INATEL Albufeira Hotel

Property is aged but on the beach and near oldtown. Wifi spotty.

Staff friendly. Nice and convenient to the beach and to Albufeira old town. Unfortunately when we were checking in we were told that the main pool was closed for renovation. Although this didn't spoil our holiday completely, as we were close to the beach anyway, I felt it would have been nice to been told this before arriving. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because it has a pool so as you can imagine our disappointment to hear it was closed. We spent some time around the closed pool to sunbathe but this was not relaxing as there were workers drilling and making lots of noise so we were unable to relax. It would have been nice to know that the pool was closed before arriving, and there was no mention of any reimbursements. Some money off our stay or some drinks at the bar would have been nice.

Clean and comfortable. Only one lift working was unacceptable with nil visible effort to repair other lift!

Upon arrival I was told by the somewhat rude person at the front desk that the pool was closed for 10 days for maintenance. This is the start of the busy tourist season wouldn’t you think the new tile work could have been done within the previous 2 months? Place is clean but very tired including ripped carpeting and many tile cracks in the washroom. I asked for ice and was told to go to the bar where I ran into rude person #2 who preceded to give 4 cubes in a plastic cup and told me me that they don’t have anymore ice, WHAT? I did get another plastic glass with 4 more cubes. 4 of the 6 people that I came in contact with over my 2 night stay were extremely rude and curt. This was our only experience like this on our 2 week trip in beautiful Portugal. It appears in their pictures that this is an ocean front property but don’t be fooled because it is not. I am at odds as to why there are many exceptional and wonderful reviews because this place is a 2 star at best. I would never return and would not recommend this property to anyone else.

We had a sea view room and it was lovely the view was the highlight, the room was comfortable enough what you’d expect for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold bits plenty of everything to go around. It seemed more locals stay in this hotel as we didn’t encounter any other English tourists. It’s a short walk from the escalators going down to the old town strip so you’re just outside of all the partying. Staff were helpful we had to checkout at 2.30am for our flight and they provided us breakfast to take with us. The only suprise was the pool is actually across the road from the hotel, we didn’t even visit it as it was chilly and it’s not a heated pool. We weren’t informed about it and had to ask but likely as it was only 18-20 degrees during our stay!

Nice location on the beach but disappointed that the bar closed at 7 and had to go up to the sister hotel for that bar and there as well to get towels for the beach (didn’t make sense for the beach hotel not to handle the towels).

The pool was closed for 8 days of our trip. We wouldn’t have booked here if this was communicated to us in advance

The hotel is divided into two buildings. The one on the beach does not have the same amenities as the other building--for example, you had to walk (5 minutes) to the other building to use the pool or get ice. The bathroom walls are such that turning the light on at night disrupts anyone sleeping, That said, the sea view and balcony right on the beach made up for any minor inconveniences.

Good free parkimg right at the hotel. Nice clean beach with a beach bar next door. Breakfast staff were all pleasant and efficient keeping tables cleaned quickly so there was always a clean table to sit at.

Staying at this hotel had versions of "The good, the bad & the ugly"! The good being the location snd breakfast. The bad was that it took over an hour to be checked in by 1 receptionist- it was check in time so should of had more staff on. The ugly being there was an major issues with flies (coming from outside , have no problem with nature) but the issue was it took 2 days for them to sweep up the piles of dead flies that were all over reception.

The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was very good. Location brilliant.

Lovely quiet hotel away from the crowded area. However seemed to have a lot of small flies in the hotel and nothing to solve this issue.

Tive vários problemas, mas o principal foi abrir a porta do quarto e ele estar totalmente sujo pelo hospede anterior. Pior paguei por um quarto com vista para o mar e não tinha quarto limpo. Infelizmente foi terrível.

Huge cockroach and droppings in the shower, front desk sent a custodian to kill it but didn’t offer a change of room or cleaning of shower. Very different experience than when I was there 2 years ago. Building and rooms are old and dingy, mold in bathrooms, etc. But they offer a nice buffet breakfast.

Kamer met zeezicht is echt de moeite! Prachtig strand met wandelmogelijkheden. Ontbijt veel keus. De kamer is in orde enkel de kitranden van de douchen waren volledig beschimmeld, hier mag wel echt iets aan gedaan worden. Gratis parking, groot en makkelijk bereikbaar.

