The hotel reception was closed even though it advertised 24 hour service. The onsite restaurant closed and not just the day we arrived so that was misleading as it looked like its been closed for months.

There was a table and chairs right outside the room with an overflowing ashtray on the table. The shower could've been cleaner. The restaurant attached to the accommodation was closed and looked like it had been for some time. This was not reflected on the website where it clearly says the restaurant was open. No way it deserves any more than 2 stars. Right next door is a closed pub as well.

Your description of the property states that is adjoining the Southern Cross Resort with dining and bar facilities. This was the main reason for choosing Desert Sand. The Southern Cross Resort has been closed for some years. Very disappointed

No sign of free welcome drink as indicated in confirmation information. No designated parking, motel full of large 4 wheel drive vehicles parked without thought (perhaps under no direction from management to be aware of space), some with trailers parked separately. No ventilation fan in bathroom, thus everything was dripping after 2 showers. On first floor - bottom step of stairs would not pass safety check. Positive point, much quieter than expected even though room was near main road.

Advertised as pet friendly on Wotif. Sign on door say “strictly no pets”. Unhelpful offsite reception. No designated parking. Noisy. Dirty sheets with stains, disgusting mattress with stains and Punic hair in the seems and evidence of bed bug infestation - I’m not a pest expert but black staining in the seems with eggs and shells is pretty convincing. Spoke to the hotel and was told they couldn’t help “because I’m offsite and have no access to the computer”. I left. Still waiting for a refund. I wonder if I’ll get it! Avoid this hotel!!

A stayed in one of their basic rooms and was impressed by the cleanliness. The room was a bit dated (I did go for the basic room) but had all the essentials present and was well looked after. Would readily stay there again.

Old motel however the room was very clean and provided plenty of toiletries and a great shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Cleaning staff were very nice and helpful. It was in a good location and you could walk to shops and clubs if you wanted to.

There was no fly screen on the bathroom window, the back of the front door and frame was dirty., there were too many cockroaches in the room, and we only saw a staff member once and that's when we went for a swim. I think the air conditioner has seen better days.

At check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to have been given an upgrade to a King-bed room with blockout shutters. The room was excellent, clean, spacious and had everything we could need. The bed was very comfortable and, with the benefit of the blockout shutters, the room had very little light overnight, ensuring we enjoyed an undisturbed good night’s sleep.

The room was very poor standard for the price. Pillows were old, smelly and not comfortable. Smoke detector not connected. Air conditioner did not work. No screen on the bathroom window and the list goes on.

Great location, easy walk to the Main Street. The rooms were clean and tidy, but a little dated. The carpets and curtains were showing their age, with a bit of wear and tear, and could be replaced. We would be happy to stay there again.

Really dated, outdone areas untidy but the big problem was that there the smoke alarm in our room had been disarmed and would not have worked if needed, I attempted to speak to staff prior to leaving but rhe office was unattended.

Cleaning staff were helpful when they were there.shops, hotels, restuarants close by. Aircon ok although the aircon unit was in need of straightning! Room not so good. Televission picture continual poor reception. only curtain in poor condition with curtain parts off the track, desk had a broken drawer. During our stay there was nobody in attendace 9am to 5pm at reception, only a mobile number. We appreciated our stay included christmas day and boxing day however not to meet your hosts at all was unusual.

The hotel reception was closed even though it advertised 24 hour service. The onsite restaurant closed and not just the day we arrived so that was misleading as it looked like its been closed for months.

There was a table and chairs right outside the room with an overflowing ashtray on the table. The shower could've been cleaner. The restaurant attached to the accommodation was closed and looked like it had been for some time. This was not reflected on the website where it clearly says the restaurant was open. No way it deserves any more than 2 stars. Right next door is a closed pub as well.

Your description of the property states that is adjoining the Southern Cross Resort with dining and bar facilities. This was the main reason for choosing Desert Sand. The Southern Cross Resort has been closed for some years. Very disappointed

No sign of free welcome drink as indicated in confirmation information. No designated parking, motel full of large 4 wheel drive vehicles parked without thought (perhaps under no direction from management to be aware of space), some with trailers parked separately. No ventilation fan in bathroom, thus everything was dripping after 2 showers. On first floor - bottom step of stairs would not pass safety check. Positive point, much quieter than expected even though room was near main road.

We enjoyed our stay at the Desert Sands Motel. We received a code for our door to unlock door so didn’t need a key. We had the spa room which was clean and large two person spa. Was close to city centre and Sturt Club which had great meals. Air conditioning kept room at good temperature. Had a microwave bowls plates etc in room, tea coffee, kettle and fridge. The shower had shampoo, conditioner and body wash wall containers and basin had handwashing and body lotion. Would definitely stay again

Cleaning staff were helpful when they were there.shops, hotels, restuarants close by. Aircon ok although the aircon unit was in need of straightning! Room not so good. Televission picture continual poor reception. only curtain in poor condition with curtain parts off the track, desk had a broken drawer. During our stay there was nobody in attendace 9am to 5pm at reception, only a mobile number. We appreciated our stay included christmas day and boxing day however not to meet your hosts at all was unusual.
