It was nice, but I thought from the pictures that it was more luxury. The sauna and the pool were both in different buildings, so it wasn't too convenient to use them. I didn't see anyone using the sauna actually at all. I liked the room view to the ocean, cleanliness, fridge and microwave in the room. The restaurant is nice, nothing fancy, but the food was nice

Amazing hotel right on the beach. Such a beautiful view from our room. Loved the free amenities such as the delicious cookies, Tillamook ice cream, free drink and complimentary bicycles.

Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. Easy to get in to town on your own, or they have a shuttle on demand. The restaurant on site is excellent and has a nice view of Haystack Rock. It’s pet friendly, and has easy access to the beach. Warm and friendly staff to help with whatever you need.

We have stayed at the Surf Sand many times and like everything about it. Only comment is that the lift was out of order and we were on the 3rd floor. This was repaired swiftly. Otherwise wonderful stay.

We can't wait to visit again! The location is fantastic in town, plenty of parking (even for EVs), and the room was spotless! We got an ocean front room, with a glorious bath, and every staff member we ran in to was friendly and helpful. We loved we could bring our dogs, and they were very warmly welcomed!

The oceanfront location was great! But.. landscaped areas around resort were overgrown with weeds and trash. Our room had many areas that had obviously not been cleaned or sanitized such as the microwave and refrigerator, bathroom floor was filthy with piles of hair and debris in the corners and under the vanity. The staff was very attentive and quick in dealing with my cleanliness issues. We were even given a restaurant credit to compensate for our inconvenience. Overall, the staff in every aspect of our stay (waiters, front desk, housekeeping) was incredible and accommodating. Also, very friendly and welcoming. The General Manager was very active in resolving any issues and did so with kindness and generosity. It was overall a great stay because of all these wonderful, caring people.

Staff was very friendly, the rooms and property was very clean, I had views of haystack rock from my balcony, and the amenities were great! I will definitely come back here. They do have a bus that goes back-and-forth through the little downtown area, or you can just take a walk on the beach there and it’s only a 10 to 15 minute walk. Very lovely little place.

I have been to this hotel multiple times and usually love it. I still recommend it, but this visit had some issues. First off, I did not get a room key until 5pm. The hotel was completely booked and just swamped. This happens. But for the price and a four star hotel, I expect more. The VIP benefit is two drinks at check in — this is offered to everyone and is not really a VIP benefit. Second, the rooms are called ocean view but are really partial ocean view. You have to really be careful what room you choose if you want a full ocean view (it did feel like Expedia customers are the last to get the good rooms). We had a room on the bottom floor of a side building - so partial view for the upper floors and really blocked view on the bottom floor (which I believe is the same cost as the upper floors). If you want to see the ocean, you have to stand by the window. And people walk by the windows and can see in, so you basically have to keep the shades down. Not great for the ocean view. Because the hotel was packed, things like towels for the beach were not replenished. In addition, the dishes provided in the room were dirty. Also, I needed an iron - it took two calls to the front desk to get it (as not provided in the room), and the iron had melted crayon on it which got on my garment. Again, for a four star hotel, I expect more. In the past, I have loved this hotel. Just overcrowded this time. The beach access is great and mostly wonderful room. But pricey and not four star.

I'm so glad that we splurged for ocean view balcony. It was an amazing view of haystack Rock. We could sit and relax and watch the sunrise and the sunset. It was a very short walk to the beach everything was in walking distance. Town restaurants and shops were very close to walk to. We did not have to drive at all once we got there until we left.

We were fortunate to have a studio suite with an ocean front view. What an amazing and comfortable experience. The room has everything you need. The balcony had a 180 view of the ocean and Haystack Rock.

We love Cannon Beach, and the Surfsand was conveniently located to everything. While we enjoyed our long weekend, there were two issues we felt needed addressed ... when I booked the room it said oceanfront view. The room was indeed facing the ocean with the "view" obscured by a very large flowering shrub and a concrete retaining wall! Transparency in the room description with a reflection in the price would have been appreciated (oceanfront rooms are not cheap!). Second, being on the ground floor we could hear every foot step from the room above. EVERY FOOTSTEP!

Beyond disappointing, will not return. I booked this as a luxury property / splurge for my mother. I chose an oceanfront suite with two queen beds. Checking in was a slow-going, and we were uninformed of the resort amenities specifically the community bonfire, the town complimentary shuttle, and the latest time to place a call for room service. When we arrived in the room unfortunately we were deflated. The property chooses to use tablets for things like “about the room” and room service, but the one in our room was not charged, so it died as I took it out to place an order. The tablet also did not charge an iPhone even though there’s a port for it. The phone headset was unresponsive so placing calls for front desk or the restaurant was not possible. The two ice machines nearest the building were out of order. Moving to the outdoor patio, the foot stool was broken in two places and unusable. In the bathroom, the TP roll holder was broken and hanging off the side of the wall. The construction on the ground floor transmits noise and heavy walkers above us made for light sleeping. We only stayed one night, and for something we intended to splurge on we felt that what we received was simply unacceptable for a resort that commands nearly $1K night for a room. I alerted the morning staff to the needs of this room and she seemed apologetic. It was a disappointing stay, especially coming from a place in Yachats that had truly 5 star service and was 1/3 the nightly rate.

