Quirky house & very quiet. Struggled to find it as parking was on a different road at the back. I think was supposed to be a shared bathroom but found a newly installed one in the room. Apart from not being able to get the shower warm enough all good 😊

The rooms were really pretty and the host was accomodating. I absolutely loved my stay in Cornerstones and i would highly recommend it to anyone. Breakfast was also tasty. The only downside is having to carry your luggage upstairs. There is no lift.

Outstanding, from the moment i pulled up to the moment i left, the whole experience was fantastic. Arrived an hr before check in,Tony welcomed me and allowed me to check in. Booked room No 2 with en-suite. Loved the room, modern touches within a victorian shell. Room was spacious, clean & warm Even tho its located on a busy main road, you couldn't hear any traffic. Free parking located at the rear, access via garden at side of property to the front. Town centre a short walk away, with multiple stores,pubs & restaurants. Fully recommend the stay.

This property was perfect for our needs, working at a conference in the city. We arrived 9pm and left early both days, so just needed a place to sleep. Private carpark round the rear of property. Close to metro (tram) stop and an easy 20 minutes by car from the city centre (less for Salford Quays or Old Trafford). Apart from check-in we never saw anyone during our weekend stay. Host was contactable by mobile if we needed (which we didn't). Self service breakfast provided (cereals) as under new management so the kitchen was not up and running for serving breakfast. Totally silent at night, so we slept really well. Comfortable temperature all night on a very stormy wet weekend. Would definitely stay again if working an event in Manchester.

I cannot praise this stay enough, from our welcome from Tony, the lovely clean and comfortable room, the breakfast.... everything was excellent. The decor and cleanliness of the whole hotel was superb. One tip - Parking entry is not from main road but Harboro Road Many thanks Tony

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I feel compelled to in this case to help maintain standards. This property currently holds a 9.4 rating on the site—possibly the highest-rated place I’ve ever booked. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that score. The property was in poor condition. The entrance was a mess, with what appeared to be weeks' worth of mail piled behind the door. There was no lighting upon arrival, which made the first impression even worse. The room had a strong, unpleasant odour that I couldn’t quite identify so much so I expected my clothes to smell of it this was despite leaving the window fully open for hours. The shower didn’t work properly in fact was useless. The carpets were stained and looked extremely grubby, which added to the overall sense of neglect and lack of cleanliness. There was barely any toilet roll but there was half used bottles of toiletries, soap and creams etc. All in all, it was a very disappointing stay and certainly did not live up to the high rating it has received. Again if this had a score 6 I would not be writing this but it was 9.4. How it's managed this I have no idea. I can only imagine that the previous reviews and scores are manipulated. The property itself is great and in a great location with parking but they need to up their game to justify such a high score.

I stayed for 4 nights; the price was similar to a chain hotel but a much nicer experience. Tony was a very welcoming and helpful host, the room was beautifully decorated and I would also highly recommend the breakfast. If driving just bear in mind that the car park is not accessed off Washway Road but via A6144 then Harboro Road (there's plenty of space once you've found it)

Stayed at the Cornerstone for 2 nights for the Ashes Cricket at Olt Trafford. Really well located hotel with plenty of parking and less than 10 mins to the local tram stop. The guesthouse was excellent with a very large rooms and well presented throughout. If im ever in Manchester again we will definitely be staying here.

A very good stay, the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was clean and had natural ventilation, the bed was comfortable. The guest house was close to the centre of Sale and was easy to get to the bars and restaurants. We would recommend staying there and if we come back to Sale we would stay here again

Cornerstones is a lovely place to stay. The whole house is beautifully decorated in a very attractive style and I thought my room was extremely glam. Very clean and comfortable too and the shower robe was a welcome touch in my room. The purpose of my stay was to attend a 4-day conference at Manchester Metropolitan University and I used the 263 bus to travel into the city - the bus stops right outside the door and was only £2 each way!
Cornerstones is a lovely place to stay. The whole house is beautifully decorated in a very attractive style and I thought my room was extremely glam. Very clean and comfortable too and the shower robe was a welcome touch in my room. I stayed in room 3. Car park was difficult to find when tired and received no instructions it was round the back off other roads.Unusual set up place not staffed so key in a locked box. Cons: Place very tired and in desperate need of renovations. My room itself was weird with weird origami swans glued to wall, rubbish down the radiator. Lights in bathroom only one worked and there are bathroom rugs covering the fact the floor wasn’t tiles on one half and it’s only concrete board. The shower had tikes held up with tape and the shower basin creaked when you stood on it. Weird collection of used toiletries left in the bathroom. Decor tired and damaged. Pros: responsive when I asked for milk as was only left 2 Great steady WiFi connection and a large TV. Great location. Overall would not stay in that room again others did look a lot better on the pictures but had sold out by the time I booked.

