Visited for a short break and had a very pleasant stay. Friendly staff, efficiently run traditional pub serving excellent food. Generous supplies of tea, coffee etc in rooms, plus complimentary bottled water provided. Ample parking. Located in easy reach of Sherborne and Dorchester. Can recommend.

Excellent value given free cancellation option, free breakfast and tea/coffee/biscuits in room. Nice varied menu and nice bar area with plenty of seating. Rooms are clean, double bed and flat screen premium tv. Nice en-suite. Bear in mind, the bar closes at 2.30pm and reopens at 6pm this time of year.

Fantastic pub accomodations! My room was ground floor with its own entrance (think similar to an old American motor hotel) ten steps from the door to the pub & dining room. The room was clean, updated, and cozy. Excellent staff, and the food was excellent. I'm looking forward to my return.

Booked this as a short break away. Easy to book, quick confirmation. Good price. Received email allowing us to check in, as we wanted to arrive earlier, they arranged for key to be available for us. Room very comfortable, heating on for our arrival. Comfortable bed, tv, tea and coffee making facilities. Clean bathroom with shower. We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant, received a friendly warm welcome, nice staff. Great food and drink selection, reasonable prices. Breakfast was included, arranged what we wanted and what time the previous evening then just turn up at arranged time. Great service from Dean, a really friendly guy. Ate in the restaurant again on 2nd night as we were really impressed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hunters Moon and would highly recommend either a stay there or just going for a meal if you are in the area.

Conveniently located for touring Dorset with ready access to the countryside and coastal walking. Good selection of beers and ciders. Efficient staff and food options to suit all tastes. The option to have small prtions at dinner was very welcome and more hotels and pubs would do well to follow Dean's lead.

This is the fifth time in two years we have stayed here. Dean and his team have always been very welcoming and made us feel very welcome. The variety of food on offer in the restaurant is exceptional and what we like is, they offer you the choice of a small or regular size meal, great for those with a smaller appetite. His breakfasts really set you up for the day. The room is always clean and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. and bottled water is complementary. Great place for a short break. Looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful clean room, friendly staff, and good food. I told them that I am gluten intolerant, when I booked my stay and there was no problem with providing me with food that I could safely eat. Very good breakfast, cereal, fruit, toast and a delicious full English with good quality ingredients.

The room was clean, but did notice the bin in the bathroom hadn't been moved so behind not cleaned. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was brilliant and good quality foods used. I had a very good steak pie evening meal and bar staff friendly

I stayed here as a solo traveler for work - the room was clean and had everything i needed. I was even given an extra heater as it had turned cold but i didnt need to use it, the room was warm enough. All staff were lovely and very welcoming. The bar serves lovely food and pricing is reasonable. Would stay again next time Im in the area.

This is a very mixed review because while the staff were lovely, and the food served in the pub was delicious, parts of the room were not clean. The beds had clean crisp white sheets and were comfortable, but the floor had bits of flick, and the bedside tables were dusty. There was also some bits of hair in the shower. The bathroom was a bit grubby and the grout between the tiles was light grey in some places and black in others. The room was dated with some of the surfaces having varnish that had flaked off. Which would absolutely fine if it had been given a good clean.

The bathroom was scummy and dirty, they wouldn’t give me clean towels after being informed that If I leave in shower they would give fresh ones , if you need sleep early you will be kept awake , food was cooked earlier in week and heated up when ordered. Hash browns on breakfast were soggy, bacon looked although it would get up and walk off it was under cooked, the owner probably has no idea his staff are not cleaning rooms , the owner was very nice though

The state of the bathroom is unpleasant. The mould, limescale and general upkeep is severely lacking. The road noise due to the open windows results in a noisy room and the use of earplugs to get any sleep.

Kamer was zeer gehorig. Erg laag plafond en één heel klein raam, kamer daardoor erg donker. Zeer slecht bed. Veel last van rook in de kamer door de vuurkorf buiten.

I stay in hotels Monday to Friday week in week out, there was no water pressure so the water dribbled out of the shower head, the mattress was about 4 inches thick so you could feel the bed frame, I asked for sausage and toast for breakfast. The bread must of just passed over the toaster because it was far from toasted. This is one hotel I would not come back too

Friendly staff, good atmosphere in the pub and dining. Good food choice and drinks. Room comfortable, quality breakfast included, they also provided a packed lunch when I could not stay for breakfast.

Very nice friendly country pub hotel, we ate in the restaurant 2 nights, food excellent also breakfast small full English like a large one plenty of it ,our only gripe would be the room was very dark needed lights on most of the time very nice owners

Great service and food. However, the 3 star hygiene rating was a shock. It's a old venue, but the water pressure was really terrible.

I stayed here as a solo traveler for work - the room was clean and had everything i needed. 2 night stay whilst visiting Sherborne. Decent sized en-suite room next to the pub. No pub or road noise. Lovely evening meal and great breakfast. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend.

