The inn was beautiful from the grounds to the decor. The furnishings were period authentic and absolutely beautiful. John messaged with specific instructions helping our late checkin go smoothly. Parking was easy also. Breakfast was delicious as it is cooked as ordered. The towels were thick and nice. There were several benches and tables throughout the grounds for enjoying the outdoors. If you are looking for a charming getaway, this is the place. It was also within 15 minutes of some of Augusta's fun attractions like Top Golf, Dave and Busters and a movie theater. We definitely will be staying here again.

Very clean, comfortable bed. The only issue we ran into was upon our return to the hotel one night, there was no parking. We weren’t sure what to do as we’re not from the area and didn’t know if street parking was allowed. We finally saw some cars parked on the street about a block up and determined we’d be fine. This was around 11pm otherwise we’d have called the inn. Aside from that all was smooth.

Greeted and escorted to our room with ease and hospitality. Inn is gorgeous with a beautiful courtyard. Room was spacious and comfortable definitely better than a regular hotel.

The communication with staff on my day of arrival went well; unfortunately, highway traffic delayed my arrival time but the innkeeper was pleasant and let me know how to access my room after-hours. The location of the inn is ideal for restaurants, a quaint downtown scene, and to nearby Augusta. I felt safe walking around the inn and the neighborhood in the early hours/late afternoon as a solo female traveler. The property has beautiful landscaping and the fellow guests were a delight to talk to at the morning breakfast. The dining room was well attended by staff. The setup of this inn is simple and doesn't require a hike to the parking lot, which is ideal if you have a lot of luggage. I'd recommend this inn to anyone staying in the area for a night or two. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, and the shower had great water pressure. Basic toiletries like shampoo/soap/makeup remover were provided.

The host was welcoming upon arrival. My first impression was, wow! The mansion is beautiful and sits high above a little park. The downside is that a very busy road coming out of the city splits and goes on both sides of the property so traffic noise is a hindrance for sleeping. As far as my room, I appreciated the period furnishings. A new event building is going in next to the Inn. If I had stood on the balcony, I felt like I could reach out and touch the new building. So basically all of the rooms on that side of the inn no longer have a view or privacy if they want to use their balconies. Overall the room appeared clean. My only complaint is that when I Laid my head on the pillow it smelled like musty body oil. I looked inside the pillowcase, and there was no protector on the pillow itself! I found that rather surprising. The bed linens were low quality. Oddly, 3 rooms are controlled by one thermostat. I was in a room that did not have the thermostat. The host was gracious enough to let me set it where I thought I would want it all night. I had no way of knowing exactly how the room would feel during the night. I was much too warm, and did not fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning when the room finally cooled down. I would recommend this property but I think if I were to stay there again, I would question where my room would be located and whether or not, I would have control of my own AC unit. If I stay again, I would enjoy a room in the mansion.

We visited Augusta to attend the funeral of a family friend and were fortunate to discover the LookAway Inn. This beautiful historic home exudes southern charm, making it a perfect retreat during a difficult time. The lobby is elegantly designed, capturing the essence of southern hospitality, while our rooms were impeccably clean and exceptionally comfortable. The innkeeper, John, truly went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Knowing we arrived early for the funeral, he graciously arranged for us to change comfortably before heading out. After spending the day with friends, we returned to the inn for a delicious breakfast that was the perfect start to our day. The location of the inn is not only convenient but also offers stunning views. We took a lovely stroll to the waterfront for dinner, adding to the overall experience. Loved our stay! The room was perfect and clean! Loved the outside porch outside our room. The weather was beautiful and we took advantage of the porch and walking around the home and garden area. Everything was immaculate and you can tell that John the Innkeeper takes great pride in maintaining the home. We enjoyed our visit. The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer.

I liked the price and location. The rooms were clean. However, the linens were something you might buy at Goodwill ( flower print) instead of regular white horel linens.

Lookaway Inn, circa 1890 mansion/bed and breakfast, located in N Augusta on a hill that, in its heyday, you could see from the Savannah river and viceversa. John was very cordial and welcomes us as we came in the front door. He showed us our room which was off to the side of others. Room was beautiful and furnished with period pieces. The bed was very comfortable and room was quiet. (There were only 2 other guest staying there). Bathroom was huge and stocked with assorted amenities. Shower/tub combo. The shower head probably needed to be replaced and the shower shut off valve adjusted because there was very little pressure for the shower and most of the water filled up the tub. Renovations were on tap for that room as mentioned to us by Linda, who took care of us during the morning breakfast. Basically a serve yourself style breakfast with eggs cooked to order by the attendant (Linda, who was very nice and very helpful and informative about the mansion). Overall , I gave an excellent rating on everything simply because we enjoyed ourselves aside from the minor issues.( TV was stubborn cause I couldn’t change channels, but this was before we went to sleep, so no worries). Charming historic hotel. Friendly host and staff. Big spacious rooms. Good location with many good dining locations just a mile away near the river walk. When in the area this is where I will stay. The buffet breakfast with eggs made to order is exactly as it sounds.

The Lookaway Inn is a wonderful spot. The room was spacious and cozy. The breakfast was excellent. John is a great host. Easy to navigate, great location. If you are staying in Augusta this is the place to be.

