Skeffington Arms Hotel

Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Im Zimmer waren die Handtücher als Figur geformt und es lag ein Betthupferl auf dem Kissen. Es war etwas hellhörig, die Aussicht eher mäßig und das Fenster konnte man nicht öffnen, weil vorm Fenster Abluftrohr aus der Küche war. Allgemein würde ich aber wieder dort übernachten.

Das Skeff, wie es genannt wird ist schon seit über 100 Jahren ein Pub und ein Hotel. Im Inneren hat es 6 Bars und eine Einrichtung aus dem letzten Jahrhundert. Alles in top gepflegten Zustand. Das Team ist super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich kann es allen nur empfehlen.

Sehr nette Begrüßung mit einem Prosecco zum Pferderennen Wochenende. Leider dadurch auch sehr voll und laut in Galway wie auch im Hotel. Blick aus dem Fenster in einen unansehnlichen Hinterhof. Bett war sehr ok, wie auch das gute irische Frühstück. Zum parken nebenan im Parkhaus gab es dann vom Hotel noch einen dicken Discount! Alles in allem empfehlenswert da City- und Hafennah.

We had booked a 13 hour bus trip to the Cliffs of Moher but got off in Galway and had booked a night at the Skeffington Arms Hotel. It's perfectly located for Shop Street, the main street in Galway. Also convenient distance to the walking paths along the River Corrib that divides the city on the way to Galway Cathedral and just a few minutes walk to the bus and train station. The staff were as everywhere in Galway and Dublin nice and helpful. Good rooms although the view of a tiny cavity at the back of the hotel was not great, but just a one night stay. We heard the music from the bar when we arrived at the hotel at midnight, but our room was far enough away from it that we were not disturbed. Breakfast includes hot options that the waiter takes your order for when you're seated. There should be information about that because we and many others we saw were very disappointed with the other breakfast options that was laid out, deducting a star. Maybe just a temporary problem as it was apparently a temporary room for breakfast when we were there in May 2026?
