Loved the pool/ bar area. Great views. Walk to beach only a few minutes. Ala Moana shopping centre 10 minute walk. Location was great, not in the busy Waikiki area, we were happy with this as we wanted a relaxing holiday. Only negative were the lifts, the noise that vibrated through the rooms. Lots of guests said the same thing when we talked to them. Noisiest lifts I have ever encountered in a hotel. Not good at night when you are wanting to sleep

Like: Quiet, straight to the point, pool and bar open until 9pm, gym 24 hours, AC working fine Dislike: Parking structure is narrow, gotta park before sun down too to secure a spot since it’s a smaller garage

Would definitely recommend this hotel. It was really clean and comfortable, in a great location. We had a nice large balcony and a view of the harbour. The staff were very friendly and great in an emergency (we were there during the recent tsunami warning). As an added bonus, the main lobby smelt absolutely amazing! One thing I would change would be the adults only "pool" - it's just some sun loungers sitting in shallow water which I thought was a bit strange.

I spent a week at the modern and enjoyed it. It’s in a great location and easily can walk down to Waikīkī or Ala Moana. Plenty of dining and shopping around the area. The hotel itself wasn’t bad, the only thing I felt was outdated was the room and more specifically just the bathroom sink and the bed. The balcony was perfect. The elevators are fast. Cleaning services were not readily available. I only saw cleaning carts twice on my floor during a week stay. No one is coming to clean the rooms or give extra towels unless it’s requested. The phone in the rooms don’t work. If you need something, you have to go to the front desk which was inconvenient. We were charged a resort fee for $240ish. The hotel has a gym, pool, tanning pool, and a full service bar with food and drinks. I noticed there was a sign for a spa but don’t think it was available. There’s also a breakfast restaurant that we didn’t end up going to. I enjoyed all the resorts amenities. Parking costed $230 for 7 nights and we only parked in the overflow lot. It’s basically their second parking garage that is next to their main parking garage. The first night we arrived at 10pm and couldn’t find parking in either garages and wasn’t told what to do if there wasn’t a spot available. We squeezed into a spot in the corner for the night. Otherwise as long as we were back before 9 there were always spots available especially during the week. Overall, I enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to other people!

Lovely staff and hotel rooms. Pool is very small and was always full. Day beds in shade were for rental only - and you need the shade. Room was city and partial sea and mountains. Great views however very noisy with traffic/cars all day into the evening. construction work on an adjacent building was noisy. Traffic noise was the worst part of stay. Overall convenient location to beach.

It was a good location. Had a small store, "ABC Superette" (sundries), McDonald's and Subway across the street and also a locally owned pizza restaurant and Red Lobster next door. There was ample parking and reasonably priced. The staff was 5 star plus!

Check in was smooth even though I arrived at 11am and check in is 3pm. The pool area is large, food and drinks are great and service is excellent. Zack at the concierge desk was amazing and helped me with all my questions. The only recommendation is to reopen the bar at the adult pool.

I really like staying at this Hilton - it was my third time. I like the location next to Waikiki proper as it's quieter and easy to park at the end of the day. Unfortunately this stay was not great... My room had numerous, large carpet and furniture stains. The biggest issue were the elevators. Everyone in the hotel would wait no less than 10 minutes even at odd hours. Once I waited almost 20 minutes to ride up to my room. It was a huge issue.

The room was not fully cleaned, looks like mildew was forming in the shower. The carpets were stained and the bottom of your socks will get very dirty. The keys never worked once for parking. We got the reset and they still did not work. They stopped working for the room randomly and then they would work again. The staff was very friendly though and very helpful. This being a hilton I was expecting more. The adult pool was a major let down it was so shallow and the bar was closed the whole time. The only bar open was downstairs. Pool staff was friendly. Food was okay, not with the price. Would not stay again. Mahalo!

