Stayed 2 nights

Deep dissatisfaction with our stay at Yacht Club Inn in Santa Barbara1. No response from local property management for an urgent and dangerous situation. The code for the lock did not work, nor were we told that it was for the rear door lock. When we returned from dinner, we could NOT get in. We stayed outside for close to an hour in 52 degree weather talking to your night customer service to no avail. We had children with us, including a 4 month old baby and we waited out in the cold to get in. We even called “911” per instructions and the dispatcher said, they could not help us. The police would not break down the door per the law. We finally got in through a loose screen and was able to open the window. My little granddaughter climbed in and opened the door for us.2. The 1st floor of the house is not heated. I stayed in the downstairs bedroom and it was extremely cold. Portable heaters were provided but it blew the circuit on the 1st floor. We reset the breaker 3 times. I finally slept with my jacket on. I had no power in the room. I could not use my CPAP machine to help regulate my breathing, I could not charge my phone nor my Apple Watch in the room. 3. On night 2, the TV remote didn’t work. It wasn’t a depleted battery but a bad remote. 4. In addition, the temperature situation on the 1st floor was not resolved and I slept with my jacket on 2 nights in a row.

The house location to the beach and restaurants was perfect. My family of 9 stayed there comfortably and were able to cook, visit and share meals. The house was clean but the bathrooms were a little worn. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Starting on the positive side, it’s a very handy location. No ocean view but the walk to the beach is extremely short and there is a small grocery/produce store also very close. The house has a lot of charm and a spacious front gathering room. On the negative side I’m gonna start with the industrial kitchen. It was pitched as a selling point and then you get there and there’s an old message attached to the stove/oven that says the left side doesn’t work. The griddle on top was inoperable also. So basically all you have is 1/2 of it that works and that’s just like having a small oven. My family and I we’re looking forward to using the larger side for pizza and the griddle for pancakes. There are notes throughout the house regarding the gas smell from the kitchen. They do have a hood over the stove that mitigates that but my thinking is, if you’re going to have an oven that half of it doesn’t work (and it appears that it hasn’t worked for some time due to the older notes on the oven), why not just remove it and put something new in there and you get rid of both the gas smell and the inoperable parts of the oven. It rained and there is a fairly bad leak in the laundry room at the window. Water leaked down and fell off the windowsill and got on the laundry detergent and some of my luggage. It was on the same shelf, but no damage was done to my luggage, other than getting wet. There also was a leak on the front porch that was going all over the wicker furniture.
