From arrival & pulling up in front of the beautiful grand house, full of old world charm, to checking in to our well appointed junior suite, the staff were attentive & polite, the food was delicious, locally sourced & served with attention to detail. The bar provided a fantastic selection of food & drinks & Champagne seemed to be the order of the day, we even tried a pint of Clarkson's local brew. Set in its own well kept grounds over looking Cheltenham racecourse, which was only a short walk though beautiful countryside, we felt a sense of tranquility & relaxation. With a lovely heated outdoor pool & entertainment areas, our stay never felt over crowded. After our 2 night stay we felt refreshed, having been well attended to by the staff. Check out came all too soon from this 5 Star luxury hotel & we left following an amazing breakfast. If you want to enjoy a quiet & unassuming luxury hotel, oozing with history & class, Ellenborough Park certainly ticks all the right boxes.

Amazing beautiful place with wonderful staff. Great breakfast. Book the spa in advance, if you want to get a massage. They also have electric vehicles charging stations, which was very very helpful!

We’ve just arrived home from a one night stay and we’re very impressed with this hotel. This is a quintessential British old fashioned luxury hotel. The rooms are all individual and ours was very large with a wonderful view of Cheltenham racecourse. The oak panelled dining room, gave a feeling of grandeur without being stuffy and the food and serving staff were excellent both at dinner and breakfast. The hotel grounds are magnificent and we made use of the heated outdoor pool and spa, which was clean and not too busy. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish now we had booked for longer.

The property is beautiful, but the disappointing spa facilities . The jacuzzi had tiles coming off, the sauna and steam are soo small. The check in at 3pm and spa shuts at 6pm, open at 10am and you have to checkout at 11, so you only get a window of few hours ti to use the spa. They won’t allow you to use the spa after checkout, like many other hotels allow. The heating wasn’t working in one of the rooms . Not upto the standard of the hotel I was expecting , disappointment.

The spa and pool were highlights. The food was good but a little below what we have had at other 5* hotels. Puddings were superb though. The service from staff was generally pretty good and all together an enjoyable stay.

TLDR. Picturesque stately home, with warm, friendly service with quintessential British charm. If you're looking for a Cotswolds hotel, without the trappings of influencers (SoHo Farmhouse), or breaking the bank (Manor Estelle), this is for you. It's Cotswolds without any of the attitude you'll get at other hotels, with warm, welcoming service. There are lovely touches like the boot and jacket lending service, the dog 'spa' and the main room with its Tudor-style furnishings. This is a place for folks going outdoors, or families. The spa and pool are small, so it's less the 'spend the day at the hotel' property but a place to really go explore the countryside. The rooms are fairly modern but nothing remarkable. This is more historical, cozy than luxe. Likewise the service is warm, friendly but does not have the polish of a Belmond or top-calibre hotel but at the price-point is still very solid. Breakfast if it's an option to include is worth it, with a generous spread. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything as good nearby.

Fundamental bones of the hotel are excellent, beautiful buildings and stunning views. However, the shocking level of service really brings this hotel down. - sulky reception staff - lots of staff working, with everything taking an age to arrive - waiting at the bar for 15 minutes before a member of staff arrived - food took over an hour to arrive - had to sit in the overspill area for breakfast, which didn’t have the same experience for breakfast and meant a walk through the reception to bring food back and forth - check in took over 30 minutes and 20 minutes queue for check out - spa and gym amenities do not open until 1020, which frankly is utterly ridiculous for a 5 star hotel. People like to exercise before having breakfast and is often the busiest time for hotel gyms - laughable that service was applied to every order e.g 20% on top for each cocktail after having the luxury of waiting an age to arrive - staff wouldn’t clean our table, they would come and collect a single plate and then not return for 15mins when they collected another plate when four of us were eating. - coffees at breakfast were ordered and then forgotten. When the staff noticed they just they would put another order through but no apologies

The 'Spa' was fairly limited with just a hot tub, sauna, steam room and 6 beds. Based on this, i wouldn't say it's a spa hotel, just a hotel with a small spa add-on. Its was great weather which meant there weren't enough beds by the outdoor heated pool so there wasnt really anywhere for us to go. The treatments were good, but I think overpriced. The restaurant was not good at catering to my food intollerances, even serving me food which contained my intollerances by mistake. They didn't have much they could adapt on the menu which was disappointing. I think the staff could have been more attentive, and they didn't seem that knowledgable about what was available (except the spa staff who were great).