THE GOOD: Gorgeous hotel, welcoming staff, free purified water machine in lobby & at pool. Gorgeous pool, free cultural activities offered. Good food! Proximity to the lagoon and beach was just steps away. A 2 mi walk to the middle of Waikiki, and a 1 mi walk the other way to the Ala Moana mall. Perfect for walking. The trolley is everywhere. $6 for an all-day pass. Can't beat it for good transport! THE BAD: Upon check in, my bathrooms were NOT clean. Toilets, tubs & sinks had hair in / on them. Disgusting! Tables in the living room had coffee and food stains on them. I had to clean my own room! Bed was like sleeping on concrete. Pretty design, but cheap IKEA comfort. Couch was the same. Very disappointed with the comfort aspect of my room. My hips hurt so bad from five nights on that bed, I couldn't wait to get home! THE ELEVATOR: We replaced a beautiful king suite, with two bathrooms. Unfortunately, this types of rooms are placed directly near the elevators. A forewarning, if you purchase those rooms, they're very expensive, but you're also going to have the elevator directly next to your bedroom wall and you will hear the elevator all day long and it's extremely annoying and there's no way around it. I asked to move, but there was no option. So I had to pretend like it was a sound wave machine putting me to sleep. NEXT TRIP TO HONOLULU: I won't be staying at this hotel. Not because they weren't nice and welcoming, but because the furniture was very uncomfortable.

Very clean hotel. The pool was clean and good size. Close enough to walk to places for food and shopping. Small beach area nearby as well. Hotel concierge was very helpful with local activities. Our view was beautiful. Loved having a balcony with chairs.

Time share room 1223 was not in good condition. Bathroom had numerous issues (e.g., hard to turn faucet fixtures), and the elevator noise was horrible. Hotel room carpet was very dirty; my feet picked up a lot of dirt walking barefoot on it. The Modern needs an upgrade to be worthy of being a Hilton property.

Location:25-30 min from the airport some restaurants in the walkable distance 1 hotel over is Hilton Hawaiian village with stores and restaurants try Blue Water restaurant food is awesome 10min walk to Ala Moana Shopping Plaza biggest outdoor mall 20-25 min walk to Waikiki Beachwalk with Al huddle and bustle there 10-15 min drive to diamond head beach is 5-10 min walk and a little rocky Property: very clean lobby / work area nice pool is ok bar next to pool is good food but it is pricy adult pool is just splash space bar upstairs is never opened breakfast that is included if prepaid is only 2 eggs has brown or toast and choice of dosage or bacon not worth it since u will be tired after 2 days of eating that , bathrooms are spacious good countertop size and great water pressure but it has blinded instead of wall so no privacy room is also size wise good but carpet old used up stained furniture is old mattress is the most uncomfortable thing we ever slept on some city view rooms have no balcony which I would recommend to have if you are going to beach often it has microwave mini fridge coffee maker it is clean staff in this hotel is great Would I stay here again probably not I would pay little more and book one of nicer hotels in the area or would go toward Waikīkī if you preferred more quilters then go toward North shore Staff stated they are under renovation and that 1-2 years all rooms should b renovated Would I recommend if you love to walk and find good price yes

Overall stay was decent. Bed was a bit too firm for my personal liking and the top sheets and couple of the pillows were slightly dirty so I’m not sure if they were changed before I arrived. I stayed in the King premier with a partial ocean view which included the marina view and it was excellent! Easily the best part of the stay! I also loved the wooden shutters and the large mirror! Fitness room got the job done, the restaurant is decent- drinks were really good and the spicy poke was delicious! The adult only sunset pool is really nice especially as the sun sets. Beach is within walking distance- about 10-15 min and the Ala Moana center is about 30 min walking distance so it’s in a good location too! Nice amenities included with the stay so it was an overall decent stay.

Staff: Excellent, super friendly and helpful. Rooms: Clean, modern. Not enough chairs to sit at the table. Bathroom has a sliding door. Shower was fantastic! Strong water pressure. There is nowhere to sit other than the bed, which is uncomfortable Its carpet at a beach hotel so its damp The walkway to the beach is long and the beach closest is VERY rocky so not really swim able It is at a busy intersection so it’s loud all night. What I did like: Clean sheets, lots of clean towels daily, room service daily. The pool deck is great with plenty on chairs and towels. Nice hotel in an ideal location. Staff is friendly and efficient. Check in and out process is very easy. Loved the poolside area and entertainment. Everything was clean and orderly. The rooms themselves could use a little updating. TVs were a bit dated (cable instead of streaming/casting options). Other than that, great place to stay and I'd stay here again.

