Both the building and the furnishings have personality, rather than the every-room-is-the-same style of larger hotels, and that character is also topped off with a mini-split AC, a good-sized mini-fridge, and a nicer Keurig than I usually see in hotels. The location is also spectacular, just across a small greenspace from the iconic Chateau Frontenac, within a few minutes' walk of a lot of great places to eat and enjoy touristy wandering. The parking situation is where our review is a bit more mixed. There is no on-site parking (fair enough considering the location), but the hotel has a deal with a nearby church (a 4-min walk) to offer spots in their parking lot. The parking cost is $25 CAD per night, and we also paid a refundable $20 CAD deposit to take a key that can unlock the gate in front of the church's parking lot if need be (which did come in handy one day). One issue was that one of the roads to reach the parking lot was closed for a certain portion of each day for reasons that were unclear to us, and we had to keep taking a detour to return the car, which involved having to stop at blocked roads and ask the attendant to let us through. Another issue we had was that the church lot has specific spaces marked for Manoir sur le Cap guests, and they were all full a few of the times we went to park. We eventually figured out it was fine to use any other spot, as long as we showed the Manoir card in our dash, but we were confused and worried for a bit before we got that.

Never having been to Quebec City, I think we hit the Jack Pot with Manoir Sur la Cap. Perfectly located in the most picturesque location. The hotel is next to a grassy shaded park with a close view of the river and the Le Château Frontenac. Parking was excellent. (We showed up at the hotel, and they gave us directions for parking in an authorized parking lot two blocks away. We paid $25 a day for parking.) We felt safe and the staff was very helpful with suggestions for dining. This is an old house with all kinds of charm. No elevator, but was not a big deal for us. Great place, we will definitely come back! Thank you!
