Comfort Suites New Bern near Cherry Point

The elevator was out of service and construction going on around the facility.

After checking in I was informed that the elevator did not work. My wife & I both have mobility issues so climbing the stairs to the 2nd floor was quite a battle. The pool was out of order & the guest laundry was also out of order. I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again. I mean NEVER!!!

Internet did not work. No one at front desk for over 40 minutes. There was a sign out that said they’ll be back in 10 minutes at the most. Had to change room due to internet not working and it still didn’t work after moving rooms.

I’d like the condition of the room, it was clean and very well taken care of. The hotel in my opinion is an old rundown mess. There was leaky ceiling spots above the pool with plaster coming off the ceiling and the pool heater was broken. The water was ice cold. I was there for the bike ride in new Bern and I’m glad for the convenient location, but I just think the condition of the hotel There was also a blue flashing light outside my window, when I brought it up to the desk personnel, she said she knew about it, but didn’t know what was wrong with it. So no one was doing anything to fix it.

Very clean hotel for the most part. Friendly staff. Easy check-in. Good breakfast. Decent location (just a lot of highway construction outside, but doesn't effect the noise level in the hotel). The only complaints I would have are that the exercise room wasn't stocked with supplies and seemed very dirty and sticky. The pool heater seems it hasn't been in service for quite a long time which resulted in the pool area also not being stocked and not clean and inviting. Other than that, we had a good stay. Great proximity to New Bern downtown. Definitely a great value for the price!

Honestly I was a little disappointed with this comfort inn. Our room was not cleaned very well at all, we found several stains and stuff that were not cleaned in the bathroom. We also found several things falling apart in our room. I also found a second floor rug threshold that was coming up off the carpet making it a tripping hazard next to the elevator. Our biggest disappointment however was the fact that we took our grandchildren with us to be able to swim in the pool, as that is their favorite thing to do on our getaways. The pools heat pump was broken and not working. There was a sign on the pool door telling you this, but the pool was completely unusable. I understand that repairs happen, but we were never informed of this at check in or we might of found another hotel. My grandkids were heartbroken not to be able to swim! The lady at the front desk said it had been broken for awhile and the part was on order, but they were not sure when it would come in. We were not even offered a discount due to the inconvenience! This was not at all like most comfort inns that I've stayed at. It's a little off the beaten path, so it feels like it doesn't get a lot of business. Therefore they've given up on the upkeep of the place. The good part was that the staff was VERY friendly and helpful with every thing needed. A-plus rating for the staff.

Construction was annoying. Internet was bad

Beds were comfortable. Heater in pool was broken and had a ordor and slippery. Breakfast was good. Bathroom was slippery also.

Property was conveniently located by the airport & offered airport shuttle service for a very late flight arrival of 11pm, so very much appreciated the shuttle services by this hotel. Shuttle driver and front desk personnel were very nice and helpful amso.

We booked through Expedia, th3 description and pictures and price was perfect. We stay for not even 2 hour's before checking out and getting a differwnt hotel. The room was big but the carpet was rough, stained up and it smelled horrible. The walls were dirty and the paint was chipping off. Hair all over the floor in the bathroom too. In the pictures it shows a hot tub and pool. The hot tub is no longer there and the pool was only 56°because the heater broke. This is not stated online through Expedia at all. Overall horrible

First room we were given smelled horrible, second room was better but the carpet by the air conditioner was wet and smelled of mold. The entire hotel is very poorly maintained. Would not recommend.

We found 2 dead roaches as soon as we entered the room. Then the next morning, my husband found a small live one in the bathroom. The next day my husband saw another live one in our room. It’s a nice hotel with a friendly staff, but that issue should have been solved way before now because of prior complaints. We’ll stay somewhere else even though that hotel is convenient to my mom who lives nearby.

Our room was hot when we checked in. We had trouble keeping the AC running. There was also a dead cockroach on the floor. We checked the room for bedbugs and thankfully there were none. The workers were friendly.

