Nice room and good breakfast. There needs to be a separate area for dogs at breakfast as we had dogs next to us on both sides during breakfast.

Very welcoming Very dog friendly - some nice little touches nice public area decor and warm pub feel - but very small room and very average evening meal and poor breakfast - burned over done fried eggs un toasted or buttered muffins with rubbery scrambled eggs that had caught - and very expensive for the quality - obvious Chatsworth proximity price hike.

Lovely short stay. Great bar with an excellent range of beers and wines. Tasty food. Room a little small but clean and bright. The staff were wonderful and really made a difference. They obviously enjoy their jobs and work well as a team. Always helpful and smiling.

Stopover journey , room was very comfortable and warm, very clean. Food in the bar was excellent value for money. Nice touch was the bathroom toiletries and walking guides provided. Receptionist and bar staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

Genuinely dog friendly hotel - dogs allowed in all bar and restaurant areas and no passive aggressive signs about keeping them off the bed :-) Well run pub, though not as luxury as I was expecting having stayed in Devonshire Arms’ before - this one is right next to Chatsworth but not run by them! Bit of a busy location and I wouldn’t recommend the “cosy” double but that’s my fault for going cheap!

Public areas are atmospheric and well-maintained and clean. The bedroom and bathroom were also clean and pleasantly modern, while remaining suitable for the country style of the establishment. The restaurant provides a good varied menu; the only small gripe I had about it was that when I ordered the mussels, I was told that they were out of season and so weren't being served. First of all, in this age of fast communication, mussels are never out of season, and secondly, if they are not being served for a period of months, or even weeks, then why not print out a menu without them? Desktop publishing is hardly a great effort nowadays. That being said, it in no way spoilt our stay, and the meal I did order was excellent. The Devonshire Arms' policy on dogs is fantastic. How sensible, in a country location where there are bound to be people wanting refreshment and accommodation with their dog, to allow canine access in all public areas and bedrooms. Me and my partner arrived at the hotel on a Sunday afternoon to spend a few nights away to see Chatsworth. We did struggle to get parked anywhere on the site upon arrival due to people visiting the hotel for Sunday dinners. We were advised there was a car park we could pay at further down, even though we were staying for a few nights and expected to get parked on the premises. I definitely think people who are staying at the hotel should get priority parking. Thankfully we were heading out that night and came back to plenty of spaces. Managed to get checked in after asking a waitress where to go as there wasn’t a reception desk to go to. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. We were asked if it was okay if a maintenance guy could come into our room to look at something under the carpet, which wasn’t too much of an issue and he was quick but he did leave loads of carpet fibres about the floor. Felt sorry for the staff as they knew it was bad timing but was the only time they could book him before Christmas. Breakfast some mornings was incredibly slow I have to say. We were always booked in for 8.40am for breakfast and one morning our cooked breakfast didn’t arrive till 9.30. Rooms could do with an update interior wise but nonetheless got a good nights sleep. The bar and dining area are incredibly cosy and well decorated, quite quiet at times. Overall had a nice stay, I do think the room is slightly pricey, it was nice we had breakfast included in the price.

This was a last minute and incredibly lucky find. One of the most gorgeous inns I’ve stayed in and the staff are simply delightful. In particular Emily and Havana took fabulous care of us- Mandy and her team are running a great place from cosy drinks in the bar, great food and service in the restaurant and fantastic overnight accommodation. Highly recommend for a stop over (like us) or a long weekend.

Not sure how this got a rating of excellent. The staff were pleasant. Did not eat here in the evening but breakfast was fine. We only booked late on friday on entering the room there was a definite smell of dog. When using the bathroom it was very dated. We should have refused to stop but when its late in the evening.