Lovely staff and hotel rooms. Pool is very small and was always full. Day beds in shade were for rental only - and you need the shade. Room was city and partial sea and mountains. Great views however very noisy with traffic/cars all day into the evening. construction work on an adjacent building was noisy. Traffic noise was the worst part of stay. Overall convenient location to beach.

Our first night was a bit rough. My wife and I could not sleep because our room was 2 doors down from the elevator shaft. However, front desk moved us and the manager was nice to give us a comp for our inconvenience. We enjoyed the food at the bar near the pool. Tavia, as a server was absolutely fantastic! She was cheerful upbeat.. while my wife enjoyed the sunset. The Modern also offer free activities. Yes, I would recommend this stay because it is close to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Enjoy the Friday fireworks!!

Great place to stay in the middle of things that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Be warned - the bathrooms are see through into the main room. Never seen a bathroom set up like it before but has two sets of skinny, horizontal wooden blinds. Can’t use the toilet without it being audible in the main room.

I had made two room reservations for July 6-12 since March 2024. However, the hotel staff had trouble finding our reservations when we arrived. After asking me to send the confirmation email I received in March, it took them 20 minutes or more to locate the reservation without apologies. Additionally, the concierge, Mike, was very pushy and tried to sell us unsolicited services.

This was an amazing pick. I wanted to be away from the chaos of the village but close enough to walk to my conference every day. It was perfect and the staff were some of the most helpful that I have ever experienced.

I just returned home from a 5-night stay at the Hilton Vacation Club, The Modern Honolulu and it was amazing! The property is clean, modern, and quiet, and the staff are very helpful. I loved that there are free daily activities, like lei making and hula classes! The hotel is about a 25-minute walk from Waikiki Beach, and a 10-minute walk from the Ala Moana Center, so it's in a good location overall. I would definitely stay here again!

I have stayed at many Hiltons this was my least enjoyable. Pretty disappointed considering it was my birthday. Staff was hit or miss. Some nice, helpful some ignored me completely standing in front of them. The cleaning person oddly tried to enter my room when I asked for extra pillows. I had already said I didn’t want cleaning that day. There was a lot of noise I think from the sliding doors in the rooms. The food had a microwave taste so I only ate there one time. The shower water pressure kept going really low. The toilet kept making weird sounds. I was told the hotel was recently purchased and so there was lots of renovation and upgrades happening. They do not have room service. I was mostly out and about… no time or energy to complain. It was my birthday so tried to just be cool. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Check in was smooth even though I arrived at 11am and check in is 3pm. The pool area is large, food and drinks are great and service is excellent. Zack at the concierge desk was amazing and helped me with all my questions. The only recommendation is to reopen the bar at the adult pool.

The location was great. Its a walking distance to the Ala Moana Mall and other shopping stores. It's also a walking distance to the beach and the lagoon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The parking was great because its just below the property and very accessible. The room is spacious and we barely even used the sofa. Also, there's microwave and fridge available in the room. There's also a great bar and dining located next to the pool. I would recommend staying here and would most likely stay here again in the future.

The Modern is a comfortable place to land at the end of the day. The Oceanview suite was perfect as it allowed a beautiful view of the sailboats docked outside the window and a view of the lagoon and beach. The short fireworks display on Friday nights were a treat we could take in from the balcony without fighting the crowds on the beachfront. The room was bright and inviting. The king size bed was firm and heavenly. The location on the north end of Waikiki was convenient, but mostly out of all the heaviest traffic. Walking access to neighboring hotels and amenities made the stay simply ideal.

