Darkhill Hotel

The hotel turned out to not be what was advertised at time of booking. The pool, spa and gym area is rundown, and clearly needs investment. If this had been rectified prior to my arrival then I would be giving this hotel a 5 star review.

Chambre répond au critères simple et propre. Travaux en cours dans l’hôtel donc du bruit et rue très bruillante. Les finitions dans la chambre sont à revoir ( miroir cassé, tv qui ne fonctionne pas, bouton chasse d’eau H.S, piscine pas chauffé, jacuzzi H.S). Le personnel est cependant au top sauf une femme à l’accueil pour la réservation d’un taxi direction l’aéroport.

Vores ophold på Hotel Darkhill var desværre en meget dårlig oplevelse. Der blev aldrig gjort ordentligt rent på værelset. Personalet kom kun for at rede sengene, og en af dagene blev der ikke engang gjort dette. Ved swimmingpoolen nægtede supervisoren at lade mig svømme, medmindre jeg købte en plastik-badehætte af ham til en urimelig høj pris. Dette krav var aldrig oplyst på forhånd, hverken ved booking eller ved check-in. Hotellet har ingen fungerende aircondition eller klima. På vores værelse virkede hverken aircondition eller lys, og derfor blev vi først flyttet til et andet værelse kl. 01 om natten, hvilket er helt uacceptabelt. Swimmingpoolen skulle åbne kl. 08. Da vi mødte op kl. 10.45, sad personalet stadig og spiste morgenmad. Vandet i poolen var iskoldt og beskidt, og sauna og dampbad var ikke tændt. Efterfølgende måtte vi gå tilbage til værelserne for at tage bad, da faciliteterne ikke var brugbare. Jeg ved ikke, hvordan hotelstjerner vurderes i Istanbul, men dette hotel lever på ingen måde op til et 4-stjernet niveau. Det svarer højst til 1 stjerne. Morgenmaden var meget kedelig og mindede mere om herbergsniveau. Samlet set lever hotellet slet ikke op til sine standarder, og vi kan på ingen måde anbefale Hotel Darkhill.

There are several facilities in the hotel either not working or they are not maintained. The staff are not very friendly specially in the restaurant.

I feel that you have miss sold this hotel. You have listed it as a 4 star hotel with spar. I dont see a spar down stairs. The pool has broken lights. The jacuzzi doesnt work. The pool fountain is broken. The pool isnt even heated. The steam room is broken. The GYM is out of service. The hair salon isn’t in service. The Turkish bathrooms look dirty. The only thing down there that was working until today was the sauna. And now that doesn’t work any more !!

They claim they have gym, but there is no gym in the hotel.

Première nuit fut horrible car chambre située en dessous des cuisines (ventilation assourdissante) mais ils nous ont proposé une autre chambre dès le lendemain et tout est rentré dans l'ordre. Pensez à prendre un bonnet de bain si vous allez à la piscine. L'eau est un peu froide. Petit déjeuner choix limité mais a le mérite d'avoir quelques spécialités locales. Les serveurs ont tendance à débarrasser avant que l'on finisse et c'est un peu perturbant. Nous avons adoré le rooftop et les bains turcs même si ce n'était pas très chauffé (2 salles dont une plus intimiste). Quartier dans le prêt à porter. Nous avons pu acheter des magnifiques robes pour nos filles pour un mariage à venir. Prix très corrects. Ravis de notre séjour dans l'ensemble.

Although the hotel rooms are clean, but the other facilities are not maintained well. There wasn’t hot water in the rooms for several times, the Spa was crowded, the pool’s water was cold, the breakfast area was messy. I think the staff need to be trained to be more friendly.

Rummet var smutsigt, med mögel i duschen (under tvålhållaren, vid handfat och toalett), mycket damm under sängen och bakom möbler. Det fanns bara en liten redan använd toarulle. Frukosten var mycket dålig – när vi kom kl. 09:40 fanns nästan ingenting kvar (ingen bröd, skinka m.m.), personalen stod vid sina telefoner, och kl. 10:00 stängdes kaffemaskinen. När jag bad om kaffe fick jag svaret: “bara vatten finns”. Frukosten stängde dessutom redan kl. 10:00, vilket är väldigt tidigt för gäster på semester. Städerskan började varje morgon redan kl. 08:30 att knacka på dörren för att städa, flera gånger under förmiddagen, vilket störde vår vila. Hissen fungerade dåligt – den hade inget minne, och vi som bodde på plan 1 hamnade ofta på andra våningar eller högst upp eftersom den stannade för andra gäster. I spa-området fick vi använda handdukar från rummet och personalen krävde duschmössa, trots att detta inte stod någonstans eller fanns skyltat.