The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. They moved us from our original room to a room with a better view at no extra charge. The amenities offered were fabulous. It was super fun to be able to enjoy ice cream and cookies in the lobby while visiting with other guests and the hotel staff. If we had any questions they were always available to answer them and provide us with quality service. We would definitely come back.

This was a great location for canon beach with breathtaking views. I would highly recommend booking the rooms with the views. Parking was plentiful and I appreciated having the shuttle option to get to the central shopping district, but it’s also a super quick walk. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff was very friendly, the rooms and property was very clean, I had views of haystack rock from my balcony, and the amenities were great! I will definitely come back here. They do have a bus that goes back-and-forth through the little downtown area, or you can just take a walk on the beach there and it’s only a 10 to 15 minute walk. Very lovely little place.

We had a beautifully remodeled oceanfront suite with a balcony. It was pricey but worth it. A bottle of wine and takeout food on the sunny balcony was perfect. And the new flooring was great. No carpet to collect sand! We like this hotel because it’s conveniently located with a restaurant on site and a nice walk into the town.

The view of the beach, haystack rock and the sunset from the room was great. The room service was a bit pricey but excellent food. We had a tasty breakfast in the restaurant but the heater was busted and it was really cold in there.

Beyond disappointing, will not return. I booked this as a luxury property / splurge for my mother. I chose an oceanfront suite with two queen beds. Checking in was a slow-going, and we were uninformed of the resort amenities specifically the community bonfire, the town complimentary shuttle, and the latest time to place a call for room service. When we arrived in the room unfortunately we were deflated. The property chooses to use tablets for things like “about the room” and room service, but the one in our room was not charged, so it died as I took it out to place an order. The tablet also did not charge an iPhone even though there’s a port for it. The phone headset was unresponsive so placing calls for front desk or the restaurant was not possible. The two ice machines nearest the building were out of order. Moving to the outdoor patio, the foot stool was broken in two places and unusable. In the bathroom, the TP roll holder was broken and hanging off the side of the wall. The construction on the ground floor transmits noise and heavy walkers above us made for light sleeping. We only stayed one night, and for something we intended to splurge on we felt that what we received was simply unacceptable for a resort that commands nearly $1K night for a room. Excellent experience, right on the ocean! Haystack Rock and ocean views from every room. Units were clean with thoughtful, upscale bathrooms. Every employee we interacted with was friendly, kind and helpful. Big thumbs up!. The onsite restaurant was also beach casual with great food and friendly service!

This property was amazing...you get what you pay for. The pool was beautiful. The safety of the common areas (key access only) was appreciated. The view from our room was gorgeous...however, if you want a full beach view book a beachside room. We had an oceanview room, still nice, but next time it's beachside. This hotel offers 1 night stays, whereas others in the area require a 3 night minimum...something to note. The restaurant next door was amazing...we sat outside enjoying a small view of the beach. We chose to partake in the smores experience on the beach and watched the sunset. Definitely recommend! Get up early and have the beach to yourself in the morning with super easy beach access from the hotel. LOVED the room...fireplace inside, spacious balcony to lounge on...the railings are a bit hard to see through while sitting on the balcony however, but I put a pillow on my chair and that helped. That would be my only complaint...the bathroom was stunning with a rainfall shower head and a handheld wand as well. Sand is likely to be part of the experience. lol Some we found and some we brought in ourselves...a true beach experience. HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

Restaurant staff was awesome but the food was expensive and sub par. 60.00 steak was gristly and tough and the 50.00 clambake was worth about 16.00. Too bad, as the hotel is great.

Beautiful place right on the beach. We had a king suite with balcony view of Haystack Rock. Spotless rooms, cookies and a free beer at check in. Very good restaurant right next door that also provides room service for the hotel. Gorgeous beach access. Nightly bonfires and other events at different times of year. Well worth the price.

We stayed in an oceanfront room for one night and it was absolutely the best. The location is so beautiful. We had a beautiful sunset and the tide pools were fantastic. Our room was spacious and clean. We even had a visit of an enormous elk at night (he stood in front of our patio doors enjoying the grass). Cannon Beach is a very cute place, ultimate vacation feeling.

The value for the money scores a zero - crappy mattress, plastic furniture, mediocre shower/water pressure, etc. Helpful that the hotel offers a shuttle to the downtown shopping area but would be more helpful if the front desk would answer the phone when a pick up was needed. in general no one picks up the phone so calling for basic help requires a few tries. While there's a restaurant on site, they do not hold tables for guests so one has no choice but to drive or walk 15 minutes to town for food (which would be fine if you don't have small children). Bonfire on the beach was a nice add and this is why I didn't only give a single star.

A very nice place that makes you feel at home. Great cookies when checking in and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. Can walk to many different restaurants and shops. Will stay here again when back in the area. First class facility.