Disappointing Experience — Discriminatory Toward Service Animals I was extremely disappointed with my recent interaction with this hotel. I informed the manager, John, a few hours before check in, that I was traveling with my service animal, who is legally permitted to accompany me anywhere, and I was shocked at being told that I could not bring her to the hotel. Despite explaining that this was a trained service animal, not a pet, John refused to accommodate me. He asked for proof of my dog's certification which showed a complete lack of understanding of the law. The ADA guidelines for service animals state that certification and licenses are not required and therefore are not needed to access a public place. John then went on to say, "We have a no pets allowed policy and if you bring your service dog then the other guests will assume that they can bring their pets as well." My dog is not a pet. She is a necessary "piece of equipment" to assist me in my daily activities. Hopefully John never tells a guest they can't bring their wheelchair, cane or oxygen tank into his hotel! Traveling is already stressful enough without having to fight for basic respect and legal rights. This experience left me feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Not only was it inconvenient, since we had to find another hotel after being in the car for 10+ hours, but it was also deeply disrespectful and in clear violation of ADA regulations. Avoid if you need and rely on a service animal.

After a harrowing Airport Car Rental experience ( they ran out of cars so, along with many other people, we had to wait 4 hours for a car) we called the Inn proprietor to say that we would arrive much later than planned. We were sent instructions of how to get into our room etc. When we arrived and got into our room it was so welcoming and cosy it was just what we needed. The bed was so comfortable. We went to the house for breakfast and it was beautiful the whole place was amazing. John was a lovely host and made us lovely fresh coffee( I am a very fussy coffee drinker) this coffee was great. We also had a lovely breakfast. We will go back.

The inn was beautiful from the grounds to the decor. The furnishings were period authentic and absolutely beautiful. John messaged with specific instructions helping our late checkin go smoothly. Parking was easy also. Breakfast was delicious as it is cooked as ordered. The towels were thick and nice. There were several benches and tables throughout the grounds for enjoying the outdoors. If you are looking for a charming getaway, this is the place. It was also within 15 minutes of some of Augusta's fun attractions like Top Golf, Dave and Busters and a movie theater. We definitely will be staying here again.

Beautiful accommodations and warm, helpful owners! I was in town for a quilt show and was by myself for this trip. I am 60 and very cautious. I felt safe and comfortable leaving after dark to pick up dinner from a nearby restaurant. A full breakfast, provided by John (owner), was delicious! I look forward to staying here next year when I return for the annual quilt show.

The property has beautiful landscaping and the fellow guests were a delight to talk to at the morning breakfast. The dining room was well attended by staff. At arrival we were warmly greeted by the owner, John. His hospitality was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. This is far better than a hotel. The ideal bed and breakfast charm too. We visited Augusta to attend the funeral of a family friend and were fortunate to discover the LookAway Inn. This beautiful historic home exudes southern charm, making it a perfect retreat during a difficult time. We highly recommend the Lookaway Inn. It has been beautifully maintained with all of its southern charm. It’s very convenient to Augusta National and Green Jackets Stadium. The Innkeeper was so friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the area and helpful with any questions we had. We will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Every moment was special. John greeted me and before I arrived contacted me concerned about my being able to park when I arrived, but he saved me a space. Great breakfast in a gorgeous dining room

What a beautiful property and wonderful stay. The room was historic with a great TV and updated bathroom. Our host John was very nice and cooked us eggs to go with the really good breakfast buffet. We hope to return.

It was a good stay except the bed was very old and firm, and noisy, gave me a terrible Back ache. Room 114. Breakfast was the usual continental breakfast with cooked to order eggs and sausage, nothing special. The breakfast cook was very nice and friendly. The house was very interesting with beautiful woodwork. For the money I would think decent beds would be a given, but I was wrong. We were in the Inn behind the house. The beds in the main house felt very nice when we toured the house. So try to get one of those rooms.

John was extremely accommodating and took the time to prepare breakfast for us. He also made us feel at home and got to know us and our 6 month old very well. Definitely recommend!

Super cute and charming! We were greeted with kindness. Beautiful historic building 5 mins away from our basketball tournaments so location is great, felt safe and close to all with easy parking. Traditional decor-we got the garden view room . Spacious and clean all except the tub-the jets haven’t been cleaned at all-so I would advise against using it to soak-but we typically just use a shower in a hotel anyway. The beds unfortunately were super uncomfortable and hard and worn out so we did not get a good nights rest after basketball all day. The breakfast I thought would be more but we toasted bagels ourself had some selections of cereal and a few pastries-the lady in that area said she did eggs or sausage only but it was microwave sausage. Was really looking forward to the breakfast part of the bed and breakfast. While the charm is there and the staff is kind, the bathrooms need some upkeep and bed mattresses need to be replaced -this is why I rated an overall 4.

Spacious and clean all except the tub-the jets haven’t been cleaned at all-so I would advise against using it to soak-but we typically just use a shower in a hotel anyway. The beds unfortunately were super uncomfortable and hard and worn out so we did not get a good nights rest after basketball all day. The breakfast I thought would be more but we toasted bagels ourself had some selections of cereal and a few pastries-the lady in that area said she did eggs or sausage only but it was microwave sausage. Was really looking forward to the breakfast part of the bed and breakfast. While the charm is there and the staff is kind, the bathrooms need some upkeep and bed mattresses need to be replaced -this is why I rated an overall 4.