Airco werkt niet zo goed, kamer was niet schoon.

Kamer wordt niet gekuist, lakens worden niet ververst. Elke dag komen ze gewoon de bedden opmaken en zijn ze weg.

Die Lage vom Hotel ist super man konnte zu Fuß schnell vieles erreichen...Das Hotel ansich ist modern und das Personal ist sehr sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet und waren sauber.Das einzige was nicht in Ordnung war und uns sehr enttäuscht hat sind die Badezimmer die waren nicht sauber also man sollte vielleicht die Fugen austauschen wenn man die nicht mehr sauber bekommt und die anderen Sachen auch!!

The location of the hotel was great as i could walk to most attrections etc. The hotel itself was a different matter. It was dark in the lobby and rooms even with lights on. Aircon just did not cool the rooms down which even after telling management nothing was done. Toilet seats broken and cleaners did not even really clean. Made up bed and gave some new towels but that was it. The day of checkout the cleaner walks in at 8.30am (checkout 11.30) whilst we was asleep. When i asked her why she entered our room, she said we should have left the room by this point. Clearly no communication from management to cleaners. There was also an incident in the hotel restaurant however with this the hotel management reacted quickly and resolved. The swimming area was not hygienic at all. Overall i would not rate this a 4* but a 2* sounda more reasonable

Breakfast very poor ( very limited choices) and stuff not welcoming on the restaurant / hygiene level is not good enough/ room not clean enough for me/ not recommended 😔

Super Zeit gehabt nur das Personal das die Zimmer sauber macht hat einfach nur den Müll raus gebracht und neue Handtücher hingelegt war nicht so schön der Rest vom Personal war super Hilfsbereit und nett

Rengørings damerner skal have top point for deres arbejde.! Rene, redte og pæne værelser med nye håndklæder hver dag ! Tak for dem. Dog ville jeg nok ikke vælge det her hotel igen, det ikke et hotel man har lyst til at opholde sig på, eller benytte de faciliteter som de tilbyder, men til at sove er det helt fint og godt centralt. Morgenmads kvaliteten er så lav, at vi valgte at spise ude istedet for, tiltrods for at Istanbul er vanvittig dyrt at opholde sig i. Ellers var personalet venlige, dog er jeg ikke et sekund itvivl om at dette kan vende, vi spurgte om en pris til lufthavnen flere gange ved hjemturen og her kom den ene armet tvyknægt lidt frem. De tilbyder afhentning ved IST lufthavn til 2500 lira, dette koster kun ca. 900 lira med et tændt taxameter. Hotellet har måske været et 4 stjernet hotel, men det er det altså desværre ikke mere.

Die Unterkunft ist für einen städtetrip ganz gut. Im hotel hält man sich ja nicht lange auf. Nur schlafen, evtl. Frühstücken und duschen etc. Im Bad war etwas schimmel in den fugen, aber war für mich nicht so tragisch,da ich es nicht direkt berühre. Der schlafbereich war voll in Ordnung.. Die minibar war leer. Wasser wäre schon gut gewesen. Aber kann man sich direkt neben dem hotel kaufen für sehr wenig Geld. 3-4 Lira.. Das Frühstück war super.. Bietet alles an, was man braucht. Das Restaurant auf der Dachterrasse ist auch ganz ok. Das einzige was wir zu bemängeln hatten: das viertel wo das hotel liegt, wird abgesperrt. So dass nur Fahrzeuge mit bestimmten Lizenzen rein fahren dürfen. Unser shuttle Taxi durfte nicht rein fahren. Wir mussten 20 Minuten bergauf bei 30 Grad unsere Koffer schleppen.. Und das ohne Navi. Das sollte das hotel schon in der Beschreibung irgendwo mitteilen. Die Straßen Bahn ist gleich neben dem hotel. Mit der kommt man überall hin, wo man hin will. Der Hamam und die Massagen sind auch top. Ah, die Boutiquen in dem Viertel sind nicht für Privatpersonen. Es wird nur auf großen Mengen an Geschäftsleute verkauft, die mit Kleidung handeln. War ziemlich schade. Im großen und ganzen, eine sehr schöne Zeit gehabt.

Das Familienzimmer hatte 2 eigene Zimmer und 4 Betten. Die Lage war gut. Frühstück war völlig ausreichend.

