The staff were super helpful and the room was warm and clean. They made our dog very welcome he was even given a sausage for breakfast.

Very nice place to stay. Rooms are spacious and weel equipped. Comfy beds and were lucky to have a small balcony in kur room, out to the garden area. Great restaurant, book as very busy. Breakfast included in the stay and had a good choice of hot food. EV charging avaiable in the car park.

Fantastic venue and staff. Very comfortable and convenient with access to onsite overnight charging for the car.

Wonderfull pub in the centre of Crickhowell. Excellent all round. Car park entrance could be a challenge for some!

Good stay, staff helpful. Wasn’t sure where to check in. Asked at the bar. Room clean smaller than I thought. Nice breakfast. Difficult and narrow access to parking at the rear of the Inn.. Good for small cars but midsize cars side clearance is a few inches either side of the wall with side mirrors turned inwards. Street parking limited.

really lovely place to stay. Warm welcome, huge bedroom with wonderful large bed, bathroom had bath and over shower which was great. Spotlessly clean. Good bar/eating area. Very impressed with the beer garden and lovely terraced area to sit out. Staff were excellent - very polite and attentive

The Dragon Inn had a comfortable room in a fantastic location in Crug-Hywel on the edge of the Brecon Beacons national park. The staff are tremendous & are very attentive to their customers. The restaurant food was outstanding. It is a popular venue so I advise booking a table in advance. Plenty of choice for breakfast too. To access the car park at the rear of the property will be a issue for drivers of large vehicles! It had electric vehicle charging points and plenty of spaces.

On arrival their seemed to be some confusion over breakfast,although we had paid for B&B, apparently that only included cold and whilst we could pay extra for hot food that would mean bringing in a chef just for us as we were the only guests.......this didn't feel very welcoming. We were shown to our room which was freezing cold and when we asked when the heating would come on we were told she couldn't say as she wasn't part of the housekeeping team ! At dinner we had to argue the toss over our pre booked Xmas dinner which when it came was very average indeed. Lovely hotel in the heart of Crickhowell with its lovely scenery and plenty of pubs and eateries. Rooms were of a reasonable size and very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely rainfall shower and a lovely comfortable bed. The staff were very polite and helpful. Very reasonably priced.

A clean, quiet room in a lovely town above a pub with good food and drink.

Food was great too and room was clean, modern and comfortable with everything required for a good stay.

Cannot fault the cleanliness or quality of the room - we booked a two bedroom suite for myself, husband and adult daughter, it was spacious, comfortable and well equipped.

The hotel and staff are fantastic, it’s in a great position a few steps from the pretty town centre. Our room was very cosy and spotless. We ate at the hotel both nights, the restaurant is run by young girls are so professional and do a fantastic job. The first night we had fish and chips which was superb, but the second night which was my birthday I don’t know what happened. I ordered the welsh sirloin steak, I can honestly it was the most tasteless steak I have ever eaten, I don’t know how it was cooked, but it looked like it had been microwaved, it had no grill marks and none of the fat had caramelised. It was awful, i did tel the girls awards but I really should have sent it back. it put a downer on my night. That’s my only complaint and if you ask would we go back. Absolutely it’s a fabulous hotel.

Crickhowell is stunningly beautiful. We stayed here due to its proximity to Hay-on-Wye, but will be back purely for Crickhowell. The Dragon was wonderful, especially the comfy beds and breakfast. Only reason for 4* not 5, is due to the thin walls and an inconsiderate guest who was f-ing and blinding loudly at 11pm on Saturday. Obvi

The room was far too small and should not have been advertised as a double room. Impossible to use the taos in the sink as they were fitted too far back. The shower was just a trickle of water. Advertised as breakfast included but was only continental breakfast so thus was very misleading .

The problem I had was noise. Slamming doors, stomping feet overhead and loud rooms made it hard to sleep. Staff were great but lack of sleep not so great.

Good, comfortable and clean. The shower in room 2 is feeble and loose and the TV wouldn’t turn on. I’d still recommend it though.

We LOVED our stay! Had a family suite which exceeded our expectations. Lovely restaurant/pub on site. Beautiful courtyard and upper lawn with gazebo and walking path. Crickhowell Castle is directly adjacent to the property, as is a small playground. Breakfast (included) was delicious and ample. Felt like part of the family there--would DEFINITELY recommend. Wonderful place and people!

Positives, clean room, great food in the restaurant/bar, friendly staff. Semi negative, room only as wide as the bed plus bedside drawer, so quite small. Room was right outside the lit pub sign, which stays on all night, so very light bedroom even with blinds down. Car park entrance is literally as wide as the car, so be super careful, you can see marks all over the wall where people have hit it.

This was a very characterful pub to stay in. While tge bed was very comfortable, we were having to dodge diagonal beams to get to the bathroom. The bathroom was recently remodelled, but had no wall fixtures for the shower over the bath.

Breakfast included when rooms were booked and had confirmation on iPad. Presented with a bill for £66.00 and told policy had changed. In my opinion if it was available when booked then it should have been honoured.

