I have stayed at the Ash Street Inn on many occasions when it was owned and managed privately. This visit was a bit of a shock with absentee management. Fortunately, the first evening a cleaning person was leaving when I tried to use my code to enter and it did not work. She tried to help but it still did not work.. She contacted something/one and I was able to enter. Then the code on my room did not work. Then the same thing happened the second night after I worried all day that I would not be able to enter again. And then neither code did not work again. Fortunately I had the phone number for the cleaning person and I called her and she came again. I realize i had emergency numbers available but this whole scenario was quite unsettling after the warm receptions I had always received before. I do realize times are changing but the experience was nothing like what I had enjoyed in the past. Also, there should be maps to show folks where the "Honey Pot" breakfast spot is. I grew up in Manchester and know the area well so it was not a problem for me. Interesting experience with modern day technology but not one I appreciated. Decor and amenities were quite wonderful. This Inn has a virtual checkin with no staff on premise except a lovely lady that did cleaning and helped with morning coffee. As a result there was no one to ask what the WIFI password was or how to lock the door when we left for dinner. the Inn hosts dinners for outside guests on weekend nights so parking is difficult and the noise level is high until they are finished..about 9:30 pm. Aside from shower amenities, the only amenity were q-tips. there was no hairdryer. Breakfast can be had down the street at a local coffee shop where Inn guest have a stipend. Don't get a muffin. The location is close to many restaurants if you dare walk through the neighborhood which smelled like marijuana at 8:00 in the morning on, and you are accosted by panhandlers. We put it down as an adventure, but would not recommend it to our friends.

Don’t believe what you read about Ash Street Inn; the reviews do not apply to the new owners. Nothing promised was not delivered. And if you’re expecting a quiet stay, don’t plan on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights. New owners are trying to add revenue by having select dinners. Smart idea but is lacking in the planning and logistics. The new idea for the Inn to open its kitchen for curated chef-selected menus, attracts loud, alcohol consuming GenX and Millennials who are not respectful of the paying overnight guests. What amenities does it not have that’s publicized? Breakfast onsite for one, and televisions in two rooms. Of course I booked one of the rooms that does not have a television inadvertently. On the first floor. Where the dinner was. Luckily, I had dinner plans and was picked up by my friend. Got back to the inn about 8:45 and if I needed to park, there was no parking within 2-3 blocks. The dinner is advertised to be from 6:30-8:30; it was going strong until almost 10pm. Also, if it’s important to your travel plans to stay at an Inn that has the owners on property, this is not the place, even though the reviews state that the owners are there. As a woman traveling alone I would have never chosen the Ash Street Inn because of it. Don’t believe the reviews; nothing applies because the ownership has changed hands and the new owners are riding on the coattails of the previous owners. Save yourself some griefs and $$s; stay at a Holiday Inn.
