Das Hotel mit seiner historischen Fassade macht schon von Außen einen sehr interessanten Eindruck. Auch unser Zimmer war im antiken Stil möbliert. Das hat uns gefallen. Trotzdem mussten wir auf moderne Annehmlichkeiten nicht verzichten, denn wir hatten das „Spa-Zimmer“ mit Whirlpool. Wir wurden ausgesprochen herzlichen von der Dame an der Rezeption empfangen und fanden im Zimmer eine Flaschen Rotwein und Gebäck als Gruß des Hauses vor. Das war eine sehr schöne Geste. Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Uferpromenade, so dass wohl fast alle Zimmer mit Meerblick sein dürften. Leider entsprach das hinzugebuchte Frühstück überhaupt nich unseren Erwartungen: Der Kaffee war zu dünn und das Rührei war kaum genießbar. Die Auswahl war sehr gering. Das Hotel würden wir aber trotz dieses Mangels empfehlen.

Room small and very hot only a fan no airconditoning. Toliet and shower across public hallway. Pub not open for dinner on Sunday nor was the bar pass 6pm. Good view from balcony. There was a stuffup with the bill I had already paid for the room they charged me again x2 hopefully I get it back

The Anchorage is full of old world charm and is a beautiful heritage hotel. Its abit tired now. Didnt like having to go down hall to separate bathroom and toilet. Was difficult to carry all our luggsge up so many stairs as there was no lift. Did not have contact with staff so can't give a review on customer service. Good value and great location

Victor Harbor hat mir ingesamt super gefallen. Ein großartiges kleines Städtchen mit viel Charme. Das Hotel selber ist schon deutlich in die Jahre gekommen, aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passte. Das Auto konnte man im Innenhof abstellen. Zu Fuß konnte man den Ort sehr gut erkunden. In der Nähe befinden sich zahlreiche Restaurants, Cafés und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sowie die Sehenswürdigkeiten des Ortes.

Location wise the hotel was great and had a great view across the ocean from your room on the balcony. The bed was just a normal double bed and was fairly uncomfortable and didn’t leave much space for 2 people. We had also booked for a spa bath room for our stay but when trying to use it it didn’t seem to work at all. Overall not amazing but a decent stay even if just for the view.

Hotel di fronte al mare, 5 minuti a piedi per l'isola di granito. Vicino al centro città e ai negozi. Parcheggio privato disponibile. All'interno della struttura si trova anche un bar ristorante che chiude alle 18. Struttura storica e bella ma che necessità ristrutturazione interna. Camera grande, bollitore, mobilio vecchio e bagno vecchio, da risistemare. Consigliato per la posizione.

Ceiling fan had dust falling off it- while it was off!! Mirror frame was also very dusty. Heating was turned on when we arrived, but it was on cool, it was like entering a freezer! Spa jets were also very dirty, and so after specifically selecting a spa room, we decided against using it. We could hear neighbouring rooms using spa, shower and flushing toilet. Overall, not recommending to others and not returning.

Abysmal. Should be demolished. The paint and finish to the rooms is flaking and crumbling. The carpets are filthy and disgusting. We booked a Seaview room but there is no view. Honestly should be shut down and refurbished. How they can charge the rates they do is beyond me. NO AIRCONDITIONING! And it’s summer…

Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber Zimmer war sehr sauber, Betten bequem. Schöne Lage, sehr zentral. Für eine Nacht auf der Durchreise super.

After over 2 weeks in Australia staying in 10 hotels costing from 120 to 250 per night, the Anchorage was the 1st disappointing hotel we had! Reasons: It is one of the most expensive hotel we booked. The WiFi was not working in our room, only in the lobby and pub, asking the question to a staff, he told us that the WiFi was not working in many rooms far from the lobby! While this is an historical hotel which we like, it is not maintained well, some lights are broken in the corridor, our room carpet was really very old, bad smell in our room, and so on. Also No climatisation in our room. We were very disappointed. On the pro side the pub staff and food were great and the hotel location is excellent.

The view was lovely. The bed was old and hard. There was no wifi and I came with work to be done. Care factor was poor and was told it was because of the thick walls. The age of the building was quaint but it needs some attention and comfortable bedding. Paid too much. Convenient to attractions.

Staff helpful, friendly and professional. Room was great, and while bathroom was separate to room, it was private and full size bath. Able to soak all cares away.

The hotel was great except it is advertised as having air conditioning while only some rooms have a/c. Unbeknownst to us on booking, was not one of them and it was 97 degrees so we were unable to sleep. This is the 1st thing I check on all hotels before I book -air con & bathroom so I was quite unpleasantly surprised and I was not the only guest to feel this way

Lovely building in the heart of Victor Harbor, convenient popular restaurant and good for the price. Was a hot night so a little uncomfortable without air con or through breeze but a fan was provided.

Lovely historical room in a terrific old building, great bar and restaurant. Right across from the beach with views, easy walk to all the local attractions and landmarks. Only downfall was the lack of AC, but the room had a fab to help. Would stay again without hesitation

The building is tired. The room was clean and smelt nice. The reception person was, abrupt when we arrived . We were held up so didn’t get there until 4.45 and she wanted to go home I suppose. The front office shut at five, the restaurant was closed with no notice. All in all it could have been better. But as we were there for the dawn service which was across the road it was convenient and we could go into the town centre for dinner.

