I assumed the rooms were above or next to the pub but was actually a property 2 doors down. On the plus side probably less noisy, but it did feel we were put in the dingy bit, especially after poking our heads next door which looked far more upmarket. Positives - great location, excellent breakfast, comfy and decent sized room, if a bit basic, thogh Sky Sports in the room was greatly appreciated. Staff accommodating and friendly. Would return but would request a room in the fancy part!

Great location in Anstruther. Lovely personell. Great breakfast and dinner with a good variety of both food and drinks. The outdoor place was a bit noisy with the pub's air conditioner residing on it. When the people living on the floor above us walked around it made quite some noise early in the morning.

Lovely room with huge bed and sea view, tv a little flaky. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Car park is a free public carpark 5min walk away but room to drop off luggage before moving the car

I wasn’t in main property. I was 2 entrances down. Stairs & try opening main door with key. ( dangerous). Up a flight of stairs. Old fashioned key. Had no idea - had to get help! Room was large. Bathroom large. Had to use key to lock my door once in room. Felt this could be a problem if a fire! Breakfast was provided. Waitress was very nice. No parking at hotel. Very inconvenient. Also when checked out - they said Expedia didn’t send my payment. I had to pay via credit card. I thought all my hotels were paid!!!!

A beautiful and comfortable room! Stunning views. The little garden for hotel guests is a perfect setting. The best breakfast we’ve had so far in Scotland! The manager and her team were so accommodating to our family 100% recommend

Great little room in a great location. Everyone was super nice. However we were there when Scotland was playing Germany in the Euros… the bar was packed. It was extremely loud. The windows to the room were right on the street and not sound proof. The party didn’t die down until well after midnight. Besides that… the 1 night was great

We honestly had a wonderful stay at The Bank. The food and service was incredible for dinner and breakfast. The bed and linens were very nice. Our only drawback was the location of our room, right on the street beside the adjacent pub. Also, I wouldn't say the hotel is a four star, unless we were in an auxiliary section

We were a little late arriving so we had to check in at the bar which was super loud next to our room. I wish we'd have known our room was on the street next to the bar's front door because loud people were coming and going until early morning hours. Luckily, I brought earplugs which helped a little. Breakfast was good.

I stayed in the room facing High Street for two nights, and the experience was great all around. It was surprisingly quiet. The bar is five steps away, the staff was cordial and professional, and both breakfast and evening meals were well-made and presented.

As soon as we entered the room and opened the bathroom door there was an awful smell of wet dirty rag and the floor was wet. A member of staff offered to apply some airfreshner which did not solve the problem at all, it just hid it for a while. I think it was the bathtub drain. Remote controls were sticky and they wiped them after requested. Another member of staff said the manager could talk to us on checkout and give us a discount which makes me believe they know there's something wrong with that room. I was given different information about the time the doors to the street were closed by different staff members, all very confusing. They display a playground on hotels.com that they DO NOT HAVE. The beer garden is poorly manteined and not open. The mini fridge in the room looked like a toy and it spoiled fresh fruit juice because it was so warm inside. Awful mattress. the manager didn't present himself and I had to ask to speak to him before learning I was speaking to him already. Not even a sorry for the inconvenience. He took 10% off of a 180£ a day bill on a terrible room that is not worth that AT ALL! Also, the windows were not double glazed and faced the street so it did not feel safe, specially being by the pub and people being drunk right outside. The door did not have a latch or anything like that, either, and the door itself did not feel safe. I travel a lot and this was the worst and the most absurdly overpriced hotel I've ever stayed in. Never going back.

Very friendly staff, clean, quiet rooms. Good hearty breakfast. Lovely view of garden,beach and river from dining room and bedroom. Slight issues were TV stuck on one channel and holder for shower head broken. To be fair, we didn't mention these till check out, as weren't big issues for us. Neither of these things would stop us staying here again. It was an unexpected treat to find such a nice place to stay as we were passing through the area!

