The Belmar Inn

The Belmar Inn is close to the beach and boardwalk. It's a charming older building with a great porch. The staff members were all very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was snug but quiet and clean. Conditions to be aware of: there's no dedicated parking, so finding a spot can be difficult. However, there is a loading area directly in front of the building. Also, there's no elevator, so you'll take the stairs to your room. All in all, it's a great place for a short stay at the beach.

Coffee & tea available. Huge lobby and deck for relaxation. Could use an elevator for taking bags to 3rd floor but otherwise very good.

If you’re able to climb steep stairs and willing to be patient parking on the street, it is a clean lovely old Inn with a fantastic front porch and only 5 houses from the beach!

It wasn't a particularly nice property (window AC unit that didn't get the room very cold, small shower, no elevator or parking, etc.) but it was affordable and very conveniently located. It was really nice to be able to be steps away from the beach.

Overall, this is a good budget stay. I would recommend curtains in the rooms. The direct sunlight that comes in through the flimsy blinds very early in the AM is blinding and disruptive. Also, there is no elevator so be ready to haul your luggage up flights of steps.

Not fancy, but clean and comfortable with very nice and helpful staff. There is no parking which was not good when arriving on a hot Sunday afternoon. I had to park 8 blocks away due to the beach crowd.

Great location, short walk to beach and boardwalk…perfect location. Cheery rooms, bathrooms are small but clean and all we need! Staff is very helpful and always pleasant. Large ice machine that’s always fully stocked with ice. Complimentary morning coffee and tea! Large front porch that’s very enjoyable. Rooms are quite and suitable for couples and families alike…

Clean,accomadating,unlimited coffee in lobby...convenient to beach....not too far from train....3 story walk up was tiring with luggage .

Older rooms, but they are clean...the one drawback was parking...I had to park 5 blocks away , granted summer at the beach is crowded but no onsite parking is an issue. Lynn was great checking in and out, very helpful!

Room we stayed in was a bit beat up, it smelled of mold. Went to turn on AC and noticed there was mold inside. Kept it off. Carpets in hallway needed to be vacuumed. Pushed room front door closed but wouldnt go in all the way, it did lock but stayed sticking out enough where when you came up the stairs from outside you can see a big bright light coming from the top going down to the bottom. No breakfast just coffee. But the area around was great and walking distance to the beach

This property is by far the worst place i have ever dealt with. The room I checked in to was uninhabitable due to a chemical odor. Within 5 minutes of entering the room my eyes were burning and tearing and my wife's throat was burning. The person that checked us in, came to the room and agreed that there was a strong odor and said is was spray used by the cleaning staff. I spoke to the manager by phone who said there were no other rooms available. I was forced to leave. I contacted Expedia about a refund and a day later they told me that it was a non refundable and I had to speak to the hotel. I called and Tom at the front desk said that the manager Brett was not available. I explained the situation with the room and I was told not to expect a refund. I asked to have the manager call me back and he said not to expect a call back. I asked if I called back if a call would be put through to him and I was told he would not answer the phone. Expedia was kind enough to provide a credit towards future travel.

A no frills decent place to stay along the beach. Nothing fancy. The room was clean.

Shoddy repairs all over the property, both inside room and along common areas of the property. Room entry card reader works sometimes. Bed/Mattress is very shot and uncomfortable. No curtains on windows, only blinds. The windows won't stay up, no screens in windows. All outlets in room short out when anything is connected to them (if phone was connected to charge, cable box would not work). Bathroom door couldn't be fully opened since bed was in the way. Coffee machine in lobby was dirty. Would not recommend.

The check-in and out were so easy and fast. The room was clean and nice. The staff were friendly. I really enjoyed my stay there and if I'm going to visit this area again, this hotel will be my choice.