Stay as far away from this hotel as you possibly can. First the room. The mattresses are hard like concrete. I even switched my room and still unbelievable uncomfortable. There are no lights on the room besides the end table lamps. The room phone was not working, so you can't call the front desk. The bathrooms are moldy and the sockets ripped out of the walls. I wish I could attach the pictures I took. Then, the pool and sauna area. It's actually nice down there. The pool super cold but manageable. One evening I went to the pool and then the Turkish bath. As every time, I lay face down on the middle table relaxing. I did notice somebody walk in but didn't really pay to much attention. All of a sudden this dude starts rubbing my back. I was like woooooo hold on. Stop! I got up and this dude was completely naked with a hard on standing in front of me. I got really mad and walked outside after he told me common just one time only one time. I told the pool guys and management. Nothing was done any this guy. They seen him so why not address this. Then I switched hotels and as I'm standing outside this hotel talking to the taxi guy, talking about the price I'm putting my backpack in the car and as I'm want to put my suitcase in, he speeds off with all my money, passport everything gone!!! Please stay away from this hotel.

For two people there were only 3 hangers, we asked reception multiple times for more with no luck. There are no irons or kettles in the rooms. The breakfast is very poor in taste and options, there is no flat bread to toast, food is not labelled, orange and peach taste like water, and you have to pay for orange juice. Only good thing is the location, 5-10mins walk to the bazaar, close to the tram line. Confusion on checkout time, Expedia says 11.30am, reception says 12pm.. if booking transport, probably best to book via hotel, should be 1500-1800TL each way. Don’t use Travelium via Expedia as they are not allowed to approach the hotel and will ask you to walk 10mins. Having visited this hotel 10 years ago, the quality has drastically fallen, the food was better before and they even gave two water bottle each day, not you only get one on arrival. It’s unfortunately gone from a 4 star to a 2 star. The rooftop restaurant is shockingly expensive, for two people small lunch cost £75, and they refused the 10% discount for hotel staff, which the hotel advertised everywhere. It’s sad to see this hotel fall apart, but they have the potential to fix the key issues and work back to a 4 star again. All the best to them.

Hotel con excelente situación cerca del gran Bazar y de las Mezquitas. Zona muy comercial y bien comunicada. El hotel muy por debajo de un 4 estrellas. Baño muy pequeño con plato de ducha sucio y estado de manutención escaso. Todos los días debían reparar o arreglarnos algo (ducha,nevera,aire acondicionado,wi-fi)… si bien los empleados mostraban voluntad y rapidez en la solución. Las peores vistas que me han dado en un hotel (y no viajo poco).Horrible. El desayuno brilla por su ausencia,estando incluido no lo hemos utilizado (excepto la mala experiencia del primer día),con eso se dice todo. Desayuno escaso,poca variedad,opciones básicas inexistenes (no había tostadas o pan para desayunar !!!). La terraza en el ático con buenas vistas. La habitación en general limpia y correcta de tamaño. Gimnasio lamentable,pequeño,viejo y sin espacio mínimo para ejercitarse. Máquinas muy machacadas y bastante viejas. Zona de aguas poco recomendable,los niños saliendo y subiendose en la maquina de correr….. Desde mi punto de vista POCO recomendable

Ligging is perfect , als je enkel gaat voor er te slapen ook goed. Verouderde kamers, wel netjes .

The Location is very Suitable, the breakfast is very good, but the ac is terrible and no ceiling lighting in the room.

The hotel rooms are very old specifically the washrooms. The hotel management scheduled maintenance work at night and the noise from maintenance drilling and cutting kept me and my sick kids awake all night prior to our flight. When i called the receptionist he refused that there work happening and when i kept calling he finally accepted that construction was going on. Terrible experience. Also the location is tough for the taxis to get in.

Whilst the property was fine, they arranged on ground transport with a mob of shysters. We arrived at arranged meeting place, all staff were playing with their phones and none seemed to be our booked transport. None of them had our names registered in their system. 1 said they could take us, but to wait, never saw them again, then a second did the same and after 20 minutes we took a taxi (at half the cost of the booked transfer). On arrival at the hotel, transfer had called the hotel to say WE were a no show. Hotel staff then blackmailed us into paying the Euro 60 by refusing to hand our passports back until we did. After some discussion and return of passports, hotel staff paid half and only half back. Every where we went in that area, someone was after a piece of the action, wanting to sell us something we didnt want at exorbitant prices. Counterfeit luxury goods (watches, bags etc) abound. I would not go there again.

Aufenthalt leider riesen Enttäuschung gewesen, unfreundliches Personal beim Frühstück und im Spa. Das Personal im Spa-Bereich war regelrecht unverschämt und hat einen das Gefühl gegeben, dass man dem Personal böses getan hat.

Some of the reception staff could be more hospitable while other staff were helpful. Cleaning lady on floor 6 was probably the best ive experienced, amazing attention to detail. Lovely, cozy swimming pool area with very helpful staff. Great location, easy to get around, great stay.

