Aok excellent and nice location

This is a gorgeous property and very clean. But when we arrive at 3pm, there's was no front desk and no one to help us find which room we were in . Even though they said they were open till 5pm. We had to ask somewhere else staying there what to do. There are very steep stairs with no elevator so if you cant lift luggage very well, I recommend asking for the bottom floor. There were absolutely no amenities in the room other than an ice bucket and bottle of water. There is a store next door for breakfast (great food) and coffee but who wants to get dressed, go outside to get coffee, or to the other building for coffee or tea.. No microwave, coffee pot, fridge or extra blankets in the room. Also the fireplaces in the rooms are non working. 😔 Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. The Tavern they offer is only open Wed-Sat. Its a beautiful place but I don't think its set up for hotel style guests! Also there is only 1 central ac/heat unit that controls the whole house. No individual room thermostats. We never met who was in charge of the place. We finally called and they gave us our room number and code to get in. Very curtious on the phone. Not close to town but not a bad drive. We were put on the 2nd floor with no one to help with luggage and about pulled my back out trying to carry it up. We would not stay here again due to many things especially no one on sight to help direct us or help with luggage..

Some things I would have appreciated knowing before booking. There is no front desk (this is stated on the website, but I missed it). We arrived in the evening with our bags and found a busy restaurant, initially wondering if we were even in the right place. The bartender helped us. We were told we should have received an email with self-check-in instructions, but I never received one (I checked spam and deleted files). Our room was a cozy cabin-style room out back, separate from the main building. It had a refrigerator and fireplace, although a sign instructed guests NOT TO USE THE FIREPLACE, so worthless. There was no microwave (not a big deal), but also no coffee maker or hot water machine...a big deal for me. Seemed overpriced even midweek, so I expected more amenities. The bath towels were dirty, neatly folded, but like they had already been used. They were replaced the next day, but, ick. That night, we also found a few earwigs in the bed. We brushed them off, but it was unsettling. No WiFi coverage.. The next morning, we walked to the main building for coffee. There was one small Keurig, but it wasn't working and needed descaling. No one was around to help. There’s a small store next door that’s serves some breakfast but not open until 7:30. this is why I gave it 2 stars. The property has charm, but for the price, the lack of basic amenities, no WiFi , difficult check-in, dirty towels, bugs, and no coffee machine made the experience disappointing

We loved the space, in spite of the number of stairs. The country store and restaurant nearby were both great additions.

Internet was down and no cell service so was unable to have my meeting via zoom. Staff was very apologetic and refunded me $50,
