Captains Quarters Inn

The location of this hotel was convenient, but overall the stay was pretty disappointing. Parking was the first issue—spaces are extremely tight. We drive a Silverado, and it was almost impossible to park without being on the line. Since we arrived at 1am, many cars were double-parked, so we had no choice but to do the same. The biggest concern was finding roaches in our first room (#205). We immediately notified the front desk, and to their credit, they apologized and moved us to another section of the hotel (#219). Thankfully, we didn’t see any more roaches after that. Breakfast was another letdown. The food itself was below average and the dining area was very messy. Every table we saw (6–7 of them) had crumbs or spills, and it looked like staff only cleaned up after breakfast hours ended. We had to wipe down our own table both mornings. On top of that, coffee was watered down and many items weren’t stocked. The only positives were the waffles, yogurt, and cereal. The final frustration was that they advertise on-site laundry and ice machines, but everything was out of service—the ice machine, washer, and dryer. This was especially inconvenient since we needed those amenities for a beach trip. Overall, between the roaches, messy breakfast, broken amenities, and parking situation, I can’t recommend this hotel and wouldn’t stay here again.

This was the 2nd time I have stayed at this motel in about a month. The 1st time, the pool was closed because of an equipment malfunction. On this visit, the pool was open but the water was very cloudy, and I didn't really want to get in it. When it is 92 degrees outside, it is very hot and people want to be able to use the pool. Hire a pool guy and get the pool going!

I loved the property location. I kept looking for ice in the machine but there was never any in there. Very limited parking. Very noisy when your room is on bottom and there is people in room above you. Next time will insist on upstairs room.

Great place to stay a weekend at. The room i had was comfortable and clean. I wish they would upgrade the complimentary soaps. They dried my skin out. I would have used mine but i had forgotten them in the car lol. All in all its a great place for a weekend. Food and surf shops close by and plenty of parking. Pool was small but nice as well.

Overall, we would stay here again. Just take a few things. First. Take a broom. Between the floors and the sand that somehow gets in you will want to sweep every day if not twice a day. Second. Beds are not that comfy. Wish I would have brought a blanket and better pillows. Third. Better toilet paper please, the thin stuff doesn’t cut it. Fourth. Parking can be tough depending on how many people are checked in. Fifth. People pick up after you dog!!!! Last, even though it isn’t managements fault the pool was closed. They were nice enough to let us use the sister pool at the Island hotel but the commute was a pain. Location is great. Staff was nice and even though it seemed fully booked, the place was quiet at night which was nice. Kids enjoyed making waffles for the free breakfast, so that was nice.

Stay was great. We have stayed there numerous time and always a comfort. We travel with boat and the parking lot accommodates us easily.

Was not able to check in until after 7 pm after driving with my 2 young children and confirming check in was at 4. Received no notice. I had to urge them to clean my room so we could check in otherwise I would have had to wait even longer. Pool was filthy and green and unusable. Would not recommend whatsoever.

The properties pool was not working at all!

Breakfast was not very good, waffles only. Fruit was spoiled. No milk for cereal. Coffee was cold. Had to request room cleaning and supplies for restroom. The only positive was the location on the Island was great. Pool had sand in bottom.

The parking was kinda squeezed in and I was not able to use the washer and dryer. The clerk there was able to accommodate me so that was very helpful.

Loved the property at first, clean, smelled like cleaning products, spacious. Then, in the evening the roaches came out. I was completely disgusted and was unable to sleep. Felt as if bugs were crawling on me in bed.

We had to checkout early as the room appeared to be clean but in the morning when we woke up and turned on the lights there was roaches everywhere. The A/C was also not working properly never staying there again.