We went for a Valentines weekend. On arrival the staff were professional and friendly. For some reason we were not given the room I thought I had booked via Expedia, but the character of the room was immense although it was in the rafters. Unfortunately my husband is almost 6'4" tall and struggled in the room due to the low ceiling and sloping beam. The owner upgraded us, at no extra charge, to an absolutely beautiful room. I can say that we will definitely go back! The food was excellent, the area brought back childhood memories for my husband. I had never been to Crickhowell (Crug Hywel), and my husband had not been for some 60 years. It was an amazing weekend for us. Highly recommended.

My room was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar was good, and my breakfast was just the job.

All very good & because I have very early start they baked me some croissants to take with me

A great base for walkers, runners, cyclists and foodies. Friendly staff and a comfortable stay. The pub has great character Breakfast and dinner service is slow, no issue if you are happy to take your time. As B&Bs go, a lovely stay and great value. Would return for sure.

Best part of my stay was the staff- they were very friendly and always happy to help. I felt very welcome during my entire stay. The breakfast was really good, the room was comfortable and clean with all the necessities. Would love to come back!

I stay away two or three nights every week and this is one of the nicest places I have stayed this year. It is rare these days that people offer to help you with your bags but Toby didn’t even ask, he just picked my bag up and said. ‘I’ll take you to your room ‘ lovely HOTEL and great stuff. I got there late so didn’t sample the food but it looked excellent and I will try and get there early next time.

Hate putting on a bad review. But from the outside the place is beautiful. Inside the pub looks very nice to. Arrived to what seamed to be a staff meeting in the hotel bar. The owner was quite rude and uninterested in our arrival. A lovely you man came to help and showed us to our room. The room was very small a attic room. Could do wth a bit of tlc. We booked for a evening meal which was nice. Once again the owner needs to change her job! Breakfast was dreadful greasy mushrooms had fried egg we asked for poached. Once again the owner well she was so miserable and rude.

Located in a lovely little town with local shops. People very friendly. Our second visit wojld highly recommend. Food is very good and a wide choice.

My experience was satisfactory, but with pros and cons. The pros.Location was great near the center of town, walking was easy to several restaurants, pubs, shops nearby. Ancient castle ruins located right behind the large beer garden of the Inn. We stayed 4 days and had most meals in the Dragon Inn restaurant, food was excellent, portions were large. The majority of staff were very friendly and helpful but a few times it was clear that the staff was not enthused about their job. Some of the restaurant seating was near the bar which can be really busy and annoying when trying to enjoy your meal as people trying to get drinks are standing in the seating area. Best to book ahead and ask to sit away from the bar for the best experience. Now the cons; best to avoid room 8 Although it was a good size, clean with comfortable bed and large bath, the room was always uncomfortably warm for some reason despite the windows being open all day/night and fan on full time. We stayed in June but the daytime outdoor temperature was 19-20 and cooler at night.The heat was not on so we couldn’t figure out why the room was so warm. I inquired about this and was told All the rooms are like that. Room 8 is located above the kitchen near the service staff metal stair and kitchen vent exhaust near our open windows so had the smells of all food being prepared. It is also above the patio; late night revelers were loud due to open windows. Entrance to car park is very narrow, be sure to fold mirrors.

Centre of town and a good place to use as a base for all kinds of country persuits

This is a pub with rooms. So not surprisingly it was a bit noisy and we had to have the window open as too hot in room so that didn’t help with the noise level. Nothing anyone can do about this though! We had dinner there and the food was very good. Breakfast the next morning was a bit of a let down. I had pancakes with yogurt and fruit, unfortunately they were served cold so not very nice! The coffee was also tepid and there was only one croissant out. A bit of a let down.

Entrance to parking was very narrow and had to be careful not to scrape the wall. Room was fine, but small for the money paid. Breakfast did not start serving until 8am, so as I had leave for work at 07.30, so this was no good for me. Food was average and overpriced. I consider £8 for five rings of squid a rip off. The fish and chips was nothing special, with a small piece of skin on and slightly slimy cod and the smallest pot of mushy peas you’ve ever seen.

Popular pub with rooms in the centre of the attractive snall town. Free parking out back - take care with narrow entrance. Very nice garden area. Room was compact but confortable. Complimentary tea tray and decent toiletries. Good breakfast menu. Friendly service. We also ate dinner here and food was good and well priced.. Booking ahead is recommended as was pretty busy.

Clean and comfortable in a charming Welsh town. Easy to walk to stores and dining. Had breakfast (included in the price) as well as dinner at the Inn. Breakfast was average. Unfortunately dinner was disappointing-3 of us had fish and chips. The fish had the skin on-first time this has happened in 3 trips to the UK and multiple fish and chips. And the fish was mushy and the breading/coating was soggy.

A lovely pub stay in a beautiful village. The staff work very hard to ensure their guests enjoy their stay and I certainly did! As a solo traveller, I felt safe and not out of place at all. Dinner and breakfast both delicious. Room perfect with thoughtful little touches. The entrance was narrow as others have mentioned but not too awful. Highly recommend!
