Staff, service, breakfast, accommodations could not have been better, kinder or more pleasant. The terrace offered charming view, many places to sit and relax, olive trees and inspiring atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back! Family owned with pride!

We loved this hotel! 10 ! Great location, clean as a whistle and fabulous breakfast & happy hour ! The outdoor patio is beautiful looking up at Moorish Castle! The owner made us feel at home! Will be back!

Perfect location, great staff, good breakfast. Room small but we know it when we booked, however perfect for our needs. To be considered a lot of stairs that could be a problem. Definitively a good place to stay!!

Just fantastic. The Manager Rui was very nice and always helpful. He has free parking nearby and you can sit on the terrace and look up at the Moorish Castle.

Staff was very helpful. Decent breakfast. Wonderful outdoor space. Don’t come with a lot of luggage as there are stairs to come, although the check-in person saw us coming and helped.

All the lovely reviews this property receives are true! I can't think of a better place to end our trip than with Rui at Hotel Nova Sintra! Because it is off / above the street, it is quiet and has a lovely view from the patio as well as the room window. It is quite safe with access by guest key only. The train station and town bus stops are only a short walk down the street. We arrived by bus from Porto and made a bit longer walk to the hotel, but very do-able with rolling luggage. The complimentary breakfast buffet had a great deal of variety and was filling and delicious. Our room was clean and comfortable. My favorite thing about this hotel was the black washcloth provided for make-up removal - I know that might sound silly, but most European hotels do not provide washcloths. I had forgotten my own, and this was a nice touch.

The hotel was lovely, for a two star hotel. I did not realize it when I booked, but they proudly display this fact at their entrance gate. Speaking of the entrance gate, once you go through it, there are two flights of stairs to get to the registration area and rooms. No elevator. My husband was not impressed! The room was adequate, but not what was expected for a "nice" hotel. The bathroom and especially shower were very small. The towels were thin. It is family owned, run by a father and son. They were very nice and helpful, suggesting things to do when the main monuments were closed due to risk of fire. They also pointed out where to park for free, a few blocks away. There is a laundry mat next door. If I went back, I'd find a different place to stay.

Our hosts for this property were a father and son team. This little boutique hotel has been in the family since 1946 and their pride of ownership shows everywhere. The breakfast was perfect. Everything was fresh and delicious and a very nice addition to our stay. They were so accommodating trying to make our stay perfect. This 10 room property is a little gem…a must stay👍

The best place to stay in all of Sintra! Owner and general manager, Rui, is very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful family business, clean and extremely well kept, excellent location close to bus and train stations. We loved calling it home for a few nights!

The Hotel Nova Sintra deserves 10 stars! The owner and his son set the standard for how to treat hotel guests. We felt so welcomed and appreciated. The hotel itself is lovely from the entrance and throughout. Breakfast was delicious with eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt, pastries, coffees and juice. It was just perfect! Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious and the terrace was perfect for an evening cocktail. Honestly, we stayed at a five star hotel in Lisbon prior and the hospitality at this hotel blew them out of the water!

We were so pleased with Nova Sintra Hotel. The father/son team, Rui & Simao, who run the hotel, were gregarious and happy to share tourist/restaurant tips and recommendations which always exceeded our expectations. Breakfast here was excellent. Hotel itself is well-appointed, very clean, comfy beds and in a great location for walking to train/tour buses/old town, Quinta, etc I’d highly recommend this inn!

This was our first visit to Sintra and we could not have found a better hotel. Rui and Domingos are wonderful hosts. From restaurant recommendations, things to do, and places to visit all we had to do was ask. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view over the terrace to the Moorish Castle. The hotel is located a short walk from the train station were you catch the 434 and 435 buses. These take you to all points of interest in Sintra. There are many great restaurants ond cafes nearby. The hotel has free parking nearby. A great perk as parking in Sintra is scarce. The included breakfast was excellent. Eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, bread,yogurt, fruit, cereal, and fresh squeezed orange juice along with the best coffee starts your day off on the right foot. When we return to Sintra Hotel Nova Sintra is where we will be staying.

This hotel surpassed all our expectations and offered an unforgettable experience, making our vacation truly exceptional. The location of the hotel is great for exploring all the local attractions, and has an amazing view of the Moorish Castle up in the hills, from the terrace One of the key factors that set this hotel apart from others was the exceptional hospitality of our host, Rui. From the very beginning, he welcomed us with warmth and genuine kindness. Rui's extensive knowledge of the area helped us plan our daily excursions efficiently, ensuring we made the most of our time exploring the area. His dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was evident throughout our stay, as he always checked in to see if everything was to our liking whenever we met him. The room we stayed in was both elegant and cozy, offering a perfect retreat after long days of exploration. The cleaning is great and one of the thoughtful gestures that really made an impression on my girlfriend, was how they to her surprise had cleaned all the hairs off her hairbrush. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Hotel Nova Sintra enough.

Excellent small hotel, room good sized, clean & comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Host, Rui, was terrific, making us feel very comfortable, and was extreemly informative and helpful in providing restaurant, sightseeing, and transportation recommendations. Would definitely look to stay again.

Super cozy hotel; family managed with a heart. Beautiful location with terrasse, perfect breakfast facilities. First good nights of sleep on our trip. To note: Sintra is very humid, so clothes may not dry so well.