The Devonshire arms in baslow was a very quaint and beautifully decorated in for us to stay. It encapsulated the English countryside vibe that we were going for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in both the restaurant and pub area was excellent. We absolutely loved being there, and glad we were there for three nights. We would highly recommend this place to others! One thing for others, particularly Americans, to be aware of is that there is no air conditioning in the guestrooms. They do provide a fan in each room. There is a little bit of age with the building, but nothing that was a complete turn away. It could be seen mainly in the carpet in the hallway and guest rooms. These were not items to turn us away, though. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Choose to stay here as it was close to Chatsworth. Accommodation is 3 stars at best. Could not close one of windows and heating not on when we arrived. Floor creaking in bedroom. Room significantly overpriced for what it was. Service in the bar was like something out of Faulty Towers meal came out black and charred which I sent back but didn’t think to replace vegetables which were by then stone cold and hubby had finished his meal. We were told to add meal to the room initially but were then told to pay up now by a surly bar man. I booked this trip as part of a birthday trip which was more disappointing. Breakfast team were more friendly and professional but by that time the damage had been done.

The room was quite basic but equipped with everything you need and lots of lovely touches that made it feel home from home. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choice. Good location to get around and lovely walks on the Chatsworth estate close by. Totally enjoyed our stay.

I definitely think people who are staying at the hotel should get priority parking. Thankfully we were heading out that night and came back to plenty of spaces. We were asked if it was okay if a maintenance guy could come into our room to look at something under the carpet, which wasn’t too much of an issue and he was quick but he did leave loads of carpet fibres about the floor. Felt sorry for the staff as they knew it was bad timing but was the only time they could book him before Christmas. Breakfast some mornings was incredibly slow I have to say. We were always booked in for 8.40am for breakfast and one morning our cooked breakfast didn’t arrive till 9.30. Rooms could do with an update interior wise but nonetheless got a good nights sleep. The bar and dining area are incredibly cosy and well decorated, quite quiet at times. Just needed a spot of luxury after a heavy weekend. This fitted the bill to a tee. Very comfortable, and welcoming, with excellent food and pleasant service. The only possible complaint would be that the room was a bit cramped, but that happens in older buildings.

Friendly staff. Room and bed comfortable. Bathroom in need of a refurb. Food generally good, but a lot of the breakfast was diy. Tea needs boiling water not “hot water”. Surprising number of dishes off on Sunday evening - more off than on! Quality of food served was good though. Big mix up with desserts on last evening, but apologies made with financial compensation. Again quality of food very good - with wide choice of dishes at very reasonable prices (supper club menu).

Choose to stay here as it was close to Chatsworth. Accommodation is 3 stars at best. Could not close one of windows and heating not on when we arrived. Floor creaking in bedroom. Room significantly overpriced for what it was. Service in the bar was like something out of Faulty Towers meal came out black and charred which I sent back but didn’t think to replace vegetables which were by then stone cold and hubby had finished his meal. We were told to add meal to the room initially but were then told to pay up now by a surly bar man. I booked this trip as part of a birthday trip which was more disappointing. Breakfast team were more friendly and professional but by that time the damage had been done.

My friend and I only stayed here for a single night so we could visit Chatsworth House and we kept talking afterward about how we wished we had stayed at least another day because this inn was absolutely wonderful! The room we had was so adorable and lovely, plus they had complimentary snacks and refreshments for us! We arrived earlier than the check-in time and the staff was super lovely about holding our bags for us so we could go visit Chatsworth while waiting for our room to be ready. Even better, when we got back, the staff had already carried our luggage all the way up to our room for us! Seriously, such a nice staff! We definitely hope to visit again just so we can spend more time at the Devonshire Arms!

Stopover journey , room was very comfortable and warm, very clean. Food in the bar was excellent value for money. Nice touch was the bathroom toiletries and walking guides provided. Receptionist and bar staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

Lovely hotel. The staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful and made our stay extra special. Super comfy beds. Little extra touches in the bedroom like a free night time tipple. Fresh milk in little bottles. Nice biscuits, lovely toiletries. Great breakfast.

The 4 poster bed was comfortable and it was nice that there was a fridge downstairs for fresh milk. But it was quite expensive for the facilities. The staff were friendly, but service was patchy in the restaurant. The breakfast was nice, but the food in the restaurant was very unimaginative, especially for vegetarians. The atea was very pretty.

