Die Zimmer sind im Allgemeinen komfortabel, aber einfach eingerichtet. Häufig werden das Fehlen einer Klimaanlage, die Luftfeuchtigkeit, die kleinen Badezimmer und gelegentliche Lärmbelästigung durch offene Fenster erwähnt. This was a really lovely Eco-friendly hotel. Dinner was excellent, gourmet quality. Great breakfasts. Staff was attentive and friendly. They have their own private trail on which we were able to take a night walk / wildlife tour. Highly recommended! It’s quite close by car to Bijagua where there were restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. Close to Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio and the Rio Celeste. We also enjoyed the private trails at Helaconia Lodge where we spotted a troop of spider monkeys.

This place was truly a wonderful spot for us. They have a beautiful view over looking gardens that are often filled with birds. There was a lovely breeze that came in through the windows all night (which made no AC no problem) and we fell asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. We opted for dinner and it was the best food we had in Costa Rica. We also hiked their private trail in the rainforest and it was so nice and peaceful. I would come again and stay more than one night and get dinner every night.

This was a gem of a find. Joel the owner was on top of every detail of your stay. The meals prepared were exquisite. Family style tables that allowed you to meet other travelers and exchange past places visited and or give ideas of where to go next. Birds eye view of the beautiful garden where you could watch birds for hours. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Magnífico sitio. Ideal para situar el campamento base visitar varios Parques Nacionales, junto a Tenorio, relativamente cerca de Rincón de la vieja, Arenal y Rosas. Tranquilo, practico, limpio, con jardines y tiene una ruta exclusiva para senderismo dentro del volcán Tenorio.

We stayed here for one night on our Costa Rica family trip and we wished we had booked more nights. The lodge is run by a French expat who built the property with his wife 17 years ago. The lodge itself is wonderful. Clean large rooms, beautiful indoor/outdoor common area with garden and dining area, and a large professional kitchen that opens up to the dining area. Breakfast is included and was wonderful. Dinner is a small addon and is well worth the price. Each course was introduced by the owner and many incorporated local ingredients that we had never experienced. If you are coming to Bijagua, do yourself a favor and book Celest Mountain Lodge for a few nights and enjoy the property and food. We really enjoyed our short stay!

The property was beautiful! We saw more birds on the property than we did at the nearby natiknal park. The food from the restaurant was excellent! A true highlight of our trip. The rooms were very clean and so was the entire property and the staff was very nice and helpful. Only negative of the property is a lack of heating/cooling in the rooms. The temperature was fine during our stay, mostly missed being able to get the room dry. We were soaked from our hike during the day and were never able to get fully dry, even after getting back to the hotel.

We did not realize there was no ac. The humidity was bad which caused the room the have musky and moldy smell. The pillows smelled really bad like they don’t get sanitized in between customers. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. A very calm environment.

Fantastic property with beautiful views. Most of the irritants that others reviewed didn’t bother us at all (small shower, no A/C, etc) other than the paper thin walls. You can absolutely hear everything from all your neighbours. I don’t necessarily think it was the walls but more that because there is no A/C, everyone has all their windows open. The food was absolutely fantastic and the owner Joel was very attentive and a pleasure to talk to! I would definitely stay here again!

Very friendly owner, beautiful view and great dinner/breakfast! Comfort level was ok but relatively basic for price we paid compared to other places we’ve stayed in Costa Rica. 3 big negatives: 1) guide booked by the hotel for tours was ok for the night tour but very bad for the rio Celeste, rushing through it in 2hrs barely looking for animals (he only spotted 1 snake, +we saw 3 others thanks to other guides who found them), 2) we had very poor sleep as we could hear trafic from the road despite our earplugs, 3) there are no full blinds and we’re awaken with the sun around 6am

The mountain lodge is perfect The location is incredibly beautiful, with a view towards the volcano and having the feeling of a being in the jungle. The atmosphere is very convivial with Joel and the staff very welcoming, and I love the fact that everyone dined together at 1900 precisely. Food is inventive with vegetarian options. A chance to meet fellow travelers and share experiences. To note, this is a LODGE not a 5 star hotel BUT the accommodation is very comfortable and functional. Bravo Joel and team. Great concept and we loved our stay.

it was 90F and no a/c, no shampoo/conditioner, very very timy bathroom. for a place that is so expensive, basics were missing. positive - food was great. views are great everyone in staff is super attentive and helpful. the chocolate tour is awesome. night safari was a waste of money. would not recommend. my take is that it is an overpriced place for amenities it offers, and would probably go there just for the food.

Cute little hotel tucked into the mountains. With peaceful views and a locale near many attractions, it is quite charming place. Beds are a bit firm for my tastes but I'm particular. That's the only downside.

