As many people said previously no free parking on site unless you stay in suite i had a great single room overlooking the sea which is unusual for a single quality of food was excellent & all staff were very accommodating & on leaving the person on reception carried my bags to the car a glass of wine was the most money i've paid ever i would come back

Remote carpark expensive at £15-40 for 24 hours. No pavement to the town for some distance. Hotel not very clean - dirty floor and table. Paintwork needed attention particularly in the reception area. Food average, drinks expensive. Room service non existent. Staff pleasant and helpful. The whole place needs an internal refurbishment.

Das Zimmer war groß und sehr schön. Die Parkmöglichkeiten sind jedoch sehr eingeschränkt und der öffentliche Carpark um die Ecke ist sehr steil und kostet über 15Pund die Nacht. Das hätte ich gerne vorher gewusst.

Lovely place to stay staff friendly clean beds comfortable .stairs very steep need to take your time with them people with poor mobility would find them hard to cope .there is room for 2 cars to park opposite hotel or need to park in carpark a 2-5 minute walk away .you can purchase a parking pass for £5 per day to stay there and it also cover other cars named on list in different car parks food served is very good in the restaurant not too pricey .

Room 12 is a good size with lovely views alas it’s in the roof and no lift. Staircase very steep. No breakfast as they didn’t have a chef!! Not particularly well run. I’d emailed them twice but they never reply. There is no hotel car park and the hotel is a 15 minute walk to the beach.

The check in was quick and easy, the room was superb and plenty big enough with a writing desk, coffee table and chairs and a superb bathroom complete with a bath. I dined in the evening, the food was first class, as was the service. Breakfast was also excellent. One minor criticism is that an omelette was the same price as a full English. I had that as I wasn't hungry enough for a full fry up but didn't want continental. Parking outside is also problematic. There is some short term parking very close but the main car park is a few minutes walk away and 'pay and display' so the cost of that needs to be factored in to the overall cost of a night stay. Overall I would recommend it and be happy to stay there again.

The hotel was nice and comfortable and furnishings modern. the bed was extremely comfortable. The outside bar area overlooking the tidal estuary was lovely. We had an evening meal the first night of our stay that was delicious and reasonably priced. The location is great and extremely handy for public transport. The railways station is literally next door and that is how we travelled. Only a couple of things to be aware of, the access stairs to the upstairs rooms are narrow and extremely steep.

The room was fine. Very clean. Sea view. We couldn't get the shower to work so used the bath instead. We opted to take breakfast which was a great disappointment. The self serve buffet had no cups, saucers, spoons, bowls or yoghurt and just 2 croissants left at 9am. The toast machine was broken. The menu was confusing (egg on toast option included the buffet breakfast, but very small pale print so hard to read). Staff member blithely admitted it wasn't very good and didn't charge us in the end. Also said it was good we opted not to eat there the previous evening as they were busy with one and a half hour wait for food. Shame the food lets it all down.

Hotel room was in need of spruce up. There were stains on the carpet and sofa. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and the drinking glass was dirty. When I offered my feedback to the receptionist she said she would pass the message on but there was no management around at check out.

Room was snug, and lovely and warm. Staff were helpful, and fresh milk provided on request. Food was typical ‘pub grub’ and drinks expensive compared to other bars in the town. However, on returning to our room after housekeeping had been to attend to our room, it had been left open/not locked. On the 2nd day, housekeeping arrived without knocking whilst we were still in bed!!!! Some things that need to be addressed! But overall lovely stay.

Very nice check in and help with bags. Room was too hot and by an extractor fan so very noisy all night. Shower ran cold for quite a while so 1st person had a cold shower and only warm for 2nd person.

We stayed in the two storey suite. Spotlessly clean. Upstairs bedroom and bathroom stunning. The 2 sofa beds in downstairs room were very well worn and very uncomfortable. Definitely need replacing. Stunning views from suite and added bonus of small outdoor terrace.

Room (suite) was lovely with great views - well would have been without other guests being inconsiderate. Two cars were parked outside our suite despite parking available behind the suites. I phoned reception to speak about this and asked if the guests could be contacted to move them. They said it was hard to determine who the cars belonged to (despite only 4 suites and we were in one). They would try and get bk to us. They didn’t and the cars were still blocking our beautiful view in the morning - such a shame. Dogs barking upstairs throughout the night - so irritating and kept us awake. Room facilities, size and comfort very good. Bathroom was big and very modern. Beautiful area with lovely walks . Would we come back- no probably not. Definitely come and stay in the area though. Lovely fish and chips on the sea front!