I can see how this hotel would be amazing during the summer months. Very close to the beach, amazing location. Walkable to restaurants. Parking was ok because I was visiting in October but summer months I can see being difficult. There is an odor in the hotel, maybe a cleaner in the lobby? Unable to lift blinds to look out windows. A/c very old, black mold in vents. Someone on the floor cooked something at 3am and it stunk up the whole floor for hours, ventilation not good. Shower clean, bed ok enough.

Super friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is really cool. It's very basic. It's old but cool. Like an old school beach hotel. Nothing fancy but very well maintained and clean. Don't expect a fancy modern place. Just a very nice place to while the day away at the beautiful Jersey beach. The beach is about 100 yards away.

Location was good walkable distance to the beach and Main Street in Belmar. The place is definitely your basic accommodation I wouldn’t say it was the most comfortable stay I’ve ever had but luckily I only spent a night here and was out of the hotel most of the day & night was just a place to sleep. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and the shower had very little water pressure the showers at the nearby beach had better pressure than the one in my room. Saw a cockroach in my room as well. For the price the accommodation could have been better you are really only paying for the location and they are concerning the market on this. I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends but if you’re in a pinch or you need something close to the nearby attractions this will do.

The staff was amazing and helpful. The property is run down, needs drastic repairs. The rooms are large but smell musty even with the window a/c on. The bathroom is small with a small pedestal sink and tiny shower that doesn’t seem clean. The walls look like there have been numerous leaks that haven’t been to fixed correctly for a long time. Overall, a disappointment and won’t return.

Older property, suitable for a solo traveler who just wanted to be near the beach 1/2 a block to ocean Ave! The room was cleaner than most of the hotels I have stayed at recently and I truly appreciated the water bottles! The floors were kinda of warped which made for a rollercoaster getting to the bathroom. Overall nothing bad to say, would have liked a better coffee option though. The machine was having trouble and several people were waiting to use it.

Room was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was very loud, I had hard time watching TV at night.

The inn is two minutes from the beach which is wonderful. They offer breakfast on Sunday mornings which consisted of bagels and donuts which was a very nice surprise. The staff was very kind and answered any questions I had during my stay. The only downside is the noise level within the inn. If you're on the second floor you can hear people walking around above you while you try to sleep. You can hear the lobby below and people in the halls very easily which can make sleeping a little difficult if you're sensitive to noise. To get to the rooms the staircase is a little steep which may be difficult for older individuals.

Small room.Place is a little run down, cleanliness qestionable. No elevator. 3 floors. Staff was nice and helpful. Ice machine was a perk. We did not get dunkin coffee but there was a common area kurig we did not use. Cool front porch with seating. A block from the beach. Nice area, but more of a sleaside motel. For what you get slightly overpriced. Overall it is inhabitable.

Not happy about the $200 hold on my debit card still there long after the room was paid for and checked out. Couldn't check into my other hotel because of that. I asked the Belmar to release it, still waiting. Could have had a better room elsewhere for the price. AC unit in the room was ungodly loud. Bed was uncomfortable. TG it was only for one night. Don't ask about the steps to the upper floors.

Basic old hotel that has not been upgraded in 50 years. Nice porch for sitting. Ten foot ceilings. View of ocean is nice and you will get a sunrise. Corner rooms give extra window. Free coffee. Fridge in room. Lighting ok. Window A/C. People smoke on porch. Bathroom is 50 years old. Shower is corner euro model shoulder wide. Nearly every time I used the key, I needed to go back to front desk to have it redone, electronics card key. 3 floors, no elevator, steep stairs.

Only stayed one night. Front desk staff were very friendly. We booked a single “double” bed room and it was shockingly small. Main complaint would be that the air conditioner, which was a window unit, was very noisy. It’s clearly an old properly, which I was prepared for.