I would highly recommend not even looking into this hotel. From the moment we checked in there were non-stop problems. We initially reserved a room months before our stay, when we checked in, we were given the wrong room. The lady at the front desk was trying her best to be accommodating and was able to find us an upgraded room for part of our stay. With traveling and the back and forth with the room, we dropped our bags and went to dinner. When we got back from dinner, we were able to do a once over of the room. At that point bed bugs were discovered in the master bedroom amongst other bugs through out the suite. We went back to the main office and to say the least, that is where the fun began. Despite it being a family vacation, we ended up staying in a different, much cleaner hotel down the street. The other rooms in our party seemed to be ok. For the next 3-4 days, we got the run around from various workers about getting a refund as we did not stay on premise for more than 30 minutes. Not to make this a drawn out review, but at the end of running around for over a week, being called a liar by several staff members despite have geo tagged and time stamped proof, trying to get a refund, i was told absolutely no refund would be granted. I tried reaching out to Expedia who sided with the property, i would recommend staying away from them as well. My only recourse was to file a dispute with my credit card company. The only thing this property has going for it is the location.

The only complaint that we have was that there was a lot of heavy mold, smell in the room, probably from some water damage and of course the coast. But everything else was great. Taking care of that mold smell from the leak in the bathroom would be perfect for our next trip

Check in is at 4pm. I waited over an hour for my room to be ready and it was still dirty. I don't think the floor has been mopped in years.

Our room was full of roaches at night.

Room floor was very dirty, water from kitchenette sink stunk like rotten eggs. Dead bugs on floor and ac stopped working in the middle of the night.

The shower had mold all over the ceiling and walls.

We found quite a few roaches running around and the sheets had weird looking stains on them

We’ve stayed twice.. the first time 2 weeks ago wasn’t too bad.. we had no towels in our room and had to go searching bc for someone to get towels and then they were stained and dirty. The breakfast was very… non existent.. waffles and stale bread.. this stay.. was so much worse.. our door would not close unless we slammed it shut ridiculously hard and then it wouldn’t lock properly.. and then we saw no less than 5 roaches in the room! And that wasn’t till the next day when we woke up. The ac didn’t work, the door to the restroom didn’t lock, the blowdryer didn’t work, and there was very low water pressure. I tried to give it a second chance and it was just worse. And the breakfast was still horrible! I can honestly say don’t stay here, even if your desperate!

No Hair dryer. Some lights did not work. no easy way to get to channel guide for TV. Ac noisy. Breakfast pretty minimal.

Had me moved 3x from room. First room no tv signal no phone and restroom door wouldn’t close cuz it was hitting toilet seat. 2nd room someone was still in there

Other than not being able to check in even a minute early, it was a great experience. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The room was also remarkably quiet, as you know hotels can sometimes not be the greatest when it comes to other guests.

Tv wasn’t working and bathroom was flooding due to small shower curtain. Need refund of money

It was a nice spot but the wall that was in the bathroom was cracked and some floor tiles. Getting woken up early due to the person above us stomping back and forth for over an hour. But it was clean, would stay again but maybe choose the second floor.

Property was average in condition but trash cans were overflowing when we first arrived. Main 2 complaints were no WiFi and the air conditioners are insanely loud. While running it’s white noise but when they start you first hear loud water draining noise then a very loud clunk like the front door was closed hard. Needless to say both wake you/startle you each time which is more than once an hour due to being on the Texas coast. Obviously not much sleep was had and zero restful sleep. If we go back in future, ear plugs will be a MUST.

The suite we got was very spacious and niver than i expected

Captain Quarter was a fantastic sanctuary to rest my weary head after a long journey. The customer service was exceptional, with attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. Every interaction felt warm and welcoming, making my stay truly memorable. I’m already looking forward to booking my next visit in the near future!

Cheryl is phenomenal! She goes above and beyond to accommodate her guests. I commend her for a job well done I've stayed here many times over the years and I must say she is the best office assistant manager I've met to date Most recent stay October 2024.

