Hotel Francis

The property was very run down. The parking lot and road going in was terrible. We went to have breakfast the next morning and was told they ran out of food. Our tv didn’t work and the air conditioner barely worked. Very disappointed.

Pool was IN NEED OF ATTENTION, NO CIRCULATION, ALGAE Room was in need of upgrade, paint, door and casing copromised

Off the road, real quiet. Nice staff. They are in the process of updating some of the rooms, so there is some construction but nothing crazy loud.

The property was in a pretty location and rooms were very clean. I had 2 rooms with 4 teens and 2 adults, although the price was great, i feel like i was mislead. And false advertisement. Pool hasn't been cleaned, it was green and couldn't be used. The internet was so bad it was no tv working. So i had 4 teens with no pool and no tv. Even though it was advertised as having both. I tried getting my money back before walking in the room but it was a last minute booking, no money back.

The pool is not open. And it is very hot and would have been nice to swim in the evening.

Hotel is currently being remodeled. Television reception was fuzzy and the air conditioner didn’t work correctly so the room was warmer than it should have been. There was a group of guys playing rap music and drinking beer each night I was there. No exit signs or hallways were lit and this isn’t a place for a woman Travelling alone to stay. They are also overcharging for the rooms as there was dead insects on the curtains and the room wasn’t very clean.

We stayed in Oct2025. The Hotel Francis is a old motel with relatively new owners. You can tell they are slowly sprucing up the rooms, common areas, exterior, and parking area. It has a ways to go, but the management was very responsive. The rooms have new TVs, beds, AC units, etc, but our room did not have renovations of the bathroom, vanity, entrance, etc. You know you are in a old motel. The pool looked well kept and a families were swimming with their kids. They've made sure everything works, and I felt completely safe there. The breakfast is a modest self-serve: coffee, OJ, toast, cereal, etc. Based on my conversation with the friendly staff, the owners have great plans. In the meantime I'd stay again if I wanted to rest my head.

The Hotel Francis is the ruins of a nice property where the management has stopped doing any significant maintenance. The parking lot paving is broken up, the lighting is unpredictable and the grounds are a mess. My son and I checked into our first room, where the carpet was loose and the room stank strongly of mold. We requested a replacement room on the second storey (assuming there had been flooding on the ground floor) but this unit was also moldy. The towel racks in the bathroom were rusted. The light over the sink took five minutes to turn on. We left early in the morning, not wanting to take our chance with the free breakfast. This property should be removed from Orbitz immediately. It is a slum!

The hotel is an older building with no frills and very basic. However the staff is always pleasant, the atmosphere was quiet and the pond, lawn, trees and grounds around the hotel are well manicured and absolutely beautiful! I loved listening to the geese on the pond and other night sounds as I fell asleep!

The parking lot had hose filled in with big rocks and dangerous to walk through the parking lot we requested a downstairs room and when we arrived, we were towed all they had was upstairs thank God they were able to find it downstairs, cause we would not be able to stay there if not, found the room look like it was still under construction the beds we're terrible if somebody tried to open the door of the room two times while we were in the room, we reported it to the front desk and told him that could be very dangerous and the concern just didn't seem like it was no big deal. I just hope whoever's doing that doesn't get shot. I believe the motel was still under construction and open too soon. The breakfast if you call at breakfast was terrible. I just seen for the money we put out we just didn't get what we paid for. Hope they get their stuff together for the future because I had a chance with me to repeat staying in there, but not now

Our room was dirty, floors filthy, smelled like an ashtray, tv didn’t work, dirt hanging in cobweb like strings from ceiling. Roaches on the floor and walls.The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, tub dirty, mirror dirty. My air b&b cancel last minute so I had no other choice, we were on the road with our dogs when this happened. We were charged 25$ per dog per day per 2 dogs for two days do an extra $100 for two days. I feel this excessive considering the plaque on the front desk stating a “small fee” will be charged. The carpet was so dirty my socks were black I was afraid to walk barefoot in the room. I will say that Frankie the desk clerk was wonderful, friendly, helpful. As a CS supervisor for the USPS I recognize and acknowledge excellent service. The whole place was dirty snd run down. I saw a maid dragging two clean white mops on the ground thru the dirt walking down the corridor. The other two rooms in our party were worse. Roaches, dirty, no A/C, broken fridge and tv. The bathroom door locked my 6 yr old nephew in and had to get help to get him out, the door was stuck. This place should be downgraded from dump to s**t hole. We’ll never stay there again.

The desk clerk was nice and accommodating. The facility is a dump. We checked into a room and the toilet was running nonstop when I raised the toilet lid water was splashing onto the seat. Went back to the desk got another room when we pulled the covers back on the bed there was a wad of hair between the sheets. We then checked out and went to the Best Western down the street same price 100x nicer. Stay at the Hotel Francis if you want to see what a non updated 1960’s hotel was like.

Property is dated! Location is good but hotel needs some attention!

For an older motel it was in good shape. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

The room's carpet was not vacuumed. There were little white flakes all over the place. The maid did not clean the room on the second day.

The lobby, rooms, etc did not look anything like the pictures on the website. Everything was old and outdated. The carpet was so dirty that the bottom of my grandchildren’s feet were literally black after running around in the room. We will never stay there again.