I don’t like that this app doesn’t tell u that the hotel we book requires another deposit once we get there. Then it’s not refundable to get your money back when u don’t want to stay there because of that fact. Another deposit. It should be known to customers on this app when we book and pay in full , that the place we booked requires another deposit for damages when the motel/horel be old looking and some times the furniture be already damaged. I didn’t like they wanted a hundred and fifty deposit after I paid the full amount to the rm on this site. A lot of people sometimes don’t have a deposit so what u just lose your money after u paid. I’m thinking about calling the BBB ON THESE COMPANIES

The only thing good was its in walking distance to the beach. Out of 3 days, 2 days the room keys did not work. The first night the girl gave us 2 different keys then we were never told someone would help us. Was sitting outside on the porch and we see the girl drive away? Wow what customer service. We had to find someone at the desk counter to come help us again, this was at 11pm. The 2nd night the keys did not work again, we got another set of keys, thank god that wasn’t as long a waiting time as the first night. Other patrons also had the same problem with keys. The room floor was slanted? Felt like I was still on the boat. Not only that when I pulled up my receipt to show the front desk person I see since I booked it a month ago the price went down $69. If I knew that I would have booked at the last minute. I asked if I could get it adjusted they said no. No?? Terrible!

I booked the wrong date for this hotel by mistake - I noticed and called within 10 minutes of the booking- the person told me that the manager was the only one that could chan ge the date of the reservation and i left my number & was told the manager would get back to me - I also immediately called Expedia I've been a Platinum memebr for more than 10 years - although in the begining there was only Gold members. Expedia called the hotel & told me they were waiting for the manager to call them back. EXPEDIA NEVER GOT BACK TO ME SO I CALLED THEM AGAIN! I had booked the room for the 27th but wanted the 20th easy mistake caught in 10 minutes. So stopped by the Hotel on the 21st and was told that DAVE the owner wasn't available - I left my number and explained the issue to the "front desk" person who assured me that he would give Dave the message. Well no response they stole my money and now I will make sure Dave is rewarded. As for Expedia their emails telling me they couldn't get in touch with the manaager to rectify, as far as I'm concerned is a lame excuse since in reality they represent that they are helpful to their customer. Also they have asked for this review - but Expedia doesn't even have the dates right It was check-in 27th not 26th like they show - Ichecked the email confirmation so I know I am right. Expedia may have lost a good customer & the hotel owner/manager should get what he deserves in the future.

We had a great stay at the Belmar inn. The staff was amazing and so friendly! They were so accommodating and made the trip. The location is also unbeatable less than a block from the beach! Will be coming back for sure.

This is a great property to stay if you plan on being out most of the day. It’s super close to the beach and walking distance to bars and restaurants. There is no parking so be prepared to search for street parking. Staff was very friendly and check-in was quick. The room is bare bones and the bathrooms can use an upgrade but overall it’s a decent place to rest after a long day of enjoying the beach and nightlife in Belmar.

We enjoyed the fact that they are very close to the beach (1 block and a half away). Restaurants are within walking distance. This time our room was on the 3rd floor so that was a downer. We prefer the 1st floor. Overall we always enjoy dusting at the Belmar Inn.

The Belmar Inn is run by kind folks. The walls are solid enough that it is a quiet and pleasant stay. It is nothing fancy and you get what you get.

Lynn at the front desk is an angel, she was so sweet and helpful. It's not the Ritz, but we stayed one night to see a show at the Stone Pony. Clean room, friendly staff, free bagels and donuts in the morning, and a nice big porch to relax on.

This place was just what i was looking for. Safe, close to the beach in a nice neighborhood, friendly staff. It's not fancy, and the bed wasn't the most comfortable, but there were nice touches like a fan in the bathroom and 2 fresh bottles of water, a fridge, and they had left the AC on for us on a hot day. Also the room was cheerily painted in 2 colors, and there were fresh bagels, donuts, and coffee in the morning, and a BEAUTIFUL front porch on which to sit.

Very close to beach! Would stay again. Older hotel but was very clean and they had awesome bagels and donuts for breakfast. Parking is free but sometimes you have to park two blocks away, and there is not an elevator. Also keep in mind you can't get on the beach unless you pre-pay with a credit card, which we were not aware of.