Nice bed. Lovely staff who went above and beyond when we couldn’t use tv due to missing remote. There was a dirty towel hanging on back of door from previous guests which made us doubt cleanliness of room

We had a lovely stay at The Bank. Room was at the back with a cracking view and was nice and quiet. Breakfast was amazing too, I had smoked haddock both days. Only gave 3 stars for condition as bathroom door handle was loose, shower head was loose and fell down in the holder and there was only one hand towel. Long haired folks need a separate towel for their hair. Apart from this the room was spotless. Tea, coffee and water provided, will definitely stay again.

I chose a room pictured on Expedia with a lovely quiet sea view. On arriving we were shown to a room facing the street with very noisy traffic. I complained immediately and we were given a satisfactory room with a sea view but still not the room pictured on your website. The staff blame the situation on Expedia. This situation is not satisfactory. People should get the room they chose from your website.

We had a terrible stay here. We were in room 27a which was obviously a shop in a previous life. Accessed from the street not the main hotel with a massive single glazed window on to the street at ground level. We had actually requested in March 23 an upper floor quiet room. This was the opposite noisy until the small hours of the morning. We complained straight away but we’re told there were no other rooms. We complained the next morning and were told “what do you expect we are a pub with rooms”. We paid £143 for this room. Never again worse hotel we have ever stayed in. You do get breakfast but not up to much. We will be contacting Hotel.con who we booked through as this room should not be offered to the general public. See photo

Very friendly staff, clean, quiet rooms. Good hearty breakfast. Lovely view of garden,beach and river from dining room and bedroom. Slight issues were TV stuck on one channel and holder for shower head broken. To be fair, we didn't mention these till check out, as weren't big issues for us. Neither of these things would stop us staying here again. It was an unexpected treat to find such a nice place to stay as we were passing through the area!

We had a lovely stay at The Bank. Room was at the back with a cracking view and was nice and quiet. Breakfast was amazing too, I had smoked haddock both days. Only gave 3 stars for condition as bathroom door handle was loose, shower head was loose and fell down in the holder and there was only one hand towel. Long haired folks need a separate towel for their hair. Apart from this the room was spotless. Tea, coffee and water provided, will definitely stay again.

The room we stayed in was nice and clean, but it is directly under the bar and could here all the noise from above including the clearing in the morning. Needs soundproofing. Staff friendly and helpful.

We honestly had a wonderful stay at The Bank. The food and service was incredible for dinner and breakfast. The bed and linens were very nice. Our only drawback was the location of our room, right on the street beside the adjacent pub. Also, I wouldn't say the hotel is a four star, unless we were in an auxiliary section

As soon as we entered the room and opened the bathroom door there was an awful smell of wet dirty rag and the floor was wet. A member of staff offered to apply some airfreshner which did not solve the problem at all, it just hid it for a while. I think it was the bathtub drain. Remote controls were sticky and they wiped them after requested. Another member of staff said the manager could talk to us on checkout and give us a discount which makes me believe they know there's something wrong with that room. I was given different information about the time the doors to the street were closed by different staff members, all very confusing. They display a playground on hotels.com that they DO NOT HAVE. The beer garden is poorly manteined and not open. The mini fridge in the room looked like a toy and it spoiled fresh fruit juice because it was so warm inside. Awful mattress. the manager didn't present himself and I had to ask to speak to him before learning I was speaking to him already. Not even a sorry for the inconvenience. He took 10% off of a 180£ a day bill on a terrible room that is not worth that AT ALL! Also, the windows were not double glazed and faced the street so it did not feel safe, specially being by the pub and people being drunk right outside. The door did not have a latch or anything like that, either, and the door itself did not feel safe. I travel a lot and this was the worst and the most absurdly overpriced hotel I've ever stayed in. Never going back.