It is a beautiful hotel with a great history. All the staff were great. Lovely breakfasts. We were there 4 nights and had one dinner there which was great. We wanted to explore Cheltenham the other nights. Only hiccup was on our third day as elderly we decided to make use of the hotel first class facilities (out door heated swimming pool etc) and the most beautiful and comfy lounge. And although our room was empty at 10am , housekeeping did not service it until 3pm in spite of requests.

Very good evening meal, and helpful staff. But the hotel looks tired, and frankly not clean. Dust and dirty tables everywhere. I took the attached photo after "drawing' in the dust on the frame of the painting right next to our dining table. I didnt even have to rise from my seat to write in the dust.

Very nice grounds. Very spa treatment. Decent breakfast. Room was big but didn’t feel luxurious and a bit of mold in the shower. A bit tired. e.g. curtain was hanging off last curtain hook. Service didn’t really meet 5 star. Dining experience wasn’t great. Took 15 mins to take dishes away. Probably wouldn’t go again.

I liked its sense of charm, location and wasnt too busy. The service generally was good, but I had to chase a couple of time for drink/food. Also was surprised with the lack of cleanliness for a 5* hotel. It wasnt quite the standard I was expecting, it was just ok.

The experience that I had at Ellenborough Park was mixed, some staff members are clearly so much better with their customer service levels than others. On the day of arrival the guy behind the desk wouldn’t engage with me at all, he just kept starring at my missus even when I struck conversation with him he looked at my missus and responded to her which I found very bizarre, I started to feel as though I was a ghost (or just a very rude man). Laura who was on reception Monday morning had superb customer service skills engaged with us both and gave us maps for things we might like to do. Keeping on the topic of the first man he booked a taxi for us to get to our restaurant in the night time, first of all the guy was late and second of all he charged us £19 both ways for a restaurant that was 5 minutes away in the car. The hotel did deal with this though when we arrived back so I applaud them on that, but people should be careful as they clearly see people from out of town and think they can make a pretty penny!! The hotel itself is a beautiful building but it could do with some refurbishment, the carpets are outdated and they’re many stains. The breakfast buffet and food for breakfast was lovely no complaints there, but the last thing I will say is the cleanliness of the pool was disgusting I’ve taken photos of cotton pads that were floating in the heated pool surely for a 5 star you would expect the place to be immaculate.. this sadly wasn’t the case.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room and food was lovely. The spa is quite small but nice. The only thing I would say is there were dirty cups and plates around the pool area and the service in the evening was very slow.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location. Let down by customer service and things like a broken shower head in the room and jets in the spa hot tub not working. Customer servicewise, the receptionist couldnt crack a smile, our coffees were forgotten at breakfast two days in a row and when we thought we were getting some good customer service we got charged for it! (The restaurant heard us talking about it being our mini moon and brought over two glasses of champagne which werent requested by us but then they added them to our bill!)

The location is beautiful and so is the hotel. The only thing that let it down was a bit of clumsyness: Cleaning of the room, dirty plates left in the room, no new toilet roll added, the room was 1st floor with stairs, we travelled with a young child and were unaware there was no lift before arrival. I would just expect better from a 5*

For an expensive 5 star hotel, we were not impressed. Our refrigerator was not turned on in our room, resulting in expensive cheese being ruined. We had to request multiple times to have the fridge turned on; even then, after it was turned on, we had to turn up the coolness ourselves so it could keep food items cold. In addition, our A/C emitted a horribly loud sound every 10-15 minutes. We reported this promptly to reception, and it was never fixed during our 6 night stay. Lastly, whenever we called reception or concierge - even during normal business hours - no one ever answered. No one told us about the other amenities of the hotel - afternoon tea, the bar, a room where there appeared to be drinks or light snacks. We felt like we weren’t treated as valued guests, even though we spent nearly a full week at the resort. Some of the service staff, such as the spa receptionists and cleaning crew, were phenomenal. But EP is lacking the seamless service and standards of a five star hotel. Other aspects of Ellenborough are beautiful and appreciated: the rich history, the grounds, the walking trails, the location. But for the price and reputation, it didn’t meet 5 star standards.

Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms and accommodations. The room and bathroom were extremely large and beautifully appointed. We ate at the restaurant one evening and the food and ambiance was great. We will definitely stay here again when we return!

We’ve just arrived home from a one night stay and we’re very impressed with this hotel. This is a quintessential British old fashioned luxury hotel. The rooms are all individual and ours was very large with a wonderful view of Cheltenham racecourse. The oak panelled dining room, gave a feeling of grandeur without being stuffy and the food and serving staff were excellent both at dinner and breakfast. The hotel grounds are magnificent and we made use of the heated outdoor pool and spa, which was clean and not too busy. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish now we had booked for longer.

We booked this hotel for our recent engagement, the hotel is beautiful. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate our good news. The room was also very nice, with a 4-post bed, and a massive bathroom with a claw-footed bath and separate shower.

The location is beautiful and so is the hotel. The only thing that let it down was a bit of clumsyness: Cleaning of the room, dirty plates left in the room, no new toilet roll added, the room was 1st floor with stairs, we travelled with a young child and were unaware there was no lift before arrival. I would just expect better from a 5*

Great choice to stay for exploring the Cotswalds. It’s a former manor house converted to an elegant hotel and spa though there are some new rooms outside the main house. There is a lovely breakfast included. There are 2 restaurants on property but they have the same menu. Other food options are 10-15 minutes away. Our room was good sized with huge bathroom but rooms in the main house are varied from smaller to larger than ours. Staff was attentive. Fun to talk to other guests who come from near and far.

From arrival & pulling up in front of the beautiful grand house, full of old world charm, to checking in to our well appointed junior suite, the staff were attentive & polite, the food was delicious, locally sourced & served with attention to detail. The bar provided a fantastic selection of food & drinks & Champagne seemed to be the order of the day, we even tried a pint of Clarkson's local brew. Set in its own well kept grounds over looking Cheltenham racecourse, which was only a short walk though beautiful countryside, we felt a sense of tranquility & relaxation. With a lovely heated outdoor pool & entertainment areas, our stay never felt over crowded. After our 2 night stay we felt refreshed, having been well attended to by the staff. Very unique property and lovely setting ... as a historical property, they have done a nice job of combining the comforts of modern amenities while keeping within their historical requirements. Service was slightly below average, with some well-trained staff and others going through the motions. We stayed in the Lodge and we experienced a few issues.

Absolutely beautiful hotel grounds with good and relaxing vibes! The swing at the garden is a place you shouldn’t miss, the view is gorgeous indeed! I’m staying with kids and surprisingly they enjoyed the stay a lot! Staff are wonderful, polite and helpful, thank you Grace and John at the reception who made our stay even more memorable! Will definitely recommend this place and I hope I’d be back again one day!!

Fundamental bones of the hotel are excellent, beautiful buildings and stunning views. However, the shocking level of service really brings this hotel down. - sulky reception staff - lots of staff working, with everything taking an age to arrive - waiting at the bar for 15 minutes before a member of staff arrived - food took over an hour to arrive - had to sit in the overspill area for breakfast, which didn’t have the same experience for breakfast and meant a walk through the reception to bring food back and forth - check in took over 30 minutes and 20 minutes queue for check out - spa and gym amenities do not open until 1020, which frankly is utterly ridiculous for a 5 star hotel. People like to exercise before having breakfast and is often the busiest time for hotel gyms - laughable that service was applied to every order e.g 20% on top for each cocktail after having the luxury of waiting an age to arrive - staff wouldn’t clean our table, they would come and collect a single plate and then not return for 15mins when they collected another plate when four of us were eating. - coffees at breakfast were ordered and then forgotten. When the staff noticed they just they would put another order through but no apologies

We really enjoyed our stay. The room and food was lovely. The spa is quite small but nice. The only thing I would say is there were dirty cups and plates around the pool area and the service in the evening was very slow.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location. Let down by customer service and things like a broken shower head in the room and jets in the spa hot tub not working. Customer servicewise, the receptionist couldnt crack a smile, our coffees were forgotten at breakfast two days in a row and when we thought we were getting some good customer service we got charged for it! (The restaurant heard us talking about it being our mini moon and brought over two glasses of champagne which werent requested by us but then they added them to our bill!)

