The owners, passionate teachers dedicated to their region, its biodiversity, and local wildlife, will be delighted to share the treasures of the Avesnois region with you and help you discover this true haven of peace. Located just 5 minutes from the Mormal Forest, the largest forest in northern France, the gîte is a perfect starting point for hiking, mountain biking, cycling, or simply enjoying walks in the fresh air. The rolling landscapes, hedgerows, meadows, and charming villages have made this region, nicknamed the "Little Switzerland of the North," so renowned, on the edge of the Ardennes. Guests are free to enjoy the magnificent 3-hectare landscaped grounds, entirely designed by the owners. A truly exceptional garden, it offers a multitude of spaces conducive to relaxation and discovery: a pond accessible via a wooden boardwalk (not secured), a pétanque court, a teepee tent, sensory trails, an orchard with over 80 fruit trees, an organic vegetable garden, a greenhouse, and a wide variety of trees, flowers, and plants. Animal lovers will be delighted. The owners' three Golden Retrievers will be happy to accompany you to meet the property's inhabitants: sheep, chickens, a rooster, cats, and, depending on the season, the swallows that nest on the grounds—protected species emblematic of the Avesnois region. To extend your moments of relaxation, enjoy a 6-person spa located under a covered terrace. The first session is complimentary; subsequent sessions are available as an option directly from the owners. Those who enjoy sports will also appreciate the gym, located in the former stables and equipped with a treadmill, a bench, and weight training equipment. All types of shops are within a 5km radius. The gîte's location makes it easy to discover the region's must-see attractions: Maroilles and its famous cheese are just a few minutes away. The Mormal Forest is 5 minutes away. The Avesnois Regional Natural Park is nearby. ValJoly is 40 minutes away, with its 180-hectare lake, water sports, beach, and outdoor activities. Fourmies and its Textile Museum are nearby. Panda Cottage, located near the owners' house. The accommodation is on one level, although there are two small steps. Entry is through the living room, which has an open-plan, fully equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, pod and filter coffee makers, kettle, toaster, pressure cooker, refrigerator with freezer compartment, extractor hood, 4-burner induction hob, and dishwasher). Baby equipment is available (children's dishes, travel cot, bottle warmer, etc.). The living room has a comfortable sofa bed and a TV. Wi-Fi (fiber optic) is provided. A variety of games and books are available for guests. One bedroom, separated by a glass partition (accessible via a small step), is furnished with a 140x190cm double bed and a wardrobe. A bathroom (accessible via a small step) has a 0.90x1.56m shower, a washbasin, and an electric towel warmer. Separate macerating toilet with sliding door, storage space with washing machine and cleaning supplies. Shaded terrace furnished with garden table and chairs, and charcoal barbecue. Gym converted from the former stables, with bench and weight training equipment, treadmill. Bike-friendly accommodation available. The owners' 3-hectare grounds are fully accessible and beautifully landscaped, featuring an unfenced pond accessible via a wooden walkway, a teepee-style tent, a pétanque court, sensory trails, a ping-pong table, an orchard with over 80 fruit trees, an organic vegetable garden, a greenhouse, and numerous species of trees and plants. A 6-person heated hot tub under a covered terrace (first session free, subsequent sessions can be booked on-site with the owners). Parking for one vehicle on the property, secured by a gate. Energy costs, bed linen, towels and end-of-stay cleaning are included in the price.
