So close to public beach access! The hotel had many included amenities like grab and go breakfast. They had beach/pool towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and hair dryers to borrow at no charge. The staff was friendly and helpful. Fire pits were lit in the early evening to enjoy. Can’t wait to return!

This is our second summer staying at the Ocean Palms and we love it! Proximity to the beach can’t be beat. We love the hot tub and pool too. We also appreciate the ability to borrow towels and boogie boards because it makes our beach trips so much easier!

Great place to stay! Location was fantastic. Rooms were clean, big and very comfortable. Only knock is the lack of parking. 8 spaces is nowhere near enough. I got lucky and found street parking in front of the hotel.

This place is managed so amazingly. Grounds are super clean. Pool is clean. The outdoor shower to rinse of your sand from feet and body was great.

We stayed a second time at this resort (10 nights first time and now 11 nights). Very easy to get from the airport without a car (free airport shuttle to Old Town and Coaster train to Carlsbad). In Carlsbad it was around a 5 min walk from the station to the hotel. If you have no car you can walk about 15 minutes to the grocery store if you would like to cook. There’s plenty of dining options around!!! Everything is very near the hotel. The hotel’s territory is beautiful and clean, very green with palm trees and flowers. There’s a little pool, hot tub, fitness center, and fire pits outside where you can relax after sunset. Rooms are very beautiful and comfortable ( TV set in every room). We rented 2 bdr units with a kitchen both times. I saw there is a kitchenette in every 1 bdr unit as well but you may need to double check this before booking. We had a full set of kitchen utensils plus pots, pans, can-opener, etc, along with a full stove and oven, and a full size fridge. Every morning you can get breakfast at the front office. There’s juice, yogurt, doughnuts and fresh fruits, snacks. Front desk people are very friendly and helpful. They are available from 7:00-23:00. You may contact someone after 23:00 by your unit’s landline phone. One downside was the internet lagging or cutting out frequently in about half of our unit this time. Otherwise, it is incredibly ( few steps) near the ocean and our favorite place to stay! Thank you!!!

Trust the reviews, this place is amazing! We stayed for one night, so we splurged. It was like its own magical oasis and it’s right by the beach. The staff were kind, the room was amazing, and it’s close to a ton of restaurants. Senor Grubby’s is a MUST! Parking is a hassle, but at night the town quiets down and it’s easy to find a spot. They provide beach towels and boogie boards and have outside showers to rinse off. All bonuses!

One of our new favorite places to stay. Very impressed with the room. It was clean and comfortable. Perfect size for our small family of 4. Entire property well maintained. Fire pits and BBQ were fun to enjoy at night. Super close walk to the beach made for the perfect beach vacation. Loved that they would check out all the beach essentials including towels, body boards, toys, and more. Parking was a bit of an issue, but not enough of a reason to not want to come back year after year.

Was nice and secluded for the most part and employees were vert accommodating on our needs. But was really stupid that you have to go to office to get towels for swimming pool and have to return to office when done and wouldn't let you just give to housekeeping.

Very nice property. Rooms are comfortable and kitchen is a great perk. Parking can be a problem. A lot of foot traffic but quotes down at night after about 9pm.

Ocean Palms has a very nice laid back inner sanctum that shelters it's very comfortable outdoor area from most of the bustle of the busy areas behind it. The top swing doors let in nice breezes and the jacuzzi bathtub was a warm respite after the cool night air. When it comes together, Ocean Palms is a great little beach-adjacent get away, literally seconds from the water. Additionally the gym, while cramped, is pretty well equipped for 1-2 people to get a full work out in. The card key system to access it is mildly annoying, only usable once per "charge" and expiring at midnight. Our stay wasnt without some issue. Our timing coincided with tree trimming, leading to chainsaws working during the midday hours, not very chill but thats just bad luck. The dryer didnt dry my clothes, disappointing as a chose a place specifically with laundry options. Worse is the the walls are razor thin, hope you have quiet neighbors.

Beautiful grounds and area. So close to beach you can hear the ocean from your room. A lot to do in the nearby area from shopping to restaurants. Staff was friendly. Could use more variety at breakfast. Room could have been cleaner and we didn't receive maid service two days during our trip.

This is absolutely our favorite place to stay. I’m from San Diego and we love to visit Carlsbad for the beach, food and shopping. The staff is amazing, the rooms are so clean and the murals in each room are different and colorful. The pool/spa area is so nice and so many places to just sit quietly and read. Definitely a 10 in our books for places to stay.

The property is very tropical and relaxing. Close to the beach and dining. The studio room was large, comfortable and fully equipped. Staff were very accommodating with additional kitchen, pool and beach supplies. Only one USB, not many outlets near bed and none near the table. Kitchen area had plenty of outlets. Bathroom was well lit and cleaning service was provided every day.

The hotel's location is great, and the place looks beautiful. But, be careful when picking your room, make sure it's not connected to another one by a door. Those doors seem pretty thin, and you can hear everything from your neighbors, like conversations, sneezes, coughs, snoring, and more.... Also, besides earplugs, if you want a completely dark room, you'll need a sleeping mask. The upper part of the front door has a privacy glass, and light comes through it all night.

Good area, close to the ocean, cozy accommodations but needs some improvements. WIFI keeps dropping off, TV controllers do not operate the TV in bedroom. All around stay was nice and we will consider coming back.

Nice rooms, great outdoor spaces for eating, playing games, sitting by fire. Our room (109) was dark (even with all of the lights on) but the rooms the rest of our family were in were nice and bright.