Personel ilgili ve güler yüzlüydü oda temizdi teras manzara ve ambiyans güzeldi ama manzara için restoran fiyatları bir tık yüksek. ben en çok ulaşımda zorlandım. saat 21:00’a kadar yolların çoğu kapalı araçla gitmek çok zor, 21:00 sonrası bütün sokaklar açılıyor ve direkt otelin kapısına kadar gidebiliyorsunuz. otopark yok, size park için yardımcı olmaya çalışıyor personel ama zor. araçla gidilmemesini tavsiye ederim.

Great service, room was very clean and tidy. Located right next to the bazaar. Easy transportation from airport.

2 minutes walk to tram. 10 minute walk to grand bazaar. 20 minute walk to sultanahmet.

Ottima posizione, ben servito dai mezzi. Struttura buona senza grandi pretese. Assolutamente consigliato.

Where to start, bed too hard, quilt too heavy, pillows clumpy. The shower oh the shower, black mould everywhere, broken and missing tiles, leaking hose. The toilet bowl directly in front of the basin making the sink unusable. The shower door opened outwards which left no room to enter. What a game, I had to stand on the toilet out of the way, naked, open the shower door and enter that way. The breakfast very limited. Luckily that was it, the sevice was great and the evening restaurant was to die for. Everything we ordered was cooked and presented to perfection. Very tasty and moreish. We avoided it thinking the food elsewhere would be better yet all along the best was right upstairs.

Hotel lage är perfekt. Renheten är dåligt, Golvet var smutsig hela tiden. Det fanns ingen vatten kokare te, kaffe samt vatten i rummet. Vi checkade in på kvällen och var chokade över att vi behövde gå ner och köpa vatten som brukar ingå i vanliga fall i de flesta hotell i Istanbul. Samma frukost varje dag! Ingen variation alls! Och personalen är inte trevliga.

Hotel con excelente situación cerca del gran Bazar y de las Mezquitas. Zona muy comercial y bien comunicada. El hotel muy por debajo de un 4 estrellas. Baño muy pequeño con plato de ducha sucio y estado de manutención escaso. Todos los días debían reparar o arreglarnos algo (ducha,nevera,aire acondicionado,wi-fi)… si bien los empleados mostraban voluntad y rapidez en la solución. Las peores vistas que me han dado en un hotel (y no viajo poco).Horrible. El desayuno brilla por su ausencia,estando incluido no lo hemos utilizado (excepto la mala experiencia del primer día),con eso se dice todo. Desayuno escaso,poca variedad,opciones básicas inexistenes (no había tostadas o pan para desayunar !!!). La terraza en el ático con buenas vistas. La habitación en general limpia y correcta de tamaño. Gimnasio lamentable,pequeño,viejo y sin espacio mínimo para ejercitarse. Máquinas muy machacadas y bastante viejas. Zona de aguas poco recomendable,los niños saliendo y subiendose en la maquina de correr….. Desde mi punto de vista POCO recomendable

Breakfast very poor ( very limited choices) and stuff not welcoming on the restaurant / hygiene level is not good enough/ room not clean enough for me/ not recommended 😔

Location. Breakfast needs some improvement but overall the hotel is good.

Rummet var smutsigt, med mögel i duschen (under tvålhållaren, vid handfat och toalett), mycket damm under sängen och bakom möbler. Det fanns bara en liten redan använd toarulle. Frukosten var mycket dålig – när vi kom kl. 09:40 fanns nästan ingenting kvar (ingen bröd, skinka m.m.), personalen stod vid sina telefoner, och kl. 10:00 stängdes kaffemaskinen. När jag bad om kaffe fick jag svaret: “bara vatten finns”. Frukosten stängde dessutom redan kl. 10:00, vilket är väldigt tidigt för gäster på semester. Städerskan började varje morgon redan kl. 08:30 att knacka på dörren för att städa, flera gånger under förmiddagen, vilket störde vår vila. Hissen fungerade dåligt – den hade inget minne, och vi som bodde på plan 1 hamnade ofta på andra våningar eller högst upp eftersom den stannade för andra gäster. I spa-området fick vi använda handdukar från rummet och personalen krävde duschmössa, trots att detta inte stod någonstans eller fanns skyltat.

J'ai passé un excellent séjour dans cet hôtel. J'étais en famille avec un bébé d'1 an et très bien accueilli. Le personnel a toujours été au petit soin avec mon bébé. Toujours souriant et prêts à aider. Bien placé, nous n'avons pas eu besoin de prendre le tram ou le métro pour nos déplacements. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel. Le petit déjeuner était très bien.
