Gli ospiti apprezzano le sorgenti calde, la sauna naturale e il fango vulcanico, i lussureggianti giardini e l'area delle farfalle, oltre a uno scivolo d'acqua divertente; i tour e le escursioni sono tra i punti forti. This resort was beautiful and I felt so at peace staying there. The grounds were immaculate and soaking in the hot springs was the highlight part of my evening. Highly recommend!

We were so pleased with the thermal pools. No smell. We had them almost to ourselves mid February and thought the temp was perfect- the fresh water pool with slide was too cold tho. The property had lovely gardens and butterflies and sauna. Worth the sketchy roads we did at night not realizing we’d have to leave pavement for an hour or more @ 20 mph max

We used a shuttle setup through the resort from the Liberia airport. The drivers were friendly and helpful. A portion of the 2 hr drive to the resort is rocky and bumpy. The gardens, spa, and pools are lovely. One freshwater pool was open and another was closed (but looked like it would be fun to swim in). The restaurant is great and has a wonderful breakfast that is included, but there is only one restaurant. Meal prices are similar to US prices. You can walk or drive to other restaurants. The yoga pavilion is lovely and an instructor was there one of the days we were there. There was a charge for the session. The zipline was closed due to storm damage, which was disappointing. Tubing was not available as the river was too low during the dry season. We did 2 hikes that were great. The Grand and Twin Waterfall and the Cathedral waterfall hike. These can be hot and rigorous, so be prepared. The staff were all attentive and friendly.

The hotel check in was easy. The room was clean and grounds were immaculately groomed. My kids especially loved the water slide! There was a sloth hanging out in a tree behind our room during our stay. We also saw lots of monkeys while soaking in the Jamaica pool. The restaurant was not our favorite of the trip, but the second night we visited Cocina de Mayrita for dinner based on another review. It was a highlight of the trip!! It was an amazing dining experience. Be sure to bring cash and an appetite!

Rustic and wonderful!! Various soaking options, beautiful grounds & flowers & butterflies and flora and fauna. We even saw a sloth and howler monkeys. Massages therapist has magic hands! We would def stay here again. Be prepared to travel far on bumpy road. Food was great off the ball inclusive menu. People soooo friendly!

This is the most magical place! When you’re done frolicking in all the different pools nestled amongst the most beautiful gardens and taking advantage of all the unique and free amenities and sites on the property you can have a delicious dinner and cocktails on site. I can’t wait to go back! It’s a rocky ride from Liberia though, make sure you rent a 4x4!

This resort is incredible. The grounds are lush and meticulously maintained. The staff is friendly and the food was great. There’s plenty to do with several excursions offered. It’s an amazing place to get away and reset. We swam in the thermal pools, rode horses, did a waterfall hike, got a massage, explored the gardens and did a yoga class. Every night we fell asleep to the sounds of the jungle. What an incredible experience!

Accommodatie was in hele slechte staat en ontzettend oud. Het huisje viel op zich nog mee en wel schoon. 1 zwembad was leeg/onderhoud. Aantal plekken waar dieren zouden zitten stond leeg. Ontbijt was heel slecht. Wifi niet best. We hadden 4 dagen geboekt omdat we hier heel veel van hadden verwacht. Maar na 2 nachten al uitgecheckt. Enige is dat het personeel ontzettend aardig is.

The Blue River Resort is absolutely amazing. Situated in the midst of a tropical rainforest, fresh, clean, unchlorinated, river water fill its pools. Combined with the warm pools and natural sauna fueled by an active volcano you will experience an actual paradise on earth. The rooms and facilities are exceptionally clean. However no amount of scrubbing can prevent insects (small gnats, ants, mosquitos) from entering the rooms and facilities. Its a tradeoff to lodge in nature in all her natural glory. So take some bug spay for yourself. Remain tolerate of earth's other creatures and soak in a rare adventure that you will remember for a lifetime.

Great quiet place, clean and well maintained. Saw some tucanes. Road to get there is bad, over 25 km of ugly potholes and bad gravel road (70 minutes). Would recommend a 4x4 which does make the ride a little better.

Was there in the off season. Breakfast was suppose to be 7am to 9pm but they stopped bringing out food at 8am and put everything away at 8:30. For meals had to ask staff for the menu, walk over to get their attention to order, and then remind them to bring out the food. This happened for every meal. Grounds were nice but not everything was maintained. The food was excellent though.

Blue River Resort is a really lovely place, the gardens are beautiful and a nice walk even in the rain (it IS a rain forest - so you have to expect it!). There are different pools, both hot and fresh water, very nice to float in the heat! The restaurant has good food, excellent service! The rooms are nice, like a cottage, very large and quite comfortable.