A very unique hotel!! beautiful in all senses! Staff and owner extremely kind!! our food incident: We left chewing gum in the shelf upon entering the room and within minutes it was full of ants. There is an instruction booklet/binder in the room which states not to bring any food in the room in bold red color font but its buried in 2 pages of information and we didn't finished reading by the time the ants got to the gum. perhaps a sign on the hotel door or a reminder during check-in would be great as the hotel is inside the forest! The owner and staff gave us a new room to ensure we would have a safe night w/o ants. Thank you!!! Great breakfast!!

There is an instruction booklet/binder in the room which states not to bring any food in the room in bold red color font but its buried in 2 pages of information and we didn't finished reading by the time the ants got to the gum. perhaps a sign on the hotel door or a reminder during check-in would be great as the hotel is inside the forest! The owner and staff gave us a new room to ensure we would have a safe night w/o ants. Thank you!!! Great breakfast!!

Overall, this place is very nice. We liked the open foyer area and the vibes. We were a bit disappointed by the bedroom which has a bit of a hostel feel to it. The staff was also uneven: very friendly one day, a bit short the next. The French helper/waitress for instance did not smile much. The communal dinner could have been fun, but the wine they had (only 1-2 types) was absolutely awful and not cheap. Also, I ordered the steak "very rare" but it came well done. They were kind enough to substitue, but the second one I got was still fridge-cold, almost as to spite me....

Very friendly owner, beautiful view and great dinner/breakfast! Comfort level was ok but relatively basic for price we paid compared to other places we’ve stayed in Costa Rica. 3 big negatives: 1) guide booked by the hotel for tours was ok for the night tour but very bad for the rio Celeste, rushing through it in 2hrs barely looking for animals (he only spotted 1 snake, +we saw 3 others thanks to other guides who found them), 2) we had very poor sleep as we could hear trafic from the road despite our earplugs, 3) there are no full blinds and we’re awaken with the sun around 6am

Joel at the front desk was very friendly and amazing. Although we stayed only for one night, the hospitality we received was great. The breakfast was served on the table with plenty of items. Joel offered plenty of advice for visiting the national park, the general safety tips, etc. The views were breathtaking, wish we stayed longer.

The lodge is in a beautiful setting, but the experience was spoiled by poor management. The owner at the front desk greeted us coldly, upset that we hadn’t added our 5-year-old to the booking. We had an amazing experience at Celeste lodge. Starting with our concierge Francisco who was so helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location and views are to die for. Their restaurant serves lunch and dinner by reservation only but their food is so fresh and delicious that we ended up dining in there the two nights we stayed. There is always a surprise meal prepared by a French chef. Btw, we have dietary allergies in our family and they accommodated us without a problem, Breakfast is complimentary and is so good too. We would go back in the blink of an eye!

This was a really lovely Eco-friendly hotel. Dinner was excellent, gourmet quality. Great breakfasts. Staff was attentive and friendly. They have their own private trail on which we were able to take a night walk / wildlife tour. Highly recommended! It’s quite close by car to Bijagua where there were restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. Close to Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio and the Rio Celeste. We also enjoyed the private trails at Helaconia Lodge where we spotted a troop of spider monkeys.

This was a gem of a find. Joel the owner was on top of every detail of your stay. The meals prepared were exquisite. Family style tables that allowed you to meet other travelers and exchange past places visited and or give ideas of where to go next. While food prepared thrre was well prepared and flavorful, they served dinner for everyone AT seven, and as a result, our food for dinner was barely warm to cold when we received it. Breakfast, which was good and plentiful, was served the same way; all plates were prepared at once.

This place was truly a wonderful spot for us. They have a beautiful view over looking gardens that are often filled with birds. There was a lovely breeze that came in through the windows all night (which made no AC no problem) and we fell asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. We opted for dinner and it was the best food we had in Costa Rica. We also hiked their private trail in the rainforest and it was so nice and peaceful. I would come again and stay more than one night and get dinner every night.

This is a wonderful location near the national park. If you are wanting to hike the waterfall trail in the national park, it is only about a 5-10 minute drive from this hotel. The hotel is unique in its design and location. It is nestled into the natural surroundings, and the grounds are lovely. There is a further hike across the road on some grounds owned by the hotel, and it is a nice little introduction to the rainforest. There are multiple bird species in the garden. The hotel has wide floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the valley, and you can birdwatch from the main dining area. The food here is excellent as well. There is homemade bread with fruit/eggs/porridge in the mornings. The coffee is also plentiful and good. Some may find that these rooms need "updating" to modern decor, and that may be true. But, I found the rooms to be clean and well-maintained. The aesthetic of this hotel is unique, and I appreciate this more than any standard boring aesthetic from contemporary hotels that all look the same. The owner has clearly put thought into the decor, and it reflects the unique personality of this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. This are remains relatively undeveloped, and it is a good getaway from more touristy areas of Costa Rica.