Booked suite so got parking thank goodness. Room a bit dated. Good to have a fridge. Heating came on at 2.30am very annoying. Room was to hot. Window wouldn’t stay open. Bed very hard. Tv remote did not work. Menu at night awful when asked for advice on special pie just told in was meat. Breakfast was good. Would have liked filter coffee for the price.

We had apartment. It was very good in lots of areas, beds, bed linen , good showerTV and internet. We reported that toilet upstairs was leaking from the back near floor.could be a hazard. There could have been more availability of cutlery , couple of bowls or plates could have been available. There was a fridge , dining table and 4 chairs. If we wanted to have a take away - no cutlery or plates. We had an eat supper in bar area, food was ok , it was too noisy to relax so just had main course..

We stayed here after having walked up Snowdon! We were exhausted and asked if we could have our dinner in our room, the Receptionist was really accommodating. As it was, after a lovely warm bath we felt able to use the stairs again and ate in the restaurant. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We stayed in room 1, a lovely large room with a sea view. The decor was tasteful and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Aberdovey was a lovely place and we will be returning in the Summer, hoping to do some local walks. I cannot recommend The Penhelig Arms enough, we were genuinely impressed.

Pennhelig Arms is the perfect place to stay to explore the area. The staff, Adam, Barry, Ollie, and all others were friendly and kind for our entire stay. The bar and restaurant are cozy and convenient and the food tasty and well prepared, great fish and chips. Overall it was a very pleasant stay in Aberdovey. If we could change one thing it would be that one night we returned just before 9 pm and the restaurant was open until 9:30 but the kitchen wouldn't cook anything because they shut down at 8 pm. Disappointed in that but all else was good.

Great location in a small seaside town. Clean, tidy and dog friendly rooms. Nice patio on the sea front. Parking is difficult before 6pm. On our first day we were refused food at 6pm by the bar man, due to large amount of bookings. Being a guest we would have expected to be accommodated. Other than that, the rest of the staff were great and made you feel welcome.

Was shown to my room and then I discovered that the tank on the WC kept running. Apparently a plumber had been called several days ago, but hadn't turned up. Thinking it would keep me awake, they upgraded me to a suite at no extra charge. Much appreciated.

The room was superb - however the stay was let down firstly initial welcome at hotel - asked about parking and member of staff was not helpful at all - must remember most guests will not know the area so by saying park in the car park up the road is not helpful - Secondly - dinner - not everything available on menu but to make thing worse could hear disgruntlement from the kitchen staff. Positive what we ordered was very nice. Thirdly breakfast - first experience- omelette undercooked and again could hear staff in kitchen talking with exasperation. Second experience no kitchen staff so unable to provide cooked breakfast

The check in was quick and easy, the room was superb and plenty big enough with a writing desk, coffee table and chairs and a superb bathroom complete with a bath. I dined in the evening, the food was first class, as was the service. Breakfast was also excellent. One minor criticism is that an omelette was the same price as a full English. I had that as I wasn't hungry enough for a full fry up but didn't want continental. Parking outside is also problematic. There is some short term parking very close but the main car park is a few minutes walk away and 'pay and display' so the cost of that needs to be factored in to the overall cost of a night stay. Overall I would recommend it and be happy to stay there again.

Bit of a blip at check in (which wasn’t the hotels fault tbh) but James was quick to rectify the situation and all the staff were excellent (well done James,Sion,Baz and Charlotte for your very attentive treatment We will definitely be returning

The sea view apartment is located in a nice spot , it sleeps 6 people and very spacious ,nice upstairs bedroom and on suite, there is two sofa beds down stairs which could do with replacing as they were very uncomfortable to sit on as there were well worn, the outside was nice to sit on the balcony and chill but could do with a lick of paint . Staff was very nice and friendly and breakfast was nice

The hotel was nice and comfortable and furnishings modern. the bed was extremely comfortable. The outside bar area overlooking the tidal estuary was lovely. We had an evening meal the first night of our stay that was delicious and reasonably priced. The location is great and extremely handy for public transport. The railways station is literally next door and that is how we travelled. Only a couple of things to be aware of, the access stairs to the upstairs rooms are narrow and extremely steep.