When entering the hotel we were quite disappointed with what we found. The room was not up to standards. The room does not look remotely like any of the photos listed, and it also has a horrible smell of stale cigarettes. The duvet had no cover over it, and there were crumbs and stains over the duvet and pillows. The whole room looked like it had not been cleaned for a long time, with dust caked on the floor under the chairs. The rug on the floor was so dirty, and so were the decorative pillows on the bed, This place looks good in the photos online, with good reviews, but it now looks rundown

Lovely little gem. Host was the perfect balnce of attentive but not overbearing. Room was beautiful and bed was comfy. I would definitely stay again!

Room was tired but clean. Arrival instructions could have been clearer as I was sent a code but not a room number but this was quickly rectified by calling. This facility is NOT STAFFED at night, which I didn’t realise when I booked. Lots of people seemed to be talking in the stairwell through the night including a visit from police.

OK, so this isn't a hotel, it may have been previously but its not anymore, you get the key from the key box (I had to call to get the code, the person on the end of the phone was super helpful) then head in, its tired, very tired, I had the deluxe room and I am not sure what was deluxe about it, the room is dated, the TV is the smallest I have ever seen and was resting on some books, feels like a bedsit and feels very unloved, would I stay again, No.

It was a lovely stay. The area is quiet and close (5-10 minutes walk) to Brooklands tram stop and a few minutes walk from shops and cafes. The area is also safe at night. The hotel owner/manager/staff are extremely friendly and kind and generous. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The shower was good and spacious. The toilet was a little cramped between the wall and the shower but otherwise the bathroom was fine. The room heating worked well. The room was cozy with carpeting and a rug. The mattress was comfortable. The TV was easy to use. There were two comfortable chairs in front of the TV and I had coffee, tea and a kettle in the room. Overall, I was very happy with the stay, the cleanliness and the service.

The mattress was comfortable. The TV was easy to use. There were two comfortable chairs in front of the TV and I had coffee, tea and a kettle in the room. Overall, I was very happy with the stay, the cleanliness and the service.

I visited this guesthouse a few years ago and guess it now has different owners and the star system reflects how it used to be and not how it is now. The room I stayed in was very basic, with walls and table tops covered in cork tiles. To be fair this was a compact room and it was shown as this in the photo. No bedside light, no hairdryer, a kettle where the cord just reached the plug and you had to unplug it to pour out (with your head next to the boiled kettle as you bend down). With no apparent staffing I felt uncomfortable as a solo female. I slept ok though and the location is great if you are happy with basic.

Cornerstones is a lovely place to stay. The whole house is beautifully decorated in a very attractive style and I thought my room was extremely glam. Very clean and comfortable too and the shower robe was a welcome touch in my room. The purpose of my stay was to attend a 4-day conference at Manchester Metropolitan University and I used the 263 bus to travel into the city - the bus stops right outside the door and was only £2 each way!

Stayed at the Cornerstone for 2 nights for the Ashes Cricket at Olt Trafford. Really well located hotel with plenty of parking and less than 10 mins to the local tram stop. The guesthouse was excellent with a very large rooms and well presented throughout. If im ever in Manchester again we will definitely be staying here.

Tony is an amazing host.As soon as he ooens the door his experience,expertise and genuine warmth and care for the guest comes across. The place is great,a breath of fresh air ,filled subtly with nuisances and details, elegant choice of music (Edith Piaf,Jazz, to name a few). Fantastic breakfast cooked to perfection. The place is impeccably clean and well equipped,the bedroom bright,airy,impeccably clean. Very comfortable bed. One of rare places where the extra sheet is placed as an underlayer for the duvet. Beautiful well maintained garden. I travel a lot due to my work and this is one of the best places I have stayed. Run with genuine warmth,empathy and interest for the guests to accommodate their needs in the best possible way. Very close to transport means, the airport but also to the central area of Manchester and the local eateries. Thank you for your hospitality,Tony and all the best :)

Room was tired but clean. Arrival instructions could have been clearer as I was sent a code but not a room number but this was quickly rectified by calling. This facility is NOT STAFFED at night, which I didn’t realise when I booked. Lots of people seemed to be talking in the stairwell through the night including a visit from police.

Outstanding, from the moment i pulled up to the moment i left, the whole experience was fantastic. Arrived an hr before check in,Tony welcomed me and allowed me to check in. Booked room No 2 with en-suite. Loved the room, modern touches within a victorian shell. Room was spacious, clean & warm Even tho its located on a busy main road, you couldn't hear any traffic. Free parking located at the rear, access via garden at side of property to the front. Town centre a short walk away, with multiple stores,pubs & restaurants. Fully recommend the stay.