Great location at the edge of the Waikiki hotel strip. There was an ABC market conveniently located right at the corner. This hotel was connected to neighboring hotels which made it easy to walk around, something akin to Vegas. From the pool, the Hilton Lagoon and actual beach are only a 5min walk. Also, the large outdoor mall was only a 15 min walk right over the bridge. Staff was excellent in customer service and providing amenities (water bottles, towels, etc). Lastly, because the hotel is located at the edge of the resort strip there was low traffic on the street where the main entrance is located which made entering and leaving in Uber and with our car Rental super easy.

Overall stay was decent. Bed was a bit too firm for my personal liking and the top sheets and couple of the pillows were slightly dirty so I’m not sure if they were changed before I arrived. I stayed in the King premier with a partial ocean view which included the marina view and it was excellent! Easily the best part of the stay! I also loved the wooden shutters and the large mirror! Fitness room got the job done, the restaurant is decent- drinks were really good and the spicy poke was delicious! The adult only sunset pool is really nice especially as the sun sets. Beach is within walking distance- about 10-15 min and the Ala Moana center is about 30 min walking distance so it’s in a good location too! Nice amenities included with the stay so it was an overall decent stay.

Nice facilities. Rooms are dated no real storage in the rooms. Could use a dresser in the room. The Hilton Grand Vacation complex is really nice. The shopping and dining options was very convenient. The restaurant at The Modern, “The Grove”, was open in the morning and only at the bar at night. You ate at tables poolside. Food options at the Grove was nothing to write home about. For an excellent cup of coffee, go to the Aroma Cafe, in the hotel next door. You will not be disappointed. Would recommend not renting a car if you can avoid it. Public transportation and Uber are readily available.

My wife and I went to The Modern for our anniversary. It's beautiful, clean and serene. We will definitely come back. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. The restaurant on-site is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when you don't feel like going out.

For a older hotel going thru a makeover, nice....but more is needed. Weird having giant louvered vents between the bathroom and the bed. Noisy at times if you catch my drift. Lots of fine details to attend to to make this top notch. High pressure from the CONCIERGE to attend a Hilton Vacation Club presentation for a gift. Did not care for this.

Hotel was nice, great location. Room was okay, definitely needs some updating. Carpets need a good cleaning and one of our lampshades was broken and stained. Outlets need updating, as our plugs wouldn’t stay in some of them. Staff was great and very helpful! Great happy hour daily by the pool.

I showed up via Uber from the airport to be told that they’ve been out of power for a week due to the storm. All the hotels right by it seemed to not have that same problem as I phoned them to try to find an alternate room. They knew for a whole week that they were not gonna be able to house guest due to the power outage yet failed to have any kind of courtesy to let the guest know, they provided me a piece of paper with a room downgrade to a hotel far away from the harbor. This is a Hilton property and they failed to follow Hilton protocols for walking guests. I might add that I am a diamond member of Hilton. The front desk workers did greet me with a smile in the front desk. Manager was also sympathetic, but unable to provide the solution that I want, which would’ve been a paid room next-door at the Prince Waikiki. They are not supposed to be downgrading guests and actually violated Hawaii law by not only covering up the outage, which would’ve allowed guest to make alternate plans before a same day increased rate at hotels I asked for the general manager to do right by me and got no response. I gave him every chance to do right and now I will be forwarding a complaint to the Hilton executive team as well as contacting Hawaiian consumer affairs for deceptive business practices. These are the facts make your own choice. If you wanna spend your vacation at a place that doesn’t care about their guests.

L'hotel in realtà è molto molto bello in perfetto stile hawaiano purtroppo siamo arrivati e non ci hanno informato che mancava la corrente in seguito alla tempesta che era appena passata sulle Hawaii. Abbiamo pagato siamo andati nella stanza ma chiaramente era impossibile restarci senza acqua calda né corrente ci hanno spostato su un altro hotel di livello nettamente inferiore, dove siamo rimasti per tutto il soggiorno ; il personale si è messo a disposizione nel modo che poteva, ma chiaramente la situazione era ingestibile. Va detto che alla fine è rimasto l'unico hotel in tutta la zona a rimanere senza corrente, ciò fa capire che il problema non è legato solo alla Tempesta, ma è anche un loro problema che durerà a quanto pare oltre un mese.