One of the reasons we picked this hotel was because of the pool. We were staying for a couple of days, but when we arrived, the pool was closed. Would have been nice to get a notification prior to us arriving. Food area and lobby was clean. Continental breakfast was good and a nice variety. Pretty much went downhill from there. Elevator was ok, hallway appears that it hasn't seen a good vac in a week or more. We arrived late in the evening and left early the next day for most for the day. We got back to the hotel around 6 and adjusted the HVAC temps. To our horror, we found a used condom on the HVAC behind the lid for temps. Hotel staff arrived at the room, took pictures and did offer us a different room, but we were very unhappy as it made us question the cleanliness of the rooms. The shower temperatures were very hit or miss as it adjusted itself quite often. Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

First of all the room reeked of stale smoke there was a stain of something dripping down the couch the shower was dirty there was a hole in the wall behind the door that was painted a different color, a dirty sock left on the floor and from the previous guest and the refrigerator was leaking.

The staff were wonderful. No complaints at all with any of them. The property needs some updating and the cleanliness was a little remiss. I found a soda can in a corner under a chair that did not belong to us. The beds were also made haphazardly. The neighborhood was a little sketchy but that is no one's fault.

I didn’t stay there. I tried two rooms and they both smelled terrible so I left. I didn’t get any money back either. The lady at the front desk was very nice and I felt bad leaving but I couldn’t sleep there. None of the windows open and everything is musty smelling.

Room very comfortable spotless, I felt confident enough to use the bathtub.

King room was spacious. Good bathroom counter space. Bed comfortable but too high. Breakfast was same food all 3 days we were there. Lots of road construction around the hotel. Location close to downtown New Bern.

Worst hotel shower we have ever had. At one point The water completey stopped while my wife was in the shower. Other than that Hotel and stay was Great!

Toilet not working well.. Hard to control room temperature.

Very convenient to in town of New Bern. We stayed in a room with king size bed and pull out sofa. Very spacious. We went to wedding at Amelia Grove and this hotel was 10 minutes away.

Still has a "new" feel and look. Spacious rooms and very clean. Definitely an excellent choice

Overall it was a great hotel. However when we first arrived we realize the air conditioning unit wasn't working. We had Hotel staff come take a look at it and she thought she had it fixed but it didn't work. In the end we had to transfer to another room which was inconvenient but not that big of a deal. However I realized first thing in the morning that our coffee maker was missing apart so I couldn't make my own coffee. When I went to the front desk there was a heavy set woman working who wasn't very helpful. She told me she didn't have another coffee maker to give me. I told her I would like to have a cup of coffee before I leave in the morning which was supposed to be very early and ahead of the breakfast schedule. She told me that there would be coffee at 4:00 a.m. when I went down to get coffee she was no longer working and the person that was working hadn't made coffee yet. It was very frustrating. The breakfast offering in the morning was really good with lots of options and fresh food available.

Smoke alarm would randomly go off during the night. Woke us up 3 times. It would beep once or twice then stop. Then about 30 mins later it would do it again did that several times. You can here the people in the next room talking. We also found roaches in our room. Wifi would not work for us and the tv control would only turn the tv on. Nothing else.. it would only let you watch Fox News.

The room was spacious..clean..very comfortable.

The bathroom door hook is missing. Lamp was flickering. Shower knob was very loose. Paint job in bathroom was sloppy. Cranked toilet tank lid. Thermostat for cooling was inconsistent. Seing on temp was more than 4 degrees. Turned on air and it took hours to come on.

There was lots of construction in the surrounding area. Also, I didn't think it was a particularly nice area. The breakfasts were very good with a good variety from which to choose. The hotel was clean. My biggest complaint was the toilet! It was the height of the ones in a kindergarten! It was so low that I had to grab the sink to get up. I am 78 but I don't have this problem. The attendant said that the handicap rooms have higher toilets but there are only FOUR of those. It should be offered up front. That was miserable!