Lovely room with huge bed and sea view, tv a little flaky. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Car park is a free public carpark 5min walk away but room to drop off luggage before moving the car

I wasn’t in main property. I was 2 entrances down. Stairs & try opening main door with key. ( dangerous). Up a flight of stairs. Old fashioned key. Had no idea - had to get help! Room was large. Bathroom large. Had to use key to lock my door once in room. Felt this could be a problem if a fire! Breakfast was provided. Waitress was very nice. No parking at hotel. Very inconvenient. Also when checked out - they said Expedia didn’t send my payment. I had to pay via credit card. I thought all my hotels were paid!!!!

Absolutely brilliant hotel with outstanding views, amazing food and stunning rooms. 5 stars and we'll definitely be back. If you want a few chilled nights then this is the place to be plus you've everything within 5-10 min walking distance.

Great little room in a great location. Everyone was super nice. However we were there when Scotland was playing Germany in the Euros… the bar was packed. It was extremely loud. The windows to the room were right on the street and not sound proof. The party didn’t die down until well after midnight. Besides that… the 1 night was great

The Bank hotel is just the type of accommodations my wife & I were looking for, privately owned, small, unassuming, within easy walking distance to local shops and with a unique, beautiful view.

Little bit noisy from the street. We booked dinner for 7.00pm and we sat for 15mins with menu's before someone took our order. Breakfast this morning was outstanding

We had a terrible stay here. We were in room 27a which was obviously a shop in a previous life. Accessed from the street not the main hotel with a massive single glazed window on to the street at ground level. We had actually requested in March 23 an upper floor quiet room. This was the opposite noisy until the small hours of the morning. We complained straight away but we’re told there were no other rooms. We complained the next morning and were told “what do you expect we are a pub with rooms”. We paid £143 for this room. Never again worse hotel we have ever stayed in. You do get breakfast but not up to much. We will be contacting Hotel.con who we booked through as this room should not be offered to the general public. See photo

The staff were amazing, room was clean and cosy, food was fabulous. My only problem was the noise. The room was on the main street and you could hear the live band playing till 12. Ear plugs could be requested but they should be left in the room if the hotel know the location is noisy. Would have been a 5 star stay otherwise.

Coastal town was amazing! So cute and quaint! The hotel was okay - definitely fine for 1-2 nights but had some deferred maintenance in our room. Importantly, the hotel is associated with a bar and it got VERY loud and rowdy when we were there. It was impossible to sleep until late into the night

My wife and I had a great 2 night stay at The Bank and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room although quite small was clean and the beds were super comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast but the real stars are the staff, they're all warm, friendly and helpful. I only knocked a star off my rating for amenities as it's not particularly suitable for reasonably disabled people or wheelchair users, apart from that it's a lovely place to stay and we'll definitely be back if we're ever staying again in that area.

On arrival we were ushered into an adjacent building with a very dilapidated exterior. The bland room resembled a student bedsit on the busy main road & had a bed without a headboard so pillows disappeared in the gap between the mattress and wall. The wall mirror is only suitable if you are over 6’ 6”! No window blinds, so privacy necessitated closing the blackout curtains & living in the dark. Sleep was rendered impossible as two luminous green exit signs glowed above the interior doors & bounced light off the mirrors. The bathroom was functional at best with a shower over the bath. A cheap unwashed bottle of hand soap and similar of shower gel provided. No conditioner. One hand towel to share between two guests & 2 bath towels. Clearly we were beyond disappointed. I had sent an email directly to The Bank several weeks before our stay to ask further a quiet room on an upper floor. We had been travelling around Scotland paying the equivalent price in similarly rated guest houses whose rooms were stylishly decorated with every thought given to the needs of their guests. The owners here clearly have no such consideration. Thank you to Laura who dealt politely with my immediate concerns & tried, but without success to move us to alternative accommodation. She was able to offer some small compensation. On a positive note, the staff in the restaurant were polite and the breakfast was good.