I had a bad experience at check in this would’ve been my second time staying here at this hotel so at check in i give them my name to check in basic hotel protocol the receptionist then proceeds to ask how many people are under the age of 21 which I was and one other person was but then there was an additional person that was over the age the receptionist then proceeded to tell me that there was a deposit which again I travelled before so it was not a big deal then she proceeded to tell me that it was a $250 deposit which is completely absurd I’ve stayed at hotels that would be classified as 4-5 star hotels and they have never charged me that much the deposit was more than what i would have spent on the room so I said okay yeah i’ll have to pass she then referred me to another hotel down the street which i had no problem with due to what i spent on the room at the other hotel was way cheaper than the deposit at captains again the hotel is very hospitable but i wish the $250 deposit was known before I drove to Port Aransas and I could’ve researched and exercised all options.

The receptionist who touched me was the worst, I had never touched a person like her, a lady with very short hair with glasses, yelling at me, check-in was at 4pm, I arrived at 5:30pm and it still wasn't ready, yelling at me, she asked me for my card to pay without the room being ready, it took her 10 minutes to check and she told me it's ready, I paid for the room, and the room was ready until 7pm, a very rude person, I don't know why. They have working there, I will never return to that hotel

This was a weekend getaway with the husband and the pups. The staff was very accommodating toward our dogs. When the A/C was acting weird, they dropped everything to come and fix it. It was a very pleasant trip.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I had made a reservation since February and was canceled due to a computer glitch on hotel end and NO ONE CALLED ME TO UPDATE so I found out the week before check in date because I called to verify and hotel receptionist was RUDE NO EMPATHY AND NO ACCOMMODATIONS WERE MADE!!!!! So we contacted Hotel.com which were awesome and accomated us with the best customer service!! DONT STAY AT CAPTIAN QUARTERS or they will cancel your reservation and they won’t care!!!!

They fired an employee who cancelled multiple people's reservations. The couple in front of us had theirs canceled without notice, or was canceled without notice and another couple had theirs canceled without notice. No cancelation confirmation sent to us, or orbitz. The lady at the front counter was yelling at me when i asked them questions and asked for the owner to contact us. She was extremely unprofessional, she lied to her boss on the phone, she lied to the orbitz rep etc... orbitz found us a better motel, closer to everything, pet friendly, family friendly and super professional, caring and polite staff! Go to America's Best Inn they are phenomenal!

We arrived at 2 PM. Was told we can't check in until 4. So we went to the beach. Came back at 4. 1 of our 2 rooms were ready. The other room wasn't ready until almost 6!! Was told they're short staffed. Our 1st night at this hotel was very hot!! The AC wasn't getting the room cool. Talked to front desk and they gave us another room. We had a kitchenette in the room. But hardly any utensils to cook with or pots and pans. We've been staying at this hotel for a few years when we visit the beach. But the last few times have been disappointed. We will be finding another place to stay when we visit the beach. We go to the beach like 5 or 6 times a year.

The staff was very accommodating, we loved the breakfast every morning! We will definitely come stay again!

Good place right near the ferry in port aransas. Parking is minimal at night so find your spot and stay in it. Rooms were clean, bed comfy, minimalistic. Room rate decent for area and time of year. Would stay again.

Location is great and near restaurants. This is a clean older motel with all the basic needs. Staff was new but very accommodating. Breakfast was mainly cereals and waffles. There are plenty of rentals on the island but most are more expensive. We found this motel to be of value for what we came for. We would stay here again primarily for the location to everything.

Hotel staff did not speak English very well at all and we're very difficult to understand and communicate with. The breakfast was a total disappointment, only a few stale bagels and toast, two waffle makers one of which was broken, and some fruit that had been there for several days. Breakfast not at all is advertised. Worst of all the smoke detector in my room was hanging by a wire and the room needed to be updated. I informed the clerk I was checking out a day early by letting them know 24 hours in advance. She said that they were still charge me for the room regardless. I would suggest a different hotel.

First time staying here. Worked out nicely. Building and grounds very nice and good price. Nice looking pool area but pool is smaller. Breakfast did not include oatmeal, maybe I missed it. No eggs or oranges, apples yes. Waffle mix just fair tasting. But location close to Marina and Robert’s Point Park, restaurants all within a mile. I’d stay there again.

No eggs, bacon or sausage. Breakfast???