A warm welcome by Rui and help with our bags created an immediate good impression and this high level of service was repeated throughout our stay. The staff certainly know how to run an efficient and comfortable boutique hotel. The provided breakfasts were a great way to start the day and prepare us for lots of sightseeing and walking. The bed was quite comfortable and there was little disturbance from outside traffic. This establishment is within walking distance of the National Palace and plenty of bars, shops , cafes and restaurants. Other areas for sightseeing are just a further 10 to 15 minutes walk further on although there are plenty of transport options also available. Hotel Nova Sintra is just a 10 minute walk either the train station which also makes this location convenient for day trips to Cascais or Lisbon. I can see that the terrace would be put to good use in the warmer months of the year but unfortunately the weather was a little unsettled during our stay. This is our second visit to Sintra. Would we visit again? Definitely - there is still a number of sights and day trips to keep our interest. Where would we stay? The Hotel Nova Sintra again of course. After all we travel for enjoyment and appreciate good service when we experience it.

The hotel is located a short walk from the train station were you catch the 434 and 435 buses. These take you to all points of interest in Sintra. There are many great restaurants ond cafes nearby. The hotel has free parking nearby. A great perk as parking in Sintra is scarce. The included breakfast was excellent. Eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, bread,yogurt, fruit, cereal, and fresh squeezed orange juice along with the best coffee starts your day off on the right foot. When we return to Sintra Hotel Nova Sintra is where we will be staying.

The hotel was lovely, for a two star hotel. I did not realize it when I booked, but they proudly display this fact at their entrance gate. Speaking of the entrance gate, once you go through it, there are two flights of stairs to get to the registration area and rooms. No elevator. My husband was not impressed! The room was adequate, but not what was expected for a "nice" hotel. The bathroom and especially shower were very small. The towels were thin. It is family owned, run by a father and son. They were very nice and helpful, suggesting things to do when the main monuments were closed due to risk of fire. They also pointed out where to park for free, a few blocks away. There is a laundry mat next door. If I went back, I'd find a different place to stay.

Rui is an outstanding host. Very friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts were very good, especially the fresh breads and the jams. Location is perfect. Beds were not that comfortable but just ok.

Rui was an excellent host that went out of his way to make sure that we were well looked after. He was a great source of information and did it all with a smile. Breakfast was varied, very well presented and tasty. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Thank you very much, Rui!

A warm welcome by Rui and help with our bags created an immediate good impression and this high level of service was repeated throughout our stay. The staff certainly know how to run an efficient and comfortable boutique hotel. The provided breakfasts were a great way to start the day and prepare us for lots of sightseeing and walking. The bed was quite comfortable and there was little disturbance from outside traffic. This establishment is within walking distance of the National Palace and plenty of bars, shops , cafes and restaurants. Other areas for sightseeing are just a further 10 to 15 minutes walk further on although there are plenty of transport options also available. Hotel Nova Sintra is just a 10 minute walk either the train station which also makes this location convenient for day trips to Cascais or Lisbon. Our hosts for this property were a father and son team. This little boutique hotel has been in the family since 1946 and their pride of ownership shows everywhere. The breakfast was perfect. Everything was fresh and delicious and a very nice addition to our stay. They were so accommodating trying to make our stay perfect. This 10 room property is a little gem…a must stay👍

From the moment I arrived, Rui, our host, was the most hospitable, kind, and helpful person. He gave me excellent insider advice on how to get to Pena palace and back. I am very glad I listened and went early. He is full of excellent food recommendations in and around Sintra. I'll admit I was a little wet-eyed to leave. Definitely be back!

The weather was really wonderful (75-80 Fahrenheit) and we were able to stroll to and around the city center. Rui was an extremely knowledgeable and caring host. He shared his tips for visiting the attractions in the area as well as shared some recommendations. He checked in with us as we saw him throughout the day to make sure all our needs were met. We would love to visit again!

What a lovely place! Everything was wonderful from the welcome to the breakfast to the genuine host, Rui! It's a short walk to the palace/town but provided relaxation after busy days! The rooftop patio was a treat as well. Even after my stay, Rui took the time to send a forgotten personal belonging back to me - well above and beyond host duties. I cannot thank him enough!

The best place to stay in all of Sintra! Owner and general manager, Rui, is very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful family business, clean and extremely well kept, excellent location close to bus and train stations. We loved calling it home for a few nights!

Very much enjoyed our stay at Nova Sintra. The owner and support staff were extremely friendly and helpful especially when we need to reach our guide for a bike tour. Would absolutely stay here again. Breakfast was very nice as well. Lasting memories.

Amazing location to explore Sintra! This is a family run boutique hotel (father and son), and they are extremely welcoming and friendly. They were able to give us all the local tips for navigating the area, and the location itself was perfect walking distance to the bus loop which covers all the major points of Sintra. Plenty of restaurants are nearby, and the hotel itself is clean and charming with a great breakfast.

The location is perfect to see the city of Sintra and Rui is a wonderful receptionist at the hotel. Very friendly, the hotel is clean and offerred us breakfast in the morning even a few minutes before the normal time so we could catch our morning flight. Very, very friendly and informative about the village of Sintra. Great location near town central.

We had a wonderful two nights in Sintra, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the sights (too many to do in a day trip from Lisbon). The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful, offering us inside tips on the best routes to take. Hotel was easy to find and convenient to the landmarks but also nicely out of the main touristy bustle.

A wonderful hotel. Bernardo and is son were extremely helpful and solicitous. They had the best breakfast spread we saw on our trip. The location was also great. It was an easy walk to the Palácio National da Sintra (we are mid seventies). The following day we took a short Uber ride to the Palacio National da Pena and then walked to the Castelo dos Mouros. From there it was only a 30 minute walk back to the hotel. Bernardo's restaurant recommendations were also excellent. There is a very nice terrace with views of the palaces on the mountain. There is no car parking at the hotel but there is free public parking a five minute walk from the hotel. Note: we arrived at about 2pm on a week day. The parking lot was crammed but I found a place. On the weekend, it was mostly empty. It appears to be used by working locals. One photo is the hotel from the Moorish castle and the other is the Moorish Castle from the hotel veranda.