Had a wonderful stay here with an ocean view so close I could hear the waves crashing into the sand, and the beach is just a few steps away. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, easygoing too. The room was well furnished, in good condition overall. The sofa bed came in handy as a makeshift sleeping area for our 5 month old. They have a well stocked breakfast grab and go and Starbucks coffee station, excellent way to start the day! We enjoyed our stay and we will stay again to enjoy even more of the amenities. This is not to say that there aren’t a few small things to work on… 1. The water flow from the bathroom sink faucet was super low, yet the pressure in the shower was aggressively strong. Both could use some adjusting. 2. The freezer had a rusted metal shelf and didn’t seem clean to use. 3. Parking within the property is limited, it is possible to get a spot as other guests check out, but I parked a little far away until a closer spot opened up, which was not that bad as it is a safe area, just something to be ready for. — that’s all I could find as issues, and the positive points definitely outnumber it. Overall a great establishment and worth the price.

My family and I were there for 3 nights. The location is very convenient and walking distance of all the venues such as shopping, restaurants, beach, bike paths. We were on the first floor of the property therefore the guests staying upstairs were very noisy. That is the only downfall of our stay. Rooms are very comfortable but need to have a/c in each room as only living room have it.

This place is amazing. I would have given 5 stars but the beds were very uncomfortable. We switched rooms to an upgraded sweet because we decided to stay an extra day. The bed in the upgrade was even more uncomfortable I could feel the springs on my back it felt like a motel 6 bed. My back is still soar from those beds. Hopefully they upgrade the mattresses because we would love to go back and make it a yearly relaxation vacation.

Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and super cute. Coffee, yogurt and fruit in the morning was much appreciated. Our room was spacious and the beach is across the street. Very limited parking but we were able to find parking on the street.

Had a wonderful stay here with an ocean view so close I could hear the waves crashing into the sand, and the beach is just a few steps away. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, easygoing too. The room was well furnished, in good condition overall. The sofa bed came in handy as a makeshift sleeping area for our 5 month old. They have a well stocked breakfast grab and go and Starbucks coffee station, excellent way to start the day! We enjoyed our stay and we will stay again to enjoy even more of the amenities. my granddaughter arrived at 8:30 Friday night and parking is a bit of a challenge. The gentleman at the front desk took a look at the two of us and said “you can have my parking space” It was right in front of the building. I never moved my car the rest of the week and did not miss it at all. everything i needed was within walking distance. the staff is so helpful and politeTo say that my granddaughter and I had a fabulous time would be in an understatement. stay here you won’t regret it. Plus, you’ll probably book for next year too. They go fast.

Staff and facilities at the property were excellent. We didn't have a car so finding groceries wasn't easy . Perhaps the small on site shop could stock a wider range. Otherwise the only other thing to mention is the noisy trains!

This is one of my favorite hotels in Carlsbad and I stay out here a few times a year . I love the location and proximity to the beach. Lots of places to eat and you can walk everywhere. This hotel is comfortable and accomadating.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were there for the Carlsbad 5000, and it is located close to the start and the finish. Just parked and walked everywhere, The hot shower after the race was perfect. And it was right by the steps to the ocean. Bliss. Will stay here again next year.

So close to public beach access! The hotel had many included amenities like grab and go breakfast. They had beach/pool towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and hair dryers to borrow at no charge. The staff was friendly and helpful. Fire pits were lit in the early evening to enjoy. Can’t wait to return!

Wonderful place! Close to the beach and restaurants - can’t beat the location. Staff is friendly and helpful, room is great - even has a kitchen! Nice beachy style - so much nicer than the chain hotels we’ve stayed at. Grounds are beautiful. We really lucked into a lovely place - we didn’t know it would be so nice!

Hotel location is great, located across the street from the ocean. There are many dinning options within walking distance. You actually do not need to use your car much while staying at this hotel. The biggest downside is the free breakfast. The free breakfast offered is just the same daily option of bottle juice and packaged pastries.

We stayed a second time at this resort (10 nights first time and now 11 nights). Very easy to get from the airport without a car (free airport shuttle to Old Town and Coaster train to Carlsbad). In Carlsbad it was around a 5 min walk from the station to the hotel. If you have no car you can walk about 15 minutes to the grocery store if you would like to cook. There’s plenty of dining options around!!! Everything is very near the hotel. The hotel’s territory is beautiful and clean, very green with palm trees and flowers. There’s a little pool, hot tub, fitness center, and fire pits outside where you can relax after sunset. Rooms are very beautiful and comfortable ( TV set in every room). We rented 2 bdr units with a kitchen both times. I saw there is a kitchenette in every 1 bdr unit as well but you may need to double check this before booking. We had a full set of kitchen utensils plus pots, pans, can-opener, etc, along with a full stove and oven, and a full size fridge. Every morning you can get breakfast at the front office. There’s juice, yogurt, doughnuts and fresh fruits, snacks. Front desk people are very friendly and helpful. They are available from 7:00-23:00. You may contact someone after 23:00 by your unit’s landline phone. One downside was the internet lagging or cutting out frequently in about half of our unit this time. Otherwise, it is incredibly ( few steps) near the ocean and our favorite place to stay! Thank you!!!

Love everything about it! Colorful comfortable studio room with a full kitchen only thing missing was either a microwave or a toaster oven to heat things without using the large oven for items that don't fit in a toaster. Ask front desk for a hair dryer. Also the advertised breakfast was lacking..but only reasons for a 9.

Rooms are pretty small and simple, no closet in mine, but they make up for it with ambiance and great grounds. Free towels and beach chairs to head down to the beach which was nice.