I have stayed at this hotel a few times over the years. Everytime has been great! The staff is always super friendly.

The staff was super friendly. Frome check in to check out the front desk staff was always so kind and always greeted me when coming and going. Check in was super easy. I would stay again because of the front desk staff. They are the best!!!!!!

At check-in, front desk staff was not present & after appearing, she did not present herself as friendly. Check-out, also was not present. I had to return several times before being able to check out (which was quick).

Construction going on right in front of the hotel. While checking in, we were informed that the pool is closed because the door to it didn’t lock. They had no idea when it would reopen. The pool was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel and we said as much. No apology or sympathy. We finished checking in and headed back to get our luggage when we found a HUGE cockroach in the entry way. We alerted the front desk. Again-no apology or sympathy. My husband killed it and the front desk attendant swept it up. Got to our room and there was a huge stain on the floor, trash behind the door, and the wires on the air conditioning unit were hanging down on the floor. We reported it to the front desk and for the third time-no apology, no sympathy. She did take notes and said she would report it. She also said she would let maintenance know about the wires. We stayed 4 nights-no one ever came to take care of the wires. We requested that the trash be collected and bed be redone on our last night. Wires were still out and the trash that was in the room when we arrived was still there, but the trash we put in the trash can was collected. Will not be staying again and will not recommend to others. We saved $200 compared to other places in the area, but if I had to do it again I would pay the $200 and stay elsewhere.

We had to wait about 20 minutes at the front desk to check in. There was nobody working the desk, she had left to make an airport shuttle run. Staff levels need attention.

When I got to the hotel they made me pay a extra $50 I didn’t know I had to pay.. I already paid for my 1 night stay. $170 .. This wasn’t my first time staying at this hotel. In April I stayed at this same hotel and I didn’t have to pay the extra money

I like that the property is back from the main road. The staff was very prompt and friendly. I will be staying there again.

A nice property, the road in front of property is under construction which made it a bit noisy and congested.

Access from the highway was difficult.

The hotel was fantastic. The front desk was OK, not overly friendly but not rude either. Breakfast was great! There is quite a bit of construction going on in front of the hotel so if arriving after dark, harder to navigate. Room was clean, bed was comfortable.

Very close to the New Bern downtown area and destinations along the Bern River.

Isolated and unsafe

Not knowing the area we picked the hotel on price and photos. Average in every way. Hotel is currently behind some big road construction. If I were doing it again I would pick somewhere closer to the downtown area.

The hotel was a nice location except for the local traffic they were doing on expanding the highway. We were in town visiting friends and it was like a 5 min ride, perfect. We were able to see downtown and enjoy it. We also were in a suitable location to visit the coast of Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon, the aquarium in Pine Knolls. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was great. The pool was clean and clear, however the water was a little bit to chilly for my liking would have preferred it to be warmer.

The tub wouldn’t drain when you tried to shower. They closed breakfast an hour early and the excuse was there isn’t enough people. We weren’t able to get breakfast as advertised because of this. Unbelievable

Room was rundown. Stains on carpets- linens- curtains… water pressure was terrible and shower made a humming squeaking noise that work up my kids. There mold growing on a breakfast sandwich being offered. Glad I only booked 2 nights. Would not stay here again

Everything about the hotel was on point. Nice people, clean room, excellent hot breakfast. The only minor inconvenience was that the water in the shower didn't get as HOT as I like. Not a big deal, but something I noticed.

The room was nice. The area around the hotel looks like a war zone because of construction. Not their fault, I realize, but they are responsible for the following. No hot tub even though it’s shown on website. Staff said, “those are old photos”. Took about 10 minutes to get even warm water in shower. Complimentary breakfast was a bust. We were there at 9 (ends at 10), no food, no coffee. 1 person in the kitchen. Poor woman was working so hard. But again, nice room, but we won’t be back.
