The hotel was clean and had a decent bed, that was the extent of the good. The motel had no ice machine and the AC was louder than it was cold. Hotels.com never sent me a confirmation so I rebooked. I ended up with 2 rooms. The owner did not charge me for the second room other than a $25 cash fee. It could have been worse.

One of the only motel during my trip that had a physical key instead of a door card. This is not a complaint, just an observation. My room was on the first floor and I was able to park right in front. My room was comfortable. Nothing to complain about.

The room was clean & beds good. Our room was on the 2nd level along with 3 other rooms. Mostly it was quiet but a room either beside us or just beneath on the 1st level kept their TV on all night. The concrete steps from the ground to the 2nd level were too narrow in depth. When we checked out, it was raining and going down those steps was a bit risky. The motel needs to address that. It is an older motel but very clean. Just make sure you get a ground level room.

Had the new room (#34). Hot shower, cold A/C, very comfortable bed with a firm AND soft pillow, and better lighting than I’ve had at the fancier hotels. Also parked at my door. Heard some trains, but no biggie.

The hotel is well maintained while still having the charm of a classic motel. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. Shower had good water pressure and hot water. Parking lot in front well maintained. Would recommend in a second.

This motel is good for a night or two, but that’s it. The advertising is very misleading. The room on the advertising isn’t the room you get. There is no play ground, no room service, not even a vending machine. Our room didn’t even have a phone and you had to kick the door to get it shut all the way. The bed wasn’t comfortable, but like i said good for a night or two.

The bed was too close to the air conditioning unit. The air conditioning unit was very noisy. There was a unit above ours where the floor was apparently hollow because the sound from the residents thumping around was very loud. There were no cups in the room for water. There were no tissues. There was an odor in the room which was probably old cigarette smoke. The bath linens also had a very nasty smell like they were not cleaned properly. Needless to say we only stayed one night of our extended stay and left early the next day to find another place to stay!

Don’t let the price fool you, it was nice, clean and quiet. There are no fancy amenities but for the price you can go out for breakfast and still save money. I’d 100% stay here again if I ever come back to the area.

It's an older property, but in very good shape. The bed was very comfortable and huge one of the largest king beds I have ever slept in, not lumpy or breaking down. Not the Ritz but way better than most chains, great mom and pop joint.

Our room was very dated. However, it is very clean and well maintained. So considering the cost of the room, it was a great deal as it was very clean! We didn't like that there was only one outlet and one plug on the lamp that worked. It was a good thing that we brought a power strip so we were able to charge all of our devices.

Management is awesome. Room is basic, I get it. I paid for the motel and it is what I expecting. But the lighting, it just feels like living in the ghost room. With the same basic level setup the room can at least look a bit nicer. Bathroom smells, and when you shower you do it in a real darkness. I stayed in some real budget motels, but this one isn’t that exceptional for a mid-8 of 10 rating.

The room was very small. You only get in the bed from one side or at the end. The oversize bathroom door caused the queen bed to be too close to the wall.

The property itself wasn’t bad at all but the owners are very rude and disrespectful. I was coming down from 4 hours away to visit my sister and her 4 month old daughter and he told me and my wife we couldn’t have guests over to our room. Then he proceeded to argue with me over hotel policy in which it does not say anything about having guests in our room. Will not be staying here again and will be leaving reviews on other sites

The attendant told me they had an elevator because the room we wanted (a king bed) was on the second floor but when I got there there was no elevator. The attendant said he didn’t tell me that like I was stupid. So it was late and no refund so we took a down stairs 2 bed room. The room was ok clean but very dated and beds were not comfy at all. The next morning the same attendant knocked in the door at 10:05 and told me I had 20 mins. To leave that check out was 10. He never told me a check out time but again he said he did. Who makes a check out time for 10? It’s usually 11. It made our stay for a family funeral very uncomfortabke

It was an overall positive experience. A nice area and not too far from I-65. No complications. A comfortable bed. Couch was a bit hard, but other than that, I would still recommend Horse Cave Motel.

Manager and family were very friendly. Room was clean and neat. Lots of storage if one needs it. Full fridge appreciated from people like us who still travel with a full cooler that needs ice refrozen and food refrigerated. Very reasonable price. Felt safe in the area. Would stay here again.

Clean and quiet. Owners are very friendly. If you are just wanting a place to sleep, it is perfect. Its an old hotel but was perfect for us. Very close to Mammoth Cave and hidden river cave.

Chose to stay here on our trip to visit Mammoth National Park. Was an eaay and close location. Love motels and this one was very clean and they even upgraded our room to a king for free and already couldn't beat the price.

Horse Cave Motel is for many reasons the place I wish my parents had taken me when I was a child, and where I wish I'd taken my children when they were young. Ideally located in the center of one of the most unique geographical locations in the world, multiple opportunities for sightseeing and learning unlike anywhere else in the world. Horse Cave motel would have been perfect for my 1970s youth, and it has retained that charming motif.

Nestled in the foothills of Horse Cave city, This hotel is convenient to get to most hiking trails in Mammoth Cave within minutes. Gas and convenience stores are nearby The rooms were very clean, and there were plenty of amenities. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful I felt totally safe here and it was very quiet

This motel is good for a night or two, but that’s it. The advertising is very misleading. The room on the advertising isn’t the room you get. There is no play ground, no room service, not even a vending machine. Our room didn’t even have a phone and you had to kick the door to get it shut all the way. The bed wasn’t comfortable, but like i said good for a night or two.

Don’t let the price fool you, it was nice, clean and quiet. There are no fancy amenities but for the price you can go out for breakfast and still save money. I’d 100% stay here again if I ever come back to the area.

Would not recommend, especially for solo women. I didn't expect luxury for the price, but I ended up leaving after only a couple of hours and canceling the rest of my trip because I didn't feel safe staying here. The sheets appeared to be stained or soiled, and the room only had a basic door lock—there was no deadbolt or safety chain. As a woman traveling alone, seeing several men gathered outside smoking made me feel even more uncomfortable. When I left, the owner only gave me a partial refund because I didn't leave immediately after checking in. I didn't discover the issues until I was getting ready for bed. Overall, I could not stay because I didn't feel the room was clean or secure.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We love well maintained vintage hotels over the big corporate ran hotels. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We were in town for business and this location could not have been more convenient. The area and parking lot felt safer than any motel we have ever stayed in. Check in was very efficient. We will definitely plan to stay here in February when we have business in the area again.