THE REFIGERATOR STUNK SO BAD YOU COULD EVEN SMELL IT WITH THE DOOR CLOSED. FRONT DESK WAS NICE BUT SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANOTHER FRIDGE. TV DID NOT WORK. HAD ROACHES AND FLIES. BED VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND NASTY UNDER THE MATTRESS. SHOULD DEFINITELY GET A REFUND!!!

The room was obviously not cleaned. There was hair and bugs and dirt and grime in the corners. We didn’t even end up staying there.

Hotel was filthy dirty, bed sheets were used and dirty . Tv did not work . A large rat was outside the room.

The hotel rooms were absolutely disgusting. The sheets were dirty, there was dust on everything. Just not cleaned well at all. The room also smelled like someone had been smoking weed.

This is a older hotel and it needs alot of updates but it was good for the night. Our phone didn't work and some lights didn't work but we had tv and air so we were fine.

My only dislike is the Television reception. Apparently, they are using a streaming provider for their television reception, and it was consistently "buffering" causing the viewer to miss portions of the show. If they continue to use this service, I suggest they upgrade to more bandwidth or fiber. Everything else was excellent from the staff at check-in to the exceptional room. I will stay there again.

Loved the location, very short drive to the historic downtown area, without the historic downtown area prices. The little pond was very nice and there were a few geese and ducks who were welcoming. Food was just fine, not great but the dinner was perfectly adequate. It looks like the management is trying to complete some upgrades. Office staff could not have been more helpful or nicer. Even the housekeepers and maintenance guy were nice and friendly. I’d stay there again for the peacefulness.

The chair in the room was missing springs and cushion!

It's very difficult to block out light coming in around the curtains in order to sleep / the TV should be upgraded soon / the bathroom needs some serious upgrading & attention / no counter space to speak of, very very old sink / extra blankets should be placed in the room somewhere for customers to access if room becomes too cold at night / the locks on the doors are very dated....I was told that the property has been sold to new owner / investors and extensive remodel in in near future. The young lady at the front desk when I checked in is very customer oriented, very helpful and makes the customer fell welcomed to the property.

Not a good enough stay to use again because of their unwillingness to allow me to stay 4 extra hrs even if i paid a portion of the daily rate to do so. Had it not been so noisy might have been willing to pay for a whole extra day.

No tv service and brown contaminated water.

It is a very old Hotel. We went to a night wedding and came back into a very cold room. The unit had quit and we had to change rooms. The new room was warm when we went to bed but the heater had shut down by morning. The room was very clean but that is about all I can say for it.

The customer service here is unbelievable. Everyone is friendly. When speaking with Maryan, she was so helpful and kind. She helped me more than I can ever say. I would definitely book here again.

Management is very difficult to work with. It was stated to my son they would issue a refund for a stay they cancelled. Once Expedia contacted them they stated they unfortunately could not refund the money. No damages were reported, but they would not refund me. I paid for 5 night nights and he only stayed 1 night.

The hotel room was less than expected when it came to any kind of comfort. The service was extremely rude, no cable, our room smelled of weed smoke which we complained of and they did not offer to move us. My husband got extremely nauseous and still nothing was done. My grandson and kids were told they couldn’t swim and locked the pool area 2 hours before it was supposed to regardless of it being 83 degrees outside. Do NOT STAY HERE!

The hotel itself is no-frills and very basic, obviously an older building that hasn’t been well maintained. However the staff is always friendly and helpful and the grounds outside are well manicured and absolutely beautiful. The hotel is right beside a beautiful pond and I enjoyed hearing the geese and other night critters as I fell asleep.

It was fine for a weekend get away. Very close to restaurants and plantations. Pillows were awfully thin and bed was not very comfy. Staff was great. Needs some updating.

It was right near the Myrtles is where we spent my 40th birthday was great time

The desk staff were very nice and helpful. Although the motel was a "Remodel," it was clean, the breakfast was really good. The negative was that the television cable service blinked off and on. That was annoying. However, for the amount that we paid, it was nice.

dirty, couldn't get some major channels on tv, no change for $20 bill at check in counter, poor condition of street to hotel and parking lot, breakfast ended too early, broken bathroom door knob and loose toilet seat and a musty smelling room. a cheap raunchy hotel. should be classified as a two star facility not a three.

This is a decent place to stay; dated but friendly and clean. They offer a dinner service which is nice and the breakfast is very good. It didn't appear that there was any housekeeping available during a 3 day stay. Nice staff and a convenient place to stay.

It was a nice place to stay it was affordable the hotel itself is relatively older and can use some remodeling but it was still very good and it was a free dinner and breakfast included with the room the staff was very nice

I have been staying here for ten years now. This is a convenient place to if you are working at the plant. I've seen this place go from good to okay, okay to bad, bad to horrible and making it's way back up again. I look forward to seeing how they improve this place. Not offering dinner was a bummer this last stay but understood why.

This hotel is old and run down. On the website and booking agencies it claims to offer "breakfast", it really doesn't unless 6 bagels and warm yogurt pass as breakfast. It used to have a good breakfast and also had better service. It is now a bare bones, run down hotel. It is better to stay elsewhere, the rate does not justify the condition of the rooms, the property in general, and most certainly it should not advertise that it offers breakfast.
