The Grove West Seattle Inn

Overall, I had a good experience staying at this hotel. The property is simple but well-maintained. There is no elevator, so keep that in mind if you’re traveling with heavy luggage or have mobility concerns. I stayed in Room 236, which was a good size—comfortable enough for a short stay. The room was clean and functional, with all the basic amenities I needed. The air conditioning setup was interesting. It seems like they recently installed a split AC unit on the wall, but they also kept the original window AC in place. During my stay, the split unit didn’t cool the room very well on its own. It was running, but the temperature didn’t drop enough to feel truly comfortable. Luckily, the window unit still worked, so I ended up turning on both, and that did the trick. After that, the room stayed at a nice, cool temperature, even during the warmer parts of the day. One small issue I experienced in the room was a constant sound of running water coming from the wall behind the split AC. At first, I assumed it was the AC making the noise, but I realized later that it continued even when the unit was turned off. It wasn’t loud enough to keep me awake, but it was noticeable throughout the night, and a bit strange. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I especially want to highlight the woman working in the breakfast area—she was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and made a real effort to greet and help everyone with a smile. I stayed to visit my son in West Seattle, a new resident of the area. When I checked in, the desk clerk gave me a good piece of advice - to park my car in front of my room and let my son drive me around town, because the parking spots disappear in the late afternoon. She was correct. The room itself was clean and comfortable and was a good place to chill between visits with my son. It was also competitively priced, which is significant, being at the only hotel I found in West Seattle. It was only a half mile from my son's place. Other hotels were much farther both distance and time-wise.

The entire staff was great -- front desk, breakfast and housekeeping couldn't have been any more helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was simple and good enough to start your day. You might have to park on the street if you get back to the property late at night, but it's really not that bad. The general patio area is a nice amenity for this kind of place. My one suggestion is to not keep the rooms so warm prior to check-in. It was around 60 degrees (F) outside but it was so hot in my room that I had to open the windows and leave the door open for a while. Turning up the heat like that was a complete waste of energy. There is one negative that is out of the hotel's control. The alley behind the building can be very loud because there are multiple dumpsters back there for another building. I was there when there was a pickup and I don't see how anyone could sleep through that. Also, morning rush hour traffic can easily be heard from the room because the windows are really thin - honking, sirens, people driving like jerks. So, if you're a light sleeper who plans on sleeping in on a weekday, you should probably try to go to sleep early.

Nice, clean rooms which appear to have been renovated. Staff is very professional and friendly, parking is easy and there is lots of food and transportation options within walking distance. Really the only thing to note was the newer AC was not working and there was a smaller window unit put in that was quite loud when in use, but everything else was great for a budget friendlier option to stay.

Toilet didn’t work and parking was full. Checked in later in day. Had to park blocks away. Tried calling manager about toilet and she didn’t answer. Signed a form saying my pet fee was$35, but the morning check out clerk, tried to tell me the pet fee was $40 and gave me attitude about the toilet and parking complaint. I paid $177 for a room that didn’t work and no parking.

I really liked that this property had an on-site parking lot unlike most of the hotels in/around Seattle. This hotel was also conveniently located 15 min away from downtown seattle and it is right by the freeway entrance/exit. The staff was very friendly and they let me check in over an hour early which was a lifesaver since we were flying all morning and exhausted. 5/5

We enjoyed our stay at the Grove. Located in West Seattle, about 20 minutes from the airport (give or take some minutes depending on traffic). Clean room, respectful and friendly staff. It is a walk up so if thats a problem you can request a ground floor unit. Parking available and if you cant find a stall, lots of safe, street parking. We'd definitely return. Mahalo!

This was the worst ever place I ve been to. It was the middle of the night as my flight was late and I spent the night on a chair with nothing to eat or drink because the bed was so dirty.I checked out early next morning from this disgusting place. I was told I would get a refund for the next day. Thank you Expedia for my night of agony. Please send me my refund.Manelle Fernando

The lamp in our room is not functional. It won’t turn on and started flashing in the middle of the night waking my wife. The floor is sticky. My wife walked from the bathroom to the bed in her white socks they were dark grey on the bottoms as a result.