TLDR. Picturesque stately home, with warm, friendly service with quintessential British charm. If you're looking for a Cotswolds hotel, without the trappings of influencers (SoHo Farmhouse), or breaking the bank (Manor Estelle), this is for you. It's Cotswolds without any of the attitude you'll get at other hotels, with warm, welcoming service. There are lovely touches like the boot and jacket lending service, the dog 'spa' and the main room with its Tudor-style furnishings. This is a place for folks going outdoors, or families. The spa and pool are small, so it's less the 'spend the day at the hotel' property but a place to really go explore the countryside. The rooms are fairly modern but nothing remarkable. This is more historical, cozy than luxe. Likewise the service is warm, friendly but does not have the polish of a Belmond or top-calibre hotel but at the price-point is still very solid. Breakfast if it's an option to include is worth it, with a generous spread. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything as good nearby.

The spa and pool were highlights. The food was good but a little below what we have had at other 5* hotels. Puddings were superb though. The service from staff was generally pretty good and all together an enjoyable stay.

Lovely stay. The room and hotel facilities are great, the food was fantastic, the cocktails were not great, quite pricey but had a lovely time.

The 'Spa' was fairly limited with just a hot tub, sauna, steam room and 6 beds. Based on this, i wouldn't say it's a spa hotel, just a hotel with a small spa add-on. Its was great weather which meant there weren't enough beds by the outdoor heated pool so there wasnt really anywhere for us to go. The treatments were good, but I think overpriced. The restaurant was not good at catering to my food intollerances, even serving me food which contained my intollerances by mistake. They didn't have much they could adapt on the menu which was disappointing. I think the staff could have been more attentive, and they didn't seem that knowledgable about what was available (except the spa staff who were great).

Great choice to stay for exploring the Cotswalds. It’s a former manor house converted to an elegant hotel and spa though there are some new rooms outside the main house. There is a lovely breakfast included. There are 2 restaurants on property but they have the same menu. Other food options are 10-15 minutes away. Our room was good sized with huge bathroom but rooms in the main house are varied from smaller to larger than ours. Staff was attentive. Fun to talk to other guests who come from near and far.

Room was lovely, hotel was great but the air con unit in our room made an absolute racket all night which left us with no sleep. reported to reception on check out and have attempted communication with the hotel since via messaging on the hotels.com website with no reply!

Ved indtjekning var de meget hjælpsomme med at efterkomme vores ønske om hotelværelse i hovedbygningen, hvor vi tidligere har overnattet.. Dejligt sted at genbesøge. Hyggelig restaurant og god opvarmet pool.

This hotel is beautiful and well kept. Our room was very spacious for a family of 4, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The pool area is lovely and the friendly staff left the pool open in order to give our children time to swim after a late check in. Our room was in a newer building, and very comfortable. Food was delicious in every restaurant, there were a few fruit flies around, but the place was clean. Would love to return.

The hotel is beautiful, the perfect setting for a wonderful escape. The rooms were good sizes and clean with all the amenities in them for your stay. The reception staff were dismissive. We arrived 45 minutes before checking in time and asked if they could let us know when our room was ready if we waited next door to reception, no apparently. When people started passing us with their room keys we asked when ours would be ready and was reminded check in time would be at 3. At 3pm we were excited to get our key and head to the outdoor pool to enjoy the glorious weather. However, sun loungers were first come first served and these were all taken by day spa guests by the time we checked in so the pool we booked the hotel for was not usable. Then on to dinner. Our order was taken but the waiting team were distracted by the bar team so after 45 minutes I checked that they had indeed put our order into the system and they hadn’t so we reordered and waited for our food. It’s so disappointing that this amazing hotel is let down by its staff and its policies as it ruined our experience