Extremely difficult to book in, as access to internet as an overseas customer very difficult and with no phone access to get instructions. No staff seen and had to use a key drop to get key. Building in need of a complete renovation

This was a stop over on a road trip with a mate. Busy afternoon in the hotel & initially had trouble finding someone to check us in. One of the least impressive rooms on our roadtrip, especially for the price. Set up of the room was quite unusual, with toilet on one side of the room & the bathroom on the opposite side of the room, requiring a walk around the main bed to get between the two. Quite a few pieces of furniture in the room, which made the room feel quite small. Small bathroom & shower & beds were not the most comfortable. At 190cm I had to lay diagonally so that my feet didn't overhang. The highlight of the hotel was the restaurant. Great atmosphere & food.

This was a stop over on a road trip with a mate. Busy afternoon in the hotel & initially had trouble finding someone to check us in. One of the least impressive rooms on our roadtrip, especially for the price. We stayed in a heritage room which has older more colonial features, part of this charm means you have to adapt, but this hotel is across the road from the ocean, a short walk into the main square and has oodles of character.

Victor Harbor hat mir ingesamt super gefallen. Ein großartiges kleines Städtchen mit viel Charme. Das Hotel selber ist schon deutlich in die Jahre gekommen, aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passte. Das Auto konnte man im Innenhof abstellen. Zu Fuß konnte man den Ort sehr gut erkunden. In der Nähe befinden sich zahlreiche Restaurants, Cafés und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sowie die Sehenswürdigkeiten des Ortes.

A convenient location but the room, whilst clean was spartan and tired. Tatty lace curtains with rips and holes did not leave a good impression. Staff were great; having the cafe on the premises was also good when travelling.

Das Hotel mit seiner historischen Fassade macht schon von Außen einen sehr interessanten Eindruck. Auch unser Zimmer war im antiken Stil möbliert. Das hat uns gefallen. Trotzdem mussten wir auf moderne Annehmlichkeiten nicht verzichten, denn wir hatten das „Spa-Zimmer“ mit Whirlpool. Wir wurden ausgesprochen herzlichen von der Dame an der Rezeption empfangen und fanden im Zimmer eine Flaschen Rotwein und Gebäck als Gruß des Hauses vor. Das war eine sehr schöne Geste. Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Uferpromenade, so dass wohl fast alle Zimmer mit Meerblick sein dürften. Leider entsprach das hinzugebuchte Frühstück überhaupt nich unseren Erwartungen: Der Kaffee war zu dünn und das Rührei war kaum genießbar. Die Auswahl war sehr gering. Das Hotel würden wir aber trotz dieses Mangels empfehlen.

Room small and very hot only a fan no airconditoning. Toliet and shower across public hallway. Pub not open for dinner on Sunday nor was the bar pass 6pm. Good view from balcony. There was a stuffup with the bill I had already paid for the room they charged me again x2 hopefully I get it back

I love the quirkiness of The Anchorage - have stayed there many times. The location is great - I didn’t use the car while there. Was a little disappointed that the cafe no longer serves breakfast - and that it was closed Friday - but I survived :)

Obviously the decor was dated but very clean. Staff member was lovely- approachable, engaging knowledgeable & helpful. Real surprise to have complimentary snacks (thank you). Was looking forward to in house dining but unfortunately was told it was not available during the dates we had booked. Would book here again if travelling to SA.

We only stayed the one night which I’m glad. Room 5 had a private bathroom across the hall with a great shower. The room definitely needs a new mattress as it was quite uncomfortable. We had trouble with the kettle and heating as I assume it was because everything was running off one power board for everything in the room. The room did have balcony access but due to the bad weather didn’t get to use it. I would say it needs a bit of updating in the accommodation area as it is looking quite ‘weathered’ however the restaurant at the rear was outstanding. The food was beautiful as were the hosts and it had been renovated.

Lovely historical room in a terrific old building, great bar and restaurant. Right across from the beach with views, easy walk to all the local attractions and landmarks. Only downfall was the lack of AC, but the room had a fab to help. Would stay again without hesitation

Welcoming staff upon arrival. Nicely presented and clean room with a great view and complimentary wine and snacks for a bonus touch. Also was offered a generous late check-out when requested. Highly recommend.

Nice neat clean room, we had a beach view and watched the sunrise. Hot water takes some time to get through, but when it does the shower is awesome. Love the old quater style revamped accommodation. Pity there's no food on site, that would have topped our stay.

We had a Seaview room with a separate lounge area, comfy bed and a good bathroom. It was quiet, warm and had plenty of space. We were however very disappointed by the fact that the only thing open is the front door, reception and our room. Contrary to what is advertised on any website and any booking site.. the bar, restaurant, cafe and live music is now permanently closed and has been since the end of April. This is only disclosed on walking through the front door. The receptionist did disclose this on check in and gave us a bottle of wine, which was very kind, but we still feel that it is false advertising and that the company should be made to correct its advertising to reflect the true status of the Anchorage. There are other dining options available close by, and we took advantage of that. We were very happy with our accomodation and it is good value for your money.
