desired-better to go elsewhere. Most importantly, there is no housekeeping later in the evening-my partner was sick & vomited in the bathroom. I was given towels but no mop or cleaner to use. Not a good situation. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this hotel & it’s certainly not 4 stars.

LOVED this hotel. It’s a little jewel in the middle of the Marais. They have a gym with ok equipment and a Hamman (?) I think downstairs that we didn’t have time to use but I would book this place again and again! Really comfortable / nice bed / good sized for Paris.

The location of this hotel is perfect - close to the metro and the Seine. Great quiet street within walking distance of many nice restaurants and shops. Elegant decor in lobby and guest room. Rooms are tight and bathroom area is quite small. Air conditioning worked perfectly in the heat wave once we turned it on, the wifi was more finicky. The bed was comfortable, but was two twin beds pushed together and occasionally would separate apart. The lobby was quiet and the bar was well stocked and available all day. Gym area could use a scale for those of us who can’t understand why our clothes are tight all of a sudden…. Overall highly recommend and will stay here again when I return.