Stay Away – Nightmare- Facility, Location, and Terrible Customer Service! I booked a stay at Blue River Resort in Costa Rica but had to leave early due to unforeseen circumstances. Expedia was incredibly helpful and even contacted the hotel on my behalf to request any sort of refund—but the hotel flat-out refused. No flexibility, no understanding, just greedy management hiding behind their “policy.” To make matters worse, this place is completely off the beaten path, and the drive there was a disaster—all gravel roads, massive potholes, and constant dodging of cattle and stray dogs. If you don’t have a 4x4, be prepared for a rough, stressful journey. Had I known how bad the road conditions were, I would have never booked in the first place. And for the price? What a joke. There was very little air conditioning, making the room extremely uncomfortable. They claim to offer WiFi, but it barely worked—if at all. You might get a weak signal for a few minutes before it drops completely. So if you need to stay connected, forget it. To top it off, The front desk staff acted as if they cared and would be able to work something out. Instead of working with me on a reasonable solution, they sent me their policy and wouldn't budge. I wasn’t even asking for a full refund—just some understanding—but they clearly don’t value their guests. There are plenty of better places in Costa Rica with great customer service. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else!

The resort is amazing and unique. The grounds are breathtaking. The cabins are awesome. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is lots to do. The wifi is spotty and the road to the property is very tricky to drive on - a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended with an experienced driver at the wheel. Once you get to the resort, though, you’ll be happy you came.

I heard it was great for bird watching, animals and had a view of the volcano. I must no have got lucky. I didn't see any of that. The food was okay. The room had a lot of noise because the wind blowing large seeds of the trees above it. Woke up about 4 times to what sounded like large rocks hitting the metal roof. Staff was okay.

Check the room hot water and the issue with all the bathroom get wet when open the shower. And the issue of the hot water on the shower continue for the second day, you will consider to move us to another room, because you have 5 available rooms.

We booked a villa. The water in the shower was cold, every time we opened the faucet, the electricity flickered. We had a power outage. The curtains in the room fell from a height. Only one restaurant was open and they hurried to close it to go home. We really didn't enjoy ourselves, we ran away early in the morning

Blue River is great. The grounds are beautiful, the room is nice with a comfortable bed, and the hammock on the patio was perfect for relaxing. The free breakfast in the morning is great, along with the rest of the menu. I love the volcanic mud, the natural thermal pool sauna, and the butterfly garden. This was my 2nd stay here & I will def be back again!

Stay Away – Nightmare- Facility, Location, and Terrible Customer Service! I booked a stay at Blue River Resort in Costa Rica but had to leave early due to unforeseen circumstances. Expedia was incredibly helpful and even contacted the hotel on my behalf to request any sort of refund—but the hotel flat-out refused. No flexibility, no understanding, just greedy management hiding behind their “policy.” To make matters worse, this place is completely off the beaten path, and the drive there was a disaster—all gravel roads, massive potholes, and constant dodging of cattle and stray dogs. If you don’t have a 4x4, be prepared for a rough, stressful journey. Had I known how bad the road conditions were, I would have never booked in the first place. And for the price? What a joke. There was very little air conditioning, making the room extremely uncomfortable. They claim to offer WiFi, but it barely worked—if at all. You might get a weak signal for a few minutes before it drops completely. So if you need to stay connected, forget it. To top it off, The front desk staff acted as if they cared and would be able to work something out. Instead of working with me on a reasonable solution, they sent me their policy and wouldn't budge. I wasn’t even asking for a full refund—just some understanding—but they clearly don’t value their guests. There are plenty of better places in Costa Rica with great customer service. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else!

This property is amazing. The beautiful toucan Sam’s that fly all around, the viewing of the sloth, which is a rare occurrence . The staff at this place makes me come back here after year. Thanks for a great visit once again.

We used a shuttle setup through the resort from the Liberia airport. The drivers were friendly and helpful. A portion of the 2 hr drive to the resort is rocky and bumpy. The gardens, spa, and pools are lovely. One freshwater pool was open and another was closed (but looked like it would be fun to swim in). The restaurant is great and has a wonderful breakfast that is included, but there is only one restaurant. Meal prices are similar to US prices. You can walk or drive to other restaurants. The yoga pavilion is lovely and an instructor was there one of the days we were there. There was a charge for the session. The zipline was closed due to storm damage, which was disappointing. Tubing was not available as the river was too low during the dry season. We did 2 hikes that were great. The Grand and Twin Waterfall and the Cathedral waterfall hike. These can be hot and rigorous, so be prepared. The staff were all attentive and friendly.