The carpet in the room was disgusting. Large stains in several places and just dirty. The beds were clean and comfy, but a tad hard. That’s just personal preference though. The bathroom was fine but could have had a better clean along the base of tub. Towels were clean. Water in tub came out brown tinged when I first turned it on. Staff was very nice and simple breakfast was nice.

Pictures on Expedia site are very misleading. There was hair on the bed, floors were dirty. Will never stay again or recommended.

No vent in bathroom, shower surround coming off wall, air conditioner loud and unable to sleep with it running, wall air conditioner didn’t work, fire alarm was set off by short shower, conditioner was gone, beds dropped to the middle, no comforter. Would definitely not recommend.

The room (queen) was rather small, but more so, it was very noisy, especially being on the first floor. Guests who checked in around midnight kept us up. Not to mention the noise from the fridge and the banging from the gate of people coming in and out

Thew check in process was a breeze. Customer Service was exceptional. The rooms very clean and new looking. The only draw back I have would be thew bed! The bed had a huge dip in the middle. You would actually roll to the middle of the bed. I had to put a pillow under myself along my body in order to not roll into the huge dip. Please switch that bed out !! Hardly got any sleep due to having to turn over and make sure the pillow was in the correct spot so I wouldn't roll into the dip.

While the bed was comfortable, refrigerator and keurig in room, it was hard to rate the stay much higher due to loud street noise and loudness of neighboring rooms. Too easy to hear toilet flushes and running showers. Also, the in room HVAC unit had a super bright control unit that wasn’t able to be dimmed.

Rooms were clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was next to an alley and garbage trucks woke us at 6:30 am. There is a heater on the wall that illuminated the room so sleeping mask a must

Check in was great - the lady was super helpful and friendly, gave great advice for next time, as I had a handicapped spouse.

The plus: The water taxi is the easiet (and cheapest) way to reach downtown, and the trip is excellent. From the Grove, it's easy to get to the docks. Trader Joes and Whole Foods within walking distance. The staff were a delight. The negative: This place is SO outdated, and not in a good way. The mattress was HORRIBLE! I left with a back ache. For the price, I expected more.

I stayed at The Grove Hotel and it truly exceeded my expectations. The hotel was incredibly clean, without any strong cleaning odors. The beds were comfortable, even the bedding was softer than most other hotels I’ve stayed in. The staff went above and beyond with their helpfulness and kindness at checkin and the few times I had questions. Their hospitality made the stay even more enjoyable. The location was perfect for people who enjoy walking. It was close enough for us to walk to the downtown area, with plenty of shops and restaurants. We kept our car parked at the hotel and had no issues with vandalism. I felt the car was well protected because the parking is so close to the rooms themselves. The only downside was its proximity to a Veterans Center, which had the appearance of a homeless camp. That said, we walked by it multiple times during our stay and never encountered any issues. We felt safe the entire time. For reference we are women in our early 40s. I should note the street noise at night is LOUD and there is a fire station across the street that had trucks with sirens multiple times throughout the night. Bring earplugs if you want a good night sleep! Overall, I’d recommend The Grove Hotel for anyone looking for a budget-friendly, clean, and well-located option with exceptional service!

Cute room, just enough space! Breakfast room was great, no waffles though!

Good location. Was really nice to not have to worry about parking. Could easily get to what we wanted to in the city and come back to a comfortable base. Continental breakfast was pretty standard but it worked and was a nice option to be able to grab something before heading out for the day.

The apple bread I had for breakfast had mold on it. I showed to the attendant informed them of the situation, and asked them to take action to prevent other customers from eating it, but they did not do so.

Thank you The Grove!! We were visiting from Canada and very much enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were overly kind and helpful, breakfast was great, and the location is so convenient to use public transit to get downtown. Very happy with this cute and affordable motel.

Every time we go down to Seattle we stay at The Grove! Close to Uber Downtown, always clean, very friendly staff and continental breakfast. We will definitely be back!
