Hotel Ocho

We enjoyed a beautiful Fire Escape which was highly cluttered with broken chairs and was narrow in many sections. This was due to a wedding that was scheduled taking up the entire lobby. The hotel has no designated event space and guests were advised to not use any shared amenities due to the booked wedding. Luckily we had dropped our bags off earlier in the day before check in where we were first notified of this. Staff told us that we couldn’t enter the lobby after 5pm (earliest check in was at 4pm). Staff was kind enough to let us check in a whole 15 minutes early for the convenience and provided us with the fire escape key. At one point we tried to locate ice, we tried contacting the front desk but the phones were on do not disturb. After 10 mins of waiting, we went downstairs where the wedding reception was still in full force at 11pm. Staff helped us in getting the ice where they then told us the phones were turned off to not disturb the wedding (keep in mind guests were dancing and the music could be heard throughout the entire hotel). When our concerns were brought up to staff, we were advised to email management. Before booking with this hotel, call them and confirm they have no events going on as there is no designated event space and other guests will not have access to any of the facilities or amenities. Hotel has no wheelchair access. On a positive, the hotel was located in a great location and is very accessible to the transit systems.

The hotel is in a convenient location. The area to check in was very tight and directly outside of an elevator which made it crammed with luggage. When we arrived we were told we could not use the restaurant or bar as there was a wedding taking place. We also could not access the elevator in the evening because of the wedding so we had to take stairs which was difficult. The hotel at night was VERY loud until Well after midnight with the dj blasting music and people gathering in the hall laughing and talking. The AC in the room did not work properly and was extremely loud. The best thing about the hotel was location and it was clean . We would possibly stay again as a last resort.

The location is great, within walking distance to cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as being right on the public transit line. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering baggage storage and even an upgrade to a larger suite without having to request one. The restaurant pasta dishes were delicious and in good portions, not overpriced. There was a nice area in the mezzanine to lounge and do some work, as well.

No bathroom door, so no intimacy. Screws sticking out of the rug at random places. Creepy elevator. The reception is under a staircase and if someone is checking in, you have to wait to use the elevator because there is not enough room. The door is locked after midnight, so you have to knock and wait for someone to come... and many many more annoyances.

Very small.. no parking on site.

Great walkable neighbourhood, hotel bar and patio is a good bonus. Some facilities seemed a little house flip-esq

Nice cheap place to stay and great location! The bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. The bathroom door didn’t close properly, and to enter after midnight you need to knock on the door and wait outside for a staff to let you in. Otherwise though, would definitely recommend for someone passing through the city!

Parking can be a problem

The staff are very friendly. We ate at the restaurant and it was awesome. The room was clean and comfortable. It's an older building with lots of character.

I liked the quick and easy check in. The parking is annoying to find, but it’s do-able. I loved the bathroom and the shower was super nice.

The check in process was quick and straightforward, the staff was friendly. The industrial design of the room was nice. Only issues were the bathroom did not appear to be properly cleaned; the smaller shower head had black and grey gunk all over the nozzles, there was pink bacteria on the floor in the shower, and there was a cobweb walking into the bathroom itself.

Your carpet stinks

Fridge not working and mold in it, last night of stay there was a lot of noise, air conditioner very loud, mattress worn down, no wifi for 1 day. Overpriced for what it is.

When I entered the room, there was a strange chemical odor. It had disappeared when I returned a couple of hours later.

It was a strange room. The room and hallway stunk bad! The one staff was friendly and one was rude and unfriendly.

This a place that you choose when you simply need somewhere to crash. They dont have full sheet sets on their beds. And the shower in room 35 was very dirty with mold, mildew, and very dirty grout lines. Shower heads are rusty and dirty and need to be replaced

We a cool little place. Nothing fancy but a great vibe and good location. Unfortunately there was a extremely strong chemical cleaning type smell that was very distracting and would get irritating every few minutes… too bad other than that not too bad.

There was some water damage in the room and a bit of a musty smell. Room was super super dry! Bed in the middle of the room was weird

Location is nice but heating system was very load and had hard time sleeping.

The heater’s sounded like an exhaust of a truck driving down Spadina avenue.

There was no bedside table and no sockets near the bed. The bedframe was larger than the matress and jutted ou. My husband bashed his leg on the bedframe and I had to consciously avoid doing the same. Also the hanging space was awkward to get at as the fridge was in front of it. We also found the room rather dark in terms of lighting.

Pros: friendly, helpful staff and funky, modern vibe; spacious room. Cons: room 32 and adjacent hallway smelled like a mechanical room. Toilet/washroom has no door so it’s open to the bedroom. Strange!