Me and my partner arrived at the hotel on a Sunday afternoon to spend a few nights away to see Chatsworth. This was a last minute and incredibly lucky find. One of the most gorgeous inns I’ve stayed in and the staff are simply delightful. In particular Emily and Havana took fabulous care of us- Mandy and her team are running a great place from cosy drinks in the bar, great food and service in the restaurant and fantastic overnight accommodation. Highly recommend for a stop over (like us) or a long weekend.

The Devonshire arms in baslow was a very quaint and beautifully decorated in for us to stay. It encapsulated the English countryside vibe that we were going for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in both the restaurant and pub area was excellent. We absolutely loved being there, and glad we were there for three nights. We would highly recommend this place to others! One thing for others, particularly Americans, to be aware of is that there is no air conditioning in the guestrooms. They do provide a fan in each room. There is a little bit of age with the building, but nothing that was a complete turn away. It could be seen mainly in the carpet in the hallway and guest rooms. These were not items to turn us away, though. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Genuinely dog friendly hotel - dogs allowed in all bar and restaurant areas and no passive aggressive signs about keeping them off the bed :-) Well run pub, though not as luxury as I was expecting having stayed in Devonshire Arms’ before - this one is right next to Chatsworth but not run by them! Bit of a busy location and I wouldn’t recommend the “cosy” double but that’s my fault for going cheap!

Such a welcoming place. Staff are very efficient and so friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere in the bar, with a good food menu, with well presented, tasty meals. The room was quite basic but equipped with everything you need and lots of lovely touches that made it feel home from home. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choice. Good location to get around and lovely walks on the Chatsworth estate close by. Totally enjoyed our stay.

Overall had a nice stay, I do think the room is slightly pricey, it was nice we had breakfast included in the price.
Me and my partner arrived at the hotel on a Sunday afternoon to spend a few nights away to see Chatsworth. We did struggle to get parked anywhere on the site upon arrival due to people visiting the hotel for Sunday dinners. We were advised there was a car park we could pay at further down, even though we were staying for a few nights and expected to get parked on the premises. I definitely think people who are staying at the hotel should get priority parking. Thankfully we were heading out that night and came back to plenty of spaces. Managed to get checked in after asking a waitress where to go as there wasn’t a reception desk to go to. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. We were asked if it was okay if a maintenance guy could come into our room to look at something under the carpet, which wasn’t too much of an issue and he was quick but he did leave loads of carpet fibres about the floor. Felt sorry for the staff as they knew it was bad timing but was the only time they could book him before Christmas. Breakfast some mornings was incredibly slow I have to say. We were always booked in for 8.40am for breakfast and one morning our cooked breakfast didn’t arrive till 9.30. Rooms could do with an update interior wise but nonetheless got a good nights sleep. The bar and dining area are incredibly cosy and well decorated, quite quiet at times. Overall had a nice stay, I do think the room is slightly pricey, it was nice we had breakfast included in the price.

A lovely Inn with very friendly and helpful staff. A great location if you are planning to visit Chatsworth House nearby. The food was well cooked and good quality, it would have been nice to have a few more healthy options though. I am very happy to recommend The Devonshire Arms in Baslow as a place to stay.

For £240 per night you would expect a lot better. The room was ok but tiny, the fridge for milk is downstairs in reception, loads of different flavour teas but only 2 sachets of coffee. The beds were very comfortable, I was a bit disappointed when we booked that there was only a twin room left expecting tiny single beds but that wasn't the case. We enjoyed the beer garden in beautiful sunshine and the food was good value and tasty, we had the Caesar salad and a burger, both good. I would probably try somewhere else if visiting Chatsworth again due to the amenities and the breakfast was a bit bland.

A lovely location, bedroom was clean and cosy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Thoughtful touches included wellies and umbrellas to borrow if the weather should be bad (which it wasn’t). Would recommend especially if planning to visit Chatsworth House which just a short drive away.

The rooms were small and the ones on the ground floor were noisy because of the proximity to the bar/restaurant. The food (breakfast and dinner) was fantastic though!