Good near beach inconvenient having to get taxis to eating places. Floors dusty under beds and furniture. Long wait when changing rooms.

Rude reception staff on arrival. The property images and description is misleading on this and other booking sites. There are 2 hotels with the same name. They sell you ‘Luxury’ and then dump you in the other site that is dated and in need of a refurbishment! I was told on arrival that I’d have to pay €40 more per night to stay in the beachfront hotel. The reception staff admitted that they use the beach front hotel as their only address for both sites, and where my Uber dropped me off - I was then made to drag my new suitcase ‘up the hill’ and along the long driveway! I felt mislead at that point in time. I chose a city view room and my view was of a car park of another property and a bit of a dumping ground. The balcony was full of bird excrement and not cleaned in the 4 nights of my stay! The cheap Ikea furniture was badly damaged and falling apart, the bathroom shower was a drizzle and the tiles were damaged and polyfiled rather than replaced. The only requirement that the hotel had was air con, the rest was very disappointing. I chose the hotel on this site as it was the closest to the restaurants. As a solo traveller I wanted to make my trip as safe as possible, instead I was left to walk up a hill and a long driveway making me feel a little unsafe so I had to use Ubers which made my trip more expensive. All in all, a very disappointing stay and be aware that unless you chose a sea view room, you will be mislead and dumped in the basic hotel further up the road.

Romslig rom med balkong mot havet. Litt slitt, men størrelsen kompenserte. Renhold hver dag. Frokost hadde det vi trengte og personalet var hyggelig med tanke på allergivennlige alternativer.

We stayed for 5 nights in a sea view room on B&B basis. Room was lovely, fantastic to have view overlooking beach. No hot drink making facilities in room which we would have liked. Small fridge good for chilling water etc - ice available but from bar which was in other part of hotel over road. Pool also over road, we found the set up a bit strange. Breakfast was in same part of hotel as our room, there was enough choice of usual buffet items, fresh fruit options excellent. Plenty of free parking - hotel location excellent for walking distance to old town Albufeira approx 10/15 mins. Hotel was very good value and an excellent base. We felt it lacked atmosphere and seemed a bit soulless but the position right on the beach and view from balcony was perfect.

Here’s my experience to help you decide. 1) staff are friendly but front desk is severely understaffed, systems are archaic, check-in’s take forever, and thus waiting your turn for something as quick as - can I have a beach towel, or where is the nearest store will cost you 15-20 mins. 2) upon arrival my room wasn’t ready (OK), I changed in the bathroom, asked for info about the property such as where is the pool, the beach, normal questions. This was a burden to the staff. I stroll to the pool (need a key card) only to find that towels are back in the lobby! Refusing to walk back just yet, I walk to the beach, but then wanting to layout, I walk back to the lobby for a towel. It was only then I learn you need to leave €20 for a towel, in cash. I don’t have cash, my fault, they direct me to an atm 5 min away but the fees are exorbitant. Would have been nice if they pointed me to the Santander which is reasonable. The absence of an intro to the property & basic info would have saved me 20,000 steps. Lots of basic hotel incompetence. 3) Breakfast was a decent spread, no complaints, had all the staples you would expect if you are from a western country (eggs in several way, bacon, fruits, cheeses, yogurt and toppings etc) 4) had the buffet dinner night before my flight & steak was tough, no wine by glass, mash and sting beans not fresh/from scratch. Great desserts though! 5) my room was super spacious, fridge hardly worked, toiletries cheap & so much unfriendly plastic.

Voor een 3-sterren hotel hebben wij, een ruime kamer gehad alleen de 2x een 1 persoonsbed was niet erg handig als je samen wilt slapen. Beiden bedden kon je wel naar elkaar toe schuiven, maar je gaat de split in het midden houden. Niet erg handig maar de bedden waren wel lekker niet te hard of te zacht

Good hotel. 15 min walk from old town. Swimmingpool is located at the other hotel across from this hotel. Rooms are good, nice view to the sea. Showers are covered with glass into room with a scrambled area. I prefere more privacy. Breakfast is ok, nothing special. Best part is the view and the proximity of the beach.