The location was great and very convenient to the venue we were attending with plenty of places within walking distance. The check-in was very easy. They didn't have a room ready for early check in but, gracioulsy they did store our luggage for us. The room was nice and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The only negatives I would like to mention are that there is no door to the bathroom and the lighting is very dim throughout this particular room. All in all I would stay again and recommend.

Great area close to transit and easily walkable area Several interesting neighborhoods and access to transit. Friendly staff. Pricey for fairly basic room though it was reasonably clean and comfortable. Issues with TV constantly losing satelite connection. Noise ttravelled in hallways but it was quiet after 10:30. Two of four outlets did not work in room. Some features of the shower did not function well although the basics were fine and water hot. Overall: good.

Great reasonably priced choice in downtown Toronto. Rooms are minimalist but stylish and quiet; bed was super comfortable. Bathroom roomy and modern.

Me and my daughter were treated horribly by a male staff member named Numen. A nice bartender had to intervene and call the owner to help us. Numen was unreasonable and wanted to take our money and not provide us a room. When we were let in the room we noticed iron burned carpets, filthy vents and no door to the bathroom. The rest of the stay was fine but we will never return to this property and left feeling very abused by Numen and his behaviour made us both feel very unsafe!

Staff was amazing and the rooms were so nice and clean. I love the aesthetic

Hotel building is in a great location for shopping, restaurants, and transportation. Super friendly and helpful staff. They answered all our questions. A/C in our room was excellent. View of the street was amazing. Very clean room. Will definitely book again in the near future.

horrible customer service, wont be staying here again. The front desk was not accommodating to my stay whatsoever. very disappointed.

Literally confirmed our reservation & emailed me check in instructions…..then we got there & they said they didn’t have our reservation. Completely ruined our night & we almost missed the concert we drove 7 hours to be at. No manager on duty to help.

If I counted correctly, the hotel only has 10 rooms! Check-in was a bit rough as staff was multi-tasking, as such they are often not at the counter for extended periods and when mutiple groups check in together, expect a wait. I however like that the check-in is done at the bar / restaurant, so you could just lounge around / get a drink while waiting. The building appears to be built mainly of wood and brick, so was rather intriguing for me. I like that the room has large window overlooking a quiet street and an equally interesting office block opposite. Sound proofing was good. What I didn't like is the layout of the room which is a case of trying too hard to be different. The room is actually huge for because of the layout, a lot of space is wasted. Also, the toilet door badly badly needs fixing. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel.

The layout was super cute because each room looked like converted lofts. Size of the room was a lot bigger than I expected including the washroom. The hotel itself including the floor we were on (2nd floor) was nice & quiet. It was wintertime so the area wasn't very loud or noisy, but the location was nice & central but not too crazy. Convenient location. Price was also great.

Good little hotel with attached bar/restaurant/coffee right in downtown Toronto on Spadina near Queen Street East. Cozy little rooms with nice bathroom and shower (some of the faucets have come a little unstuck). Lots of dining options within a few minutes walk, some open late. Close to Kensington Market and the AGO, good location. People who work there are always friendly.

Everything was perfect. This is my preferred hotel for an overnight in Toronto. The rooms are very hip and spacious, the staff is beyond excellent, and you cannot beat the location. Why go anywhere else?

Close to many attractions and food options.

It was a nice quiet place, lots of restaurants around and 20 min walk max to everything (Cn tower, union station and eaton centre).

Great place if you need to spend a short stay / few nights in the city. The space was comfortable for a couple and clean! It's basically in the middle of Chinatown and super accessible with TTC.

I feel like the staff were really great and nice. I will say that I felt like it was not worth the price. But I was only in the city one night. It's not the nicest hotel; I just feel like the building isn't in the best condition. But I guess if you're in Toronto for a night, it's a passable option. I wouldn't really recommend. But the bar is great and has great staff, so maybe pop in for food and a drink. Also, I was kinda sad I couldn't early check in, even with giving a month's notice. Unfortunately, I don't control flight schedules. So I landed when I landed and had to roam around the city for 3 hours.

Great location, walkable to Rogers Centre, and lots of dining options. This is an older charming, Boutique hotel with friendly staff. We had a great meal in their dining room! We would definitely stay again.

This hotel was excellent to stay at. The room was modern, clean and spacious. The coffee in the morning was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing small hotel with great architecture and restaurant/ bar. I loved my room.. only issue was lighting is the bathroom was not bright enough but otherwise loved it and will stay again.