Was there in the off season. Breakfast was suppose to be 7am to 9pm but they stopped bringing out food at 8am and put everything away at 8:30. For meals had to ask staff for the menu, walk over to get their attention to order, and then remind them to bring out the food. This happened for every meal. Grounds were nice but not everything was maintained. The food was excellent though.

The first day our children asked for syrup with their pancakes and it wasn’t available, so the next day, sure enough-syrup for our pancakes! It’s the little things that stand out! It’s secluded, but that’s part of the charm ☺️

Blue River Resort & Hot Springs is a gem of a location. The roads in and out are a nightmare to drive in but the location itself is an idyllic oasis. We decided to stay here as part of our "Pure Vida exploration trip" because we knew we wanted to go see the Cathedral Waterfall (El Santuario). Blue River is ideally located for that purpose and was the main reason we initially booked it. It was never part of the plan to stay there but we are so glad we did. We never intended to make use of all their amenities but after hearing about them upon arrival we booked an additional day so we could get the full experience since our first day we arrived at night. We enjoyed the natural saunas (enjoying the company of some bats), lathered ourselves in the volcanic mud and then relaxed in the multiple hot springs and fresh water pools they have on site. Saw some cool birds at the bird lake, visited the miniature horses and donkeys and the peacocks they have. The staff were great and food was good (would recommend the Casado for lunch everytime). But by far the best part was the tour we booked with Geovany to see the El Santuario. He went above and beyond and took us on an awesome tour of that amazing waterfall. He made sure we had a safe trip and saw to it that we enjoyed ourselves. He had a wealth of knowledge about the environment/animals in the area and even managed to find us an elusive sloth my wife badly wanted to see. Would highly recommend taking the tour with Geovany.

We were so pleased with the thermal pools. No smell. We had them almost to ourselves mid February and thought the temp was perfect- the fresh water pool with slide was too cold tho. The property had lovely gardens and butterflies and sauna. Worth the sketchy roads we did at night not realizing we’d have to leave pavement for an hour or more @ 20 mph max

This place is magical. Loved every minute of it. We only booked to stay one night and it was not enough so we stayed another night. Gave us a discounted rate too! Staff was so friendly, food was awesome. Cant say enough about this place. It's hard to get to but worth the travel.

The resort is amazing and unique. The grounds are breathtaking. The cabins are awesome. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is lots to do. The wifi is spotty and the road to the property is very tricky to drive on - a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended with an experienced driver at the wheel. Once you get to the resort, though, you’ll be happy you came.

Great quiet place, clean and well maintained. Saw some tucanes. Road to get there is bad, over 25 km of ugly potholes and bad gravel road (70 minutes). Would recommend a 4x4 which does make the ride a little better.

The resort itself was nice. You had a private cabin that was kept clean and the property had much to explore in terms of pools and gardens. The real amenity of this property is its proximity to Cocina de Mayrita - which is the most delicious food I’ve had in Costa Rica and probably ever. Maybe 10 mins away from the resort, their cheap food and amazing hospitality makes the stay worth it. Not much else nearby. Food at the resort was alright, but wouldn’t stay more than a few nights.

The biggest surprise was the restaurant.The food is amazing. Probably the best i had in all of Costa Rica. The hotel is very clean and gives you a unique feeling being inside the rainforest. The only issue is to get there whichnis abit of a bumpy ride.

The hotel check in was easy. The room was clean and grounds were immaculately groomed. My kids especially loved the water slide! There was a sloth hanging out in a tree behind our room during our stay. We also saw lots of monkeys while soaking in the Jamaica pool. The restaurant was not our favorite of the trip, but the second night we visited Cocina de Mayrita for dinner based on another review. It was a highlight of the trip!! It was an amazing dining experience. Be sure to bring cash and an appetite!

Unbelievable it is a hidden paradise. If you’re looking to escape do not ever look any further than this property. It is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is first class and I’m from Miami and let me tell you I know what first class is.

La route pour se rendre à l’hotel est terrible et dangereuse, il y a des trous énormes… Les chambres sont rustiques mais suffisantes. L’aménagement exterieur est magnifique, sources thermales, piscines et belle vegetation. Le restaurant est assez ordinaires pour le prix, beaucoup de nos plats étaient trop cuit ou brûlée. Pour conclure, à part les piscines naturelles , ça ne vaut pas le détour.
La route pour se rendre à l’hotel est terrible et dangereuse, il y a des trous énormes… Les chambres sont rustiques mais suffisantes. Even that the road to get there is not in amazing conditions, if you have a 4x4 - tall car is totally worth it! The place and the nature around it is amazing, you feel like a VIP the staff is amazingly friendly and the food is incredible, we had so much fun, so many things to do that time is not enough. The nature, the peace and the atmosphere is just incredible. 1000000% recommend it.