The good things about this hotel are the location straight on the beach, easy walk to old town and the good size of the rooms. What was not great was the fact that despite the hotel being almost empty, they would not allow us to check in when we arrived 45min before the check in time. My husband was feeling quite sick so he had hoped to be able to lay down. Not one of the 3 front reception staffwe encountered ever smiled! The decore in this hotel would be better suited to a hospital. Very uninviting. Our room was large with a great verandah overlooking the ocean, however the bed sheets were too short for the beds so our feet kept on touching the waterproof mattress protector and the quilts had no covers on them. I wonder if they replace those items between guests? No coffee or tea making facilities either in the room or foyer.

Beautiful ocean view room with a balcony, convenient location, easy walk to old town shops and restaurants, yet in a quiet location. Nice breakfast included. Would love to stay there again when visiting the area.

Room was clean and spacious with a nice balcony . The hotel is a ten minute walk to the bars and cafes .There was a good selection of food for breakfast definitely something for everyone . There is no kettle in the room . Overall good value for money

Got the ocean view room and it was amazing sleeping to the ocean waves. The room was clean, parking was plentiful and beds were comfortable. Wifi isnt as strong but the TV had a good selection. Good breakfast with lots of choices.

Location was great. Daytime front desk was extremely rude and couldn’t check in until almost 1700.

My stay at Inatel was very pleasant. I found the staff very helpful and considerate. My son had come to join me for a few days to celebrate a significant birthday and they managed to put him in the room next to mine even though I had not requested this. Neither had I informed them of my upcoming anniversary but, when I returned to the room, there was a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket accompanied by a card with birthday greetings in my native language!(Gaelic) I would recommend this accommodation to anyone and I imagine that I will be availing of the facilities again in the not too distant future!

The reception staff is friendly, polite and helpful. They ordered for me 4 different excursions around Algarve; one of them got cancelled, and my money was promptly returned. The furniture throughout the hotel (chairs, armchairs, sofas) are very comfortable and of high quality. The cleaning staff kept my room in good shape and well stocked with all required items. Excellent breakfast is included in the room rate. The location of the hotel is also excellent - close to everything in Albufeira, including the main city beach.

Make sure you book the right hotel, it was advertised as on the beach but when we arrived, to the hotel on the beach unknown to me and my daughter, the staff at the reception told us it’s not that hotel but there sister hotel up on the hill about a minute walking distance. That’s when our nightmare began. The room was like a dungeon, it had an awful smell and we found silver fish crawling around the bathroom floor. We asked to be moved and was told no rooms were available in the beach one but would be moved to the same type of room on the 1st floor. Same disgusting smell. The male staff was so rude huffing and puffing when i told him this was unacceptable and false advertisement. I asked for a manager and was told I’d have to wait until tomorrow to possibly move hotels. I looked online and saw that they had 3 rooms available after being told no availability as they didn’t want to upgrade me to a sea view room. I ended up paying to upgrade as it was disgusting having to spend one night let alone 3. It was a much better room but the hassle and false advertising they agreed with in the end is not exceptable.

Room not available even after 4:00pm. Staff was very rude and not helpful at all!

This was our second stay at Inatel and we are due to go back there next February. What stood out this time is we were given a free room upgrade and the kitchen agreed to let us go to breakfast early on our last day so we weren't late for our flight. All good.

Excellent, spacious, modern room. No early check-in but they stowed my bags. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Offered a take-away breakfast when they found I had to leave before breakfast!

We had a sea view room which is very picturesque. Breakfast buffet was very good. Great location as can walk to Old Town either by walking the beach or pathway. Would recommend as great location and overall a great place.

Stayed a month at your INATEL Hotel on the Beach, very nice hotel and wonderful view of ocean, The last evening we ate dinner across the street in your other hotel, The food was terrible, so glad we didn’t purchase the half board, it’s such a shame you don’t have better quality of food, We had alot of delicious Portuguese food during our time in the Algarve, I would recommend your Beac Hotel but not to eat dinner across the street

The hotel had a smell about it ! The breakfast Was inedible and cold, even the orange juice was sour Only good thing was rooms cleaned every day

Utmärkt frukostbuffé!

Das Hotel hat eine top Lage und man braucht nur 10 Minuten zu Fuß zur Innenstadt. Die Poolanlage war super und auch der Weg zum Strand nicht weiter. Nicht gut war leider das Frühstück, die Qualität des Essens war sehr Minderwertig und das hat man auch geschmeckt.