I have been to many hotels/guesthouses and I make sure they are 4 star minimum. I fail to understand how this is a 4 star accommodation. I booked for 2 nights, I entered the building to check in and rules were being told to me. ‘You cannot eat fast food in your room we ask you kindly to eat in the cafe where cutlery is provided’… very unusual for a 4 star not to let you eat in your room. Now the room, it had a runner on top for show but on closer inspection it felt like it had it’s been used a few times unwashed from the looks. The en suite the washroom smelt AWFUL gutter smell ..DISGUSTING. So now here comes the most serious and unprofessional part. Check out time was 10.30am. My wife and I were staying in the accommodation, I was showering and the owner knocked on 10.30 sharp at the door, my wife opened whilst I was in the shower and he tapped his watch and said time to check out. My wife said just a moment, I came out at 10.40 and then the owner knocked on the door and was shouting you are 15 minutes overtime and knocking on the door saying time to leave. My wife opened the door just to say we are closing bags and leaving he was force opening the door and said let me see and my wife was preventing him coming. 15 mins later he comes again storms in and says time to leave and lifts a hand luggage out of the room and being shouted out LEAVE and being tagged as IRRESPONSIBLE’ I was shocked, It felt like the owner was letting me live for free and now kicking me out! V.BAD

Quirky house & very quiet. Struggled to find it as parking was on a different road at the back. I think was supposed to be a shared bathroom but found a newly installed one in the room. Apart from not being able to get the shower warm enough all good 😊

This property was perfect for our needs, working at a conference in the city. We arrived 9pm and left early both days, so just needed a place to sleep. Private carpark round the rear of property. Close to metro (tram) stop and an easy 20 minutes by car from the city centre (less for Salford Quays or Old Trafford). Apart from check-in we never saw anyone during our weekend stay. Host was contactable by mobile if we needed (which we didn't). Self service breakfast provided (cereals) as under new management so the kitchen was not up and running for serving breakfast. Totally silent at night, so we slept really well. Comfortable temperature all night on a very stormy wet weekend. Would definitely stay again if working an event in Manchester.

A charming b&b, friendly and welcoming. Lovely and warm despite the cold weather outside! The room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. A short stroll from Brooklands Metrolink stop and an easy 10 min walk into Sale. We look forward to staying again in the future.

It was a lovely stay. The area is quiet and close (5-10 minutes walk) to Brooklands tram stop and a few minutes walk from shops and cafes. The area is also safe at night. The hotel owner/manager/staff are extremely friendly and kind and generous. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The shower was good and spacious. The toilet was a little cramped between the wall and the shower but otherwise the bathroom was fine. The room heating worked well. The room was cozy with carpeting and a rug. A very good stay, the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was clean and had natural ventilation, the bed was comfortable. The guest house was close to the centre of Sale and was easy to get to the bars and restaurants. We would recommend staying there and if we come back to Sale we would stay here again

I stayed for 4 nights; the price was similar to a chain hotel but a much nicer experience. Tony was a very welcoming and helpful host, the room was beautifully decorated and I would also highly recommend the breakfast. If driving just bear in mind that the car park is not accessed off Washway Road but via A6144 then Harboro Road (there's plenty of space once you've found it)

We had such a pleasant stay at the Cornerstones Guest House. The house was fabulous and the room beautiful and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful with information about local transport and how to save money on metro tickets. The breakfast food was first class. The whole experience was just a joy and less than half the price of staying in the city at the weekend. I would highly recommend it!

Very friendly and accommodating host.Clean comfortable room and property. Shower did not work but he allowed me to use the bath and replaced it next day and did not charge for one day breakfast. Full tasty breakfast was more than enough . Next to bus stop.Short walk to metrolink at brooklands and along canal to sale.

I chose this location for two reasons - firstly because of the proximity of the metro (I was heading to Old Trafford on Saturday for the cricket and wanted to stop off at Stretford parkrun first) and secondly because the cost was so reasonable. Check-in/out was confusing and I had to phone someone (who didn't pick up) before being texted a code for the lockbox. I had two different requests on checkout - one to leave the key in the room and the other to put it back in the lockbox so had to message again for confirmation. My room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was clean with plenty hot water. There was a kettle with tea & coffee. The inside of the building is a bit run-down - the carpets could do with being replaced and some of the furniture (pull-out bed/couch in my room) has seen better days. But for what I was after it was fine.

None of the electric sockets worked for my whole stay! I couldn't have a hot drink, watch TV or charge my phone. The lighting was ok, so it was not due to a power cut. Self check in would work better if they actually let you know which room number you have. Shower is very weak. Positives are free parking, proximity to tram station.