Unfortunately I was made to feel uncomfortable with confusion over the booking, the young lady was slightly abrasive and spoke very loudly regarding the mix up of my booking. The key was shoved at me and I asked where to go, fortunately another member or staff stepped in and took me to my room. I had to ask for the breakfast menu which I have to say was pretty limited and not very clear that there would be cereal on offer in addition. The outside was tatty, simple things like sweeping up the leaves would have made it feel clean. My bed was so soft and uncomfortable, dripping tap, something on the floor which looked like …… I won’t even say!! I definitely wouldn’t stay here again. Not good value for the price I paid. I will say that the gentleman that served breakfast was extremely friendly as was the other young staff member that showed me to my room….. the lady who served me behind the bar could do with some training on how to make a guest feel more welcome.

I had a brilliant stay at Hunters moon, Dean and his wife made me welcome as soon as I Came through the door. The Atmosphere was amazing and Dean was a real gentleman who was always looking out for me he was accommodating and always made sure I had all I needed. All the staff and residents made you feel like you had been there for years. They address me by name and ensured I received everything I requested. I had a brilliant stay at Hunters moon, Dean and his wife made me welcome as soon as I Came through the door. The Atmosphere was amazing and Dean was a real gentleman who was always looking out for me he was accommodating and always made sure I had all I needed. All the staff and residents made you feel like you had been there for years. They address me by name and ensured I received everything I requested. We decided on Hunters Moon as we were visiting Tank Museum. Host made us welcome and over the course of our stay we had a good laugh and jokes. Food was good and fairly priced. Location was great for us and easy to find. Overall very satisfied

Visited for a short break and had a very pleasant stay. Friendly staff, efficiently run traditional pub serving excellent food. Generous supplies of tea, coffee etc in rooms, plus complimentary bottled water provided. Ample parking. Located in easy reach of Sherborne and Dorchester. Can recommend.

Booked this as a short break away. Easy to book, quick confirmation. Good price. Received email allowing us to check in, as we wanted to arrive earlier, they arranged for key to be available for us. Room very comfortable, heating on for our arrival. Comfortable bed, tv, tea and coffee making facilities. Clean bathroom with shower. We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant, received a friendly warm welcome, nice staff. Great food and drink selection, reasonable prices. Breakfast was included, arranged what we wanted and what time the previous evening then just turn up at arranged time. Great service from Dean, a really friendly guy. Ate in the restaurant again on 2nd night as we were really impressed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hunters Moon and would highly recommend either a stay there or just going for a meal if you are in the area.

2 night stay whilst visiting Sherborne. Decent sized en-suite room next to the pub. No pub or road noise. Lovely evening meal and great breakfast. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend.

An absolutely lovely place to stay for a few days. Used it as a base to visit various sites around the area. I would highly recommend The Hunters Moon. Ace place!

Beautiful clean room, friendly staff, and good food. I told them that I am gluten intolerant, when I booked my stay and there was no problem with providing me with food that I could safely eat. Very good breakfast, cereal, fruit, toast and a delicious full English with good quality ingredients.

The room was clean, but did notice the bin in the bathroom hadn't been moved so behind not cleaned. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was brilliant and good quality foods used. I had a very good steak pie evening meal and bar staff friendly

A thoroughly enjoyable stay, from checking in to the time i left. Food choice and quality was excellent along with the draught beer. I will definitely return and will make a point of doing so.

The bathroom was scummy and dirty, they wouldn’t give me clean towels after being informed that If I leave in shower they would give fresh ones , if you need sleep early you will be kept awake , food was cooked earlier in week and heated up when ordered. Hash browns on breakfast were soggy, bacon looked although it would get up and walk off it was under cooked, the owner probably has no idea his staff are not cleaning rooms , the owner was very nice though

Our stay at hunters moon was great. We not only stayed there but we ate there too. The sunday carvery wasnt as good as expected but we were late eating. Rooms could do with little update. But bedding was immaculate. Manager was a great host. Went above and beyond to help everyone. Will definitely stay again. When in the area. Thanks for your hospitality

This is the fifth time in two years we have stayed here. Dean and his team have always been very welcoming and made us feel very welcome. The variety of food on offer in the restaurant is exceptional and what we like is, they offer you the choice of a small or regular size meal, great for those with a smaller appetite. His breakfasts really set you up for the day. The room is always clean and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. and bottled water is complementary. Great place for a short break. Looking forward to our next visit.

I got to the pub the land lady was very helpful as in showing me to the room etc but the room had a couple of marks on the ceiling where someone had splattered a spider of a moth or something, there was a small piece of plaster missing. There where some cushions on the bed that looked like my Nan had on her sofa in the 1930s. The bathroom wasn't to bad but the shower had mould on the ceiling for which I didn't use. The land lady was very nice but the land lord just liked his local drinkers when he served me he seemed very hostile towards me, he just wanted to chat to his locals at the bar at £6.50 a pint you would think that he would be a bit more friendly towards paying guests. The food was very nice and so was the breakfast. Just the basil fawlty of the premise spoiled it for me. One day he might go and someone with hosting skills will take the pub over.

I would call the room we stayed in cheap and cheerful. Room was pretty clean, the only issue we found was quite a bit of black mould in the shower cubicle. The staff were very friendly and remembered my wife’s intolerances for breakfast. The breakfast was very good, well cooked and nice ingredients used. We decided not to have any evening meals after reading about the service charge they automatically add to bills. We don’t agree with this and never understand why places do this as it only upsets customers and puts them off returning. If you are looking for a cheap room and a good base to explore the area then this place is a good option.
