Staff were so friendly and helpful, lovely wee hidden gem of a small hotel

It was a great place to stay with very kind and helpful staff!

Great location. Not too loud or crowded. We didn’t end up using the pool but looked cute when we peeked at it. The staff is very sweet. We hired Sroeun one day to take us to the temples in a tuk-tuk and had a lovely time. The reception staff/servers were likewise helpful and friendly. Really appreciated the potable water refill to avoid plastic bottles.

Unfortunately, Babel Guesthouse was not the right fit for us. Upon arrival with my husband and our 3-year-old daughter, we quickly realized it wasn’t what we were looking for to end our vacation. We decided immediately to find an hotel and never used the room—we left it exactly as we found it. I had booked four nights and didn’t expect any kind of refund. However, the manager contacted me asking me to cancel the reservation through Expedia. I did so right away, thinking perhaps they were considering refunding at least a couple of nights. I wasn’t expecting to be refunded for the first night, as that wouldn’t have been fair. But in the end, it became clear that the only reason for the request was to free up the room and offer it to someone else, without offering me anything in return. It was a disappointing and frustrating experience.