The room was fine. Very clean. Sea view. We couldn't get the shower to work so used the bath instead. We opted to take breakfast which was a great disappointment. The self serve buffet had no cups, saucers, spoons, bowls or yoghurt and just 2 croissants left at 9am. The toast machine was broken. The menu was confusing (egg on toast option included the buffet breakfast, but very small pale print so hard to read). Staff member blithely admitted it wasn't very good and didn't charge us in the end. Also said it was good we opted not to eat there the previous evening as they were busy with one and a half hour wait for food. Shame the food lets it all down.

We were disappointed with the lack of hot water in the dinning room. The water in the urn was tepid .......so a decent cup of tea or coffee was impossible. In addition of the three bananas in the fruit bowl only one was edible. The other 2 were excessively over ripe.

We have been wanting to visit this hotel for years and were amazed that a Saturday night was free, with a sea-view room..and the weather was to be glorious. Granted early check-in; bright room, clean and modern, well decorated. Manager even let us park our m'cycle directly opposite, just off the road. This would have been an excellent stay if we'd eaten elsewhere. Evening meal was poor by any standard (very restricted options-no burgers/steak/flat breads) and what arrived 1hr later was only eaten because we were very hungry. Breakfast was dire for me and my partner kindly donated 1/3 of her omelette to save me complaining. We felt for the staff because they obviously do long hours and the heatwave must have affected things in the kitchen. I have tried to give a true reflection of our experience and I tend to give 5* or write no review at all, however I will be emailing the hotel regarding the degree to which we felt let down.

Previously stayed in one of the better rooms and it was good but the hotel was full on this occasion and we had one of the standard rooms. The bed was uncomfortably hot, probably because of a plastic rich undersheet. Shower was minimal size. Dinner was very poor. We dined early but many of the menu options were unavailable and the fish we ordered appeared to have been kept warm for a long time. I assume we were eating what was left over from lunch or last night's dinner. Breakfast was excellent.

Remote carpark expensive at £15-40 for 24 hours. No pavement to the town for some distance. Hotel not very clean - dirty floor and table. Paintwork needed attention particularly in the reception area. Food average, drinks expensive. Room service non existent. Staff pleasant and helpful. The whole place needs an internal refurbishment.

Clean room and very helpful staff but bar was closed (despite notice saying open till 11pm) on our return. We didn't breakfast there but went to Coast in the village. Recommended. No Car park that we were made aware of either.

Our first Impression of our arrival in Aberdovey wasn't good. It is worth stating that only the suites at the hotel have reserved parking, other rooms have to use the nearby council car park, which is convenient, but costs an eye watering £15,40 a day. Not the hotel's fault of course, but I think guests should be made aware. The car park does not accept cards either, only cash and the App. We were allocated a room on the top floor, the stairs are rather small, and difficult to manouver with luggage, and badly scuffed in places. Our room was very spacious, with a comfortable bed with quality bedding. The bathroom too was spacious with good quality towels. There was a kettle plus tea & coffee, together with a small sofa and coffee table. It was very hot during our stay there, and there is no air conditioning of course, nor fans provided, so only the small windows to provide any airflow. However, the kitchen extractor fan(s) were located outside the bedroom window, and were going until almost midnight every day, from around 7am. This together with the heat meant poor quality sleeping every night. The cooked breakfasts were very good, but not the "Continental" option, only apples, oranges, cereals and a few croisants were available most days plus toast, and yoghurts if they had any. No rolls, meats, vegetables or cheeses. Water for hot drinks is from an Urn, no coffee machine. The "Continental" items ran out frequently every day. Note: the Kitchen Hygene Rating is only 3.

A lovely pub . we had great accomodation high up with our own parking and beautiful views. terrace to sit and enjoy the scenery. A delightful eating /drinking site across the road, by the water's edge. Food reasonable. Breakfast also good.

+A clean room, polite staff, a good breakfast. - Our room was on the second floor, a bit of a climb with luggage (no lift). It was a heatwave weekend and the small double room would have benefitted from the supply of a fan. The tables outside could do with parasols, too, for such weather (80 - 90 degrees).
